Holly i like your style!! - i'm looking for a half decent photo of me to put on my profile and can't find any!!!!! - pleanty of my lovely family but i just look like a total plonker in every photo - "camera never lies" - now that is a worry!!
(might just post one of someone else - you lot would never know anyway!!!!!)

hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 13:36

I am extremely unphotogenic, hence the photo of me on my profile is a far away shot! I always look like a knob!

OP posts:
derlor · 05/05/2007 13:43

NO i like your photo - not a knob at all - PMSL though at your comment!!
right SURELY i can find something......

Seansgirl · 05/05/2007 13:51

Yes Foxy, just a teensy bit

Seansgirl · 05/05/2007 13:54

And you're right hopefully there will be something to nibble on and possibly a nice cuppa. (keep those fruit shoots away!!!!)

Just spoke to DH and said "are you ok you sound a bit funny" me "oh I'm fecking over the moon whadya think?" Men! Its not his fault, but someone has to bare the brunt!

Seansgirl · 05/05/2007 13:56

And yes Holly as my DD always says "its nice to share"....

Seansgirl · 05/05/2007 13:57

Right, party to go to, better get washed and into some proper clothes so don't show DD up!

foxybrown · 05/05/2007 14:35

what am I doing back on here?

Men have to bear the brunt, its in their job spec.

Inseminate, fund, deal with it.
IMHO

am off to do some thing useful xx

derlor · 05/05/2007 14:38

oh i've put some photos on my profile - man thats stressful!!!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/05/2007 15:11

Feel very stretched after yoga. Skin still burny though. MMM - wonder if should smear ice cream on that.

Have great tip to get men to do housework. Very kindly said my DH could have one of my LUSH bath bombs for his bath. You know, the ones with the twigs and stuff in them. Of course all the crap was all over the bath when he'd finished so he HAD to clean it. Then he thought while about it might as well clean the sink & loo too. Then why not the floor.Come to think of it, may as well just do the kitchen too. I came home from work to a semi-clean house. RESULT He usually doesn't even pick up the wet towel from the floor. Now how to get him onto the living room & bedroom.

foxybrown · 05/05/2007 15:56

aw derlor! look at you guys! you all look lovely, and your children are beautiful!
Tullulabelle - I take my hat off to you, you did well!!

BadZelda · 05/05/2007 16:13

It's not painful at all - just means I have a sharp 'fang' next to my front tooth. I should be able to make an appt next week - but was worried they might not be able to use anaesthetic. Looks like it will be alright though...just costly. And I know I'm entitled to free dental care by the wonderful NHS but unfortunately my wonderful dentist doesn't do NHS and I've had really bad experiences with dentists in the past...so guess I'll have to shut up and cough up.

It's a pity because generally I think the NHS can only work in the long term if people keep using services, and don't let the govt cop out of providing them because they assume people should go private for stuff like this. But unfortunately am too phobic about my teeth to put this belief into practise ;(

notsolilKel · 05/05/2007 16:24

Holly your photo is sweet - that is DH you're holding hands with at that wee romantic table, no??

BTW my mint ice cream was decidedly sub par. No guilt afterwards re lack of returned favours then... . Will have to hunt for myself nextime, methinks...

Furrymummy · 05/05/2007 16:39

Just though I would randomly gatecrash your thread to say I have enjoyed your thread titles and found them very funny, I guess some people need to take themselves less seriously.... good luck to you all and to your beans xx

bumperlicious · 05/05/2007 17:14

Thanks Funnymummy! We appreciate the support!

Seansgirl, sorry you are having such a crap day. Hope it gets better though. Rant away on here!

Badzelda sorry to hear about the tooth. I hate dentists! Is it bad I haven't been whilst pg? And I have NHS.

Justbeme I luuurrrve tiger bread! I know it sounds bad but I do find the bread at the supermarket softer and nicer than farmer's market bread which has been sat outside for a while. Ok I know - don't tell me about all the crap they put in supermarket bread!

Derlor just looked at your pics - your kids are soooo cute! Justbe me, don't know if I said it before either but your DD is a stunner too!

So, jobs I have done today from my list earlier:

-Put away baby clothes that were washed a week ago and are still hanging on clothes horse DONE

-Do washing up that DH promised to do but can't coz he is now at work DONE

-Go into town to get friend a birthday present (yes, I have a rl friend!) DONE (plus I picked up a few things for myself...DH was given a 40% off voucher for peacocks so I bought some cropped leggings, a satin smock type top - size 12 but still fits so will do before and after baby born, and a cream summer mac and some earrings - all for £22!)

-Make said friend a cake - Hmm, spent too long in town so gonna buy her one!

-Listen to natal hypnotherapy cd (mum's partner bought it for me and keep telling my mum I have been listening to it! Though I have only done it once) - no, tomorrow though!

Plus I did some more laundry. I have been a good girl today!

bumperlicious · 05/05/2007 17:15

Sorry - Furrymummy not funnymummy!

claire74 · 05/05/2007 17:43

Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you the horrible day I had yesterday.

I had my routine 34 weeks appointment at the hospital and I took along my 3 year old dd.

I had to have a blood sample taken for something or other routine. Its not my favourite thing, but aslong as I look away I'm usually ok. The lady ( the one taking the blood , not sure of official title) couldn't find a vein in my arm after 2 failed attempts, she decided to go into my hand, I started to get a bit panicky as this hasn't happened before, and started to think awful things, like does this women know what she's doing, she looked quite nervous.

Anyway she put the needle into a vein in my hand and it really hurt, I started to feel really hot.....then passed out and came round so I was told 4 mins later to 2 nurses and the blood woman standing over me, one of them holding a flannel on my head. I started to panic and began shouting for my daughter and asking someone to look after her, I then caught sight of her next to me, who suddenly started to cry when I panicked and was saying 'mummy I'm here'

I was so shaken by the whole thing, and felt the staff weren't very reassauring at all, they all looked a bit bemused, admittedly I was quite emotional, but thought they would be understanding to this.

I had a few cups of lucozade and asked one of the nurses if my baby would be ok, and she said' I should think so"

I then said I wanted to see the midwife and for her to listen to the baby, which she did begrudgingly ( all was well )then they sent me home, without even checking my blood pressure again.

I know it probably happens alot, but I really felt ignored, and felt they weren't sympathetic at all, I'd had a nasty shock, then I had to come round and snap into being a responsible mum again to my dd who was also a little shaken about the whole thing.

On top of all this, they said they needed to get the blood sample and asked if they could attempt again, I said 'No way' . So I'm going to see if my doctor will do it next week. I'm not going back to that lady, she must be new as I haven't had her for all the other routine blood tests.

Sorry about going on, just felt like I wanted to share.

claire74 · 05/05/2007 17:46

my hand is very badly bruised , v.blue and hurts like mad. grrrr

Daisybump · 05/05/2007 17:52

Well...I have the beginnings of a herb garden, bot ooooooh how bloody stressful it is being foreman.

DH "right love, how do you want to do this"

Me "I'd like a curve from the root of the tree to the edge of the steps"

DH "Would it not be better if we just did it in a straight line?"

Me "why the fuck did you ask what I wanted if you're not going to listen"...stomps off feeling hormonal

Two hours and one lovely snooze later, all the old plants have been dug out and the soil dug over with the beginnings of an edge..laid out in straight pieces of stone a foot long..

Me "not much of a curve is it?"

DH...picks up the spade and looks like hes about to brain me with it.

So...now I have a lovely curved adge made of bricks on edge so its nice and pointy at the top . Just wish I had the energy and physical ability to have done it myself

the planting is definately mine, all mine....evil

Daisybump · 05/05/2007 17:57

Ouch Claire....x-posted with you. They usually struggle to get blood out of me, but thankfully I've never had themm try to get it out of my hand before. You should sue then for emotional distress.....if you've never fainted befrore it can be quite a scary experience, and your poor DD. hope you're feeling a bit better now

bumperlicious · 05/05/2007 17:59

claire, that's awful. You are not wrong to expect a little bit more sympathy and a bit more reassurance than "I should think so" about your LO. And your poor daughter! Have you managed to explain to her what happened? When you do give your next sample it may be a good idea to take her again to show her that actually having blood taken is ok.

Really sympathise with you. I have an awful needle phobia and have just got to the stage where I don't dread having blood taken as I have had it done so many times. Sh*tting myself about my next anti-d jab on weds though. Hope your hand is better soon. Have you got some arnica you can put on it?

Daisybump · 05/05/2007 18:00

nice phots derlor....what lovely kiddies you've got.

We've got a voucher for one of those digital photo studios, but are gonna wait till after the bub is born. They look really fab I think.

hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 18:12

Hi everyone! I am really happy as fulham are staying up ! Thank god! Honestly if they had gone down I think I would have had to move out, dp would have been a nightmare to live with!

Tallulah, good dh management! I wish mine would have the common sense to do some cleaning, he just blanks out the mess and goes "lalala, I can't see it"! And also why the fuck to they put all those sticks in Lush stuff? If I'd have wanted a bath full of foliage I would have rolled in the garden first!!

Claire for your poor hand! That stupid woman obv had no clue what she was doing. Your poor dd as well, mine would have been terrified, the poor love.

Good chores doing bumper! Today I have done-
Made food. That's it!

PMSL at your poor dh doing the garden daisy! You are clearly a great foreman! My dp won't even mov the lawn, though he has promised me on pain of death that he will do it first thing in the morning! Yeah right!

Derlor, aren't you a pretty girl?! Your dcs are beautiful too!

OP posts:
hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 18:14

Oh and yes lilkel that is my dp I'm holding hands with. He was moaning at me the other day coz I had no pics of him on my profile, so I had to put one on! Glad you enjoyed your ice cream!!

OP posts:
claire74 · 05/05/2007 18:15

thanks for your support. Yes I have tried my best to explain to my dd what happened. I think that was the worse thing. She kept asking why I had a sad face

does anyone know what the 34 weeks blood test is for?

Daisybump your herb garden sounds great, would love one of those, as I spend a fortune on herbs from the supermarket , just to use once in a particular recipe.
