Thanks BZ - I didn't know that - I will chase up.

BadZelda · 04/05/2007 08:37

See, my geekiness might actually come in useful one of these days ;)

foxybrown · 04/05/2007 09:20

Hi all, hope everyone's OK.

whilst scanning through I noticed this, thought it might be of interest to you SPD sufferers spd in labour

riabutterflew · 04/05/2007 09:24

Am glad I didn't watch that programme last night.

Don't overdo the cleaning SG - I look like a cross between Lisa Dingle & Keith from Eastenders (whoever said that first - ISWYM now!) today and ache in bits I didn't know could ache. Will still have to crack on though...

Have just got back from the pgroup run - house is eeriely(sp?) quiet - no kids, no radio, nothing electrical switched on. Weird. Shame it's untidy (still) and smells of curry or it would be almost perfect!

Have a good day everyone

Daisybump · 04/05/2007 09:33

Me too Ria....I got caught up in sorting through paperwork (ye gods whats happening to me?) and it was nearly finished. It sounds horrendous and I probably would have been reduced to tears as well. I've just been reading one of these real life stories maga at the chemist and was reading about a wee one born at 23 weeks and had to gulp the tears back

Popped my virtual head around the door a couple of times last night, but the only thing going through this thread was tumbleweed.....think we all just needed a bit of a break really. Today I will clean and tidy. MIL always drops in and it shames me to think she's looking down her nose at the state of the place....so I can't ever let her see it in it's usual mess

Have a good day all.

juliewoolie · 04/05/2007 09:36

Blimey you lot chat more than us Mayers!! ; )

Hope you all slept well and the aches and pains were not to horrible.

Got to crack on with the housework today how boring but we can only live in a pit for soo long before I go all OCD.

Have a good day all.

sputnik · 04/05/2007 09:42

Morning everyone, my turn for a sleepless night last night, couldn't even lie down for hb, had to get up and drink mint tea. It's worse here at MILs house as I have less control over what I eat and when.
It's pouring with rain and I'm feeling generally pissed off, even shouted at DD this morning, which I do so rarely that whenever it happens she ends up in floods of tears. And then I do.
Ho hum. With any luck this is my last week of inactivity and having to stay at MIL's house more than 1 night a week. I can't hack it in this state.

sputnik · 04/05/2007 09:45

Hi Juliewoolie and welcome.
LOL Yesterday was a very quiet day on this thread! Usually we chat a lot more, but I think everyone's a bit deflated after the thread title furore.

Daisybump · 04/05/2007 09:54

i think you need a medal for all your patience sputnik...fingers srossed ofr some good news from your consultant next week.

I've had a horrible morning with DS...arguing back, being cheeky, mucking about in the shower not getting dressed etc. Not sure though how awful his behaviour really is, or if its just me not reacting to it terribly well after yucky painful sleepless nights.

Anyone hiring or buying a TENS machine. I didn't with DS but wonder if it might be worth it this time to allow me to labour at home for as long as possible?

BadZelda · 04/05/2007 09:59

Got a brand new tens machine for a fiver from a charity shop (what luck!) but last time I hired one from these people:

riabutterflew · 04/05/2007 10:01

As you can tell I'm unbelievably motivated this morning. My plan was to finish the kitchen then tackle DS1s room, but even to go through his door makes me want to sit on the floor and weep uncontrollably so I'm avoiding it. I wouldn't mind but I'm not going to follow him round picking up (re the conversation about mens habits being brought on by their mothers etc) but he doesn't care that you can't see the floor for crap. At least after the car boot sale this weekend he will hopefully have less crap? It's not as if he plays with any of it anyway. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

BadZelda · 04/05/2007 10:01

However that said I'm not sure I would recommend my way of coping with labour last time - went for a five mile walk! Which probably helped the labour progress, but did mean that the main injury I sustained from childbirth was a sprained foot...Tens did really help though.

riabutterflew · 04/05/2007 10:02

I have a tens machine I got off ebay when DH had a shoulder op, then I used it for sciatica. Can you borrow one from your mw/physio dept at hospital? I wouldn't go out and spend loads on a new one.

BadZelda · 04/05/2007 10:04

Hah...I was going to give a load of DD's soft toys (which she got millions of as gifts in her first year) to Barnardo's but she's scuppered that plan: "Don't give my toys away to the poor children Mummy!" A bit irritating as they take up loads of space, and apart from the tubbies and a couple of others she never even looks at them. Will have to do it when she's not around...or do you think I'm evil, and I should just think of a better way to store them? (we're talking cubic feet of soft toys here) I've never actually bought her a soft toy, but it seems to be a very popular gift. May actually ask people to refrain this time, but you can't really do that can you?

Daisybump · 04/05/2007 10:05

Shut the door Ria, then you won;t see the crap!!...My mum decided early on that if we wnted to live in a pigsty it was our prerogative and she wasn't going to interfere......she'd only get nit picky with my brother when she'd run out of teaplates and mugs . We soon learned to keep our personal space tidy!

hollyandalice · 04/05/2007 10:06

Aaargghh!! Daisy I know how you feel, my dd is being a little horror! She is in the kitchen screaming for snacks and I've just left her to it! I can't wait til it's nap time!

It's looking really gloomy here and like it might rain and I don't have the inclination to do anything except sit and drink tea! And I'm cold, might just go and put my pjs back on!

OP posts:
riabutterflew · 04/05/2007 10:06

BZ - where did you go for your walk? I am intrigued as I haven't really done "active" CB (DS1 being in the water and DS2 being in the middle of the night when there was NO WAY I was moving about!) and quite fancied moving about a bit more this time (in the hope it speeds things up), pre-water of course, but WHERE?

There are loads of tens on ebay, the ones with maternity in the heading seem more expensive, but maybe they aren't as expensive as they used to be anyway.

BadZelda · 04/05/2007 10:08

Round and round and round brixton / herne hill. Was kind of funny as we kept bumping into people we knew and I would appear normal for a few minutes, only to suddenly contort when a contraction came. I'm sure they thought I was completely mad, but I just had to keep moving...

riabutterflew · 04/05/2007 10:10

I think I'm having one of those days foxy mentioned where I want to stand in the street and shout "arse".

I find if I'm clearing out toys I have to do it when the boys are not here. It's slightly mean I suppose, but if they don't really know what they've got it will be a while before they miss is IYSWIM. I have soft toys in a hanging thing on the back of the doors. DS1 is worse about keeping them than DS2 (so that is where I'm going to start - later...)

riabutterflew · 04/05/2007 10:11

Don't fancy it where I might bump into people. Suppose we could go to the beach (so long as I don't sit down there's no fear of sand getting anywhere.)

I'm off to be productive for 10 minutes...

sputnik · 04/05/2007 10:12

Thanks Daisy

hollyandalice · 04/05/2007 10:12

ARSE ARSE ARSE!! Me too ria!! I'm bored and want to do something, but I don't know what to do or where to go.

OP posts:
Daisybump · 04/05/2007 10:16

Can I join you in the ARSE shouting....feel like a damp squib today and want to go back to bed and weep....maybe some chocolate will lift my mood before I tackle the kitchen...

"see" yas later..

hollyandalice · 04/05/2007 10:20

Damp squib has hit the nail on the head! I've already eaten half a bar of milka and it has had no effect! At least my dd is being a nice girl now, she is sat on my lap having a cuddle! I hate being cross with her!

OP posts:
Daisybump · 04/05/2007 10:27

I think chocolate, like all drugs, needs ever increasing doses to give you the same hit . The amount I've been eating, I suspect its gonna take one of the giant bars to have any sort of effect at all

Got a questionaire through from the mental health nurse yesterday and I realise they need to assess how you are feeling, but think the whole PG thing might skew the results:......Some typical statments, to be responded to on a scale of Not at All up to Most or All of the Time:

I have felt totally lacking in energy and enthusiasm
I have been troubled by aches, pains or other physical problems
I have felt like crying
I have felt panic or terror
I have been irritable with other people
