Has anyone elses heartburn stepped up a gear? I was getting plagued about once a day, mostly in the evening at bedtime.....but now its after every meal, and anything and everything is triggering it off. Bloody annoying as I've run out of industrial strength and am having to resort to over the counter gaviscon whihc isn't nearly as effective...been eating them like sweets yesterday and today...grrr

New prescription will be ready tomorrow though!!

bumperlicious · 03/05/2007 19:25

Evening all, hope you are all ok. Seems to have gone a bit quiet for a change. I guess everyone is feeling a bit narked off still about all this thread crap - or more hopefully it's because you guys all have loads of really interesting rl stuff to do!

I've been home from work this afternoon, just feeling so uncomfortable I just couldn't sit still in my chair or concentrate on anything. My hip or sacroiliac joint or whatever the damn hell is wrong with me is giving me gip, so much so that I can't even sit on my ball comfortably, but the ball is the only thing that relieves my back ache!

The good thing is though I got my secret shower prezzy today! It's a Very Hungry Caterpillar baby book which is fab! We don't have a baby book yet and were meaning to get one. Plus the hungry caterpillar is a character after my own heart! I wonder if I can eat so much then become a beautiful butterfly after this pregnancy? THANK YOU secret showerer! Trying to figure out who it is from but even with a post mark I can't tell. Is the postcard from the Isle of Wight a clue or a red herring? Hmmm?

NattyThomasandEllen · 03/05/2007 19:31

oh my god ANOTHER new thread, for goodness sakes its getting impossible to keep up with the weekly page change!

went to see consultant yesterday, to be told the complete opposite to what the last one said, therefore i am of the opinion that they DONT KNOW WHAT THEIR BLOODY TALKING ABOUT!
and we saw the registra AGAIN instead of the consultant, im getting the hump.
i feel like having the baby at home and stuffing the lot of them, and if it wasnt for this bloody Group B Step i would be! stupid moorons.

ok rant over feeling better!
anyone else having dreadfully painful braxton hicks? i didnt have any at all with thomas, and now i can bearly move for them!
any other previous section mums, does your scar hurt when the baby moves? is this normal?

how is everyone? starting to get excited? i cant wait personally, for purely selfish reasons, i just cant stand being pregnant near the end! plus navigating 2 flights of stairs with a pushchair 8 months pregnant is no fun what so ever, and quite painful to be honest.

we are def being evicted on june 10th, so Ellen will be approx 9 days old (being induced on due date if she doesnt appear b4 then) and im hoping i have a normal birth as c-section delivery is so hard to recover from, and i wont be able to move let alone move boxes!

glad to hear you are all so cheerful, reading this thread (admittedly only once a week but it takes like an hour to read) has kept my spirits up.

please please please keep it up when bubbas arrive, i found that the post natal thread peatters of somewhat when we have less time to ourselves!

Speak soon, love and healthy thoughts to all

reposted from earlier as i put it on wrong thread lmao

bumperlicious · 03/05/2007 19:36

Can I just say that it's fab that people want to crash our thread (hi btw Julie!) the more the merrier! But under NO circumstances is anyone to desert us for July, that means you Seansgirl, Foxy and Annobal! You are on the edge but you belong here! They won't want on the July thread - they won't understand you like we do...

Anyway, feeling v reassured at what your MW said Daisy! In fact I'm going to spend the weekend 'cooking' my bump in the sun to make sure it's good and ready.

Btw lilkel, curious about your professional knowledge - anti money laundering, sounds exciting, can you say what you do?

bumperlicious · 03/05/2007 19:43

Hi NT&E

Good to hear from you. Evicted? How stressful for you! Have you found somewhere else to live yet? Good luck! Hopefully your new place won't have so many stairs.

I'm with you on the painful BHs, they've only just started and all the info says 'they shouldn't be painful' they lied! And when I say anything to anyone else who has been pg before they just give me a smug look and say 'huh, wait till the birth' as if to say you are in for a bit shock lady. Not helpful! It seems to be the one's with older kids who are the worst. One woman at work today said very matter of factly "the first is always late and the second is always early". Well I'm sure that's not always true, but everyone like to think they know better!

Btw, HT&E how did you know about the Group B strep - there isn't a routine test for it is there?

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 19:45

Water, water and more water, Natty. I had an awful time of it last week and after drinking lots of water cos there were ketones in my wee, the BH have all but gone. Still feel the odd tightening once or twice a day, but they landed me at the hospital twice last week thinking bub was on its way!

I've not felt anything around my c-section scar....but it is still very numb in that area, even after five years...so not noticed any pain or whatever. Maybe you should mention it to you mw at next appointment

good news about the normal delivery...I'm trying for one as well, but want to avoid being induced as this bumps up your chances of needing one, although the stats at my hospital are 80% for VBAC which is pretty good I think. regardless of C-section or not...you should take it easy lifting boxes as your bits won't quite be in order that soon. Can you draft in an army of helpers so that you can direct proceedings? sorry to hear about being evicted....hope you've got somewhere else to stay.

Bumper...that's one of my favourite books....DS has got it and I remember buying it for my nephew 20 years ago!!

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 19:45

Natty...meant to say lovely name...I take it you're sure tht your bump is a girl then?

catsuitgirl · 03/05/2007 19:53

Hello!!

Sorry, not posting much at the moment, but I am checking in on a regular basis - it's just addictive and then i don't get any work done and then my 'finishing work' date slips back and back and back and back...

Sorry to hear about rubbishc consultants - it's a minefield, it really is. On that note, am unsure whether to watch Panorama tonight (a special on midwives and how understaffed they are...) - on one side, informed is good, but on the other side, the last thing I need is to start panicking about labour wards now... Plus, I saw the panorama on the ARGC (infertility clinic)a few weeks ago which was so inaccurate and biased it kind of put me off the programme for life. He's suing them now. Good for him, I say.

Welcome Julie... and I agree with Bumper - you're all in our gang now and you're not going anywhere. Otherwise I'll just get you back with my catsuit super powers

NattyThomasandEllen · 03/05/2007 19:56

yeah we had 2 scans at 21 and 24 weeks, and both said girls, and they we diff hospitals, so im pretty sure. saw her lady bits myself, it looks like a little bum, she was sitting on the screen so you could see one big bum and one little bum lmao!

nowhere to go im afraid as we arnt getting our deposit back so we cant move we dont have the months in advance or the deposit for our new place. so we are relying on the council. oh the fun! so come june 10th we are offically homeless!

whats this mystery shower gift thing! i wanna send someone something!

NattyThomasandEllen · 03/05/2007 20:00

i will be watching it, but taking it with a pinch of salt. mind you i did have a friend who gave birth in a corridor due to lack of beds.. worrying. like i said if i hadnt got the VBAC and GBS (which is routinly tested for in my hospital btw bumper) i would be at home. to be honest if there is no space and ive already had the antibiotics i may well jump in a cab. rather be at home than in a corridor!

notsolilKel · 03/05/2007 20:07

bumper, you're not seriously saying that anti money laundering is interesting? Good Lord I was happy to be pg so I could leave that job!! I was in 'compliance' by the way. Sounds like law enforcement but really was just advising financial firms re the law, regulations (snore, snore....sorry) it's already boring me again to death

N&T&B you're very upbeat for someone about to be homeless with new baby! How do you do it??

notsolilKel · 03/05/2007 20:10

oh and re GBS, I'm worried about it too. Was tested after DS was born and sent to SCBU with breathing problems - turned out I was positive. Was livid that I'd not been tested before the birth and any related complications...though I understand it's impossible to test every woman at the moment of birth and the risk of giving antib to everyone is too high (as far as strengthening the virus). But I'll be asking for my antib's as soon as I hit hospital this time, make no mistake!!!!

NattyThomasandEllen · 03/05/2007 20:15

went through worse with thomas, we were in a damp mouldy cockroach infested bedsit until he was 3 weeks old. being homeless is nothing!

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 21:08

I suppose eveyone has been off watching panorama...I forgot all about it, so busy was I doing paperwork andstuff.

Natty....the secret shower was an idea we got from one of the other ante-natal threads, and Marslady stepped into the breach to do the organising of it for us but I don't think you were around at the time

There have been a few additions to the thread since then so I don't know whether or not a Secret Shower - Part 2 can be organised. I suppose it could if there were enough interested....I'd be happy to collate names and pass them on if there was.
Basically we sent our contact details to Mars. She then passed our details onto another participant. They then bought a wee gift and sent it to that contact name. Its been jolly good fun and exciting waiting for the present to arrive. Personally I've been blown away by the generosity and trust and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy thinking about it

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 21:10

How do you manage to be so cheery Natty?
Can you stay with family or friends or will the council put you in temporary accommodation?

bumperlicious · 03/05/2007 21:15

No panorama for me, watching Peter & Jordan!

bumperlicious · 03/05/2007 21:24

NT&E you really sound sorted even with such a scary prospect. I hope that everything works out for you. Puts my worries into perspective. That said - we haven't mentioned to our landlord about the LO yet. Anyone know if we are legally obliged to? Nothing in contract to say no kids.

riabutterflew · 03/05/2007 22:45

good luck NT&E. Surely you will be a priority with a baby? Hope you can keep smiling (I would be hiding under the table crying, but that's fairly usual for me...) Have you been to C.A.B.?

daisy, did you mention heartburn? Me too. I'm amazed I haven't been sick it's so awful, and I can't take gaviscon as then I would be sick. Shame chocolate doesn't cure it. I have frys chocolate cream (I don't knw if it works but it's minty! I forgot to get one when I went to the shop tonight though).

My BH are a bugger as well. Feel like I might pop any minute.

Have been embracing my de-cluttering to the extent that my sis thinks I'll be in labour shortly, not true, have just been rediscovering my old borderline OCD self that has spent so long in the camp of can't-be-arsed that everyone has forgotten how tidy my house used to be pre-DS2.

riabutterflew · 03/05/2007 23:17

nite all.x.

Seansgirl · 04/05/2007 07:57

My god, wasn't it quiet last night? It has only taken a few minutes for me to catch up this morning for a change!

Hope all slept well despite HB, BHs, aches and pains. I did until 4-5 ish when backache really kicked in, so was quite relieved to get up when DD came bouncing in this morning!

Am going to folow Rias lead and try to get this house a bit straighter this morning! Maybe back later today - if Im not asleep after all the cleaning!

Later girls xx

annobal · 04/05/2007 08:17

Morning all, I've been off-line for a few days as the mac is on the blink - again!! Does anyone else have a macbook and have endless problems with it? It is not even out of warranty yet (thank god) and the hard-drive has gone, the fascia needed replacing as did the battery - I think about the only original part is the screen!!

I'm also having horrendous BHs - I know what you mean Bumper - they didn't hurt like this last time...

I'm off in a moment to drop DS1 to nursery, then take DS2 to tumble tots, then I have a mw appt, then a works inspection, and then I go to pick DS1 up from nursery... Looks like an action packed day for me today.

BadZelda · 04/05/2007 08:17

Morning everyone, hope you all had good nights.

The whole family got to sleep in till 7.30 this morning: w00t! (This is fairly rare) And ZI didn't get woken by anything in the middle of the night, so I feel very refreshed today.

Daisy: have you tried peppermint tea for heartburn? Also mint icecream is good I find - although I haven't been troubled by it tooooo much.

Watched a bit of Panorama last night - but found it way too disturbing, and got too upset for the poor women whose babies had been damaged for life, so had to switch it off and watch Zoolander instead. God I hate Ben Stiller. I want to bludgeon him to death with a blunt instrument!

annobal · 04/05/2007 08:20

I did start watching Panorama but also found it quite disturbing, so switched to Friends .

Must go and get LOs dressed...

hollyandalice · 04/05/2007 08:26

Morning all!!

OMG that Panorama programme had me in floods!! It wasn't just the babies that died, but that poor woman left in a corridor for an hour whilst her contractions were every 4 mins ! I can remember how horrible and helpless I felt when contracting that close together and to have to go through that in a corridor! It made me very sad.

Hope everyone had an ok night!!
xx

Oh and Annobal - on the Macbook front, if you have had to send it back 3 times, they ought to send you a new one - that is Apple policy, so worth chasing up. They do suffer from trying to get products out too fast, so they're not ALWAYS brilliantly assembled...but their customer support isn't too bad I find?
