Mee too. Oh, when will it end. Please lets not suffer with it right the way through, I couldn't bear it. Just had a doze and woke up feeling worse. I need something to eat but haven't got a clue what to have. I fancied Spag Bol earlier but now I just don't know. All I know is is that i'm hungry.

lou33 · 31/08/2004 17:16

Hello DG . Only thing that worked for me (enough to be able to lift my head if not to eat, and be mobile) was acupressure bands, and anti sickness pills from the gp.

aprilmeadow · 31/08/2004 17:17

Spag Bol does sound rather nice. In fact thats what i might have as our freezer packed up over the weekend and i have to use the mince up tonight

DelGirl · 31/08/2004 17:18

Thanks Lou . I'm already wearing the bands . Am seeing the midwife tomorrow for my 1st appointment and will go in with a list!!!

Seabird · 31/08/2004 18:25

Went to the park this afternoon feeling more nauseous than ever, and ended up vomming about 6 times, then in the car on the way home (stopped at traffic lights), and now am still dry heaving at home Poor dd (who started crawling yesterday in our non-childproofed home, which really helps!) is munching breadsticks as every time I open the food cupboard I have to run to the loo. Luckily dh is on his way home.

I take it all back - actually being sick IS worse than just feeling nauseous!

I have a date - 27th April!

GP said there's no point in a scan yet. She also said that no-one gets ms this early, so I don't entirely believe her (I'll send you round to her Delgirl!). However the wisdom of MN has convinced me not to go for a scan tomorrow. That means waiting at least two weeks now, so I will have to comfort myself with good positive pg symptoms!

DelGirl · 31/08/2004 20:17

Perhaps you should tell your GP about this site and all the sadly deluded women who only think they have m/s then . If only. Good news about waiting for the scan. Maybe they can fit you in around your work so they wont have to find out. Could you say you have a dentist appt?

Seabird it must have been awful. I was speaking to a lady today (she's the sort if you have a cold, she has bubonic plague) she said that she was sick everyday throughout her pg and the day after and that it is worse than just feeling sick. After what you've said, I believe her . However, she's a person that doesn't take advice well. She was told to have bed rest (this was 30 odd years ago) but she told them she wouldn't as she's someone who never sits still. They ended up putting her on numerous valium to slow her down. Sorry, i'm rambling, can you tell I live on my own

and as if that wasn't enough I go and post twice, again!

fisil · 31/08/2004 20:25

And she's had two herself, Delgirl!

I just can't miss work in the next two weeks. It is the 1st 2 weeks of term. The first 2 weeks of term are crucial for establishing good working relationships with the students (ie sitting on them until they see who's boss). The EPU opens too late for me to pop in before work and shuts at 1p.m. So yes, I will lie about where I'm going (it is conveniently 6 months after my mc, I see a perfect alibi for going off to the gynae dept.), but I'll leave it a couple of weeks now.

DelGirl · 31/08/2004 20:28

They sometimes scan on a Saturday morning but probably only for emergency's though

xoz · 31/08/2004 20:35

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good long weekend.
Seabird and all you others, I'm sorry you're all feeling so bad with the m/s. It's nightmare stuff hey???? thankfully mine hasn't fully kicked in yet....
I think I have found the worst smell ever though... the dirty clothes bag after a camping weekend!!!!! yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck
I had to face this today after going to the Brecon Beacons for the weekend. Thankfully my m/s wasn't too bad when we were there, and I got to choose where we went for dinner each night (just so I would eat something) so there was an up side.
I've started telling people (I have no self control!) Told my pals at toddler group last Wed (dh would KILL me if he knew) then my parents on Fri. dh hasn't told his parents yet as we were away ove rht w/e and that's when he usually talks to them. I think it's really a bit early but I couldn't help myself!

miranda2 · 31/08/2004 20:59

I've started telling loads of people too! Only 5 weeks 5 days but so far - dh's parents, my dad, two friends (who live far away but are on the end of the phone), dh's brother and wife, and a friend we saw last week, oh and my boss. NO self control at all! I'm keeping it officially secret - no announcement at work etc, (ie, ONLY my immediate boss knows, not all the team), and so far have managed not to tell local friends to stop it leaking out. Will tell my mum and all our friends at a wedding next week probably.

Seabird · 01/09/2004 08:00

thanks for the sympathy, girls - carried on being sick all evening and it turns out it's a bug - dh started throwing up at midnight! Pretty horrible but am relieved it's not going to carry on like this for the next x weeks. Thankfully dd seems to have been spared so far - touchwood! Currently sucking on an ice cube which I'm desperately hoping to keep down.

Delgirl - love your posts, you never ramble!

Fisil - tricky about your scan. Hope you manage to sort something out.

bronniemuldoon · 01/09/2004 10:12

Really bad luck seabird - to have a sickness bug on top of m/s is pretty hard. I'll try not to moan today as you sound like you've got it 10 times worse. Hope you start feeling better soon...

Fisil - good news you've got a date although your doctors sounds like she needs a kick up the bum. She's obviously very lucky and never had m/s - grrrr. I'd be tempted have given her a piece of my mind - nothing worse than a hormonal pg woman to get riled up! Hopefully the next 2 weeks won't go too slowly and you scan will roll round before you know it.

Thanks for the offer of the preggie pops aprilmeadow, I'm attempting to have a healthy day today! Trying to cut back on the sweets, chocolate, cake blah, blah, blah as I tried on my jeans this morning and managed to get into them but with a very attractive roll of fat spilling over the top - they have now been relegated to the back of my wardrobe for the next year and a half!!!! Aaaagggghhhhh.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only once who can't keep a secret out there and other people are starting to tell. We've still limited it to my mum and MIL but plan to tell my dad and DH's dad in the next couple of weeks - I'm 8 weeks 3 days so fingers crossed all will be OK. Still, if anything did happen we'd tell them all anyway so might as well tell them we're pg. Sorry this is turning into a mammoth train of thought ramble. Off to eat some crackers and cottage cheese at my desk... mmmmmm.

nellyk · 01/09/2004 11:53

Waiting for my scan date is painful, I really can't wait. I see the midwife soon so maybe she will have some more info. Not even sure if we get it at 12 or 20 weeks in my area as the GP seemed unsure.

Fisil - I think you made the right decision to wait even though it is was a hard one. I went for a scan at about 6 weeks at the EPU and they couldn't see anything so had to do an internal scan (uncomfortable) and still couldn't see a heartbeat. I went on to have a m/c but they did say it is not unusual not to see a h/b at that stage.

Have also started to tell people about being p/g. Just not the world. That can wait.

acnebride · 01/09/2004 15:25

just couldn't resist popping in to say hello... my sister is due on april 17th with her first, her catchword is 'sick and shattered' right now but we are all v excited... i was also an april baby many years ago and it's the best!

Seabird · 01/09/2004 18:16

Acnebride - hope you told your sister to come and join us

Well despite our sickness, dh and I managed to struggle to our scan (a few stops on the tube with dd felt like an expedition to Peru!)... AND ... we saw our weeny little baby with its little beating heart We even got a picture

So despite feeling like utter poo still, I'm feeling quite smiley inside (In case you hadn't noticed.)

fisil · 01/09/2004 18:18

Ah seabird, that's wonderful. That must have been such a beautiful moment!

I'm feeling shit today. Feeling grotty around that area and generally tired and nauseous. Sure it's a bad sign. Or maybe it's just the thought of going back to work!

Seabird · 01/09/2004 18:38

Thanks fisil. Sorry you're feeling crap - your symptoms sound "positive" though I'd have thought? I've had abdominal pains/discomfort for weeks (unlike with dd), which is why I arranged the early scan (I'm 8wks+5), but it would seem it's just the good old hormones wreaking havoc with my insides. It must be hard for you starting the new year feeling under par. Hopefully you'll feel a lot better after your scan.

My sister should also be joining this thread with her first, but I've seen no sign of her yet... (not that I'm stalking her or anything..!)

DelGirl · 01/09/2004 21:37

Sorry to hear about your bug Seabird. Hope you're feeling better soon, oh and thanks for the vote of confidence

Well, quite a few people I know, know! Mainly because of my history and because they know i've had treatment and they've asked. I've had mainly positive responses but a few negative ones too which is hard to deal with but there you are, some from people who've asked me if I am and then are a bit dismissive iyswim. Hopefully once i'm past 12 weeks it'll get easier

Fisil - i've had pains like that most of today and it is a worry but I saw the midwife today and she said it was quite normal so try not to worry, yeah right!

Well I had my 1st midwife appointment today, she's very nice thankfully and i'm going to be looked after by her and a consultant so i'll get extra checks and scans which is great. I didn't even have to ask. Got my 'Emma's diary but she'd run out of the other stuff. I know i've read all this stuff before but it does make it a bit more real. I have my 1st scan on Monday which i'm quite nervous about but it will be nice to see him/her even if he/she or both does look like a broad bean . Oh and the m/s was bl**dy awful this morning but thankfully eased off late afternoon hoorah (and then worry cos you want the symptoms to be reassured). I'm going to print this and subsequent threads off to keep as a momento

xoz · 01/09/2004 23:08

Seabird, I hope you're feeling better soon. It must have been so nice to see you're baby!!!
I went to see my GP (it was a locum though) the day after I got my BFP, and I still haven't heard anything from anyone about appointments or midwives or scans. I'm now 7.5 weeks. Should I have heard something by now???? With dd2 the midwife came to the GP's surgery (the area we lived in had so many pg's all the time they just had it there rather than making everyone go to the hospital) but we have since moved away from there (Scotland to England), so I really don't know what I should expect. It is my 3rd pg and the first 2 were uncomplicated, so I thought maybe they just think I don't need too much attention until nearer the end, but now I'm starting to wonder if maybe the locum hasn't bothered to do the paperwork? Is it too early to have heard anything yet?

nellyk · 02/09/2004 07:43

Seabird it must have been great to see your wean, even worth the tube journey.

xoz - in my case the doctors told me to make an appointment with the practice midwife. The GP sent a letter to the hospital to arrange a scan etc (not that I've heard anything about THAT yet). How about ringing the surgery to double check what the procedures would be??

fisil · 02/09/2004 07:56

xoz - my GP told me it could be up to 5 weeks until I heard from the hospital. Last time I heard at 7 1/2 weeks (it arrived the same day as my mc was diagnosed ) but she reckons it could be much later. HTH.
