Hello!

Have tested very early so not surprised to have to start this one off! Due 8 April I think.

Anyone joining me?

Hi girls, sorry to hear that some of us are feeling dead ropey. I've not suffered with m/s yet, but ohmygod sore boobs! Got them measured last week, and it turns out i have got porn-star measurements (32dd for god's sake) - dh v pleased - not that he's allowed near them!

I've had my 1st scan date confirmed for 20 September - can't wait - think I will be 12 weeks then.

Have told a couple of friends, but not family yet, am going to try and wait till after the 12-week point (am bursting though!)

M
xx

Hello all, sorry so many are feeling sick.
I'm just totally exhausted. At work and wondering how I'll make it to the end of the day. Maybe a trip to the canteen will help. Have just got back from holiday too so that could be it.

bronniemuldoon · 02/09/2004 15:36

Great news Seabird! Bet it was great to see the "jumping bean".

LOL munchk2n - still waiting for porn star status - mine just seem to be a bit droopy with nipples like doorknockers (hold that thought!) I reckon I could give Posh a run for her money - in the pointiness stakes I hasten to add, not the perkiness (unfortunately)....

Poor DH is not allowed anywhere near them or anywhere else for that matter as I'm feeling so sick all the time. You know that horrible queasy feeling when if somebody tries to rub your back it makes it 10 times worse. Think we're both really looking forward to week 14 when it got better last time!!!

Seabird · 02/09/2004 17:54

Glad to hear you're getting well looked after Delgirl - very exciting about your scan on Monday! Good idea about printing off the threads btw.

Seem to have recovered from the food poisoning thankfully - how horrendous was that! Back to "normal" levels of nausea, for which I am temporarily very grateful (roll on October though!)

Nothing at all happening with my boobs. Think dd's (ongoing) b/f'ing has completely numbed them! No size change either - god knows what they'll shrivel to after this one, I've not had them their "natural" size for a year and a half

Welcome and congratulations Mazzymcg. I will be 38 later on this month, so a fellow oldie. Seabird, how lovely that you've had a scan already. My delayed doctor's appointment is not until next week, so I feel very behind on everything. Last time I didn't see a midwife until 12 weeks. Delgirl, I'm glad you midwife's appointment went well. How sad that some people have been negative when you've told them the news, especially after all you've been through. I really admire your determination in having a child - I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for you.

DelGirl · 02/09/2004 21:27

Sorry Seabird, I forgot to say something about your scan. Not alot I can say I suppose, but it must have been wonderful and exciting . I'm glad the sickness has worn off a little but constant nausea is very draining isn't it?

Lol munckin2 - I can say almost the same except i'm not a 32. Don't think I ever have been

Mazzymcg - congratulations and welcome to mumsnet. I'm an oldie too. 38 but will be 39 when this one/two (my 1st) is born.

Azure - thanks. I am quite determined but I have to say i've sort of blindly got through the past couple of years iyswim. I try not to stop and think about it too much {impossible at times)as it is too monumental in a way. The IUI will be nothing compared to bringing up 1/2 on my own I suspect .

mazzymcg · 02/09/2004 21:37

Glad I'm not the only oldie! Can sympathise with the nausea etc - I seem to have all the classic symptoms - sore boobs, nausea, exhaustion, emotional etc. However my boobs don't seem to have changed size at all either. Mind you, last time they went from a 36B to a 36DD and settled at 34D since I stopped breastfeeding, so I'm really hoping they don't grow any more!

mitzi · 02/09/2004 21:51

Seabird, great news about the scan and glad you arw feeling better.
Hope everyone else is feeling ok despite the MS and the sore boobs.
I've got my first appointment with the midwife on tuesday and I got my scan date through yesterday which is not till the 18th October so much for requesting an early scan i will be 14 wks.
I have still got chronic ms i just dont know how i get through the day and my boobs are absolutely killing me.My poor dh can't even look sideways at me without me snarling at him, but it will all be worth it in the end.

nellyk · 03/09/2004 07:43

welcome mazzymcg. Mitzi, I actually felt shocked by your scan date, it seems so late!! Having said that I've not get mine yet at all.

It's good to be able to type away on mumsnet, not having had any real m/s or seen midwife yet or really told many people, it helps make me actually 'feel' p/g.

Good luck for Monday, DelGirl and the first sight of your baby (babies!!).

mazzymcg · 03/09/2004 08:10

Good luck with you scan Delgirl - I am also having mine on Monday - will hopefully be able to relax a bit once it's over!

Tallbird · 03/09/2004 08:57

Another 'oldie' here - will be 37 in October

Roobie · 03/09/2004 09:58

I'm yet another 'more mature' mum (in body only!)- I'm 36.
I've got my first doctor's appointment next Friday 10th (during my 9th week) so by the time I get a midwife appointment and get my first scan scheduled in I guess it will be approaching Christmas! We only get a 20 week scan in this area anyway so it's not as though there is any rush to get in the system in time for a 12 week scan.
My day long "m/s" is definitely worse on Thurs and Fris when I am not at work. I think because I have more of a routine, an early rise, early breakfast, defined lunch etc and am very busy at work it helps to keep it as bay. But somehow I can't bring myself to get up so early on my days off so I tend to mope around the house struggling with everything (including a 2 year old dd!!). I really should get my act together.
Hope everyone is coping and congratulations about your good news scan Seabird.

nellyk · 03/09/2004 11:48

One negative of an Easter baby is the start of your maternity leave doesn't really get to include the Christmas and New Year period.. My employer asks that you take all your 2005 holidays before mat leave starts which means you get less time off.

ie if you were having a baby in late 2004 you could start mat leave 2 weeks before EDD and still get to take a couple of weeks off as 2004 hols meaning you get to finish work say a month before the birth and still get nearly 18 weeks (or whatever length of mat leave you want) after the birth. And still have all your 2005 hols as well. Hope this makes sense????????

Of course the positive side of it all is you get a newborn all of your very own

fisil · 03/09/2004 13:44

blood. I just don't know. There's enough, it's pink/brown. I just don't want to go through all that again.

on hold to NHS Direct for 6 minutes, the the call handler said "hello, oh sugar" and the line went dead. On hold again.

DelGirl · 03/09/2004 13:54

I never thought of that Nellyk. I was planning on taking at least 9 months off (wish it was now lol) but I may take the year, not sure yet. The other thing i'm planning on doing is leaving 11 weeks before the birth, I think thats the maximum time you can have isn't it? I know alot of women take off only a couple/few weeks off before so they can have longer after but a friend who had a baby fairly recently said that next time she'd definitely have the whole 11 weeks off and she recommended that I do too.
We'll see, if I feel ok then I may work longer but, I doubt it . Can you tell I love my job!

Sorry to hear about your m/s Roobie, it's awful isn't. I had a couple of hours grace yesterday but today omg. Anyway, I shan't go on, think i've bored half the population to death with talk of m/s lol.

Mazzymcg - good luck with your scan too .

Hope everyone has a sick free & pleasant weekend!

Oh Fisil, I really hope it's not the worst news. Are you at work? If so, get home. I don't know whether there is much you can do at this stage other than wait and rest. What about phoning your GP, who may have contacts at an EPU unit? Take care and fingers crossed it's just a scare.

Roobie · 03/09/2004 14:01

Oh fisil, how worrying...! You've had m/s though haven't you? Just hold onto that as a good sign for the moment and try not to get too stressed. Easier said than done, I know. Our bodies are cruel aren't they?

DelGirl · 03/09/2004 14:02

me too fisil, spent so long typing my own, I didn't see it. Have you got an EPU near you that you can just go to? Is the St Georges an EPU?

THinking of you, hope everything will be ok, sure it will be (((hugs))))

fisil · 03/09/2004 14:05

I have contacts at EPU, actually, the receptionist at St George's. She only works til 1p.m. Should I ring her desk and see what I get or try her at home?

Finally got through to NHS Direct and waiting for their call.

Feeling a bit more chilled now as I remember with ds I also bled at 6 weeks. I also called NHS and they were very comforting. They told me to rest, I said it was my bf's wedding the next day so they said not to drink or dance to be safe. Weird thing is that that bf is one of ds's godparents. His other two godparents are getting married tomorrow, and I was planning on wearing the same dress (which I've only worn the once before). Very strange.

Which is a nice way to distract me from how scared I am!

xoz · 03/09/2004 15:26

oh dear fisil, I hope you're okay. Keep us posted.
I got a letter from the hospital yeterday, and I have my "booking in" appointment on Sat week and the midwife is coming to our house to do it!!! I've never heard of that before.
I don't know if I qualify as an older mum - I'm 33, so I suppose maybe I'm borderline.
Best of luck to all those who are having scans next week too.

miranda2 · 03/09/2004 15:52

Best of luck fisil - really hope its OK.

mazzymcg · 03/09/2004 16:53

Fisil - hpe everything is ok. Got my fingers crossed for you. I think though it's quite common at about 6wks?
Xoz - When I ws pg with dd I had my booking in appointment at home - I think it varies depending on area - saves you treking down to the surgery/hospital anyway! I think 33 is counted as "young" these days (lucky thing!). As I understand it, once you hit 37 you're officially "elderly". Boo hoo
