Thank you Azure...

That might explain the sickness then.

Perhaps i will go without tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. Any advice welcomed

Seabird · 26/08/2004 17:43

I'm with you fisil, can't stand the thought of tea or coffee. V bizarre stopping at Starbucks when shopping with my mum and having sparkling water!

poor you aprilmeadow - sounds like you've got it bad. Mine's constantly with me too (and I also feel sick if I eat too much), though I have better days. I have stocked up on loads of stodgy readymeals like toad in the hole which I'm now bound to go off by the weekend!

I think I've had 1 cup of tea and a couple of cups of decaff since I had my treatment. Usually drink decaff anyway but not bothered now and stick to water/squash mainly but even squash is making me gag at the mo

xoz · 26/08/2004 20:22

I don't really drink coffe except socially, so now it's "a glass of water for me please"! Like fisil the thought of tea makes me feel ill and the smell make me dry retch!!! (I don't normally drink it anyway)
Seabird, I was having similar problems to you over the weekend. My pg book says that it's prob constipation/wind (sorry TMI) caused by the excess amounts of progesterone rushing around our systems! Recommended course of action, avoid RAW vegetables, esp root veggies (eg carrot), (have them lightly steamed instead) and drink lots of water to keep everything well hydrated. I have been doing this since Sunday and feeling much better.
Tonight's craving was for boiled eggs and salad cream!!!!

nellyk · 27/08/2004 07:43

I feel a bit of a fraud only having vague nausea and not full on m/s. I find nothing really helps, certain things can take the edge of it but then the thought of what you've just eaten makes you feel queasy all over again. I think you just have to have what you do or don't fancy.

I don't know how those of you with full on m/s manage, has any one had to phone in sick yet to work?? And the SAHM's I don't know how you could poss cope!!!!

I used to drink quite a bit of tea but have now gone right off it. Would never drink coffee or coke while pg, too worried about caffeine.

Twiga · 27/08/2004 09:28

Miranda2 - just nipped across to see if there was any news on how you're doing, and things appear to be good - so pleased things are ok with you, take care x

aprilmeadow · 27/08/2004 11:00

Good Morning Girlies.

I have been on the net trying to find something that will rid me of the nausea feeling. I found two things that i hope will work, if not then its back to the drawing board!

The first one is a homeopathic remedy called Sepia - wont tell you what its made from.... - that should arrive tomorrow - you take it first thing in the morning - just put on your tongue and let it dissolve and lie in bed for ten mins. Then take throughout the day when you feel sick, but no more than 3/4 times a day.

The second item is something called 'Preggie Pops'. They are a herbal remedy lolly pop thats apparantly helps. They come in different flavours: Sour fruit, Ginger, Mint, Green Tea and Lemon, Sugar Free Raspberry and SF Ginger.

If they work i will let you know

Roobie · 27/08/2004 12:40

My day off today so am having a guilty hour on the PC having plonked dd in front of CBeebies (bad mother!). Has anyone tried this for morning sickness?
www.morningwell.co.uk/
Has it been discussed elsewhere on here and moreover, does it work? I am starting to feel really grotty now and it could become a major embarrassment at work if I can't function on a relatively high level.

Seabird · 27/08/2004 12:53

Look forward to hearing the results of your research, aprilmeadow

How are all your DPs coping with the m/s? Mine is definitely starting to get sympathy fatigue. I've told him I can cope with a lack of verbal sympathy as long as he's practically supportive eg cooking all dd's meals over the bhol weekend to save me the waves of nausea it brings on!

fisil · 27/08/2004 18:38

How is DP coping with ms? Bought me a bottle of champagne yesterday - to congratulate me on GCSE results. I asked if I could save it til 2nd trimester but he looked so hurt that I sipped at it last night (while he had 3 glasses followed by many smelly liquors!)

Hi folks. Well this m/s thing, though a good sign, is starting to wear me down. I haven't actually been sick just have felt almost permanently nauseous 24/7 since last Sunday. I'm also carrying around two very painful enormous melons on my chest . Oh the joys. I am really pleased though, honest. How is everyoone else?

Azure · 29/08/2004 13:50

Still not much m/s for me - I wish I could be pleased about that rather than worrying about it being a bad sign. DS was 3 on Friday and we had a party for him yesterday, which he loved. I seemed to spend the whole day catering and have to work today, so it's just as well I'm feeling ok. Tired, though - I was in bed by 9.45pm last night. DS has been waking up at around 5.30am recently, which doesn't help. Couldn't bring myself to tell my family I was pregnant - I don't really want to admit it to myself, in case it doesn't work out. I'm only just 6 weeks - it seems an age already!

fisil · 29/08/2004 16:14

Azure - I agree it seems like an age! And I've fallen asleep at 8:30 the last two nights!

Delgirl - talk about melons. Mine are soooo big and sooo painful, it seems like it's all happened overnight! I can't believe I've already started wearing a bra to bed! I went to get fitted today to try and reduce the pain - and I've already gone up two cup sizes! Feel much better already.

Papillon · 29/08/2004 18:52

the summer party babies

wonderful stuff and LOL at the melons!!

the a-z was great to have - thanks again Fisil

fisil · 30/08/2004 20:02

You're welcome, Papillon, hope the relevant pages weren't missing!

Ladies, some advice. I have the opportunity to arrange a scan for myself on Wednesday. I will be 6 weeks, 1 day. If I don't have it this Wednesday then DP might not be able to make it and I would have to miss work which would arrouse suspicion and I just don't want to do at this time of year. But is 6 weeks too early? Has anyone had a scan that early and seen stuff?

DelGirl · 30/08/2004 22:19

Fisil, I had a scan at about 6.5 weeks with my 1st pg. You can see the heartbeat, bit like a star in a black sky tbh. If you can, I would think about waiting another week, only because you should definitely be able to see something by then even if it is only the heartbeat. At 6 weeks, if you're not certain about dates etc there may be a chance you won't see anything and for me, that would be heartbreaking iykwim.

fisil · 31/08/2004 08:53

OH Delgirl. Hmmmm. I'm not certain about dates. But I really really don't want to go next week because missing work over the next fortnight could make for a very stressful year! A heartbeat, however tiny, is all I want to see. Last pg never developed a heart, not even at 9 weeks. So you're right, I would be heartbroken if I didn't see a heartbeat. Hmmmm. I'm about to see my GP, I'll check with her (knowing she'll say there's no point!)

bronniemuldoon · 31/08/2004 12:01

Fisil, I had a scan last pg because of spotting at 7 weeks and we could see the heartbeat but the nurse said it was touch and go at that stage whether we'd be able to see anything so early. I think if you can hang on a bit longer it might make you feel better. It would be horrible not to see anything and then be worrying that things weren't OK when they probably are. It's really difficult though isn't it? You just want to take the opportunity when you can.

Delgirl, interested to see that your travel bands are working - mine just seem to give me wrist ache and I still feel sick - maybe I've not got them positioned correctly. Had a really bad weekend with the m/s - had friends over for a BBQ yesterday and the smell was the worst! Luckily they brought a chocolate cake for pudding so I tucked into that no problem .

This is my first day back at work since last Weds (work part time)and am having real problems pretending that everything is OK. Just counting the minutes till lunchtime till I can escape and not have to pretend.

Has anybody told anybody else yet? We gave in this weekend and told my mum and my MIL as they look after DS on Tues and Weds and will be witnessing me being sick in the mornings. It felt like a real relief. My MIL has already offered to do washing and ironing if I'm not feeling well. Ah, you see, there have to be some perks....

nutcracker · 31/08/2004 12:57

Fisil, i think they could see if you had an internal scan. I had one with Dd1 and everything could be seen fine.

DelGirl · 31/08/2004 13:47

Nutcracker, that is what I had at 6.5 weeks. Like Bronnie says it's possible that she may not be able to see something when infact, everything is ok and I think tha could just add to stress imho

Bronnie, the bands do work, to a point but they're not great tbh but they take the edge of the reeling waves of nausea iyswim. Still m/s with me too, especially bad over the weekend. Also noticed some smells & tastes that are unpleasant. I forgot to take my ginger biscuits (dont like them particularly but they help) to work so bought a packet of Salt & Vinegar crisps (suggestion found on the net). Well, I kid you not, they tasted like ammonia, yuk. Then my boss came over and I swear for a minute he had a strong whiff of ammonia on him too. Must be all in my mind because I couldn't smell it later. My tips for curing m/s? There are none!!!

bronniemuldoon · 31/08/2004 14:33

LOL Delgirl - haven't tried salt & vinegar crisps but not too keen when not pg so not sure it would work for me either. Now give me a tube of sour cream and chive pringles and we're talking. Going to give the bands another go as sitting at my computer feeling sea-sick and trying to smile at people is doing my head in!

Just eaten an enormous sandwich, an apple and half a bag of Maynards Sours and my waistband is REALLY uncomfortable - roll on the day I can sit in a comfortable tent without worrying about it all hanging out...

aprilmeadow · 31/08/2004 16:40

I have the results of my research into products supposed to help with m/s.........

Well everything arrived on saturday much to my surprise.

Sepia Tablets - I took two tablets throughout the day and they made me feel about 1000 times worse! Spoke to the supplier and apparantly this is normal. Tried taking them again today, and have helped a little bit but nothing amazing.

Preggie Pops - RIP OFF!!!! These made no difference at all, in fact it would have been cheaper to have bought a big packet of regular fruit lollies!

I have now resorted back to constant grazing. This has lead to me to find some scrummy new choccies by called Cadbury Snaps. Choco Orange are the nicest!!!

bronniemuldoon · 31/08/2004 17:07

Ah that's a shame Aprilmeadow, I was hoping one of them might work - quite fancied the sound of the lollies!

aprilmeadow · 31/08/2004 17:09

Bronnie - i will quite happily send them to you if you want to try them
