Anyone joining me?

mazzymcg · 03/09/2004 16:56

Delgirl - just seen your post - I'm also planning on finishing work 11wks before (finish at Xmas and take hols to extend it) and will then take the max after. I worked up to 3weeks before last time (I think - it's so long ago now!) but am 7 yrs older now and desperate to finish already!

Azure · 03/09/2004 17:15

I finished work 2 weeks before the due date last time (although DS was then 6 days late), as I wanted to take my maternity leave (and money) after he was born. My booking-in appointment with the midwife was at home last time as well, but I've no idea about this time as I'm in a different borough.

fisil · 03/09/2004 18:49

Thanks everyone. GP has written to EPU and we will go there tomorrow morning. We're not sure about taking ds - probably will (better than telling anyone at this stage!). No more blood. Probably just one of those things. But still, it really scared me, and warned me to slow down. So I'm off now to veg on the sofa for the evening!

xoz · 03/09/2004 18:58

Glad to hear that fisil. Yes go sit on the sofa and DON't move. You deserve it after what you've been through today. Hope the news is good at the EPU tommorrow.
I finished work at 19 weeks with dd1 and still haven't gone back. (I was supply teaching so I didn't really have to resign or take mat leave or anything) dd1 is now 3.7 and dd2 is 2 at the end of this month. That's the problem really though. Once you've got one child, no matter when you stop work, you still don't actually STOP working do you????
SO mazzy I've only got 4 years to go until I can take the pension then???

Seabird · 03/09/2004 21:02

Oh Gosh fisil sounds like you've had a very traumatic day . Definitely a good sign that the bleeding's stopped though - I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - really really hope it gives you the reassurance you need and deserve.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes after my food poisoning and re my scan.

Oh and Welcome to Mazzymcg . Any more ladies out there due in April? Come and join us before I post an updated names & dates list!

It's dd's Naming Ceremony tomorrow (houseful of relatives, godparents & champagne ) so am really hoping the nausea stays under control...

For the record, I've just turned 34 so I guess that makes me middle-aged.

Fisil, haven't logged on for a couple of days but just seen your posts. Hope all is OK and that your scan went OK today. I had spotting at 7 weeks last time and know how scary it is. As everybody else says, put your feet up and take it easy! Fingers crossed for you.

Welcome everybody new! Lovely to have more people on board. Hope the scans go well this week (Delgirl & Mazzymcg). I'm jealous. Will have to wait till 20 weeks for mine or pay out for a nuchal at 12 weeks - still undecided.

BTW I'm 32 - does that make me past it??

mazzymcg · 04/09/2004 19:52

No - 32 is NOT past it!

Seabird · 04/09/2004 21:55

Really hope you had good news today fisil. xxx

Thanks for all your thoughts ladies. Went along yesterday morning with dp & ds for a scan. Sadly it looks like I should no longer be with you ... I should be on the due May 2005 thread instead! We got to see a beautiful beating heart (last one never managed to grow a heart) which just blew us away. As it was only 2.1mm it was dated as 5+4, which means that our due date is now 3rd May. But I think I'll hang around here a little longer anyway, if that's all right with you!

We went onto a wedding afterwards and spent the whole day sooooo excited just turning to each other saying "2.1 mm"!

mitzi · 05/09/2004 10:14

Thats brilliant news fisil,i am so happy for you and your family.xxx

DelGirl · 05/09/2004 10:49

Glad things are ok for you Fisil .

Cant seem to stay on the pc long as it seems to make my m/s worse. Glad all is well with everyone. bfn

Seabird · 05/09/2004 20:20

Fantastic news fisil Looks like all's going to work out perfectly this time. I'm so pleased for you.

Hope all goes well tomorrow DelGirl and Mazzymcg

Although I still feel pretty shit I think I might be feeling a little better than I was. I've been able to face decaf coffee over the last couple of days and I even had a wee taste of champagne at dd's naming ceremony yesterday. Don't think I'm suffering as much as I did with dd certainly - last time it just got worse and worse til it suddenly lifted at 12.5 weeks. Maybe I shouldn't speak too soon though! Hope it eases soon for all of you who are suffering.

So pleased to hear that everything is fine, fisil.

bronniemuldoon · 06/09/2004 10:11

Fantastic news Fisil! How exciting. And you never know it might come early so we'd hate to lose you from the April board.

Seabird. Glad to hear the m/s is abating. Weirdly mine seems to be a bit better this weekend. Think it's because I'm learning to manage it better. This morning made the mistake of getting up and having a shower before eating anything and really regretted it as felt ten times worse again. I think the answer for me has been lots of toast with real butter and marmite (mmmmmm).

Tallbird · 06/09/2004 10:32

Fisil - so glad to hear everything is OK.

Having a terrible day - dd has gone down with chicken pox, and has been up and down all night. Even suggesting any sort of medicine to her creates the most awful tantrum. Not only that, but she was due to start in the nursery class at 'big' school today, and is so disappointed to be missing that. I have the most awful cold into the bargain... things can only get better, I hope.

Tinker · 06/09/2004 10:34

Just catching up on threads. Congratulations to you all, especially fisil and Azure

Seabird · 06/09/2004 11:39

Oh Tallbird what a nightmare You must be feeling terrible. I've got a thumping headache and didn't sleep very well as dd was sick everywhere at 1230am, but it sounds like you've got it worse. Hope you're surviving.

I got some lovely news this morning though, my best friend had a baby girl last night by vbac, so that was really great to hear, especially as she already has a ds.

Yes fisil - you must stay with us!

aprilmeadow · 06/09/2004 11:46

Congratulations Fisil and Azure!!!

Feeling more human for the last few days, i think this is because i have been able to get up when i want and take it slowly! Also down to the fact that i havent stopped munching .

Clothes are starting to feel ever so slightly tight!!

bronniemuldoon · 06/09/2004 14:42

Oooo Tallbird, that doesn't sound like much fun. Your poor DD and poor you! It's times like these that paracetamol just don't cut it do they? What you really want is a big dose of Night Nurse and a day in bed. Failing that, there's always CBeebies if you need a bit of peace and quiet .

Aprilmeadow, glad I'm not the only one with a widening girth!! Think that everyone in work is going to guess before my 12 weeks is up as my pot belly is coming along very nicely.

strawberry · 06/09/2004 15:11

Hello. I'm back from holidays and feeling quite rested. I had been feeling really lousy with ms before we went but the travel bands did help me. I'm now feeling ok and trying to eat regularly which is also helping. Big hugs to those suffering.

I have first scan on Thursday when I will be 9 weeks so fingers crossed that all is well this time.

Have not had chance to catch up with everyone's news but will try to read thru' later.

Azure · 06/09/2004 15:57

Fisil, so glad that everything went well on your scan. I had my doctor's appointment this morning, so have hopefully got the ball rolling. The doctor said that the scan and nuchal fold test is best done between 9 and 11 weeks, which is earlier than I was told when pregnant with DS (scan between 12-13 weeks). Typically I am meant to be on holiday weeks 9 and 10, so am hoping they will fit me on asap on week 11. They won't do an earlier scan, unfortunately. Silly me, I completely forgot to ask what the procedure is with the midwife contacting me, or whether the care is split between the midwife and doctor. Oh well, the scan is the most important thing for me at this stage. I am thinking of mentioning the pregnancy to a few people now - my parents, sister and best friend. I would rather not, but don't like the deceipt. Also, my friend will guess when I see her tomorrow night and next week if I don't drink (she won't buy the old "I'm on antibiotics" fib).

Azure · 06/09/2004 15:58

Glad you had a nice holiday Strawberry. For the first time ever I foolishly left DH to arrange our holiday - needless to say, nothing's been booked yet.

DelGirl · 06/09/2004 16:53

Hello, had my scan this morning and saw one baby in there, 14 mm long with a strong heart, due 21st April. The lady pointed out the head and back but it was a bit unclear at times. wow, wow, wow. I couldn't look at 1st as was terrified of not being able to see anything and I kept looking at her face for clues, the longest few seconds ever but then she said I could look. I felt as if it was happening to someone else and it hasn't really sunk in yet that the little one is inside even with the constant m/s i'm getting which shows no signs of stopping. Have to confess to going into mothercare and buying some jeans as the waist on mine are getting too tight and probably make me feel worse . Really comfy with small side stretch so you can easily get away with them as normal jeans and with button adjusters too.

DelGirl · 06/09/2004 16:57

Hope everything went well with yours mazzymcg

bronniemuldoon · 06/09/2004 17:22

Ah, congratulations Delgirl. How great! Nothing like seeing it on the screen to make it seem real.

Liking the move to maternity clothes, thinking I'm not far behind you at all. It's a good excuse to go shopping .
