Aaargh - we went out last night and had a great time, then got a visitor at 6am (little barstards) - we're now watching Thomas and I'm trying not to be shouty mummy.

Bumper - the difference between BHs and early labour is that labour will be constant (ie under 10 minutes apart) and BHs tend to go away if you relax (this doesn't happen with me - they are worse in the evening) or change what you are doing. BHs also tend not to hurt, just feel a little uncomfortable. They can be brought on by tiredness or dehydration.

I'm also using homeopathy in this labour - I have my Helios kit all ready. I've been seeing a homeopathist during the pregnancy and she has already prescribed a few things from the kit when I've been feeling tired or off colour and they have worked a treat. I haven't used it in previous labours but have heard good things about it - especially Arnica.

annobal · 01/05/2007 07:28

Sorry - x-post, hope you're feeling better soon Fatcatkin.

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 07:50

morning all!! managed a shower & hair wash this morning so feeling quite glossy & groomed (for a change!). It's tough sometimes with DS to look after...

it's making me quite sad to hear that some of you are dissing your antenatal mums' classes. hang in there, keep going to them! the first few I went to, I also felt like a complete weirdo and nobody was particularly friendly. But after 2 or 3 times the ice starts to break. Just start talking to someone! Ask any stupid question. Really. I have such good friends from my local HV's classes... (I did NCT and the NHS ones and for some reason NCT class was tiny/bit worthless - only 3 of us). This time round I'm doing NCT 'refresher' and again there are some truly lovely people in it. As someone else said, at first you all are just feeling completely overwhelmed with it all (in the shite!)

hope you all have a good day - my bump's aching like mad but trying to ignore it. I need 23 more days...

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 08:05

you're right about the classes, Lilkel, generally, but mine were two full days and that was it...not much chance to get to know people really. But the new mums class I did afterwards was great and am still in regular contact with a few of the women...

Not supposed to be on here, but, like a moth to a candle....I just can't resist....

Bumper, take it easy and DRINK LOTS OF WATER.....it really helps. To differentiate...BH or False labour is either regular but not painful, or painful but not regular......the real deal is painful AND regular....Thanks to the April lot for this contraction timer ....I think we'll all be needing it in the weeks to come.

Sleep was crap last night and I'm looking like Keith again....hopefully a bit of slap will amke a difference. Like you Annobal...trying not to be shouty mummy.

Hope you can get some rest today Catkin

Right....see you all about half seven this evening

annobal · 01/05/2007 08:37

Have a good day today everyone. I'm having the first day at home for ages as I have to wait in for the pest control (yep, it looks like we still have RATS, eeuuuuww). AND with only one DS - actually that can be harder work as he needs more entertaining - oh well!

Very excited as I bought a load of stuff off ebay on the weekend for the baby and it has already arrived this morning - all clothes and all very cute

catsuitgirl · 01/05/2007 09:01

Oh, you guys make my morning. Am rationing at the moment and funnily enough I've discovered a direct correlation between number of mumsnet posts I write and work done. last two days have stuck to one or two posts and am now thinking I might actually finish my projects by the middle of May. Is hard, though. Very hard...

Know it was many, many posts ago, but LOL at pooing out your baby. NCT teacher told us that giving birth felt like having large poo (funnily enough, she didn't mention the pain bit), so seemed pretty relevant to me!

Not much else to report - although, having initially accepted consultant's view that I should be induced early, am now not so sure... thinking about getting a second opinion. Not wild on all the drips and length of the process and not sure is best thing for LO...

ps, Ria, Footloose is my all time favourite film - watched it about 100 times as a teenager and STILL know every line off by heart

riabutterflew · 01/05/2007 09:14

Sorry catkin, I didn't really get it (Footloose). I didn't get the one about the welder last week either. Apparently Top Gun tonight so I'll be ok (I probably know every line to that!)

I am not supposed to be here atm, was just catching up while I logged in to email to check on poorly godson (no news so will be back at lunchtime!). DH has helpfully emptied the top of our wardrobe all over the bedroom so I have to do something (sadly there is now no room to move - men do not do rational thought). So must go and sort it out. The good news is I have found the missing baby clothes (OK, so they are all boys, but there are a few yellow/green things and if I need pink they will be ok for spares with a pink cardi?)

Til later - have a good morning!

riabutterflew · 01/05/2007 09:15

sorry, catsuitgril, not catkin
Told you I was easily confused!

hollyandalice · 01/05/2007 09:17

Morning all! Sorry I left a bit quickly last night, I went to strip the wallpaper in our bedroom!! Random I know, but I felt the need!

No sign of the hairclip yet, hopefully it'll turn up this evening or tomorrow morning!

Yes catsuitgirl, having a baby feels like you are having the biggest, most painful poo ever! That's why so many people poo during labour, you use the same muscles.

Right, gonna try and catch up on what I missed last night!

hollyandalice · 01/05/2007 09:29

Just read katy's birth story! PMSL at the outfit she wore to hosp!

Bumper you will def know when BHs become the real thing! The real ones feel like they are doing something IYSWIM and they bloody hurt and just keep on coming!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 09:37

Hey Daisy! No-one else is going to say it (they are all too polite ) Bugger off! - you did say! Meant in a nice way BTW, it wouldn't be the same if you weren't here til later!

I agree with Lilkel on the classes, you need to stick at them, my HV class was the best - only saw my mate from there yesterday (and thats 4 years on from our classes!)

Sorry to here I am not alone in the feeling crap area, really did not sleep well, everything aches after a while in bed - so annoying when you are soooo tired. Just done 10 mins of ironing and my back is killing me - time for a quick internet shop and a cuppa

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 09:39

Hi Holly, poor Alice - hope she is ok and the poo when it comes not too sore [whince emoticon]

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 10:03

I'm not lurking...honest

I'm too bloody tired for housework...so have just done some shopping....bought a baby monitor and new digital camera from boots....and got £20 in advantage points...bargain

Only thing I need now is some cream fitted pram sheets and some toiletries for my hospital bag...and that's me all set for take-off.......yikes yikes and bloody yikes...May baby total now up to 5....FFS!!

hollyandalice · 01/05/2007 10:20

Isn't getting out the bath difficult? I could do with one of those bath lift things you see advertised during Countdown!

I am with seansgirl on the classes, my ante-natal ones were a pile of poo and full of unfriendly people, but my new mum group was fab! Made some really good friends there. Would still see them if I wasn't a social recluse!

How very organised of you daisy! I am not buying a baby monitor, they just feed my paranoia!

hollyandalice · 01/05/2007 10:22

Shit, I cut myself shaving my legs! Not done that for years! Obviously can't lift my leg up high enough to see behind my thigh any more!

riabutterflew · 01/05/2007 11:12

I'm not lurking either - cup of tea break! I had trouble cutting my toenails this morning and had to do a couple by feel!

Later x

BadZelda · 01/05/2007 11:14

Oddly the hairs on my legs seem to have stopped growing during pregnancy? Very strange.

Pelvic floors ladies! Know I keep going on about them...but I'm convinced the fact that I've been doing them EVERY day assiduously is the reason I haven't had crippling backache / sore hips / SPD this time...backache, I should point out got much WORSE when breastfeeding cos sitting in the same position for hours really puts a strain on your back... having said that I'll probably start suffering now, but so far sleeping fine, no pain getting around/out of bed etc and can still ride my bicycle. Of course this could all be a crock of shite and the reason I haven't been semi-disabled this time is cos I'm carrying the baby differently - but I don't think so.

Oh - and as we're into May now, weren't some of the londoners up for a nice picnic in the next couple of weeks? Catsuitgirl? Foxy?

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 11:55

Oh pelvic floor [clenching emoticon]!

I'm not lurking either! Very of you Daisy if you're finished! Have orderd crib, mattress and some new sheets. Am going to order grobags this aftrenoon. Next on list is hospital bag and blinds and lampshade for LOs room, then hopefully will be prepared for at least the first few days at the very least

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 11:58

Yes, bath difficult as is shaving legs and cutting toenails, and hard skin removal on feet pretty impossible also.

Anyone getting their 'hair' done for the event? Any brazilians? or Californian?

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 12:17

yawn.....stretch.....what time is it???

Lay down on the sofa for a rest after my last post and woke up 5 mins ago.....and still feel tired. I'm now suffering from all over bodyache when I lie down.

Tried to cut my toenails at the weekend and got almighty cramp in my thigh through my contortions...DH had to finish them....hairiness...not a problem for me usually as I'm quite a smooth skinned wee thing usually and I've never had to do my bikini line before. Twice this pg I've had to give myself a bit of a trim and do my bikini line......DH thiinks it's hysterical and that puberty has finally hit...at the age of 38

annobal · 01/05/2007 12:19

Always had good intentions of a nice tidy bush when going into labour but then when it came to it, I figured if I couldn't see it then it wasn't there

Am a bad mother - just catching up on this morning's conversation while having lunch with ds2 (2) and he took a spectacular dive off the chair

Thanks for the pelvic floor reminders - think everyone will be clenching as they type tonight

annobal · 01/05/2007 12:21

LOL Daisy - would love to be having a nap right now but am stupidly making ragu and croissants (bit too early to nest ).

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 12:25

You could always ask the MWs to oblige with a hollywood......after all it used to be standard practice

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 12:33

Has anyone been on H&Ms website.....I wanted to see what sort of BF tops they had and its so bloody infuriating...far too slick and interactive for a luddite like me....I only want to see the bloody clothes....aaaaargh

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 12:46

hi Ladies

thank you so much for welcoming me to the thread. I joined back in March this year, but only 'retired' from work on Friday and now I have another 6 - 7 weeks to wait for Bambino's arrival.

I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face reading all your comments.

This is what I have been looking forward to - being at home, relaxing and joining the chats on Mumsnet.

DH and I have been in the UK for 2 years (we are South African) and have been so busy working and spending selfish quality time in the evenings and weekends, that I never felt the need to make friends - now I feel the need to make special friends - especially with Bambino on his / her way!

Someone mentioned a picnic in London?????
