bumper your man sounds like a true modern metrosexual - i've one of those bikini trimmers/epilators too and they work v v well ... as long as you can see ...

BTW in humble defense of the lovely silly billyz bibs, the backing is not truly plastic like those horrible ones you see at Boots on the cheap - it's nylon and feels more like parachute silk. No crinkling noises. Promise. I feel like sending out samples

have a great day ladies - off to meet my new NCT group for 2nd time mums this morning. Yikes Yikes Yikes it's all going to happen in 22 days!!!!!!!

bumperlicious · 02/05/2007 08:50

He is a good'n, though I still can't get him to wear moisturiser on his dry skin though ! Though the other day he said to me he could imagine himself being a bit of a "shoe person" if he had lots of money! Is my DH gay or have I just had too much influence on him?

That said he does have annoying man habits, like an inability to put things in the bin when empty. If I go into the kitchen to find one more empty milk bottle or juice carton on the side I'm going to have to take drastic action. Oh, and you know those little tops that cover a new (plastic) bottle of milk before you open it. He always leaves them on the side MILK SIDE DOWN so they go all scummy and stick to the side! Urgh! Sorry, I'm been wanting to get that off my chest for quite a while!

Off to have another breakfast! Catch up with you all later and hope the clip has made an emergence Holly!

Rabbitbreath · 02/05/2007 09:18

Good morning you all! Because of the 2 hour afternoon nap yesterday I had too much energy last night and could not get settled in bed, chatting poor DH's head in (hasn't happened in a while as I have been so tired in the evenings!) Slept well, got up at 7am this morning and took him to the station!

Today is the day I am going swimming at the local pool - kind of excited!!!

notsolilKel - I am so happy to hear about the backing of the Silly Billyz bibs as I started to get a bit worried about the other ladies mentioning that the plastic causes fungal infections etc! Scary.

And they are a bit on the expensive side, but I guess it will be worth it as they will last a bit longer I hope as the quality seems good from what I can see from the pictures!

bumperlicious - have a wonderful day at the spa and re your DH - I also have an Angel of a DH - doing everything for me from cooking to helping me getting dressed, rubbing my back etc - we are very fortunate and therefore we will oversee the little irretations such as leaving empty containers in the kitchen etc as these are so minor compared to the blessing of having a wonderful, supportive, loving hubby!

A(n ex-)friend of mine one day said I am smug for saying I have a wonderful DH - how awful of her as I am just so happily married and wish it for every other woman ;---))) Oh well, maybe she was just jealous!

derlor · 02/05/2007 09:21

Morning all,
i'm SO jealous of your impending day Bumper it sounds FAB - i'm booked in for a 1/2 leg and bikini wax tomorrow - not exactly relaxing huh!!!! (couldn't face midwife otherwise - i'm sad like that)
Notso - i'm sure your bibs are lovely it's just me and my crazy phobia!!!
BZ - work hard, not long to go now.....
Daisy/Holly - My DH used to work 2 weeks away then 2 weeks home so i also understand the lone parenting thing - it's amazing how tidy the house always was though!! - no little tops that cover a new (plastic) bottle of milk before you open it left lying MILK SIDE DOWN so they go all scummy and stick to the side! Urgh! when HE was away!!!!! - get that all the time NOW - WHY WHY WHY!?!?!?!?
i've been up half the night with my sick DS - he has been unwell for 3 days now and his temp is still spiking all the time - he never complains and i just feel so sorry for him, taking him to doc's later
DD's head looks not too bad today thankfully - i LOVE arnica cream a necessity for parents of toddlers + IMO.
oh i'm ramblng now - off for a bowl of Special K..

riabutterflew · 02/05/2007 09:22

Why do men all have the same annoying habits? Where do they learn them?

Have a lovely day doing whatever everyone.

Back later when I've done some work!

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:27

Good Morning.....Have a great time at the spa, Bumper....so of you. Think I might book in for a massage...[Daisy drifts off into dreamy reverie...]

I made a nest for myself out of all the pillows I could find last night and slept for 5 blissful hours, waking up in exactly the same position.......so how am I still so bloody tired?...It just doesn't compute .

DS a right horror this morning.....that and the constant weeing and it makes for not a happy Daisy at all....I think he may be feeling the impending birth a bit more than he's letting on. Must try not to talk about the baby too much and focus on him a bit more as I think he may be feeling a tad pushed aside by it all.

How is the poo situation in your house Holly?.....anything?.....

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:31

It's something that they learn from their mothers always tidying up after them....I'm determined that DS will be independant and capable....I make him wipe up his own spilt wee around the toilet

My DH is pretty good on the whole...(toilet training obviously excepted). It's usually me who leaves mess and clutter everywhere ....

But then again, until we got married two years ago, his mum used to come over twice a week and clean and iron for him.......he's gonna be 40 this year so he got used to having a nice house

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:36

Hope your LO gets better soon Derlor.

Arnica cream rocks...I was always a bit sceptical about homeopathic remedies, but sis gave me some for a bruise when I caught my hip on the corner of a table and had a huge purple bruise. I applied it leberally, then when I yook my jeans off later, the bruise had visibly faded where the seams had been lying and obviously applying more pressure. Now I'm sold on the stuff ad carry it everywhere. DS calls it magic cream

I also used the Nelsons teething granules when DS was teething and they worked wonders too.....

I've sticked up with arnica tabs for post delivery.....and may get one of those kits Foxt linked to the other day...

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:36

Ha Ha...talking to myself again I see......off to do something productive and housewifey...back later....

Rabbitbreath · 02/05/2007 09:37

Daisybump - I am also sometimes a little piggy - though I like a neat and clean home - not being racist here just stating a fact - it must be because in South Africa most people (especially white people) grow up with maids in the house and ever since DH and I got married we have had a maid as this is the way we both grew up and we currently have a cleaning / ironing lady who comes in once a week for 3 hours as I HATE ironing!!

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:41

you're in good company here Rabbitbreath.....quite a fw on here have a little woman who does....I don't but that will all change when I go back to work...I'm insisting on someone to do the ironing and a bit of light cleaning...as MIL has withdrawn her services since I moved in with DH!!

hollyandalice · 02/05/2007 09:41

Alas no poo yet! Going to wait around for it to show, shouldn't be too long, she is quite regular! Hopefully there'll be a tiny white clip in it!

Bless mystic Red Ranger! Hope he is ok. I'm kinda glad dd is too young to understand what's going on coz I'm sure she'd be the same. She knows mummy has a baby in her tummy, but I don't think she realises it's going to come out and turn her world upside down! Are you going to buy him a present from the baby when it comes? I've heard from other parents that this is a good idea. Hope he stops weeing though, poor daisy!!

hollyandalice · 02/05/2007 09:43

Derlor, glad your dd is ok. I still like you btw!!!

Bumper, you and your spa days!! I am very !

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:45

Yes we are HandA...baby has already purchased a Mystic Force Dragon Megazord (or some such nonsense)....though I think he'll twig that its from us really....I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that LO doesn't arrive before his birthday on 25 May....or the strop from him will be monumental

Big Poo Vibes to Alice...

hollyandalice · 02/05/2007 09:47

Oooo, isn't the baby clever, buying him a super toy?!

Alice's birthday is on the 21st, so I hope this baby is not too early either. I'm really scared, she's going to be 2! That's not a baby any more !

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 09:54

Ah, but you'll have another baby.....and she'll love being a big sister

hollyandalice · 02/05/2007 09:58

I know, hopefully she'll enjoy being a big girl and helping look after her little brother. I'm sure Mystic Red Ranger will be a great big bro too and look after his little sister!

Just found dd's christmas present !! I just showed her the video and she is now jumping up and down like a loon!

foxybrown · 02/05/2007 09:59

Daisy, my boys are desperate for the mystic force dragon mega-sword thingy. Evil Mummy says No. I like my children to have two eyes each! they'll batter each other.

oh, morning all! have been up since 5.20. fucking grumpy.

anyone elses children getting annoyingly clingy? DD won't leave me alone, clinging on to my legs, sitting on (whats left of) my lap. boys were never like this. its driving me mad!

BadZelda · 02/05/2007 10:01

I hate ironing so I just never do any! Although when I was working AND looking after DD I did have a cleaner for a bit: was nice, but a bit costly.

Sing it loud: 4 more working days...though my retainer client wants me to go meet with them on Friday now, and their office is on the 4th floor with a currently defunct lift...may just start on the stairs now...

Have just walked a mile to work as I got on the wrong bus: doh! What an eeeeedjit.

Holly: any sign of hairclip? Can you give little ones diuretics?

With you on husband's strange propensity for leaving empty things around: mine seems to have a phobia about putting things in the recycling bin and throwing away junkmail.

hollyandalice · 02/05/2007 10:03

My dd has always been like that foxy. I can't get her off me sometimes. It's most annoying when I'm trying to cook. She pulls at me and shouts at me and gets in my way. One day I'll end up spilling something on her! I just hope she doesn't remember she used to bf and try and do what the baby does! That could be very interesting (and extremely painful)! Maybe it's a girl thing, or maybe we are super mummies and our dd's love us so much they can't bear to be without us!

foxybrown · 02/05/2007 10:05

mine does that! I'm forever fishing newspapers and cans out of the bin - the recycling bin is only 2 feet away.

Daisybump · 02/05/2007 10:07

There's only so much damage he can do to himself Foxy...although he has come close to bopping me with things before...hence the wooden sword my mum bought him at the armouries museum lives in top of the living room shelves

He's behaving odder by the day....he knows his birthday is in four weeks and that bub is due soon after. I think the weeing himself is all part of the whole thing but I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it...difficult though when you are overly tired and grumpy

hollyandalice · 02/05/2007 10:07

My dp wouldn't even dare throw recycling in the rubbish bin! I would farking kill him! I am extremely anal about recycling and seperate every single piece of packaging into the right bin! It's something I feel very strongly about!

foxybrown · 02/05/2007 10:07

my DS2 was curious about bf, and it felt a bit wierd when he climbed on my knee and pretended to when DD was a baby. I did dribble some on my finger for him to taste, and then he thankfully lost interest.

I don't know why it was strange, I mean I fed him for 6 months, same boobs, same child, just too old. Am never going to be an extreme breastfeeder.

BadZelda · 02/05/2007 10:08

dearest just sent me this link:

bbc news

not sure whether this makes me feel relieved that if all goes well I'll be having a home birth, or selfish that I'll have two midwives whilst women are having to labour alone in hospital for hours because there aren't enough to go around...
