Right off to check out laminate floor prices.... (yawn!)

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:31

Yes, I reckon Holly is either cracking on with stripping in the bedroom (oo-er wallpaper I mean) or she's taken your advice Derlor. Don't worry, I don't think she'll be offended (I do forget we've never actually met anyone on this thread in RL!) but she'll respect your professional opinion.

TV is shite tonight.

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:33

Bloody Hell Seansgirl - you are cracking on with it!

BadZelda · 01/05/2007 21:33

Just had a look at that thread...and I must say I really didn't get on with BabyCentre / etc forums: they just pissed me off with their tickers and oh-so-annoying attitudes. Maybe it's just me, but I was glad to come and discover some real women that aren't afraid to swear, be honest and talk about their poo ;) I think the straw that broke the camel's back for me (and actually got me banned from one forum) was a thread about which people carrier to upgrade to now that people were expecting their little precii...FFS there are more important things to worry about surely?

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:34

oooh, what did you say to get banned BZ??!

BadZelda · 01/05/2007 21:36

I'm too embarassed to tell you actually. But I suspect had I said the same thing on here I would have got 'go and make yourself a cup of tea and have a nice sit down you hormonal wreck' (was in first trimester denial at the time) rather than being tarred, feathered and banned by the oh so fluffy women who suddenly turned into a pack of harpies...

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:40

Must've been good then!

Oh go on, or I'll spend the rest of the night searching fluffy mummy websites ...

hollyandalice · 01/05/2007 21:41

DERLOR I FARKING LOVE YOU AND AM NOT CROSS WITH YOU IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM!! Sorry love I was at my parents' and bro and sis have taken over the house and every available computer so couldn't post! In fact I had to come home as there is nowhere for us to sleep as my sis is in the process of moving house and has filled her room and mine with her stuff as well as Alice's cot! Grrr....

I am going to see if she passes the blasted hairclip tomorrow and if not take her to a&e when dp gets home. She has shown no breathing problems or gagging, so I'm sure its in her digestive tract waiting to pop out! At least I hope it is! I welcome your advice derlor, you were not interfering at all, you are a wonderful person and I'm sure a fab nurse !!!

claire74 · 01/05/2007 21:41

Seansgirl sounds like you've got quite a bit to do - nightmare isn't it. Why do we do this to ourselves? It seemed a good idea 9 months ago, you think pregnancy lasts for ages and we kept putting off the work, beginning of April we thought 'shit best get started' Its going to be a case of 'Stop the clock- baby is here'

Going to go now , as need to lie down, back is killing me.

Anyone else back kill? Any tips? unfortunately can't afford Yoga or pilates, as where we live your looking at 10 pounds a session.

Oh one more thing, so jealous of all of you who know the sex of your baby and have begun buy all the appropriate clothes. Anyone know of where I can buy a unisex sunhat (daisybump?)

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:43

Claire - H&M have lots of great sun hats (with ties)

Good plan Holly, why do these things always happen when DPs aren't around?

No back pain, but got this bloody stitch like pain in my hip back.

Twiga · 01/05/2007 21:44

Foxybrown, dd is 19 and half months old - hoping I'm not moving her too early but don't want her to feel the baby's come along and taken her cot iyswim. She's tall for her age dh is 6'5" so she looks big in her cot already. The bed we've bought is a full size single but is lower than normal single but higher than a junior bed would be - should do her until at least 12 according to shop ass who helped us pick.

The decorating thing is a nightmare isn't it?! We did four rooms before dd arrived last time and poor old dh ended up doing most of it as spd meant very hard for me to get up and down ladders. This time it's just the kitchen but it's a full re-fit/paint and flooring job. Cabinets/appliances all in but again poor old dh stuck with the flooring etc as I'm struggling. When we were talking the other night about why we've done this to ourselves again, dh put it down to a slighly off beat and misguided nesting instinct.

Can't relate to the whole belly button thing, must be weird - I don't have one a such, had a op as a newborn so have a scar where mine would be, it's just gone very wide and flat.

justbeme · 01/05/2007 21:46

Seansgirl - dont do it........ Laminate that is - unless you want to either clean it everyday or dont mind ignoring all dirt/dust balls . When we moved in here the previous owners had even laminated the stairs - we're slowly replacing everything with lovely warm carpet.

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 21:49

Barking thats what we are I think. Its all because we haven't moved that this has started.

BZ, am impressed with your being banned respect. First trimester hormones are a pig. With DD I managed to have a really flaming row (over the phone) with my Next courier over an answer phone message I left her! It ended up with her and her area supervisor refusing to deliver to me! Had to seriously apologise as just couldn't have THAT cut off!

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:50

I put lots of cushions on my DDs bed, and a side bar too - shes 2.6 and has been in it a few months. She gets up every night and comes in to me (not a bad thing as the DP gets into hers taking his unfeasibly loud snoring with him) but I've not got the strength to break this bad habit at the mo.

I don't think we're nesting yet - I think we've been panicking about how life will change beyond recognition and we'll never get the jobs done! I was doing the gloss painting at 7.30 am on sunday and DP said "why are you doing that now?"

Because we've got a deadline! Because I'm not getting any smaller! because tomorrow I probably won't be able to get anywhere near the skirting boards!

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 21:53

I forgot you were going to move, Seansgirl.

Are you glad you knocked that on the head now, or do you still want to?

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 21:54

JB - Thanks, I agree and know what you mean on the laminate - we are planning to have it in family room so that I can clean up food, juice, paint, play doh....etc, but when DH suggested stairs and sitting room I just said - No way!

Twiga, if its any help we put DD in big adult bed at similar age - she loved it, made her feel grown up!

Twiga · 01/05/2007 21:56

Would have to agree re the laminate thing - we put carpet down in the living room before dd arrived as I was fed up with brushing it and thought it would be cosier for a wee one.

hollyandalice · 01/05/2007 21:57

I'm trying to read through everyone's posts, but I can't I'm too tired to concentrate!

Thanks for all the poo vibes guys, she has had lots of raisins and fruit today so hopefully there'll be a nice big poo with a little white hairclip in in the morning!!

I stripped one wall last night and now I can't bring myself to do the rest. Maybe dp can do it on sat whilst I lie in bed and make sure he's doing it properly!

BZ I love how you were banned from a forum. That's so funny. I'd have been banned months ago if this had been a normal place full of sane people! I love how we can say what we like and no-one really gives a shit! After all this is a public forum and we have serious hormonal issues (well I do anyway!!).

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 21:57

X post city! Yes, absolutely glad we called it a day, the thought of packing everything up is really frightening! But still do want to move possibly next summer or autumn. But I suppose that may change again!

BadZelda · 01/05/2007 21:57

R.e. beds - DD moved into hers at 15 months because she'd already worked out how to climb out of her cot but couldn't get back in again - got one of those expanding beds from Ikea which works great, as we can pull it to full length and sleep on it when necessary (I used to climb into her cot with her to put her to sleep sometimes...which was bad for my back!) She does come in and sleep with us horribly frequently though. Also last week she said 'when Matlida's born she can sleep in my bed and I'll sleep with you mummy' which I thought was amusing as she'd obviously been giving it a lot of thought ;)

Twiga · 01/05/2007 21:58

Posts xed - glad to hear a positive bed story! A lot of folk I know have moved their wee ones at a older age and haven't had much pos feedback on moving her this early. Is a bed guard necess? We were going to try without one and see how it goes - know where to buy if a disaster though - jsut that dd is a bit of a climber and think rather than go round the guard she'd try and go over it creating a new prob?!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 21:59

Right, night girls gotta go as my back is really painful sat in this chair! And oops! DH is back, better not find me on here again! xxx

derlor · 01/05/2007 22:00

Holly i feel all warm inside now think i'm going to cry....
i'm currently multitasking as all good women can i'm here - obviously chatting to you lot, ironing, cooking a chicken balti and i just brought in the washing (hence the ironing) oh i'm drinking a wee glass of wine too ssshhhhhh

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 22:00

I'd just given up with DD climbing out of her gro-bag and cot and put her in her bed, when a friend hit on the fantastic idea of turning the gro-bag inside out for her DS so he couldn't undo it. Kicking myself for not thinking of it myself, would have bought me a few more months I reckon!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 22:00

Bed guard - we had one for first six months, she only fell out once when we took it away - and she never woke up!!
