Toasted jam and cheese sandwich - DELICIOUS!!!

When I asked the sandwich shop close to work to make me this combination they looked at me very funny and called it a 'preggie sandwich'

cute

Marmite and cheese is also a winner on toast

and jam and peanut butter (though I have been avoiding peanuts during pregnancy as DH had asthma as a child!)

and just for the record - these combinations are not pregnancy cravings, this is the way we ate sandwiches when we grew up!

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 14:37

where can we buy cheap valcro bibs - I am keeping an eye on E-bay too, currently bidding on 10 New Unisex White Velcro bibs for only about £3 (incl postage) - hope I win the bid! All you E-bayers on this thread - IT'S MINE MINE MINE!!! Hahahahahaaa

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 14:39

PMSL foxy......you crack me up sometimes...

Wish I could join you for your picnic

We need to try and organise a big meet-up for after all the LO's are born....somewhere in the Midlands
I've been talking about bringing DS to London for ages....do the touristy thing with him...London Eye, Buck House, The Tower, St Paul's, Kew...oooh the list is endless, I've not been to London for years. Trying to talk DH into making a weekend of it, but he's in London lots on business regularly and isn't that keen, but I'd really struggle with a five year old and a baby.

annobal · 01/05/2007 14:40

I got mine from either Mothercare or John Lewis.

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 14:45

marmite....bleargh....I won't even kiss DH if he's been eating it...vile, nasty, horrible stuff....shouldn't be allowed. Had a nasty experience with it when I was young and it makes me gag......eeewwww!

but cheese and honey.....now that's different...yummmmm.

I can't get enough of blackcurrant and liquorice sweets at the moment...and I hate liquorice usually (my mum pigged out on it when PG with me and I can't stand it normally)

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:48

I'll give you a hand Daisybump. We can have a day out. Or you can come here if that's easier (big garden and close to a park). Given we'll have 6 children between us, that might be the way to go!!

Kittykit said Asda have plastic backed bibs, but I forgot to look on Saturday when I went, which is annoying.

Defo with you there on the peanut butter and jam, used to have it on a bagel every day on the way to work when pregnant with DS1. I then retired from the rat-race too ... now I work harder than I've ever done - the thought of going back to work seems like a holiday

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 14:48

boots do a pck of ten for reasonably cheap in thier essentials range, but not sure if they're plastic backed or not. I prefer popper studs to velcro...but they are few and far between.
Mothercare have plastic backed, but they have ties.....who thinks these things up...have their product designeers ever tried to tie a bib on a wriggly baby?....

Ask holly....she'll know

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:49

I went through a licorish thing in Oz, and was delighted to find the same brand in Sainsburys - Darrell Lea - soft and not too chewy. yum!!

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:50

do I need to tell you to bugger off Daisy? aren't you meant to be having a 'productive' day today, or does this count - as research for bibs?

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 14:52

Aw...cheers Foxy....I'm sure doing the tourist thing in London in the height of summer is sheer madness anyway

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 14:52

I used to LOVE lasagne but because I had such bad morning sickness for the first 4 months I can't stand the smell of it - same with pesto - urgh!

and at the moment I am soooooooooo off garlic and curry - also used to be some of my favourites - I hope my taste / smell senses change after baby's born!

Marmite isn't my favourite either but on toast with cheese it's ok - haven't eaten it for a long time though!

Cheese and honey - mmmmmmmmmmm, lovely!! Or Lyles Golden Syrip!

I just had jam and cream biscuits from Marks and Spencers - damn they're nice!!

What would life have been like without food!!!!!

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 14:54

I gave up on productivity on the grounds that I'm just too bloody knackered....think I may be coming down with a cold as I've been shivery and sniffly all morning and have all over bodyache.....either that or I am seriously allergic to housework

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 14:56

Cheese and Jam? Hmmm....

I have to weigh in on the bibs/changing thing. My DS thought a change of clothes was akin to boiling alive till he was probably 3mo - cue screaming purple face (on him). So I think bibs are a key investment. Must say though that velcro didn't serve me well - does funny curling up thing in the wash and catches on all sorts of other items, then scratches the poor wee one's neck and makes them scream (see a theme here?). Later on the LO just pulls 'em off if they're velcro. Try ones with poppers instead - much easier to live with! My fave are these:

bandana bibs which are fleece-backed to prevent soak-through and small enough to be left on all day as part of the outfit

or

silly billyz bibs which have waterproof backing that won't change shape in a tumble dryer and fleece front. Kiddicare usually have a limited selection at lower prices too but the NZ site ships very fast and has the full colour spectrum...

Picnic this Sunday? What time? My LO naps from 12-3 or thereabouts...

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 14:57

hahahaha - allergic to housework sounds like a perfect reason for feeling so groggy!! - they owner of our flat is coming over tonight as there seems to be some water coming through the ceiling in the kitchen - so I will have to tidy up a bit!

I have been doing 2 loads of washing today so very proud of myself!!

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 15:06

notsolilKel - Silly Billy Bibs are divine!! I see they come all the way from the US?? But the 3 settings for the push studs is perfect!

re picnic - Sunday afternoon sounds great - I also like my Sunday afternoon nap, so maybe if we meet in a coffee shop or something late afternoon!!

As mentioned before, as it's weekend - can I bring DH with?

Otherwise we can meet up during the week?

Will be nice if some of the other ladies can join us, but I assume a lot of you are still working?

riabutterflew · 01/05/2007 15:06

DH got headache from morning off work! Will have to leave computer and do work...

derlor · 01/05/2007 15:07

oh hell - i just caught up with the last thread and there are 290 messages on this one!! OK what have i missed in the past 2 days - don't think my brain can take the read through!
hello Rabbitbreath are you new or just an alias for some cheeky old girl?

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 15:11

hi Derlor - you missed out a lot on this thread - even though I have to admit that I have probably taken it over and all the other mums have run off to other threads!! hahaha

I joined in March this year but have been working until Friday - so now that I am 'retired' I can spend some time joining chats and making friends!

I want to go and lie down a bit as body is getting sore from sitting up, but I am glued to the laptop!!

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 15:12

RB the sillybillyz are from New Zealand actually - those clever Kiwis...

Derlor welcome back. You missed a lot of discussion re poo and piles, so thank your lucky stars you weren't here I think I asked awhile back if you wanted to be text buddies for labour actually, as I think you're next after me (25 May)?

derlor · 01/05/2007 15:22

oooooohhhh poos and piles - my favourite topics!!! thank god i missed that!
i'm due on 4th June so very near you - and coming up quickly (shit)
rabbitbreath - i had a quick look back through the thread and see that you are new so big welcome from me. -mid june you are due i see.

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 15:24

Things get a bit tricky for me late afternoon re meet ups, because I've far too many children! Of course DH is welcome (we need to have someone to get the teas in! DP is away the weekend, and I think Holly is planning to send hers off with his boys. Shall we see how it pans out? BadZelda, Catsuitgirl, Holly and LilKel? what suits you?

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 15:25

can someone stop me please from saying 'actually' every other word?? gahhh

I think DS is waking up. Bugger. See u ladies later...

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 15:25

er, we're all having babies next month

shit!!!

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 15:26

indeed - mid June and very very excited!

We have almost bought all the stuff we will need for Bambino, which makes it even more exciting! Now we just need the baby!

re poo and piles - not great topics yes, but of some concern for some of us!!

Got some wonderful advice and I am sure I will survive (as many billions of women have done already!)

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 15:27

oh you will Sweetie! and probably go on to have another.
