hi claire74 - so lovely to meet you - I have been enjoying the last hour or so sitting here chatting to all the wonderful ladies (taking over the conversation!!!)

We also stay in North London - Highgate so not far at all from where you stay - so it would be absolutely lovely meeting up with you and some of the other mums - before or after birth!

I am scheduled to give birth at the Royal Free as well - and my due date is June 13th - so we might just bump into each other at the hospital

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 13:42

does anyone else keep dropping food on their bumps.....can't get close enough to the bloody table these days, and have just noticed some curry sauce from lunch on my top...aaaargh...and its white too......

Daisybump · 01/05/2007 13:44

Do they not give you anything at the hospital to help relieve them then Lilkel?....that's

annobal · 01/05/2007 13:46

If only my kids would be as obedient

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 13:47

Daisybump - I am normally a piggy when it comes to eating, but lately the bump has been the food catcher galore!! hahaha - and it isn't even that big yet!!

Re piles in 2nd labour -mmmm, not so great, but I guess it's all part of the package for some women - a colleague of mine who gave birth in December said she got piles while pregnant and they have since gone away - she said they itched a lot and were not that comfortable! Oh well ....

notsolilKel - what is Anusol - is it a cream or something to use on the piles?

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 13:48

Just popped 'in' again to see what everyone is doing.

Hi Rabbitbreath! Nice to have you with us the more the merrier!

Glad to hear that you're all like me and not planning a mad waxing, trimming and shaping fest! I like Annobal decided last time that if I couldn't see it it couldn't be that bad! LOL Daisy getting the MW to do it while she there! Perhaps she could do whilst doing the stitches afterwards (at least things would be numb!) in prep for the post natal first shag!

Lilkel! Its so exciting that you look like you'll be the first.....ooohhhhh! I'm starting to get a bit nervous!!

Right off to be good Mum and do arty things in the garden with DD!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 13:51

Aaarghhhh! Piles no, please I think I can deal with the poo, but piles?

Rabbitbreath - anusol- yes cream for piles

Hi Claire! Welcome too!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 13:52

Daisy - food on bump - absolutely! I think its cos we can't get right upto the table!

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 13:52

oh re sex after labour - apparently women are extremely fertile about 2 / 3 weeks after birth, so midwife warned about unprotected sex, unless you want another baby within a year!!

Not that sex is big on my list of things to do in the 2 / 3 weeks after giving birth

notsolilKel · 01/05/2007 13:52

Hi yes Anusol is a cream for the piles. Find some now whilst not in pain-in-the-arse-induced-panic!! I also took a homeopathic remedy as I was in a desperate way. Was called "Aloes 6C" I think but your local homeopath would know for certain. Those things plus liberal use of Andrex moist tissues saved me. Actually apart from the destruction of my pelvic floor, the piles were the worst part of recovery!!

Ok positive thoughts now - sweet little baby hands and feet - teeny tiny vests and lovely little baby smells - ahhh I can almost imagine it now!!!

annobal · 01/05/2007 13:53

Labour certainly did not bring out the pretty side in me - I pushed so hard that I burst all the blood vessels down to my ribs, all my glands were swollen and had piles .

attractive!!

Sorry about my late posts - I start posting then get doing something else and conversation has been moving on...

annobal · 01/05/2007 13:56

Good point - I've just bought a load of clothes from ebay and have been unpacking them. You do forget how tiny they are and how gorgeous new born clothes are [aaww emoticon]

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 13:57

notsolilKel - I am rolling around laughing now at your comment: Find some now whilst not in pain-in-the-arse-induced-panic!!

hahhaahahahahaha

I will definitely put this cream on the shopping list - even if it is just to tempt Murphy! Or how do you say here in the UK - Sod's Law!

in the hope that I don't get piles - but let's not be too smug now

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 14:02

we also bought WAY too much clothes from E-bay but they are all sooooooooooooo adorable!!!!

An ex-colleague of DH, whose wife had a baby about 3 - 4 weeks ago told DH that they just wipe the vomit / spit off clothes as it is way too much effort to re-dress baby all the time - I THINK THIS IS TERRIBLE!!

Who likes being wet and smelly!

Maybe I am anal, but really, how difficult can it be to change baby - ok, I know I will be dog tired, but at least then baby will be dry and content and not have smelly and wet clothes on.

Am I being over ambitious here?

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 14:06

Think popping some in the bag is a good plan, will probably be doing the same.

Though if it is any comfort at to first timers - I didn't poo myself or have piles. Since being on here I have begun to realise that I must have been very lucky, so now on my second I guess my luck will have run out......

Don't worry Rabbitbreath the first shag was said in jest - it may be high on my list now (regretably not on DHs) but it is way way down the list for after, can't remember how long it was last time - but a good while!!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 14:08

Not ambitious at all Rabbitbreath - a proper caring mother! if you want a grumpy baby I'd follow your DHs ex-colleague. It is a bit difficult when you're not used to it - but you soon manage to be super speedy!

Seansgirl · 01/05/2007 14:10

Right, really have to go and be a good mother DD is bored and keeps asking me "what are you emailing now mummy? Its taking a long time...." Plus my back is aching sat on this chair!

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:11

will you all bloody well stop and take a breath so I can catch up???

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:13

gasp! OK, phew. up to speed.

what happened on here?

who said their MW said it was like having a big poo? wouldn't want to go into the bathroom after her ...

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 14:14

Seansgirl - you are probably gone by now but I just want to say thank you for making me feel better as I thought I was being very critical and not nice about the change of clothes thing.

I just made myself a toasted cheese and jam sandwich as I was starved, but did not want to miss out on any of the conversation!

;---))))

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:18

I have piles but pushing DS1 out for 3 hours kinda inevitable. just got them back now.

RB, bibs, bibs and more bibs. Preferably velcro fastening plastic backed ones to prevent soak through to clothes.

I went and bought a ton of stuff at H&M, including the cutest sun hats - am paranoid she'll get burnt.

am only mildly grumpy sofar today. absolutely shagged after another crap nights sleep which involved being kicked in the back constantly by a two year old, my 4 yo having growing pains in his feet (poor, poor lamb) and DS1 waking up and coming in at 6.

stop me if you've heard me whinge before ....

Picnic on Sunday? Wandsworth Common any good as inbetween BZ and Catsuitgirl and has a train station. But I have the car so can travel.

foxybrown · 01/05/2007 14:20

would that be toasted cheese and jam together RB? Interesting ....

annobal · 01/05/2007 14:27

Toast with cheese and jam is DS1s favourite treat

Poor you, Foxy . I think the reason I had them with DS2 was because the MW had me pushing way too early - I was pushing for 2 HOURS - for a 2nd birth that's pretty hard going...

Anyway, back to cute fluffy things, I bought a lovely navy shorts suit all-in-one (petit bateau) for summer for the baby but it has a frilly collar and we won't use it - anyone interested?

Rabbitbreath · 01/05/2007 14:28

Foxybrown - moan as much as you like - I think we are all going through a similar experience so nice to know that I am not the only one feeling sorry for myself - I don't have a lot of fierce kicks yet (think baby is very mellow or lying in such a way that kicks don't hurt me yet!)

I have pain in my ribs - especially in the back but I am wondering if it isn't due to the enormous size of my boobs - I went from a size 38DD to a 40F - now I understand why some women have their boobs made smaller - I never quite understood!

I also have bad pains in my pubic area and groins - especially when I have been sitting / lying down and start walking!! I keep on comforting myself with the thought - it can only last another 2 months max!!!

Re bibs - thanks for advice - I have bought a couple of bibs already - but will invest in more valcro ones as I have heard from other mums that it's much easier to use these! Will stock up!

Re picnic on Sunday - it sounds wonderful - as it's weekend is DH welcome too? He is well-behaved and a total gentleman!!

annobal · 01/05/2007 14:30

Bibs definitely the way to go RB - it saves too many changes of clothes
