Morning,

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 17:31

Sending you labour vibes Sky, hope he makes an appearence soon. Don't know how I'll ever make it to 40 weeks. Am going mad now at 37, oh the thought of going overdue.......

juliewoolie · 02/05/2007 17:32

crikey just read a bit of it I gather it was someone who thought they were being witty and others who took total offence at it. Personally I thought we were all intelligent ladies who would not start an argument over someone elses point of view or black humour or whatever you want to call it.

So glad we are all normal preg ladies who are far to sensible to become involved in such nonsense!!

SKYTVADDICT · 02/05/2007 17:32

LW - she is devastated and convinced she has lost it.

To make it even worse her sister in law (well she would be if they were married) lost her baby last week and had an ERPC yesterday so her poor DPs mum has lost two grandchildren this week.

Better go and make tea for the troops - I had lunch out so am really no hungry yet.

Congrats on the LO turning LG&T. Thought for a while you were going to beat me to it.

I shouldn't have typed that really - cos she hasn't actually lost the baby officially! Whoops. I am keeping everything crossed for her (not my legs though - LOL)

megandsoph · 02/05/2007 17:36

LG&T sooo chuffed for you RE no section needed yey!!

megandsoph · 02/05/2007 17:37

Aorry the fullmoon comment was regarding the MN bust up

juliewoolie · 02/05/2007 17:38

thats awful I remeber the constant checking for blood in my pants in the early weeks. Absoloutly disgraceful that she can not get in for a scan sooner If I was her I would go and sit up in a&e and demand to be seen by someone.

Good luck with your consultant sky think you are mad asking for a sweep but can totally sympathise with having a large bubba in there and just wanting to get the LO out.

LW it sounds like you are spending far too much time being bogged down with college work can you not speak to your tutors and ask for extensions so that you can finish them later. Rememeber you need to take care of yourself and the baby and its not doing you any favours staying up late hunched over the comp.

I am putting on my best nanny and soon to be mummy voice and demanding you stop working and have a rest!

BefnalBub · 02/05/2007 17:38

Still here, been browsing things.

Sky I very much hope she is ok, bubs too. How awful for her. I'm sure it must be the not knowing that's the killer, I haven't ever experienced it so can only imagine and sympathise. Keeping everything crossed for her too

Julie I can't ask for extended time a) because I can't be arsed b) because I've had enough and just want it over and done with c) if I get it dont now it's a few less things to worry about and d) even if I did ask I doubt they'd give me the extension becasue 'it was my decision to have a baby and remain on the course' or some such bollocks. Despite the fact I didn't choose to get pregnant I just chose to keep the baby. Nevermind nevermind. I'm making good progress with one of my reports

ShowOfHands · 02/05/2007 18:16

Hey all. SkyTV, sorry to hear about your niece, I've been there. I started to bleed on a Tuesday and couldn't get an EPAU appointment until the Friday. The GP advised going to A&E instead and I got a referral straight from A&E up to the gynae ward for a scan. It was so frightening having already had a miscarriage last year. Thankfully all was okay (obviously, I'm a 38wk pg heifer now) and I was given an open pass to the ward in case of more bleeding. I will be thinking of your niece.

Had my 38wk check and prod. Everything's fine, desperately hoping I pop before the 40wk check, but I doubt it. Pressure has increased again today and have had a few contractions after the prodding but it'll fizzle out in a couple of hours. Midwife was lovely said she'd love to say 'tomorrow and it definitely could be' but she can't put money on anything. She said that DH had to buy me a nice takeaway, flowers and run me a long bath in her medical opinion. She also amused me by saying that the on call midwife (who I saw last time as usual mw was poorly) and the hv both said how absolutely adorable DH is. They're right you know. Old women just love him.

I love MN during a full moon, it's like being back at school with all the bitching and politics. Think I'll revert back to geekdom and stay well out of it all.

We went on a school trip to Le Touquet once, beautiful place btw!

I've got to lie down, Mathilda does not like being jiggled by the midwife and is behaving peculiarly.

twelveyeargap · 02/05/2007 18:17

That's terrible SKY. That happened to my friend when she was bleeding at around 7 weeks. She was referred to a local hospital which had had it's maternity unit closed down and when she got there, they said, "Oh sorry, we don't have an ultrasound available on Tuesdays. You'll have to come back Thursday and we might be able to fit you in." Then she tried to get into another hospital and was told she was out of the catchment or something. She ended up paying for a private scan just to see if the baby was alive.

It was thank God, but how absolutely awful that they would make a woman wait to find out. I really hope your neice is ok.

And fingers crossed that yours makes an appearance soon!

cameroonmama · 02/05/2007 18:17

Keep going LW, you are doing a great job

Sky good luck with the sweep and sorry to hear about your niece, I hope it works out ok.

I'm glad I'm due in May and not June, poor old lulumama looks like she is doing a sterling job defending her brood

This baby is in a funny position today, lots of pains in my lower abdomen, bit like you get when you have trapped wind! I might have to do some 'on-all-fours' action soon. I wish I had the energy to walk anywhere let alone do some yoga.

Have to go and read stories now..

Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 18:56

My stretchmarks are soooo itchy! No ammount of cream seems to be stopping the itchyness! Oh and by the way, have disscovered a fabulous new cream. Well it's not new but I've only just found it and it is lovely. It's Boots own Cocoa Butter and Mallow body lotion for dry skin. I keep applying it just for the smell It's so nice, best place to apply is your feet - they end up feeling very silky.

Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 18:58

Ahhhhhhh, instant silkiness

AbbyLou · 02/05/2007 19:02

Hi everyone. Dh has been working from home today and has been on the pc ALL DAY! It's been killing not being able to get on and catch up with everyone! Thought I'd come on this evening to loads of new babies but it looks like we still don't have our first May May baby! I won't even bother trying to catch up with all that's happened as there have been so many posts today although Sky I will say I hope everything works out for your neice, I can't believe they are making her wait that long.
Everything is hunky dory this end, in fact today I feel better than I have in ages. I feel relaxed, no aches and pains and I've actually got some energy. Maybe it's the calm before the storm....

juliewoolie · 02/05/2007 19:03

you should try almond oil for your belly I find it instantly relieves the itchiness and it smells yummy

Pinkjenny · 02/05/2007 19:07

God, I can't believe some of the things that have been written on that thread.

Its a bit worrying when a group of pregnant women are all kicking off and stressing each other out!

Glad we're always lovely and harmonious.

Kisses to your niece Sky.

Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 19:10

Do you know, I can't believe I'm due to have a baby 3 weeks from tommorrow! Time has gone so quickly. I know this baby is real and she will come, but I still feel fairly relaxed about it all. Don't think the general 'oh my god, I have to look after this for the next 18 years of my life' has really kicked in yet iykwim? It's like I know she's coming, but she is and she isn't real. Oh I am making no sense!

twelveyeargap · 02/05/2007 19:21

LW - fwiw, I don't think I ever got the "realisation" about having a baby young until I got pregnant this time round. I think you just get on with it. You'll be a great mum. You're so excited about the baby, you can't not be.

Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 19:22

Oh and have just seen a thread about babies looking like their dads - I hope not! I hadn't even thought that she might look like him. He doesn't deserve to have her look like him. I haven't given any thought as to who she might look like! Just always gone along with - she's my baby......that's it.

Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 19:25

He was just an ingredient! The injustice of it all. I've made her.
