Morning,

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ShowOfHands · 02/05/2007 11:46

Come and see my midwife instead. She makes a great cuppa and brings chocolate biscuits with her. Never late either. And she says such lovely things about how 'blooming and beautiful' you look and how she just knows you'll be great at giving birth. Get yourself over to Norfolk lovey.

twelveyeargap · 02/05/2007 11:55

No, no, no, no, no -there is to be no beating up of selves for beauty treatments considered/ carried out. Dying your hair, highlighting, fake tanning - it's all FINE. Yes, it's possible that some teeeny weeeny amount of the substance could get under your skin, but c'mon, there's no way that's going to affect the baby. Again, you're not drinking the stuff.

Even my pregnancy book says it's fine!

Logically, it must be more harmful to the baby to stand at the side of the road inhaling car fumes than it is to have your hair highlighted.

EVERYBODY STAY CALM!

Really Meggle??? Brave and er, slightly deranged? You might have a French baby!

Been meaning to ask you where your nickname comes from. Isn't Meggle the name of a dairy company? So are you, in fact, a dairy cow?

I guess you must be feeling tip top if you're planning a trip. How long are you going for?

ShowOfHands · 02/05/2007 12:02

Neither daring nor stupid. It's debonair and continental, daaarling.

ShowOfHands · 02/05/2007 12:03

I can't read it as Meggle Vache, I read it as Megg Le Vache. Like MeggyMoo in French!

Lwatkins · 02/05/2007 12:13

M/W just been. She showed
Urine fine, blood pressure 120/70, baby 2/5's engaged and am measuring 34 cm at 36+6 weeks. She said this was fine however as I am quite tiny and have had steady growth throughout so nothing to worry about. Listened to heartbeat which was lovely, took her a while to find and started getting a bit worried as they usually find it instantly, naughty baby not behaving.

In my notes it's says 'cephalic', is this the way the baby is lying? Is this one of those things that I should definatley know about by now but don't?

scootermum · 02/05/2007 12:17

With the use of a mirror madeindevon..but to be honest if you look anything like me at the mo, its best avoided!Have a great last day at work-and drop me a line either on here or on [email protected] if you still fancy a little meet up in Welwyn Gard City or wherever when you have finished?(and anyone else of course)

Just been into town with intention of taxing car, getting blood done, picking up DH's prescription from Chemist..Managed only one of the above as forgot the MOT cert and the prescription..FFS!I dont remember being this dappy with dd..or this immobile either-I was decorating the house until three days before she arrived and felt fine..

Ruddy hot here today as well..feel quite done in after waddling around Ware with everyone staring at me as if I was a whale-(but it might be coz my top is a tad too short now-nothing else clean, and is not a very good look TBH)

Why were you up till 5.30 lwatkins?Working?Take it easy love..dont kill yourself for it..

Ha, Im going to carry on with the Olbas and to the devil with it..Ive not had so much as a sip of booze or a smidge of soft cheese during this pg, (well did have soem smoked salmon but only as didnt realise it was not allowed), so I must be allowed some ruddy cold remedy...plus gonna slather on some st tropez an'all..fed up of having such pasty legs..

How much is your ionic straightening costing TYG if you dont mind me asking?Thinking of having it done as fed up with messing around with straighteners and that..
Ella looks lovely in the cardy April..

scootermum · 02/05/2007 12:19

Blimey Meggle..Bonjour le bebe!Would it have dual nationality if it were born in France I wonder?

ShowOfHands · 02/05/2007 12:19

Cephalic is head down, good baby!

cameroonmama · 02/05/2007 12:20

Gosh, Meg, daring, debonair, stupid and I'm where are you going? Et c'est la vache n'est-ce pas?

madeindevon · 02/05/2007 12:25

lgandt im with you on the beauty treatment thing. my hubby was pointing out the grey to my sister, brother in law, father etc last night!! charming eh! will be sorted next tuesday..... i have had hair dyed at salon every 8 weeks or so thruout pregnancy.....dont intend to stop now! will be having massage and pedicure at same time aswell!
only thing i gave up on was having acrylic nails....couldnt be bothered with that anymore

twelveyeargap · 02/05/2007 12:25

Well yes, MeggyMoo does make more sense...

Scoot, the straightening ain't cheap I'm afraid. It's JL Ionic Straightening and I think it was about £180 last time I had it done. On the upside, you really can wash and leave your hair. It "grows" out like a perm would, but I got at least 6 months out of mine. Actually found that after one month it was nicer than when freshly done because the roots had grown out and gave my hair some bounce and took the "flat" look off it. After that, with the ends being perfectly straight, only the little new baby hairs I get around my face ever gave any trouble, iyswim. Haven't had it done in ages though - about 15 months I think, hence the straighteners came back out around Christmas.

PLUS, my own hairdresser (who doesn't do straightening) said what I had done left my hair in MUCH better condition than any Yuko Straightening she's seen done - much kinder to the hair. Also she said after I'd had it done a second time, that she's never seen anyone have Yuko done twice with much success as the ends of the hair go very dry and nasty. JL Ion

scootermum · 02/05/2007 12:45

Worth every penny if it lasts that long though TYG..I will see if they do it at my hairdressers I think as I dont think an hour spent straightening hair a morning will be helpful with two kiddies..

yellowfrin · 02/05/2007 13:14

Anybody know when to start taking arnica (before, during or after)and how often? Got the 30c pillules but of course totally forgot to ask.

I regret not having booked myself in for some serious body TLC now. Will I be the only one looking awful and certainly not glam?

scootermum · 02/05/2007 13:17

No, coz I will still look awful despite best efforts...

Think you take after the birth but not sure, havent managed to get hold of any yet-on to do list...

Welcome on by the way-are you new or is it just my PG brain?(sorry if so...)

twelveyeargap · 02/05/2007 13:17

From two weeks before your due date I believe. Must go and find mine...

yellowfrin · 02/05/2007 13:23

Brand new thanks!

2 weeks before?? Ooops!!How many I seem to remember that u have to take it every couple of hours?

scootermum · 02/05/2007 13:26

Every few hours?!

Ere, another thing good for the postpartum healing-bit of milk in your bath and some lavender oil..(like a tblspoon of milk, not half a pint..)Worked pretty well for me last time..

Must get off here now and do something..was going to go for a walk and then do some gardening..whats the betting I opt for going back to bed with a DVD for a few hours instead..

madeindevon · 02/05/2007 13:38

scoot. thats not fair. that sounds great.
i really want to lie down but i cant even get away from my desk for a 10 minute walk.....sob sob sob

twelveyeargap · 02/05/2007 14:00

I have the Nelsons pillules and it's 2 every two hours for the first 6 doses then 4 times daily. Maybe they said the week before due date. I mean, if you go overdue, you don't want to be taking hundreds of the things. Sod it, maybe I'm confusing it with the raspberry leaf tablets. I bought them at the same time.

Online consensus is that you start taking them when labour starts. Ignore previous, dubious "advice".

yellowfrin · 02/05/2007 14:36

sounds good to me thanks for the advice. Off to see the M/W now catch u later

yellowfrin · 02/05/2007 15:15

M/W says baby fully engaged or better 'can you feel any pressure down there'??Is it normal that ur measurements drop though?? Was 39 cm last week and have now dropped to 36 cm. Different M/W different measurements??

scootermum · 02/05/2007 15:17

I would say so, its not an exact science-3 cm seems quite a bit, but it can depend which way the baby is lying etc..if the mw wasnt worried I wouldnt be either...

yellowfrin · 02/05/2007 15:20

Mmmh I suppose she just seemed a bit odd. Not used to having a different mw I guess.
