Thought I'd start up a new thread as the old one has run out of space.

@Stephiewoo you don't need this stress?

Why are they going to sack you? They can't just sack you, don't t let them exploit your rights. You being pregnant might make it a bit more complicated for them to sack you.

SpriteGirl · 06/02/2018 15:25

Sorry extra question mark in first line of the above post - it's not a question!

Stephiewoo · 06/02/2018 16:20

Been to the union, I'm on my 2nd absence warning, been off twice in 5 months with work related stress and anxiety. Best case scenario for me is redundancy, which I would take. I can't stand the team, I've outgrown the team and my boss is a knob end. There's of course loads more to add to the long winded ball bag of a story but hey ho. Life's short and I don't need stress during pregnancy.

Emmasmum2013 · 06/02/2018 18:13

Sorry to everyone’s whos having a crap time lately. To those who are witng for test results, I really really hope everything turns out ok for you. The waiting must be awful.

I’m off work again :( went home yesterday afternoon and didn’t go in today. I feel so sick again!! I’ve been counting the days until 12 weeks because aren’t you meant to feel better by then?! Why do I feel worse??
I’ve lost all my appetite entirely, constantly nauseous and sick and coughing all the time.
I really hope I’ll be ok at work, but like you stephie I’ve been off a lot :(

Stephiewoo · 06/02/2018 18:44

@Emmasmum2013 it's tough, I've had a lot of ups and downs, bereavement, broken foot, shingles, reactive depression, I get I'm not the best candidate plus I can be a hobby cow.

You should be fine @Emmasmum2013 as it's pregnancy related, whereas I'm unsure my hormonal imbalance and anxiety will be covered by that 🙄

Stephiewoo · 06/02/2018 18:44

gobby!!!

Buk88 · 06/02/2018 19:44

@Emmasmum2013- I totally hear you! I’m 15 weeks and still unbelievably sick. From the second I lift my head off the pillow I just can’t stop feeling/being sick. I have medication from the doctor but it doesn’t seem to touch it. The midwife said that 16 weeks might be the magic milestone so fingers crossed. You should just remember that you’re doing a brilliant job of making a whole new human being- you might not be able to sit at your desk but you probably made kidneys or intestines today 😊 far more important in the long run x

StrawberryLemonade · 06/02/2018 20:11

Eek I can hardly keep up on here. Had a long and busy day at work and just got DD to bed.

Re: the maternity exemption form my midwife gave me it and I had to get Doctors surgery to stamp it then they sent it off for me. Took about a week to arrive and it’s backdated to a month before they received the form.

Stephiewoo definitely keep the union involved - surely they can’t sack you for being genuinely signed off sick! That’s got unfair dismissal written all over it.

Glad your scan was ok other than running late gizzymum

Sorry some of you are still feeling really sick. I’m still nauseous but definitely better than it was. Makes me then worry about the baby though! Need to find a way to relax.

Hope everyone is having a nice evening. I’m going to eat then sleep!

BertieBotts · 06/02/2018 20:14

Scan tomorrow. Also Kiki and gkeen I think? Good luck! I am feeling more excited than nervous at the moment but I'll see what it's like in the morning. DH has put up a little pinboard in the baby's room to stick the scans on - we've got week 6 and week 8 there already :)

Kiki275 · 06/02/2018 20:48

Thanks Bertie - Good luck to you too. I'm really excited. It's my first scan so not a clue what to expect. I'm very impressed you have baby's room already. I need to move house and refurbish it completely first. I did however get a free Cow&Gate baby pack just for the toy cow :) x

Gem173 · 06/02/2018 20:49

@Bertiebotts that’s so cute! Good luck at your scan :) and to anyone else having one xx

BertieBotts · 06/02/2018 20:58

We have literally just moved! It's full of boxes, drying clothes, and unidentified bits of furniture! Grin But so excited we have this space for him/her even though it means I have to do so much at the old house to get it sorted.

gkeen369 · 06/02/2018 20:58

Good luck too for tomorrow @BertieBotts and @Kiki275. I'm really excited. Keep trying to remind myself that if something is wrong it's a long way to fall but...nope, too excited! 🙈

Kiki275 · 06/02/2018 21:31

Good luck GKeen - all I keep thinking is - what if it's twins? Ah well, in for a penny.... x

Kiki275 · 06/02/2018 21:35

I feel for you Bertie, I have spent 2 years making my little bungalow a home and then we agree to move onto DH's farm sometime in April. It's not been refurbished since the 80's - the sheer amount of gloss paint (and damp) makes me extremely nervous. x

Gizzymum · 06/02/2018 22:10

So in addition to the sonographer not being able to do the nuchal translucency measurement, the NIPT test folks rang this evening to say they can't get a result from the redraw (ie the second lot of bloods taken). They can't even say why, which has led to googling and....😱😡. They won't do a third test as they find that if they can't get it on the first two goes, there's no point trying a third. Basically my screening is screwed unless I go private (again) or just have the 16wk bloods on NHS which only tests for Downs.

Now I'm worried there's something seriously wrong with LO and no one can give me a decent answer so now I don't know whether to tell people I'm preggers (which I did at 12wks last time with no screening results) or to wait until I've had at least some sort of screening done to rule out major problems. 😢🤯

Whichoneisit · 07/02/2018 05:49

Oh bloody hell gizzy! Are you over 13+6? That’s the max for nuchal? Did they refund you (minus the scan)? If so, book a private nuchal if you’re under 13+6. You can’t live with that anxiety.
FWIW, the dna in my sample was very low which is why it took them so long. Sounds like I was lucky to get a result but all of my risks came back low. Try not to let your anxiety run wild, instead, get something definitive booked in.

Whichoneisit · 07/02/2018 05:53

gizzy also meant to say that my nhs nuchal was exactly the same and the baby wouldn’t allow them to get any measurements.

SpriteGirl · 07/02/2018 06:42

@Gizzymum this is an awful situation. Currently waiting for harmony test results so I know what you’re going through - the uncertainty is the worst. I am exhausted and can hardly sleep.

I told everyone last week when we had our scan. On screen measurements were all low risk and I just assumed it would be ok. Now I’ve come back increased risk for downs and I’ve got people emailing me congratulating me I just feel
in limbo.

somersetsinger · 07/02/2018 08:10

Gizzy, can you ring your midwife and get them to book you another NHS scan to do Nuchal testing? It took them ages to get the measurement in my scan and if they hadn't managed it, my understanding was that I would have had to go back.

Stephie, if you have picked up on your work being bastards because they want to force you out, then it will probably be horrible to keep working there. If you can get redundancy or unfair dismissal, that might be the best outcome overall. Really sorry for all the nonsense happening to you at the same time.

Gizzymum · 07/02/2018 08:42

I've just called the midwife who will speak to the scan dept but she's not very hopeful. She said she'd ring me back today. She also failed to give any reassurance whatsoever about the failed Harmony test. 😕

YouCantBeSirius · 07/02/2018 08:58

I'm now 15 weeks today, it seems to be flying in for me now.

milney25 · 07/02/2018 09:27

@YouCantBeSirius 15 weeks today for me too ☺️ it's going much quicker isn't it!

Frescoed · 07/02/2018 09:49

Sorry I haven't been very present, it's hard to keep up with everyone! I hope that those with sickness are feeling a bit better. I would trade a lot for a good night of wierd-dream-less sleep at the moment!

Lovely to hear about all the positive scans, good luck for anyone going today!

We went for our scan yesterday and saw a wriggly baby waving and kicking. Unfortunately our NT measurement is high, and I got the impression from the sonographer that regardless of the blood tests it probably means we are high risk at this stage (I think she said we'd be referred to a consultant). I didn't really ask probably what happens next, and the cheery lady who took the bloods afterwards just said we'd get a letter in 2-3 weeks, so I've called my midwife this morning who is going to try and find out what will actually happen next. I imagine the NIPT test will be suggested, as I think our Trust does offer it on the NHS.

SpriteGirl · 07/02/2018 09:56

@Frescoed I was told I'd get a letter if it was low risk but a phone call if high risk which is what happened. Hopefully your midwife can find out sooner for you.

I'd check if they do definitely offer NIPT because if not you might want to start looking into it now - the wait is the worse thing so the sooner you get it done the better, assuming that's the path you want to go down.
