I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PeckaRolloverAgain · 01/05/2007 16:36

All sounds fine for 5 weeks

Its a pain isnt it as its nice to get some of these early weeks out of the way as quickly as possible.

BeachBunni · 01/05/2007 16:54

Good luck with the blood tests tomorrow Pecka. I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for you. Enjoy the concert

the lady - I really don't know about these things. It's a good sign if there's no cramping. From what I can gather from other threads bleeding happens to some people and they're ok. I suppose all you can do is maybe ring your gp and keep an eye out.

I'm beginning to hate these first twelve weeks - feel like we're all playing the waiting game and it's draaaaging on.

becklespeckle · 01/05/2007 16:54

Sorry Awen - crossed posts with you, probably missed loads more while typing my reply! Try not to worry too much about your scan, 5.3 mm is the right size for a 5 weeks sac and that early you would not expect to see much else. Was it an abdominal scan you had or an internal? Obviously they can see more with an internal one at this stage. I am sure its about 6-7 weeks before they can see a heartbeat and you should get to see it in 2 weeks! Its also a good sign that they said it looks healthy, mine was out of shape last year at the scan I had so even without the HCG results and everything they knew it was bad news. I do hate the language they use on their forms and things though 'confirm viability' is such a clinical thing to say.
Pecka How you feeling today? Still feeling pg is a good sign! I read your other thread and it sounds to me like the person who scanned you was incompetent! As for Justin - go go go! I am going to see him in London in July!
Peanutbutter Hows it going? I have not had any weight gain yet but I do find that my jeans are a bit tight after dinner! Put on 4 stone with my first (mostly water thankfully) and about 2.5 with my second.
Claraq I have been getting twinges for the last few days - it all feels quite tight and a bit sore very low down on tummy IKKWIM? Had bleed at weekend too although am not as far along as you. People keep saying it is quite normal to get twinges and things so fingers crossed and try not to worry too much. Phone your mw/gp if you are worrying though. I don't remember getting any twinges with previous pgs but then each one has been different. A friend of mine had bleeding and cramps fairly early on and her MW said that was the baby burrowing in deeper and sometimes a bit of placenta comes away - very similar to what my MW told me too.
Thelady good luck with your scan on Monday, it must seem a lifetime away! If you are worried then I would call the mw/gp, perhaps they could bring the scan forward for you?
Birdseed not sure exactly how early they would do an early scan but I think it would be around 7 weeks as they can usually see a heartbeat by then. If they do it too early it may be inconclusive which may make you worry when in fact there is nothing wrong at all!
skidaddle grrr for useless blood takers, I had one last year who instead of taking it from the nice plump vein in the crook of my elbow, decided the little skinny one further up was better. Ouch! Was very very sore and had a really nasty bruise there. Grrg...
Insy LOL at your DS tipping over his potty! (sure it wasn't funny at the time...)
Anyway, my cramps have settled down a bit today. Had a call from Hospital re: early scan today and it seems they have lost my scan request form! Bless. So phoned up the doctor to ask him to send another - turns out he has already sent 2! So he is now sending another... Mind you, at least if it takes a few days to sort it they will hopefully be able to see a bit more, I'm 6+3 by LMP but only 5+5 by the date I think I ov'd.

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 01/05/2007 16:54

Pecka - just popping in from the Jan thread (yes, Awen, there is one - there were 2 on the go last week!) - I did have some bright red blleding last time and went on to have healthy full term baby so try not to worry too much. It was at 8 weeks, and then a little again at 12 weeks (so around AF time?) - the first time it was a bright red gush (then a little more over the next day or two) and I couldn't go to the hospital until 3 days later as it was Friday afternoon and the Early Pregnancy Unit only worked weekdays - but the doc said on the phone not to worry unless big cramps as well, or passing clots. So fingers crossed for you!

becklespeckle · 01/05/2007 16:55

(sorry for monster post)

PeckaRolloverAgain · 01/05/2007 16:58

Can anyone shed any light on why I was told my sac was 1cm if it is normal for them to be 5mm?

becklespeckle · 01/05/2007 17:13

I am guessing Pecka that your dates could be a bit out - also it sounds like you had a really really rubbish sonographer. I know that doesn't make you feel better at the moment but hang in there honey, its not over yet x

skidaddle · 01/05/2007 17:22

awen - sounds like all is well

pecka, don't know why the sac would only be 1cm except like beckle said you had an incompetent sonographer.... have all my fingers and toes crossed for you tomorrow

thelady · 01/05/2007 17:44

Erm:

1cm = 10mm = twice the size of 5mm

Am I missing something?

thelady · 01/05/2007 17:48

Thanks all for the support. MW was really nice (I've not even met her yet, as booking in is next week) and will get someone to phone tomorrow and see how I'm doing. She confirmed that there's nothing to do but wait and see....

PeckaRolloverAgain · 01/05/2007 17:50

Its very confusing isnt it

mad4girls · 01/05/2007 18:43

isnt it weird after feeling so awful yesterday ad even a late ish night, i woke ar 3 in the morning dying for ice cold milk which i drank about a pint of and went back to sleep,

then i woke up this morning feeling great no sickness and even managed to eat breafast felt so good , i even did my cleaning job (only 3 hours but students live there so a complete dump) and still didnt feel ill

also went on a bus to town this normally makes me quesy and scoffed a hot dog while there spent loads of money, picked up kids went to park came in had great big lovely salad with an ice cold glass of pure orange and still feeling great(other than the worry that if im not sick anymore is there something wrong ) but taking full advantage just gave the house a quick hoover/dust round, incase i feel like death again tomrrow, just about to put some washing on and do a pile of ironing (ii must be ill)

bambino- wow myleene bet she gorgeuos saw her on mtv the other day.
pecka- so jealous about justin tickets wish i could go too

Minicooper · 01/05/2007 18:47

Pecka - I had v early scan at 5+5 weeks - abdominal scan showed empty sac, but nothing inside. I was lucky, as my epu whisked me straight off for an internal scan and they picked up yolk and tiny, tiny sparse heartbeat. I don't think trans-abdominal shows much at this stage. Am 9+4 now and had great dating scan at 8 weeks too with good strong heartbeat, so try not to worry at this stage. I'll be watching to see how things go.

peanutbutter · 01/05/2007 19:07

hi everybody! so glad to hear others are feeling a bit porky like me

thelady - fingers crossed for your scan

pecka - will be rooting for you

beckle - hiya! i'm fine thanks for asking. i did put a little message for you on the last thread, just saying i was so glad to see you on the ante-natal thread and whatnot. still can't quite believe i'm pregnant again! . How about your scan request going astray. Good job you rang up to chase or you'd still be waiting next week and the week after...good job your GP is on the ball too. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Is myleene klass pregnant then?! She was only just on those M&S adverts looking completely gorgeous (and v v slim )

becklespeckle · 01/05/2007 20:31

Hi Peanutbutter, think I must have missed your last message . Thought that the kids going back to school would mean more time for MN but that just hasn't happened! I am glad to be on the a/n thread and glad you are too, have been missing everyone on the other thread. I can't quite believe I am pg either, I thought it would never happen again without help - am just hoping to stay on here now! Hows it going for you? Are you getting many symptoms and stuff yet? I am still waiting for the queasyness to kick in although am feeling a little rough this evening. Myleene Klass is pg, not sure how far but she has quite a bump already! And she still looks really gorgeous!

cazzybabs · 01/05/2007 20:33

OHHH I really NEEEEDDDDD yo have salt and vingar pringles and pita bread and mayonise and lettice and tomato...

oh god I WANT NEED it

and I can't have it

and i sooo hungry

MamaMaiasaura · 01/05/2007 20:38

They did transvaginal here so probably got a better look at sac than if abdominal. Thanks beckle you have really re-assured me. do you mind me asking how come u know

Pecka I did lots of surfing to find out what was normal and they say at such an early stage abdominal ones are really diff and the bladder often distorts image.

Checked my due date - looked like right at end of Dec or beg of Jan. (ds1 was early so I am guessing a dec).

Skidaddle - what a shitty mw for you. DOes that mean i will have consultant led care as I had emergency section, post partum haeorrage, gestational diabetes and queried early signs of pre-eclampsia (and PND afterward ..

Actually my mum asked if i would like a home birth and tbh i would if it is safe.

Loucee · 01/05/2007 21:25

Hi everyone

Lovely to read how you're all getting on. Hope everyone's nausea has lessened a bit.

I'm feeling very un-pregnant, have got my scan on friday so should know if everything is ok then.

Sorry to hear you've been bleeding Lady, really hope it's just a one off unharmful episode.

It's May today, yay another month closer to meeting our babies

Loucee · 01/05/2007 21:28

Skidaddle, about you having consultant led care, I had been thinking about finding out what that entailed but to be told you will have it is a bit strong. I had forceps with DD (still need to cross my legs when I type/say that word!) so wonder if my MW will say that too?

Cazzy - I am a crisp fiend at the mo, had 3 pakets today (I'm really ashamed to admit that). Two were salt and vinegar! I know we have a while yet til we find out but my friend was saying she craved savoury and had a boy!

becklespeckle · 01/05/2007 21:36

Glad you feel reassured Awen and do not mind you asking how I know (I am completely un-offendable). I had a missed m/c last year and when they eventually scanned me (at 12 weeks - after 2 weeks of bleeding and many many blood tests!) they saw a sac of just over 5mm which was not the right shape. They said that from the size they could tell it had stopped at 5 weeks and from the shape that it was not 'normal'. Hope that helps! I am sure you will be fine hun, ignore the medical language and concentrate on the fact it all looks healthy! Plus sonographer thought she could see an embryo too so that is great news!
by my dates I am 5+5 and which makes me due 29th Dec - so I reckon you will be due a couple of days later!

Ambi · 01/05/2007 21:54

Hiya, Myleene is 4 months but she looks much further on than that. I love following the celeb pg, esp looking out for any due in decs.

This thread moves so fast I barely keep up!!

Pecka- I'm holding out for the good news you've been waiting for. I take it it was an early scan? I guess they can be deceiving then?

Cazzy/loucee - I hear you, nearly devoured 2 multipacks of nik naks over the weekend (mr ambi helped) My reasoning was that the packs were not normal size, only half sized so could eat 2 without the guilt

mad4- guess that means that if you follow your cravings you'll be ok, ie your body is crying out for what it needs (even nik naks?)

skidaddle- sounds horrible for being attacked at the mw's with the needle, some of them are rubbish aren't they, couldn't find a vein if it was signposted in neon.

peanut- i'm defo porkier too, must open trouser button to sit down "who ate all the pies"

Awen - glad scan went well, but vague dates, not so helpful

thelady- hope things are looking up for your scan on monday.

beckle- i suppose when the queasiness does hit, you might be wishing it didn't

OK I apologise if I've missed anyone, It's not so easy posting peronally as my silly pg brain has turned into a 4 second memory.

But for all the moaning re spare tyre/exhaustion/queasiness/hunger/sore norks etc. I'm still really happy to be pregnant, and still so exciting cos it's still a secret(mostly)

thelady · 01/05/2007 22:30

totally random question here: where on earth did the term 'norks' come from?

TIA

Nbg · 02/05/2007 09:15

Thelady, hope your doing ok.

Pecka, hope the bloods go ok today. Fingers crossed, your levels are tripling by the second!
xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2007 09:32

aw beckle - you are a star ((hugs)) and thanks. I couldnt pin her down on seeing the embryo but she def said she thinks she might have seen (my mum and I saw a white flicker too).

Pecka - fingers crossed for your blodds today honey xx

skidaddle · 02/05/2007 09:43

Hi all

Good luck today pecka - what time's your blood test?

How are you today thelady? Loucee and awen - if it's the same as where I am (north east) you will need to have consultant-led care as you have to have it here if your last pg/labour wasn't 'normal' as my delightful mw put it. She did say i could request mw-led care at my first appt with th consultant and they might agree but I don't fancy your chances awen with everything you went through. I was also advised against a homebirth because I also had a PPH and blood transfusion last time which I'm happy to go along with just in case it happens again... hope your mw's are a bit more supporive than mine though!

thelady - no idea where norks come from - i absolutely hate the term, it make my skin crawl, eeeww!

mad4girls - glad you're feeling so well

bambino - what's the news on the slapped face virus? Are you in the clear or still waiting?

Had to get out of bed for another lemon adn sugar pancake last night, well alright, two... I have to open my top button to sit down too ambi
