I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

macdoodle · 09/05/2007 21:55

why do they call it morning sickness when its all bloody day sickness not puking but god I feel ill - remember this from DD1 was sick right until labour god help me ((

cazzybabs · 09/05/2007 22:31

Our house sale looks like it might be off . The people whose house we are trying to buy have put it back on the market . We are held up by our buyers who have been bloody slow about everything. Oh well all we have lost £400 survey - they will have lots due to legal costs and paid over a £1000 getting everything checked. (we didn't pay any legal costs as my Uncle was doing it for free!)

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 09/05/2007 22:47

Skidaddle - have you tried hot Ribena? Last time I had a cold when pregnant, I loved this as I could kid myself it was the blackcurrant Lemsip. I used to have it when I was a kid if I didn't feel well! I passed the tip on to my old boss and it worked for him - he couldn't take cold cures as he competed in sports and had to be careful re drug testing!

becklespeckle · 10/05/2007 11:04

Morning all! Goodness, gone for a day and now struggling to catch up!
Pecka - how are you today hun? Am thinking of you x
NBG step away from the pate! Don't think you are even supposed to have vegetable pate when pg, would something like homous with a similar texture do?
Hi to Macdoodle and Curlygirl and congrats to you both!
Skidaddle - hot Ribena is superb for colds and flu, soooo yummy and really soothes sore throats and things too.
Hi to everyone else!
Well I had my scan yesterday and so far (touch wood) baby is doing well. Am 7 weeks today which puts me slightly closer to my estimated date and am due on 27th December! Baby looked like tiny tadpole and we saw a nice heartbeat too so that is the first 'danger' point passed for me (phew!). Took ages to get a good view tho so was starting to panic, my bladder was so full (because my appt was running late) I had to go and let some out a couple of times until eventually she said let it all out! Had to be tipped upside down too as baby is very low (Which I suspected as am SURE I felt implantation (altho was prob just wind or something!) and that was very low down). Very very tired today though as went to see Bryan Adams in Birmingham last night (couple of hours drive from my home) and didn't get to bed until 3am! Was worth it though - he was superb!

letsgo · 10/05/2007 11:48

Hi there sorry to butt in on this thread but I've just found out I'm pregnant and due Jan 2008. How do I find out if there's anyone else due in Jan? I know it's early to start but I would love to speak to someone at similar stage to me.

I don't know how to start a new thread either so any help would be appreciated.

You may have guessed I'm new to this!

Good Luck everyone by the way

becklespeckle · 10/05/2007 12:04

Hiya Letsgo, congrats on your pregnancy! There is a New Year Baby Thread Here .

letsgo · 10/05/2007 17:02

Thanks v much BeckleSpeckle

Ambi · 10/05/2007 17:31

Hiya All,

Got an urgent docs appt as found bleeding, but think its from the backside instead, even more worried now. I reckon bubs is ok, not worried about that but hope everything is ok bowel-wise, there was a spoonfuls of red blood. sorry if tmi, bit frightened.

macdoodle · 10/05/2007 17:42

Don't panic sounds lke piles/haemorrhoids - common in pregnancy and unlikely to be bowel nasty if not mixed in with stool sorry if TMI - go see your GP but really should be fine

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 10/05/2007 17:43

Ambi - hate to say it, probably piles, or a little tear from pushing (they say pregnancy hormones can make you a little constipated). Obviously get it checked, but hope that puts your mind at rest that it's much more likely to be harmless.

Lizzer · 10/05/2007 18:36

Oo Ambi doesn't sound nice but try not to panic.

Just signing in to say hi all, should really be doing college work but can't be arsed, brain is mush after work but typing on mn seems to be ok Hope your house gets sorted soon cazzyb, we've GOT to buy one before baby arrives as just renting and its too small, cold and just horrible for a new born. We've got a deposit now but can't see anything suitable on the market as yet, its panicking me a bit cos I know how long these things take and what can go wrong along the way

Insy thanks for the info on moltex have looked them up

PEcka, fingers crossed for tomorrow

peanutbutter · 10/05/2007 19:42

hello everyone

cazzycabs - sorry to hear your house move might have fallen through, it's anxiety that is extra unwelcome at this time isn't it.

I'll second what thisisnotmyreal and the others say about hot Ribena - you really feel you're taking something medicinal for your cold and it's lovely and comforting too.

Beckle - how lovely that you saw your little bean and you've had your mind put at rest at last! I can't wait* for my scan!! Are you still feeling okay?

Ambi, that must have been very worrying for you but piles can certainly cause that amount of blood but it's really nothing to worry about. I have to way, mine have suddenly started making their presence known too and I'm trying to force down more fruit and fruit juice and water in an effort to alleviate the syptoms, but it's hard because when i'm not feeling sick i only crave stodgy things!

Pecka - fingers crossed x

Loucee · 10/05/2007 20:40

Hi everyone

Cazzycabs - am I getting confused? Aren't you in Scotland? If so I thought the buying/selling process up here was a lot more secure? Hope it all goes through soon for you.

Ambi - I agree with the others, if it's red blood it's probably from either a tear or a pile and unfortunately if your prone to them (like me) you might have them worse as the pregnancy goes on. Try and have weetabix and lots of water and lots of green veg to soften your stools.

Becklespeckle, congratulations on your scan. It's fantastic seeing the wee un swimming around isn't it. Also amazing to see the difference those 7 wks make when you go for the 12 wk scan.

Hope everyone else is doing well, I am feeling very fat from eating crap and feel very teary.

Thinking of you Pecka.

cazzybabs · 10/05/2007 21:14

Ambi - I am sure it will turn out to be piles or a fissure rather than anything sinister. I am thinking of you.

Pecka - I shall check regularly during tomorrow to see how you get on..

Loucee - not in Scotland I am in Cambridge! But anyway we shall see. As I say, my uncle is doing all the legal stuff so all we have lost is our survey fees were as everyone else will have legal costs - he he he.

dundeemarmalade · 11/05/2007 09:47

morning all.
skidaddle - thanks for remembering re. the viva. I passed, with no corrections. I nearly fell of my chair, and cried all over the examiners but it is, at last, all over. hurrah. not sure whether to call myself dr. dundee yet though. seems a bit pretentious iykwim.

I've got a dilemma: realised yesterday that i had been intending to give up my really-quite-crappy one day a week job in my local sheet-music shop (plans made b4 bfp!). It is still a crap job, and involves standing up/running up and down stairs/lifting heavy boxes/rude customers/mentally-unstable colleagues/lying to customers cos we're always on stop with our suppliers, and I found out yesterday that I won't be able to get Statutory Maternity Allowance because I'll get Maternity Pay from the O.U., which means I have NOOOO incentive to stay on.

Whaddya reckon to quiting your v. part-time crappy job when 2 months pg, and trying to get some temping/marking/freelanceing work to replace the lost income? Am I mad? Should I stick with the crap job until I have to quit anyway bcs I'm too big? My employer is completely useless (docked my hours after I got married cos she thought I'd get pg and she'd have to pay me SMP, haven't had payslip for 2 years etc etc) so I may not even have a job to go back to. What's the right thing to do?

Ambi · 11/05/2007 11:16

Cheers girls, Doc agrees with you, relief!! It's only piles, whats with all the awful preg related things it's horrible. So glad this is anon, would find it difficult talking to my mum about most things on here!!

dundeemarmalade · 11/05/2007 11:31

hi ambi - you must be relieved. still not nice though. did the doctor recommend anything? btw, you don't have to answer this, and I'm only asking cos i'm a bit scared about things like this, but did the doctor actually have to prod around? tell me to bggr off if you want!

Ambi · 11/05/2007 12:41

S'ok, he had a prod around and concluded since there was no pain, must have been internal piles, I'm going to see a specialist to confirm which involves a camera!! (colonoscopy is it?) which I don't mind the indignity of it, it's only gonna get worse by birth-time anyways. I guess I didn't expect piles so early, more when bubs is bigger and I'm carrying more weight, so was imagining allsorts (colon cancer etc.) Why do we always imagine the worse? So you can imagine the relief!!!

becklespeckle · 11/05/2007 13:02

Ambi - glad it was just piles! (just...) You must be soooo relieved! Is good that they are going to check it right out though.
Peanutbutter - How are you? I am mightily relieved that the first scan was okay - makes the treck to the 10-12 week one much shorter! I am still worrying (as lost one at 12-13 weeks) but not as much as I was. It will soon be time for yours too! Feeling very rough though now! Starts fairly mildly in the morning and by the evening I feel terrible! I am only fancying stodgy stuff too, mostly living off of toast, cereal and pasta at the moment!
Loucee - it was lovely to see little bubba, DH was not massively impressed as it is so tiny and doesn't look like a baby at the moment! Looking forward to next scan, hopefully it will all be okay and look much more like a baby! It always amazes me how much happens in the first 3 months. I completely sympathise with you on the feeling fat bit, I am usually quite slim but am feeling V podgy now, particularly in the evenings as I have to undo my jeans after dinner! And one of my friends commented the otherday that my jeans are tight when I sit down!
Dundeemarmalade - Well done you! I would definitely use the Dr Dundee (at least on MN anyway) - you've earned it! Also re: your job, it doesn't sound like you enjoy it so if there is no incentive for you to stay then I would leave and do something freelance while you are pg. You might as well do something you enjoy if you can. The only reason I am still in my crappy job is the 9 months paid ML I will be getting!

Nbg · 11/05/2007 14:02

Hi everyone
Havent read all the messages but will catch up. Am on a friends laptop at the minute. Just introducing her to MN.

Will keep checking to see if Pecka has posted.

cazzybabs · 11/05/2007 14:25

Oh I hope it is good news for Pecka and is out celebrating!
