Hi, I'm 5+1, have a 4yr old son who currently has chicken pox which is a bit worrying. The Dr said it's fine as I have had it myself but it doesn't completely put my mind at ease. Roll on Easter and the second trimester!!!

lucindaanna · 25/02/2018 00:55

@milknosugar1 thank you - I think I've got it, I just thought the app would be a bit more hi-tech, but it's fine :)

My due date is 27 Oct. it's my first pregnancy after an ectopic one last year, I'm going for a scan tomorrow to hopefully rule out another ectopic, fingers crossed.

I am also feeling very tired and slightly sore boobs. Xx

Ebeneser · 25/02/2018 09:02

My official EDD is 28th Oct
They are going off the first day of my last period though, and I know exactly when I concieved and with that date it will be the 10th November. Baby will turn up whenever it’s ready though I guess!

I’ll be 39 by the time this baby is born, and it’s my first. Wasn’t planned, I have never wanted children, but I’m a little bit excited about it now, and my boyfriend is like a kid in a sweet shop (he’s 48 and will be his first as well).

Ebeneser · 25/02/2018 09:04

Also can I ask what things like 5+1 means? I’ve seen various posts with numbers like this but I have no idea what it means!

lucindaanna · 25/02/2018 09:08

I think "5+2" etc means the number of weeks pregnant you are plus the number of days

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 25/02/2018 09:38

Yay! Mind will be at ease for a few days now - at least until I see the midwife on Thursday for my booking appt.

It's great to see the last few October mums joining the thread. Welcome! I took a peak at the September Babies thread and it's like looking into our pregnancy futures - all scans and excitement. The reality sinking in!

@Penny31 can I ask, what are nct classes?

My symptoms are so different from my last pregnancy. I am sure it's nothing to do with the last one ending in mc though.

Last time it was sore boobs and a bit of bloating. This time I am having food adversions, cravings, weird dreams, sensitive skin, bloating, dizziness and so tired. I don't even want to go skating this morning and I LOVE skating. Still morning skickness thiugh though thank goodness.

Those getting their scan letters through, at what stage did you go to the drs? I am only 4+6 but I was hoping that I can lean on them for an early scan due to previous mc.

ATP1000 · 25/02/2018 10:06

Fantastic news @BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy!! Definitely enjoy it, all is going well x

Penny31 · 25/02/2018 10:12

@biscay nct classes are private ante natal
Classes (national childbirth trust). The content of them is a bit naff but they are brill for making a group of new mummy friends. We did a 2 day class and I’ve been in touch with most of the girls from my class ever since. In the early days of being a mummy they were a great support.

EffRam · 25/02/2018 12:50

@biscaytrafalgarfitzroy hooray that is very reassuring!
@unicornchaser no symptoms here either - very normal, I'm told. Just trying to enjoy it for now!
@Anban, congratulations. in my area you self-refer to midwife, so I just did the form online about a week ago (when I was about 4+4) and the scan came through after a week, no booking appointment yet though.

@Milknosugar1 I haven't looked into yet but I would definitely like to do some antenatal and most of my friends did NCT and on the whole have met some good friends through it.

Kitty610 · 25/02/2018 13:07

Anyone else feeling like they can’t do another 6 weeks of nausea??

tappitytaptap · 25/02/2018 14:49

@Kitty610 yes totally!! I think mine went at 12 weeks or so with DS, and I'm 7 today, 5 weeks feels like a lifetime.

twobambinos · 25/02/2018 14:59

@kitty yes it's horrible. Seems to be getting worse too. Hopefully it will bugger off at around the 12 weeks. That's all thats keeping me going at the moment.

Welcome to all the new joiners. @ebeneser ar my hospital if the scan shows more than 7 day difference in due date they adjust it. I think this is for accurate induction if needed. If you know you aren't due until 10th November and they start counting from 28th for example could be induced as overdue unnecessarily.

@biscay it's great to see the 3+ isn't it.

twobambinos · 25/02/2018 14:59

@caoireach hope the meds are kicking in for you and that you are doing ok.

Has anyone bought anything for baby yet?!

caoraich · 25/02/2018 16:55

Thanks @twobambinos - feeling a wee bit better, less vomiting and just nausea mostly now. Fingers crossed things continue to improve!

I haven't bought anything - waiting until after the 12 week scan - but I did spend ages confusing myself looking at car seats and prams today. "Travel system" is a whole new concept to me!! What about everyone else?

ladydolly · 25/02/2018 18:00

anban sorry to hearof your previous loss. I had an early booking in apt and requested an early scan but when I got my 12 wk scan date and hadn't heard anything I called the epu myself and they booked me for 7+2 which was last sunday, they put me at 7+5 and nice heartbeat.

Last time I found that although the nausea didn't really go until 13 weeks, weeks 8 & 9 were peak and it eased off after that. I remember going on a work trip at 11 weeks and feeling fine most of that week.

I didn't do nct as I have a lot of friends in the area and at least 3 were on mat leave at the same time as me but in hindsight I wish I'd still done it.

EffRam · 26/02/2018 06:31

Hooray!

Hope everyone has a good week. My main aim is to stay warm and avoid the snow. I am very over winter, where is spring?!

Katievb · 26/02/2018 10:56

Welcome to all the newbies... 8+4 today for me, 1 week today till my first midwife app! Luckily still no sickness just VERY VERY tired. Xx

CaptainWentworth · 26/02/2018 12:11

Hi all- hope people are feeling ok today. I’m 5+3 now and only had a tiny bit of nausea so far, although my boobs are quite tender!

I’ve just been on the phone to my GP surgery to get into the system as it were. Apparently they don’t want to see me until I’m 8-9 weeks; have an appointment with the GP when I’ll be 9 weeks exactly, then she will refer for the 12 week scan, and the midwife will contact me. All seems a bit late to me. Suppose I’m a bit more worried than usual as I had a loss at 10 weeks last time. Also I’m on holiday for a week from 13+2 so I’m worried that if there’s a long waiting list for 12 week scans I might not get one till I’m 14+ Sad

EffRam · 26/02/2018 12:26

@CaptainWentworth I am 5+3 too :)

GPs seem a bit laid back about it all. Is there any way you could contact the midwifery team directly, and just explain your concerns? I've had my scan appointment through already even though I haven't got my first midwife appointment yet. I had a self referral I could do and it asked for holiday dates. After a loss (so sorry :( ) I think it's completely understandable to want some reassurance from them!

CaptainWentworth · 26/02/2018 12:42

Thanks Milknosugar and EffRam. I’m not sure I’d find an early sna that helpful really as there’s nothing they can do if there is a problem- although I suppose seeing a heartbeat would be nice. I’m more concerned about ensuring the 12 week scan happens on time.

I do still have a number for the midwife (if it’s not changed in 18 months!) so I could try that and mention the holiday dates. Thanks for the suggestion. DH is actually a GP (in a different area) so is somewhat reassuring but really he doesn’t know that much about how maternity care works as it’s all handled by the midwives! He just likes doing the six week baby checks...

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 26/02/2018 15:15

Yay @EffRam! Good news on the 3+
