@betsy2018 I had early scans with my little boy due to bleeding, I had to have a full bladder so drank a 500ml bottle of water in the car on the way,(as soon as we got there I had to pee 🙈 so I guess my bladder was empty. They still managed to see a tiny heart beat (think i was 7 weeks).

So my advance would probably be take a bottle of water but drink it while you are in the waiting room maybe?

betsy2018 · 17/02/2018 11:10

@justtowarm haha good advice! Thankyou, really nervous trying to remain positive 👍🏼

justtowarm · 17/02/2018 11:28

@betsy2018 good luck with the scan, I remember how tense it was in the waiting room.

In our hospital the epu waiting room is shared with another department (can't remember which) and in walked my partners great aunt with her son. She has dementia and went straight home and told my partners grandma that she had seen his uncle (who is gay) with his new fancy woman (i liked being a fancy woman 😂).

We had to go home and tell everyone it was us and why we were there so they didn't worry. So much for keeping being pregnant secret that time 😳

I hope you have a less strange experience than I did. Let us know how you get on :)

betsy2018 · 17/02/2018 11:35

@justtowarm 😂😂 that's brilliant I hadn't even thought about bumping into anyone though! Not planning on telling anyone for a while yet but will make me feel more comfortable if anyone does guess, I'm going to a hen do in a few weeks (before 12 weeks), it's at Butlins for three nights although I'm thinking of only staying to two now, I have been before and it was hard work with plenty of drink so I have a feeling it's going to be long weekend. If they don't guess with me not drinking i will be shocked, I'm known for likening a beer or 10🙄

justtowarm · 17/02/2018 11:48

@betsy2018 haha my friends would instantly know if I wasn't drinking 😉

I have told a couple of people this time, because after I told people last time it was all a bit easier.

My main reason though was I am away next week with work and I told my colleague who is also going because my partner was worried would something happened and they wouldn't know. don't know what he thinks is going to happen at a sleepy hotel 🙈

tappitytaptap · 17/02/2018 14:28

I have a hen weekend when I'm going to bw just shy of 8 weeks. There is also a hot tub I can't go in 🙈. God knows how I'm going to pull it off 😂

switch0 · 17/02/2018 16:27

Hey folks! Can I tentatively join? A completely unplanned second bfp edd 19th Oct...

@ATP1000 I had no idea there was Zika risk in Thailand, thanks so much for mentioning it - I was about to book some flights! Anyone got any ideas on where to go on holiday instead?!

betsy2018 · 17/02/2018 17:56

Early scan went well, little heartbeat flickering away, feel like a weight has been lifted and much more at ease with lack of symptoms!

betsy2018 · 17/02/2018 17:58

Oh and @justtowarm I only saw someone I knew 🙄 don't think they spotted me thanks to me discreetly covering my face with my hair... yeh right

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 17/02/2018 18:01

That's great @betsy2018! Think I am going to go for an early myself to hopefully get some peace of mind

Penny31 · 17/02/2018 18:10

Has anyone else put weight on? I feel huuuge :( not so much my tummy area but my face, arms, legs, boobs

justtowarm · 17/02/2018 18:10

@betsy2018 so please the scan went well! It's such a wonderful feeling when you see the little flicker :)

Ahh the good old hair hide, that must be where my partner went wrong... he has no hair 😂

DwangelaForever · 17/02/2018 18:48

Milknosugar1 - I have an under active thyroid. Are you on medication or not? I saw an endocrinologist before my last pregnancy as my gp didn't know about the pregnancy implications. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I had to up my dosage of thyroxine by 25mcg. Last time I also had regular blood tests for my thyroid, it was crazy how my levels went up and down. Think last pregnancy I had one every 10 weeks. I've got one booked for next week for this pregnancy. Xx

Could you ask for a repeat blood test just to check? I was told that the baby's thyroid gland doesn't develop until around 15weeks so before then they are relying on you. If yours is low as is mine, you may need a bit of a top up with some medication to make sure there is plenty of thyroxine to go around. X

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 18/02/2018 08:29

Managed to hold my wee all night and got this this morning. Yay!

MamaL86 · 18/02/2018 08:50

Woohoo @BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy. How far along are you? I managed the same yesterday and was so relieved Smile

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 18/02/2018 09:05

I'm 4+5 so spot on. I'm also taking part in a Clearblue clinical trial where they analyse urine samples from weeks 6-10 which makes me think they're developing a digital that goes beyond 3 weeks. Get £50 vouchers as payment so if anyone's interested Google it.

EffRam · 18/02/2018 09:10

@biscaytrafalgarfitzroy yay that's exciting! I've got one that I am waiting to take, want to make sure it comes up 2-3 and not do it too soon ha! Was thinking tomorrow at 4+3 but maybe I'll give it an extra couple of days.

How are you feeling?

Going to fill in self referral for midwife tomorrow. Need to choose a hospital. But I'm guessing you can change later if you want?

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 18/02/2018 09:29

That was my last digital @EffRam but I know I will want to see a 3+weeks next weekend so will have to buy another pack of 2.

I self referred to my local specialist maternity hospital (which I'm very lucky to have) and already have my booking appt on March 1st by which time, fingers crossed, I'll be 6+3 then will book an early scan in from there. Means I'm going to have to tell work this week though Confused

My symptoms are feeling tired, headache and queasy in the morning which I guess are the classic symptoms really! How about you?

@Milknosugar1 I originally signed up for the ovulation trials and then got my bfp so told them and they said they had a different one I could do for early pregnancy. I'm speaking to them tomorrow so will ask how others can sign up and let you know.
