Afternoon ladies,

Thank you for your supportive comments - am not long back from the hospital, and all is ok.

Baby is measuring fine for dates, and hr was 140 - must admit to bursting into tears (again!) when I heard it.

They've said that what I'm suffering from is an 'irritable uterus' - and that I'm likely to have these contractions now until I give birth!!! I've been told to rest (haha!) and to contact them again if they get very painful again like they did last night. They suggested that I should take a couple of paracetemol to ease the discomfort - and when I told them that I can't keep anything down, they offered me anti-emetics! I refused them - but I wish I'd seen them 12 weeks ago!

Having not felt babe since before the weekend, as soon as the doc had a feel and a prod, it started tap dancing all over again!

Now off to watch crap tv until 3, when I have to pick ds up to go to the dentist ... then I have a Welsh lesson tonight ... so much for resting!

Thanks girls - it says a lot that the first people I wanted to tell that all was ok was my mn friends. I appreciate your support.

greedygreedyguzzler · 08/05/2007 14:00

just about to post for you ejt and say i hope you are ok, but you are! so hooray! glad you have been checked out and all is ok.

honyapple - try bravissimo, they have a quite nice nursing bra and matching knockers, not amazingly sexy but better than the norm!

greedygreedyguzzler · 08/05/2007 14:01

whoops!!!!!!!! what a typo! meant to say knickers of course! but matching knockers would be quite fun!!!

Apricott · 08/05/2007 14:29

ejt - great news! I can stop obsessively checking for updates now. Thanks for letting us know. A x

Apricott · 08/05/2007 14:31

Obviously not great news that you have an irritable womb , commiserations on that, but you know what I mean!

MrsFish · 08/05/2007 17:16

Glad everything is ok with lo ejt, now do as you are told and try to relax when you can

Well ds had been ill all day and didn't eat much yesterday and nothing today, throwing up after every drink of water and sleeping lots, until 4.30 that is, the change was immediate, he led me into the kitchen to his high chair and polished off two slices of toast and a pkt of Quavers. Kids eh, they never cease to amaze me

PolarMummy · 08/05/2007 17:50

ejt only just getting cought up on the thread so glad to hear that everything is OK (relatively speaking of course)

MrsFish why did you have to mention the Quavers?? Need to get home quickly tonight but I am now wondering if I have time to stop at the garage and buy a packet

J20BABY · 08/05/2007 18:29

ejt, how scary for you, glad baby is ok but you have to rest, can you get any help?

been really busy in new house and dd is playing me up unmercilessly, put her to bed at 6, but she just doesn't know when to stop, think i will have an early night too, still getting bad headaches, practically living on co-codomol

Hi everyone, getting lost on all these threads .

Not been all for a while as sciatica has been worse ever! I get it everytime I'm preg, or just after and its getting worse each preg. Ended up at hospital, 5 diff tablets from docs including morphine for night time, other painkillers for daytime every 3 hours and diazapane (bad spelling) for the shaking when the pain gets too bad.

SPent all last week unable to walk, sit for long, or drive and on my own with the boys . Very difficult and emotional week!

Called into hospital on thursday by my consultant re sciatica but also discussed the poss planned c/s option and it is up to me. If I want to go that way, they will support me. Not sure what to do now!

ANyone else having to make this decision?

Thanks

MrsFish · 08/05/2007 21:00

Oh, how awful Jersey, puts my moans about horrid heartburn into perspective

jersey · 08/05/2007 21:07

Thanks Mrs Fish, I don't seem to have straightforward preg. At this is the last time!!!

Kittiwake · 09/05/2007 08:42

Morning all

Glad everything is okay Ejt and Jersey sorry to hear what you are going throuh your sciatica sounds horrible.

Had midwife appt yesterday and heard the heartbeat for the first time amazing affected me more than the scan for some reason. I am starting to get quite excited now and particulalry after the next scan I feel I will be able to start enjoying this rather than just being terrified something will go wrong. Is anyone else a first timer or is it just me on this thread?

Have put on only 1kg so don't look any different but I wasn't a skinny minnie to start with so maybe that has something to do with it. Midwife doesn't seem worried anyway said everyone is different.

Starting to think about stuff to buy now, although we are being loaned lots of stuff but we do need to get a bigger car as we have a tiny Ka Don't know where to start though as not sure how big we need to go what cars do you have?

MrsFish · 09/05/2007 08:46

We have an Audi A2 and a Smart and manage just fine

gemmamc · 09/05/2007 09:12

I haven't got a car at all, but I guess that's only an option for people living in London or close to good transport.

I am considering car sharing, or perhaps buying a car at some stage later - but I am convinced it must be fine to have small cars and I glad to hear people confirming this. I wouldn't be tempted by SUVs. They make you feel safe, but they aren't at all. And they make you spend loads on fuel....

Otherwise I can't claim to be an expert on cars having not owned one for years...but I can say that grew up in Italy where most people traditionally owned small cars (until the SUV fad took over very recently, that is) - and I really don't remember ever having problems fitting everything in the car when travelling to our frequent trips (virtually every weekend! those were the days!) to the mountains and seaside with all our skis and beach equipment...and maybe a token cousin squeezed in the middle seat between my brother and me!!

honeyapple · 09/05/2007 09:36

Morning,

Since moving out of London 2 yrs ago I have become much more reliant on my car. I drive a Zsara Picasso which is great- I already have 2 DC... and it should take another car seat in the back for this LO. It has a fantasticly HUGE boot- which I love... and subsequently it is FULL of junk! Never without a jumper/umbrella/welly/pushchair/kite/bucket and spade/board game/plastic bag/dolly/playing cards.... etc etc etc... it's a veritable tardis!
(Mind you there is a new 7 seater Picasso out now which I rather fancy...DREAM ON honeyapple!!)

Seeing my MW this afternoon. Looking forward to hearing HB as been a bit worried since my fall... however I think I have felt LO moving about, so should be fine.

Jersey- how horrible for you. Never been in situation re elective C section- but IMO I would always go for V-birth if possible- just DO NOT fancy such serious surgery.

I weighed myself at my MIL's house at the weekend and have put on at least 7 lbs already. . Prob as I have been stuffing my face rather... How much is 1 KG in Lbs??
(Sorry i havent gone metric yet!)

PolarMummy · 09/05/2007 09:52

Hi Kittiwake, I am a First Timer too and also starting to think about buying stuff as for cars my husband and I both have Estate cars (Live in the sticks with no public transport) so space is not a problem. Which is turning out to be a bit of a problem in its self as it doesn't limit our choice of Prams and Buggies etc!

Also after reading about the contents of HoneyApple's car, if I ever have to be stranded in a car somewhere, I want to be in her car, I bet you there is even an emergency packet of crisps or sweets somewhere as well

Kittiwake · 09/05/2007 09:59

Good luck with the MW Honeyapple it is so reassuring to hear the heartbeat.

The Picasso was one of the cars we were considering mainly cos it quite cheap for what you get. We live in the middle of nowhere, with no public transport and we love to go camping so deffo need a big boot.Thinking of getting a diesel so it does more mpg. I think DH is a bit reluctant to get a 'family' car as makes him feel a bit old .

A kg is abot 2lb I think.

MrsFish · 09/05/2007 10:02

Honeyapple - think yourself lucky, I have put on just over a stone on already

Kittiwake · 09/05/2007 10:03

oooh crosspost polarmummy nice to know someone else is struggling with the pram buggy thing. we have been offered a loan of a hugemongous three wheeler thing which my sister in law used fom birth but it is only forward facing so I'm not so sure. maybe use this and buy a smaller lighter fold up stroller type thing anyone got any reccomendations?

MrsFish · 09/05/2007 10:03

1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds

MrsFish · 09/05/2007 10:04

We bought a maclaren buggy which we used from birth with ds, not a problem it being forward facing

Kittiwake · 09/05/2007 10:10

My MIL has a thing about forward facing pram/buggies she started telling me about when she used to walk 3 miles to the shops how important it was to be able to interact with your baby and how they didn't have all this fancy equipment in their day or be able to afford expensive holidays when their children were little. I just laughed and said when we were children we used to live in a shoe which shut her up.

MrsFish · 09/05/2007 10:14

Our buggy has a window in the canopy bit, so when baby is lying flat you can still see each other

Mumpbump · 09/05/2007 10:50

Morning all! I am not even going to attempt to mention everyone as I am quite busy at work this week...

But re: cars and buggies, I would seriously recommend getting a sling like the Kari-Me (guess which one I had!!). They take up no room, enable you to carry the baby around for at least the first few months which is reassuring for the baby and are cheap compared to buggies. That means you can go straight to a sitting up buggy rather than worrying about a pram and defer any decision to buy a bigger car...

With cars, do get them to put the car seat in. Dh bought a car seat which it turned out didn't fit in his car! Fortunately, my mum was at the hospital when we were leaving so we were able to put it in her car. Otherwise, dh would have had to go home to get my car whilst I kicked my heels outside the hospital with a newborn baby. We were not the most organised of people when ds arrived. Much easier this time as we already have everything we really need...

Must get on. Hope your sciatica improves, Jersey. I had it towards the end of the pg last time and it is horrid!!
