September 2018.... still trying to believe it's a BFP

Jfw82 · 26/12/2017 20:47

Starting a thread with cautious optimism, BFP on Christmas Eve and again today (on ic, first response and CB digital Blush) If all goes well EDD 3 Sept. this will be DC2 for us, DS is 13 months and completely shocked as this was first month TTC when last time took 6 months. Hope to have some company here soon Grin

Anyone else playing the game of “drive yourself up the wall with anxiety over symptoms that come and go”? I beer between feeling really pregnant, and then feeling like I imagined the whole thing.

Namechangedtoscream · 10/01/2018 09:13

Thank you. I'm sorry for being such a misery!! My EDD is 5th September so I think I'm about 5+6 or so

Paranormalbouquet · 10/01/2018 09:16

@Namechanged my symptoms went from around 5+4 to 6+0 and are back with a vengeance now. Wasn’t even tired and didn’t have sore breasts or anything. Fingers crossed it’s just normal variation.

Paranormalbouquet · 10/01/2018 09:18

@Secondsop I think it’s clear that everyone on this thread is doing this!

BadHominem · 10/01/2018 09:44

I'm 4w0d today, which feels like way too little time ha passed since I first got a positive test a week ago. Went to see the GP and was most disappointed to find it was the GP that doesn't do "friendly" so have managed to leave the room feeling like I've wasted their time when really I haven't. They gave me a prescription for ondansetron though, which is the important thing for when the HG potentially kicks in in a week or two's time.

They've also flagged for the midwife to contact me sooner rather than later because of previous mcs and my request for a reassurance scan at 8wks.

In the meantime I shall continue to bankrupt myself with FRERs in an attempt to convince myself that things are progressing. So jealous right now of the women that don't realise they're pregnant until half-way through the pregnancy.

bitzy12 · 10/01/2018 09:49

@BadHominem sorry but what is ondansetron? I usually have hg, I'm 6 weeks now and nausea is starting. I'm open to try anything if it does start, cyclizine never works. Usually in hospital on a drip x

muffyduffster · 10/01/2018 10:01

Crikey, some of these symptoms sound horrid! There was me feeling a bit sorry for myself that I didn't fancy breakfast Blush (I always fancy breakfast!)
I'm 5+0 today and enjoyed the little picture on Ovia of the tadpole!

BadHominem · 10/01/2018 10:12

@bitzy12 it's another antisickness medication. Works really well for me! Refused to even try cyclizine; makes me feel very sleepy and the whole point of trying to reduce the nausea was to be able to work. I find my HG stays under control with ondansetron and with regular small snacks so that my stomach is never truly empty. Hoping I don't get it this time though.

bitzy12 · 10/01/2018 11:02

@BadHominem thanks, I'll keep that in mind for i need it. Really hope you manage to get through your pregnancy hg free xx

Flybynight1 · 10/01/2018 11:13

Am I the only one using OPKs as a sign of continuing pregnancy...?! 😂 Yes I'm a nutter but I have 25 left and the good strong line is very reassuring!

No symptoms here really except some mild back ache and slightly sensitive nipples. Still early days though (4+3 I reckon), the midwives here do booking in at about 8 weeks so I'll wait a week or so before making an appt. we went for an early scan for DS at 7+3 which was lovely but don't know if we will manage this time due to work/no out of hours childcare! Second child syndrome kicking in already 😂

needahugbug · 10/01/2018 11:30

Sorry I just need to get it out there but is anyone really scared about having 2 so close. I’m now starting to worry if I’m making a huge mistake having 2 so close :( x

Secondsop · 10/01/2018 11:42

I am wavering over whether to go for an early scan - my husband is away for work till mid Feb so on the one hand I would like not to be worrying about it the whole time. But then if something was wrong but not manifesting itself, I wouldn’t want to find out on my own.

Paranormalbouquet · 10/01/2018 11:49

Fly I hate OPKs at the best of times! Needahug I’m worried about the big age gap!

bitzy12 · 10/01/2018 11:53

I don't think you can ever win with ages gaps to be honest. The eldest one in our family will be 13 - stroppy miserable teenager. The youngest will be 4 and is very used to all the attention on him so no doubt he will find a new baby difficult. Then a 9 year old and 6 year old between those 2.

I honestly don't think it matters - it's bloody hard work whatever the age gap lol

FannyTheFlamingo · 10/01/2018 12:03

@needahugbug I'm going from one extreme to the other. On one hand, DD1 will never remember a time that she was an only child, her memory will always be as a big sister, which I think is lovely. And I'm hoping they'll be close and play together etc.. On the other hand, I was trying to get DD back to sleep at 4am and wondering how I'm going to cope with that and feeding a tiny baby at the same time. DP doesn't do anything so I'm going to have to do a lot of forward planning! At the end of the day, we'll cope, and it'll be wonderful!

twiggy123 · 10/01/2018 12:21

I think it's normal to worry about age differences. I have a stroppy 12 year old and 9 year old whom is quite clingy to me. I worry that I'm going to make everything unsettled for them🙁.
My friends who all have small gaps coped fine

BadHominem · 10/01/2018 12:23

22mths between my two. It hasn't been easy but I don't think it's easy however you plan it. They're best mates and it was totally worth the pain. There'll be 3.5 between the youngest and this one if it sticks - and I'm now worrying it's too big a gap. You can't win!

kirinm · 10/01/2018 13:00

How can you go from one day having zero symptoms to the next having all the bloody symptoms? I feel nauseous if I don't eat but am struggling to eat what I was able to wolf down last night. And I'm sooooo tired.

Going to try to force myself to do some exercise tonight but 6pm is still really far away so that could change.

needahugbug · 10/01/2018 13:00

Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel “slightly” better. Like you @FannyTheFlamingo I don’t know how I will cope at night my as my DD is officially the worlds worst sleeper and wakes every 2 hours at least! I also do all of the parenting :( it seemed such a good idea when we talked about it but now it’s actually real I’m not so sure. I know I’d receive mixed reactions from family and friends so that doesn’t help either x

Paranormalbouquet · 10/01/2018 13:10

Kirin it’s weird isn’t it. I was so sick all morning, but suddenly it lifted at 1145 and I had some lunch just now. Hoping it stays away now I’ve had a sandwich.

Secondsop · 10/01/2018 13:31

@needahugbug I had a small age gap, and yes it can be a bit full-on but one huge advantage I found is that you’re still in baby-mode and you’ve got all the stuff around you; with a bigger gap you have to get yourself into it all again! I also found that when I had DS2, DS1 suddenly, magically, appeared much bigger and much more mature.

Sals27 · 10/01/2018 14:01

Hi @balibound here. Seeing as my jet setting is behind me a name change seemed apt.

Got my digi result this morning so now we finally believe its happening! Have you all notified your GP already?

September 2018.... still trying to believe it's a BFP
Secondsop · 10/01/2018 14:04

Congratulations on the digi @sals27!

I’ve got my appointment with the GP on Friday morning.

FannyTheFlamingo · 10/01/2018 14:06

@Sals27 Where I live, you have to have a GP appointment before you get a booking in appointment. Mine is this week (6 weeks) and if it's the same as last time, they'll schedule my midwife for around 10wks. Some places you can skip the GP and go straight to the midwife, but I think that's usually between 8-10wks unless you have history of pregnancy loss of health issues.
