Just posting on here again as I haven't been here for a while.

Has anyone else had weird cramping (not overly painful but enough to feel a bit period pain-like) at 24 weeks?

I've been feeling them for the past hour and they aren't getting worse, nor are they accompanied by any other symptoms. Could they be Braxton Hicks? I don't remember having these with my daughter but then that was 8 years ago! Hmm

ClareB83 · 28/02/2018 14:01

Sorry @NooNooHead1981 I'm a first time mum and haven't experienced Brixton Hicks yet.

But wow @dinksandbinks and @Heregoeseverything those are some creative nightmares!!

Congratulations @Mummyloves09 - great to hear Amayah is doing so well. Wishing you all the best and keeping fingers crossed for an uneventful NICU stay

Heregoeseverything · 28/02/2018 15:52

Yikes @dinksandbinks , that sounds like a stress-related dream? Also sounds like you were thinking fast in difficult (dream) circumstances, many congrats! Struggling to discern the meaning behind mine, but also feel like I need to eat waffles for the first time in 10 years Grin.

@NooNoo I have had mild cramps (I'm 21+4) recently - not quite at period pain level, more achey. Oh and also sometimes cramps after eating.

SparklesandBubbles · 28/02/2018 16:58

@Mummyloves09 - sounds like your little girl is doing really well and is clearly a fighter. Well done her and you. Do you know how long she'll stay in NICU for? Or is it a see how she progresses day by day?

Welcome @dinksandbinks. You're due 5 days before me. We're team yellow again like we did with our first (a little boy). I'm also having the weirdest dreams. Sometimes they are scary other times just plain odd!! Like doing a water raft race in a flooded lost city and having a hoover tube to help paddle which I dropped and we got stuck!

I too am not sleeping very well at the moment. I woke up with a completely dead shoulder this morning. I have a super wriggler as well - yesterday it kicked me so hard when I was in bed I jumped and woke up DH!

In fact I seem to be suffering from extreme tiredness at the moment. I'm taking a nap every day when my DS has his nap and I fall properly asleep. Bit worried as I'm getting nothing done at all! Anyone else feeling this tired?

@NooNooHead1981 I've had a bit of cramping / tightening since about 24/25 weeks. I think they are Brixton hicks but if you are worried talk to your midwife.

Northernbeachbum · 28/02/2018 18:52

@mummyloves09 you're both doing fantastically, I hope you're having time to look after yourself too.

@ClareB83 glad all went well at your check up, I'm also finding getting the sleeping position right an imposibility.

I'm having all the weird dreams too! @NooNoo I've also been having period pain like cramps. I've discovered if I get up and wander around they stop, I have been assuming they're braxton hicks but I'm not sure. Really should have asked when I saw the midwife today but totally forgot!

All well here, he's growing right and the midwife used the doppler so we could hear his heartbeat. I'd love a good nights sleep though, my body hurts if I stay in one position too long. @Sparklesandbubbles I'm finding myself more sleepy than ever at the moment and could easily nap every day

dinksandbinks · 28/02/2018 19:17

@Heregoeseverything - possibly a stress dream! We have neverending ongoing building works, work is nuts, I get endless crap from the consultant... I think I'm just naturally a stresshead anyway! (Btw did you get waffles? We didn't - got snowed in!)

@Sparklesandbubbles Yay another crazy dreamer! That one sounds really odd, at least you had a raft in it, even if you lost the hoover-oar!

I am also utterly shattered. Not quite 1st trimester shattered, when I just wanted to sleep wherever I stopped, but definitely shattered. I need a minimum 1 hour nap when I get in from work, and usually sleep 10 hours at night. Well, I would if it weren't for SPD and nightmares!

@NooNooHead1981 I get a lot of stretching and pulling. No idea what it is, had assumed it was ligaments but maybe not? Hasn't bothered me but might mention it to midwife as I have no idea what braxton hicks would feel like!

Heregoeseverything · 28/02/2018 23:10

@dinksandbinks Alas no - also snowed in! Tried to walk to the end of the road and nearly broke my neck so am now housebound (by order of DH, who dutifully ran my errands) but have a hospital appointment to somehow get to tomorrow which will be interesting!

As to the crazy dreams, I guess it makes sense that if our bodies are going nuts our minds should too!

Is anyone else getting nosebleeds? I've had them weekly since week 8, but in the last 7 days I've had five, including a particularly severe one at an important work presentation Shock Blush

Bluesnail · 01/03/2018 07:09

Also snowed in here-the most snow I've seen for years and it's still coming down!
I've also been having weird dreams, since basically the start of my pregnancy and they show no signs of letting up. Thankfully not had any scary ones but they are so vivid and random I feel like my sleep is less restful because of them, if that makes any sense.
I've not had nosebleeds as such but have definitely noticed blood when blowing my nose sometimes, which is really unusual for me. Sounds awful getting one during a work presentation @Heregoeseverything!

dinksandbinks · 01/03/2018 10:03

@Bluesnail same here! We have about 20cm.

@Heregoeseverything I have had a few nosebleeds but mostly just a sore, stuffy nose and there’s lots of blood when I blow. It’s been like this since we started IVF so it’s def hormone related!

I’m wfh again today but I have pilates tonight and I really want to go. It would mean digging the car out and DH is working late. Is walking a mile in thick snow with SPD a really bad idea?!

Bluesnail · 01/03/2018 10:42

@dinksandbinks I wouldn't recommend it, just went to the shop (which is normally a two minute walk) and trudging through the snow has made my pelvis very unhappy!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 01/03/2018 11:46

@dinksandbinks Really wouldn't recommend. Think how much harder running on wet sand is and I imagine thick snow would have the same effect.

We for some reason bought a house in a lovely village on the coast. There is one road in/out which involves a steep hill to get from sea level up the cliff and it's currently impassible. Although even if we made it up the cliff, the main road is closed both directions after a few miles.

dinksandbinks · 01/03/2018 12:03

@Dinosauratemydadffodils That sounds idyllic! But frustrating in the snow!! Our house is at the top of a hill just outside the Yorkshire Dales. We bought it for the forest at the back of the house, and the views, but it’s a circular road with one exit/entry at the bottom, currently scattered with abandoned cars and woefully ungritted! I have just seen Ocado van go past so maybe I’ll just dig the car out. We have a 4x4 so it’s not my driving that worries me, it’s other people and abandoned cars :/

Think you and @Bluesnail are right about not walking. I’m getting such cabin fever though and really want to stretch my legs!

Hope everyone is warm and safe today ❄️❄️❄️

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 01/03/2018 12:15

@dinksandbinks I get the cabin fever. We haven't been out since the midwife on tuesday as ds's groups/pre-school have been closed. Dh is working from home because he doesn't want to get stuck somewhere and so I've spent the morning making cups of coffee (dh & the smell makes me want to be sick), reading Little Red Riding Hood (ds) and now they both want a hot lunch rather than the egg mayonnaise sandwiches we were going to have.

Oh and despite being only 200 metres from the sea, all I can see out of the window is white so can't see tomorrow being any better.

Northernbeachbum · 01/03/2018 14:58

@heregoeseverything I've had a few nose bleeds but mainly been like @dinksandbinks and had the bunged up nose and bloody tissues when I blow it. Does lead to a temporary panic if you do that then fold over the toilet roll then use it to wipe Blush

@dinosauratemydaffodils I'd be the same cooped up, does sound a lovely place to live though

Snow is currenlty not too bad here but I think it will get worse later so I've come back to WFH for the afternoon.....a nap is very tempting though

Ca55andraMortmain · 01/03/2018 16:40

Wow @mummyloves09 just seen your news! Huge congrats and delighted to hear that Amayah is doing so well. What a little fighter.

Suffering from cabin fever here too - I remember in 2010 when we had all that snow spending the whole week snuggled up on the sofa watching films with my flatmates and drinking hot chocolate and going sledging. It's.not quite the same with a toddler who's scared of snow, an increasingly massive bump and what I fear is going to turn out to be SPD! Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm!

Ive been meaning to ask - is the FB group still running and if so would someone be able to add me?

Heregoeseverything · 01/03/2018 16:54

@dinksandbinks I definitely wouldn't recommend it, even without the SPD! It's so so icy, I nearly broke my neck yesterday when I ventured down my road, and was terrified when kids started throwing snowballs near me, suddenly felt really vulnerable. Now on house arrest...

I must have a particularly delicate pregnant nose Grin, it's always been hardy before! I literally sneezed yesterday and got a nosebleed, though these days I don't normally need even that much to get going! @Bluesnail It was mortifying to have to run out of presentation covered in blood but I had to laugh... also hadn't told all my colleagues about the pregnancy but had to basically announce it as a result... I'll add it to my list of Humiliating Pregnancy-related Experiences to share with the little one when she's older...!

Northernbeachbum · 01/03/2018 17:14

@heregoeseverything you were doing well to keep it quiet still! I am SO bumpy now, theres no denying it even with a coat on!

How do you know if you're developing SPD, I'm guessing if I'm asking I'm not given how painful it sounds but my hips and lower back are starting to cause pain unless I'm lying flat on my back

Heregoeseverything · 01/03/2018 17:20

@northernbeachbum I'm not sure how many people I was fooling but certainly there were a number of colleagues there whom I don't see often and who only saw me sitting down under a table at the presentation, and they were very surprised... They might well have worked it out if I'd had to stand up for any other reason!!

I also have some pain in my hips and lower back (and the bones inside my bum cheeks!) when I walk more than short distances but it's manageable so I guess not SPD... yet!

dinksandbinks · 01/03/2018 17:48

@Heregoeseverything Pilates has been cancelled so the decision was made for me! I was still slightly tempted to walk... but you're totally right, much more sensible to stay in. I missed the part about your nosebleed in a presentation btw!! Glad you are also keeping a list of "things that happened when I was pregnant with you", mainly around the inconvenient places I threw up or fainted.

@Northernbeachbum Mine started with just a mild ache right between my legs, like I'd been kicked. It has just gradually become more and more painful. The worst pain is when I do anything asymmetric, like crossing my legs, stepping from side to side, taking long strides. OH and putting knickers on. You have to sit down to get dressed! Stairs are painful (I go up on my hands and knees) and changing from sitting to standing and vice versa. My pain is mainly between my legs, but if I overdo it, it radiates out to my hips and lower back and bum bones (whatever they are called). Coccyx is also painful.

It's a spectrum of pain, so keep an eye on it! Mine started really gradually. I hope you don't have it, it's a pain in the arse (hah).

TBH I'm not entirely sure it's SPD, as I've got very mobile hips and think that might be partly to blame. The midwife said it sounded like it SPD, but referred me to physio to confirm. In the meantime just doing lots and lots and lots of pelvic floor exercises and going to ante natal pilates too.

Northernbeachbum · 01/03/2018 20:01

@dinksandbinks that sounds horrid. I'm hypermobile so it may be that playing up as I'm definitely nowhere near the level of pain you are in

I really need to remember to do pelvic floor exercises, sneezing and laughing too much cause issues already Blush

Northernbeachbum · 01/03/2018 20:03

@heregoeseverything ah so bump was well hidden under the desk. At least they were too polite to ask, I've been quizzed since Xmas. I'm at the stage where customers just congratulate me when they see me. They don't even ask, I must look more pregnant than I am!!

Heregoeseverything · 01/03/2018 20:22

@northernbeachbum I'm hypermobile also, to be honest I was prepared for the worst and expecting SPD by now! All things considered I'm not too bad, though I do find that my joints generally are sorer, do you get that too? I've been waking up several times a night with the need to readjust my whole skeleton which I think is a pregnancy/hypermobility special combo!

The cleaner at my workplace did say, "So, how many weeks?" when I was 18 weeks gone. I was astonished, having told only 2 colleagues and foolishly believing that I just looked like I'd had a big lunch!

Nosebleedgate was compounded by the fact that I'm in a male-dominated role and was the only woman in a room full of men... I suppose that makes me a little more reticent to announce the pregnancy, it's already a bit out of the ordinary that I'm a woman, never mind a pregnant one shoving her womanhood in everyone's faces!

Heregoeseverything · 01/03/2018 20:23

@dinksandbinks That sounds absolutely horrific, HOW were you planning to walk for 10 metres, never mind a mile?! You poor thing!

Northernbeachbum · 01/03/2018 20:47

@heregoeseverything my joints are sore, nights are a pain as I get comfy then wake up a few hours later in agony and have to move. I can't do the sleeping on the left all night as my shoulder is agony by midnight but I do try. I think the cold isn't helping either (I do feel about 90 saying that though Blush) I think seeing ourselves every day means we don't realise how much we've changed shape. I'm in a male dominated industry too and to be fair the guys have been amazing, it's made loads of them broody!
