That's exciting @Sam91TRS15 - hopefully it will all kick off properly soon. Be prepared bough. Have had two friends recently in a similar situation in terms of getting to 3/4cm without really noticing.

They both had very quick labours so don't hang about once it gets going.

You might have the baby on my due date! (Tomorrow)

Sam91TRS15 · 03/04/2018 18:05

Well.. Still no baby here :( how's everyone else doing?

pinkflamingo121318 · 03/04/2018 18:28

Oh no @Sam91TRS15
Hope baby doesn't take too much longer!!

I went for a walk to the shop today and it wasn't even uncomfortable.. I hoped it would help kickstart but nooope! No pains at all.
The lady in the shop reckons it'll happen in the next couple of days because my face is "puffy" 🙈

Sam91TRS15 · 03/04/2018 18:31

Walking does absolutely nothing for the contractions. I get some in the bath but that's it really! I go in for induction sometime tomorrow, but who knows how long that'll take!
Oh what a lovely thing to say to a heavily pregnant lady!
The number of times today I've had to say 6 days overdue to the question 'when you due' just made me give up on walking about the shops to try induce labour! So just trying to relax now and see what happens tomorrow!

harrietm87 · 04/04/2018 08:41

How's everyone doing? Any more babies on the thread yet?

I'm 39+3 today, getting a littttttle impatient and still no signs whatsoever!

Sam91TRS15 · 04/04/2018 11:27

Nothing here. Was supposed to go in for induction at 3 today, but because I was "favourable" they cancelled that and told me to phone at 9.30am this morning but the ward is busy. So now I have no appointment to be induced and told to phone back at 3 and basically wait and see.
I am furious and have spent almost all day crying. It is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure all I need is for my waters to be broken and I'd be off. I'm on day 3 of not having my daughter with me and I'm just feeling so down about it all.

LivLemler · 04/04/2018 11:36

Due date today. No sign of anything. Its raining here so about to head to ikea to get a bit of a walk!

FairfaxAikman · 04/04/2018 12:53

Fuck!
Come to YoSushi as a 38 week treat with my best mate.
Can't get onto the high stools or wedge myself in at the tables.
The one table with low stools is occupied by people taking an aaaaaagggggggeeeerr to eat. I'm getting pregnant-hangry. Angry(yes I know it's irrational and unfair)

rosegarden45 · 04/04/2018 13:10

Feeling really sorry for myself today. Second week of mat leave. Hating being off work because I'm so so bored. Husband had last week off but has gone back to work today so I'm really feeling it. Need to pull myself together and do something. Husband has taken my car to work so I'm feeling trapped in the house and it's pouring with rain. I do need to walk the dog but don't have a waterproof that fits over the bump so it'll be grim walking in the rain. Daytime tv is dull and I can't seem to concentrate on getting anything done.

Sorry for such a whinging post. Getting it off my chest!

pinkflamingo121318 · 04/04/2018 15:21

Oh no @Sam91TRS15
That's hideous!! I would've cried too!

I woke up thinking "today's the day" but I'm still 3 days away from due date.
I planned to clean out our tin/dry food cupboard because it was just horrendous.. instead I did that, and the plate/bowl cupboard.. swapped them over as I realised the plates would be better in the slightly bigger one. I washed every single plate and bowl before putting it away in the spotless cupboard.
I only have 3 drawers in my kitchen but have emptied them all out to clean!
DH won't recognise the cupboards haha! Luckily it's black bin day on Friday and all bins go outside our house.. DH can fill them up when he gets home from work!

I'm happy with how much I've accomplished today, just hope we can keep it like that!

olicat · 04/04/2018 19:24

Sounds like extreme nesting @Pink! 😊

Sorry to those having a bad day. Late pregnancy is definitely an endurance test. I had a midwife appointment today and baby is head down but nowhere near engaged which is annoying! Have to trust he knows what he's doing, and I do have 2.5 weeks to go.

rosegarden45 · 05/04/2018 02:37

10 days til due date and I've definately just lost my mucous plug. I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen quickly but it's exciting to know that we're on our way 😊 hopefully everything else will progress naturally and we can meet our baby soon. Fingers crossed!

Aspenn17 · 05/04/2018 10:40

That’s exciting @rosegarden45!

I’m starting to get a bit bored on mat leave! Still very pleased to not be at work but no one to hang out with, house is clean, everything is ready for baby, not sure what to do with myself! 7 days to go until induction chat with the consultant so I’m feeling the pressure a bit. Still feeling really good in the daytime but nightime is tough (good practice I guess!) waking up with period pains and achey hips and my hands are so sore and swollen from water retention! The sun is out here though so might go and read in the park for a bit, get some vitamin D!

rosegarden45 · 05/04/2018 11:23

@aspenn17 I've been feeling the same. Mat leave is very dull and the sleepless nights with cramping, pain in hands and feet, acid burn etc are doing my head in!

Yesterday was my worst day so far, I was so bored and couldn't find anything I could do to make me feel better. I ended up sitting crying in the house on my own.

The sun is out here today so I'm going out with my friend for a nice long dog walk after lunch. Really looking forward to it.

My husband appears to have told all the neighbours about my mucus plug. I'm not happy. It's such a personal thing but he got over excited and now it feels like the whole world knows what's going on with my vagina! I feel like I should stop telling him if I get any symptoms because other people will know I've given birth before I find out myself! I'm surprised he hasn't put pictures on Instagram!

harrietm87 · 05/04/2018 12:02

Ah @rosegarden45 that is exciting! Bit annoying that everyone knows - I'm sure they didn't especially want to!

39+4 here and plug very much still in place. Still have the awful insomnia and also getting fed up of mat leave - have only been off 10 days!

@olicat my baby isn't engaged either - apparently with some it just doesn't happen till labour. I'm so hoping it doesn't delay things!

TrigsToo · 05/04/2018 17:19

I've just come home from my 37 week check and my blood pressure has increased to the point where my midwife was a little concerned. I don't feel stressed, but I have noticed signs of stress - insomnia, tummy aches, grumpiness etc.

I'm due to finish work next Wednesday, so 4 more working days. Everyone (midwife, OH, my line manager who told me I should go off sick!) have said I should probably finish work. I do have enough annual leave to finish now, but I was planning on carrying it over to next year so I could tag it on to the end of my mat leave and spend it with baby.

Anyone think that four days (really the because If have to go in tomorrow anyway to book the time off) is going to make a massive difference? I just can't imagine it would...

rosegarden45 · 05/04/2018 18:02

@trigs I really wanted to tag all of my annual leave onto the end of my mat leave but HR worked it out and said I had to take the first 2 weeks of April as annual leave because I'm due 15th April. It made me really cross and I wanted to dispute it and since being off I've been really bored knowing I finished work 3 weeks before my due date but in the end I've just gone with it because it was more hassle to try to change it. I think in the grand scheme of things a few extra days next year won't make much difference. You might find you want to go back to work early anyway. If you are stressed it will only make you feel worse going into work and this is the time you need to relax. Everyone has said to me to enjoy the time off prior to baby being born and enjoy that alone time because once baby is here you are never alone again. So I'd say take the time off and look after yourself. Hopefully your blood pressure will settle and you'll feel a bit better.

harrietm87 · 05/04/2018 20:14

@TrigsToo so how many weeks will you be when you stop and is this your first baby?

I finished at 37+6 and am now 39+4 (first baby) and have to say I actually wish I'd worked a few more days as I'm getting quite bored now and impatient to meet the baby - can't believe it might be another 2 weeks!

I think it all depends on how you're feeling but it doesn't sound to me like 4 days would make much of a difference to stress levels so if you planned it this way and want to stick to your plan then do it. But it's not much of a difference either way!

TrigsToo · 05/04/2018 20:38

I've booked annual leave from the day I hit 38 weeks and then my mat leave starts on the day I hit 40 weeks. It's my first and I fully anticipate going overdue (mostly just because its my first).

It's weird, I don't feel stressed, like if someone were to ask I'd say I was perfectly fine and while work is becoming a slight struggle, it's absolutely do-able. It just seems like my body is trying to tell me the opposite.

pinkflamingo121318 · 05/04/2018 20:42

I wonder how @Sam91TRS15 is getting on?!

Nothing else here.. due on Saturday.

I've been "nesting" again today, but I was sick this morning.

I'm getting a bit fed up of people messaging me asking if I've had any signs or if he's here yet!

Aspenn17 · 05/04/2018 20:47

If your midwife and boss are telling you to finish, I’d be tempted to listen to them, but then again you know your body best. Do you have the option to work from home at all? I finished at 37 weeks but for me it was the commute that was making work a struggle, not the actual work so I guess that’s also something to consider?

olicat · 05/04/2018 21:53

I went off at 35+4 and not regretting it at all - but like Aspen it was the commute that was a real killer, along with low iron levels making me exhausted. Although since switching to liquid iron my levels are back up again, I still feel I went off at the right time.

@Trigs you have to do what feels right for you but the raised bp might be your body's way of telling you to rest. Although 4 days is not very long to keep going! I completely take my hat off to all of you working longer than I did!

olicat · 05/04/2018 21:54

Oh also I went to visit a friend's 3 week old newborn today and she is tiny and gorgeous - seems unreal to think I'll have my own soon!

Sam91TRS15 · 06/04/2018 07:22

We have our little boy, Jake! He was born at 2.58pm yesterday! Induction went fine however he had his cord round his neck and he completely skipped the 7-10cm stage so the pushing part was a lot more stressed and sore than remember than last time! But it was over (relatively) quick and he is happy and healthy! Hoping to get home today!

How is everyone?

TrigsToo · 06/04/2018 07:50

@Sam, congratulations. So pleased to hear everything went OK Grin
