Pesha, Becky got a splinter in her foot yesterday, and my God, you would have thought from the fuss she made that she had broken something! Every time I went near her to hold her hand and help her up so that I could get the thing out wth tweazers, she screamed at me to keep away! God knows what the neighbours thought I was doing to her!

Right, may have to have a nap as I am feeling absolutely exhausted.

See you later loves. xx

Pesha · 16/04/2007 13:14

Maveta just saw your AIBU thread, had forgotten about your hypoglycemic attacks so can see his point of view but I totally sympathise with you wanting to do things yourself. I HATE having to rely on other people and not being able to do things I normally would, Its so frustrating.

I get very everytime i read about CD and others going down slides etc cos thats how Id normally be but with spd this time I just cant. People keep making 'funny' comments about going on a trampoline or at the party on sat how i should join them on soft play, go for long walks and im just laughing along but actually I would really like to (well maybe not the trampoline!) but I physically cant and its really getting to me now. I know they dont mean to and lots of people dont realise but Im getting quite upset by it all at the moment, feel so useless.

Sorry ive gone off on one again , just having one of those stressy grumpy days.

Pesha · 16/04/2007 13:18

Sorry just read that back and worried it may sound abit like a moan against CD. Its not meant to be at all, i do like hearing about your crazy escapades i just get a little and frustrated too but I would be anyway so dont stop telling us will you!

mammyjo · 16/04/2007 13:39

Hi all. Yet another quick mad dash post. Hope all are well.

Congrats to MIAMT!! So pleased everything has gone well, welcome to Robyn.

I am feeling proud of myself today as I have managed the school run with ds and Ffion for the first time. Had actually got myself quite stressed over it thinking I would never get him to school on time, but I made it. Now I have done it once I know I can do it again! Silly really what stresses you out!

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 13:49

I've just read the AIBU thread. I can understand why your DH is worried maveta, but in general, do people stop driving when pregnant? It's just something that's never occurred to me, and I'm wondering how common it is? If so, when do you stop, as in theory the baby could arrive between 37 and 42 weeks? I can't believe that everyone stops at 37 weeks!

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 13:50

Sorry, that post's not intended to have a go or make anyone feel bad, it just genuinely hasn't occurred to me that I should stop. The only issues I'd have with driving would be the distance I was taking myslef away from the hospital iyswim, rather than the driving itself.

Pesha · 16/04/2007 13:51

Mammyjo - Well Done doesnt sound silly at all. Im quite worried myself how im going to manage, specially as ds had got used to going in pushchair and is now prob going to have to walk unless I take baby in sling. But have no idea how early im gonna have to get up to feed baby and get them all ready, think dd may just have to have a while of being late to school until i can get the routine abit sorted. And from what I remember babies have a habit of doing huge explosive poos just as you are about to step out the door!!

Pesha · 16/04/2007 13:59

Katy ive still been driving short distances but yesterday for instance dp wanted me to drive to my dads and meet us there but its a 30/40 min drive, all either fast roads or little country lanes in the middle of nowhere, ive never driven the route myself before so wasnt really sure where id be going so decided that was probably abit much for me at 40 weeks. Also was supposed to have childminding exam last tues in taunton at 7.15pm, again prob bout 40 mins drive with no real idea where i was going on my own at night so decided not to do that either! But little fairly local journeys I know well im more than happy to carry on with and didnt like the comment suggesting that at this stage of pg we shouldnt be driving at all incase we went into labour. If i was in labour i wouldnt drive but not gonna stop just in case.

geordiemacminx · 16/04/2007 14:02

Katy/Maveta... I certainly have no intention of stopping driving, never even occured to me to be honest - although if I was having BH's or practice contractions then I wouldnt drive while I was having them obviously!!

Being able to get out and about in the car is the only thing that has kept me sane (ish) for the past few weeks.... I even managed to squeeze myself into dp's superfast sports car a few sundays ago - he was still in bed, I was bored and the sunshine was out so I took it out and belted it along the motorway - it was great.... baby was bouncing about as it makes such a noise!!!

Oh that reminds me - guess who got done for speeding on saturday... on the way down to the coast, 40 in a 30.. had no idea it was a 30, still it was my own fault... was hoping that kind policeman might have taken pity on me seeing how pregnant I was.. alas no.. 3 points and £60!!!

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 14:05

Yes, that's what I thought, if I thought labour had started then obviously I wouldn't drive, and I'm not going to drive anywhere unknown (or probably at night on my own) but I'm not going to stop as long as I feel fine. I live in a tiny village with a terrible bus service, I wouldn't be able to go anywhere!!
Gmm - naughty!

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 14:19

I'd be a lot more confident of my ability to drive if I could eat soup without spilling it down my top!
Right, off to iron with Sex and the City and a glass of wine (well sparkling grape juice, but I'll have it in a wine glass, makes me feel like a grown up!)

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/04/2007 14:40

Hiya loves. Tried to have a bloody nap, and the phone rang. I ignored it as I knew I wouldn't be able to haul myself up quick enough. Then 20 mins later it rang again, so thought had better deal with it! Now feel worse than I did before - hey ho!

Re driving, I have to say I am not doing long journeys' any more (ie more than 30 mins) as I just find sitting for that length of time either in the car on the sofa gets uncomfortable. Baby also seems to really kick off when I am driving which is really sore.

But, I guess it is each to their own, and whatever one feels comfortable with.

Talking of driving, it was dh on the phone - his car is playing up, so he is going to the garage and wants me to meet him there so I can drive him home! Bloody taxi service!!

See you later.

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 14:42

Oh no SOSPL, hope he gets it sorted out

Pesha · 16/04/2007 14:56

Well I still feel like Im at the start of things, although nothings really got going yet so have been busy doing little bits of tidying and writing down school details for dc, have even done dds packed lunch (except for sandwich) so all is ready now! Gonna be so pissed off if nothing happens now!

DD has drawn me a picture to take into hospital of me lying on the bed with baby next to me, the baby is red cos 'babies are slimy when they come out'! And on the back she's written 'To mummy hope you have a good time love Maia' So ds has drawn a picture of the man listening to mummys tummy in the hospital (cos thats what happened when he came to antenatal appointment last week) or 2 heads on sticks it looks like to me Bless them they can be so cute and they've been so good today, no arguing, shouting, waking daddy, pouring things on the floor or any other naughtiness. Think they must sense today is NOT a good day to mess mummy about!

And turns out being due 'today' is a great way to get rid of british gas men

Bramshott · 16/04/2007 15:33

Hi there - just a flying visit to say "hellooooo" - hope you're all okay and not too sore and exhausted! I'm struggling with how little I actually manage to achieve in one day at the mo - so far today have come on here briefly, unloaded the dishwasher, and washed one blanket - how the bloody hell can it be 3.30 then?!?

mammyjo · 16/04/2007 15:39

Know exactly what you mean Bramshott! Time just flys by and nothing seems to get done in my house!

Pesha, you will be fine with the school run. If I can do it then so can you! For me it was worse in my head, the reality wasnt too bad. Busy, but not too bad!

finbarr · 16/04/2007 15:54

so finally, i get around to posting instead of lurking, and frantically speed-reading in a vain attempt to keep up.
it's me Heidle
I've not posted since oo, before christmas I think, but I have been thinking of you all!
well done to all of you for keeping the threads (s) going, and at such a rapid rate too!!! I just gave up, work was sooooo busy over christmas that I just couldn't keep up.
But now I'm home, and enjoying some rest before the madnes that will be 3 kids begins.

Congratulations too all the new mums (and dads and brothers and sisters, but especially the mums) sounds like you've all done so very well, and had (touch wood)mostly straighforward labours - if amazingly fast in some cases!
I'm hoping to be quicker this time - ds1 was 12 hours, and ds2 was 36 (hurrumph)
my due date (gosh, which is still on the stats thread ) by scan is 17th (tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I have to say, as the other 2 were 10 days late, I have been telling everyone, and working on the 27th.

I'll stop now before I bore you all into afternoon naps, but just to say hi again, I have been trying to follow the ups and downs along with you all, and as my pregnancy has been so very boring - absolutely no redeeming features - I've had nowt to post! hopefully the birth will be as dull and predicatable, but hey, you never can tell eh?

heidle / finbarr

Lusciousladylush · 16/04/2007 15:58

You are all so lucky to stillbe driving and heavily pregnant. I can't actually fit behind the whell and reach the pedals and this has been fro the last 4 weeks! It was the same with DS1 towards the end, which is a nightmare as I'm so BORED being house bound with a hectic toddler!

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 16:00

Hi Heidle!

finbarr · 16/04/2007 16:02

..........you'll never get rid of me now...
re driving thing, we had my cousins wedding at the weekend, and drove from near newcastle to bristol. it took almost 5 hours, but dh has a severe aversion to the passenger seat (like most men I think) and just can't let me drive (unless it's a night out!) I love a good road trip though, and it's just resting really, i enjoyed it! apart from having to take babyseat, and hospital bag just in case..........

maveta · 16/04/2007 16:16

Hi Heidle/ Finbarr! Welcome back!

SOSPL - sorry your nap got disturbed, hope you have a nice relaxing evening to make up for it.

Yes, I´m not sure I agree with the idea that women shouldn´t drive in late pregnancy per se.. I know dh worries about me going all funny again so I have been good in general about not driving but if you´ve not had any reason to think you´d not manage it, I´m not sure why you wouldn´t. Iykwim. It´s been hard though, there are trains but they aren´t too frequent and are so slow that I´d be knackered out just with the return journey, let alone any walking around once I got there. So I am pretty housebound at the moment but it won´t be for much longer....

Hi Bramshott!! Hi Mammyjo!! [[waves]]

Hope you´re feeling more cheery Pesha.. those practice contractions that come to nothing really get me down too.

Hi CD and Katy and GMM (aka girl racer! )!!

Hope I´ve not missed anyone....HI everyone else, just in case!!

Had a lovely afternoon with dh, bought a new rug for the sitting room from Ikea and some new jimjams for me for the hospital. Tried to take a baby monitor back to Toysrus that was a gift (i.e. no receipt) but they would´t let us.. nevermind...can always sell it on ebay..

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/04/2007 16:17

Heidle, how lovely to see you!

Pesha, my dd's drawings are circles on sticks; so lovely! She does do faces as well, and strangely shoes with buckles on them!
Really hoping things are kicking off for you now hun.

Katy, dh's car needs a new bloody clutch which is going to cost 600-800 pounds!!! He only had a new engine and clutch fitted last January, but as it is over a year ago, has no come-back. Just what we need - NOT! He ho, at least it didn't pack up competely whilst we were in it and God forbid cause us to have an accident.

Just hoovered and am now knackered again. So frustrating having bugger all energy!

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 16:33

That doesn't sound right, surely if it was just over a year ago it shouldn't need replacing??
Did you see a car mechanic or a midwife?! (sorry, trying to resurrect an old joke)

Emmymummy · 16/04/2007 16:34

Afternoon. Well for all my good intentions have managed to do absolutely bugger all so far today. Bramshott, you sound like you've done more than I have even, and you've got your little ones today! (got your email BTW - will reply re meeting....). Mammyjo, good to hear you managed the school run - also something I've been worrying about. You'll have to let me know what sort of routine you establish with respect to feeds and getting the other LOs to school in the morning.

SOSPL - nightmare about the car. Why do things always go wrong at key times? The exhaust fell off my car the day before we got married, so had to go sobbing to the garage to get the sympathy vote to get it fixed as I needed it the next day. And this morning our shower has decided it only wants to spurt out cold water. The bath gives both hot & cold (which is a relief), but tis very odd as both the shower & bath have the same mixer tap and are powered from the same pump (and the whole bathroom, pump, shower etc are only 1.5yrs old). Bugger. I hate baths for washing in at the best of times (they are strictly for lounging around in IMHO), but when it's hard to lever yourself in & out they're a PITA.

Maveta - I had to bite my tongue re. pregnant women driving on that other thread. Of course you can still drive at 39, 40, 41 weeks pregnant (if you can get behind the wheel ). I have no choice, I have to drive, otherwise how would I get Em too/from school? Obviously if I go into labour I'm not going to hop in the car and pop down to Tescos, but I think I can gauge if it's safe for me to drive or not! Sorry if that sounded a bit ranty!

Any news from Octo yet?

Katy44 · 16/04/2007 16:41

Don't think octo has been back on - do we assume this is IT?
Funny that things seem to be going wrong for people at the moment (mechanical / electrical / pipework etc). My parents told me when mum went into labour with me one of their pipes was leaking and had made a huge mess in the kitchen. Mum was in for 10 days after having me so dad used to go to work, go to visit us and then home to pull floorboards up Ellie's water wnet off on the day she went into labour, and now all this.
Am now wondering if this sort of thing is the only 'true' sign of labour! If so, I want an easy one please - we've already had the hassle of the leaky shower!
