Just posted on your old thread and cross posted with the new thread post.....here we go again.......

Just popping over from the June thread to say congratulations to all the ne mums and hope the wait isn't too lng for the rest of you.

Quick question for Eddas (or anyone else really...I appreciate that some of you have your hands full at the mo ) re raspberry leaf tea.....when can I start taking it..is it a slow build thing or is it's effect pretty immediate, like should I start drinking it from 32 weeks say or wait until nearer my due date???

Congrats again and can't believe it'll be us soon enough

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 21:29

hi daisy, just answered you on other one

you can't start taking it til 36 weeks and the more you take, the more effect it's supposed to have. won't bring labour on early (as Eddas is proof of!) but supposed to make it quicker when it does happen

Hi all

Big congratulations to all the new arrivals

Everything going well in the runnyhabbit house. Its suprising how little sleep you can survive on I'm so, so happy because the breastfeeding is going really well, esp after everything I went through with Joshua.

Joshua absolutely adores his little brother. Me and dh we a little worried how he would be with dh cuddling William, only because Joshua is such a daddys boy. But so far, William gets more kisses than me and dh put together!

I'm sorry I haven't had chance to catch up with everyones news, but I really hope you're all doing well, and being looked after. I have been thinking of you all x

Lots of love x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/04/2007 21:40

Hi Ellie, hope you have a lovely relaxing bath and the bf of Joe gets easier.

Runny, lovely to see you too and to hear that everything is going so well.

Hello to everyone else.

Nothing to report here - still 2 weeks to go for me - boo hiss!
See you later. x

Eddas · 14/04/2007 21:53

Daisybump, i thought that it brought on labour too up until i was about 36 weeks this time. With dd i went 10 days overdue and thought, hmm don't think the raspberry leaf thing works. But as the good people of mn have enlightened me (and ellie has said) it just makes it quicker. When i look at my 2 births i dilated very quickly this time from 3cm to 10cm(fully dilated) in about3 hours. so i'd definately take them. There's no side effects so worth a try even if it doesn't help in the end!

Katy, mine are 425mg and i took them twice a day, when i remembered, hth

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 22:00

hey Eddas

how's your lovely little boy?

mine's too bloody heavy!

hi folks - and congrats to hot lips!!

ellie - good to thear you are so spritely and up / at them. did you go shopping earlier?? cant wait to hear your birth story please...

RLT - i am taking the tablets - 627mg - 2 tablets 3 times a day. i am also on teh tea - i make it a big jug (6 tea bags worth) in the morning - freeze some into ice cubes to crunch on, drink some cold with ice or spring water and then heat some as tea.

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 22:21

i'll go write it now then

Hey girls.. the dosing on the Rasp. Leaf seems a little all over the shop.. Weeonion are you taking 2 tablets of 600mg each 3 times a day?? I have 900mg tablets, take 1 twice a day so total 1800mg a day but seems Eddas was only taking half of that? I´m confuuuuused.

Also, re. 3rd stage Ellie, or anyone else, I was just looking over my birth plan the other day and realised that I don´t really know anything about how I would like the 3rd stage to go/ pros and cons of different approaches.. anyone got any links they could point me to for more info .. or even a quick summary of different points??

Looking forward to your birth story Ellie.. and thanks for sharing yours Eddas, kisses to both of you xxx

Good evening all

Had lovely dinner and watched the Devil Wears Prada - quite good - even dh thought it was okay!

Love the birth stories - am wondering whether my own will be super speed after all the practise contractions - not that they have done anything!!! and big back to back babies don;t normally fly out!

Havne't gone down the rlt route yet - am planning to eat the whole bottle about 10.45am on thursday after the school thing but before consultant appointment!! also have only used my perenium oil three times - may splash it on this week like aftershave (not that have shaved anywhere LOL)

The phone calls started today ... - am due tomorrow - have friends coming round for the afternoon so have excuse not to answer phone!! and my last antenatal relaxation class tomorrow night!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/04/2007 22:39

My God WO, you will be dilated in no time then!

Off to bed - with sodding acid indigestion. Ate a load of sodding Pringles earlier and paying the price.

Have a good night all, and see you lovelies in the morning. xx

octo · 14/04/2007 22:40

I have no plan either for third stage - just let them do whatever last time - think it depends alot on what kind of birth you have.

maveta · 14/04/2007 22:47

I just found Ellie´s thread from last week asking about 3rd stage so going to give it a read through and learn something! It´s all a bit academic anyway because they don´t really recognise birth plans here and I am trying not to put too much store by it in case all my wishes get completely ignored but it´s always good to know...

LOL Octo at eating the bottle of tablets.. let us know if it works I never bothered with perineal massage at all.. sounded like a great idea until I read the nitty gritty of what it involved.. very scary

Sleep well SOSPL!

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 22:50

my birth story is on here

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 22:53

to be honest Maveta, my only reason for avoiding the injection was that it made me so sick last time, i don't remember the pain after birth, just the throwing up!

OP posts:
octo · 14/04/2007 22:59

Maveta - don't do the whole 'spreading' thing LOL - just put some on outside (sorry tmi) Was blimin expensive so have to use it all - would be like drinking half a bottle of champers and pouring the rest away!

We are thinking about changing Ernie's name ... - but have no alternatives - Joe was one of the original ones and dh likes the name Ulysses [no way emoticon] - but maybe as middle name [still not sure emoticon]

Baby wide awake tonight and wriggling round loads

weeonion · 14/04/2007 23:02

maveta - i have included the no injection in my birth plan. my mw was ok about it but did say that as my platelets were low at the last appt - i might not be allowed this. the antenatal class tuto made a bit of an eejit of me when i said this was what i wanted - saying "our friend there thinks she will deliver naturally - well, she'd better hope that she can get the baby to feed within a few minutes or she may regret that." nice, encourgaing and positive.
clarice is is spain as well?? she seems to have been able to get more of the kind of birth she hoped for so maybe if you really do not want the jab - it is an option??

weeonion · 14/04/2007 23:04

maveta - as you know - we have been doign the perineal massage. not fun nor pleasant but to be honest - the results can be felt by both of us. dp makes sure i know how much i should appreciate him for it!!!!

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:06

WO, my one big tip for the 3rd stage without injection would be to get upright, i think it would have been even quicker, i started out lying down cos she'd needed to check blood loss after birth, but then when i did eventally get up on knees again placenta came out within minutes.

OP posts:
weeonion · 14/04/2007 23:09

ellie - i have read that being upright helps so yep - will try to be.....

octo · 14/04/2007 23:10

at the tutors comment WO - thats really quite offensive - think I would have cried or walked out!

Off to bed - night all xxxx

maveta · 14/04/2007 23:11

That thread was really interesting Ellie so thanks for asking the question! going to read your birth story in a sec...

Octo - why the late-stage name change? Ernie is cute.. Ulysses is... individual

WO - what a witch! Where do people get off putting others down like that?! Very on your behalf.. why do people have to be so bloody negative? It´s like people here telling me I´ll never manage without an epidural and I think, yeah maybe I won´t but is it such a bad thing to try if I want to?

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:11

night octo x

Night Octo!! NO labour vibes for you tonight! x

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:14

it's not easy to get up WO, took a while to work out how to get me from upright birthing, to lying down, to upright aagain, all with Joe still attached by the cord!

in the end we cut the cord so that i could get up to deliver placenta, made it much easier but waited for cord to stop pulsating first
