I’m the eldest of four and spotted my mum’s bump before 12 weeks with the youngest! (I was 6yo)

Aggy106 · 15/11/2017 07:41

Wow loads has happened! Welcome new people and hurray on all the scans, has everyone had their 12 week scan now?

I don't have an obvious bump yet but definately a firmness and I think like symphony said I can't suck it in so hoping to have the start of a bump in a week or two.

Aggy106 · 15/11/2017 07:54

Does anyone know if it's safe to eat baked Camembert? It's was a favourite treat but I haven't eaten any since we found out I was pregnant. I was thinking about it for Christmas.

Needmorehands · 15/11/2017 08:06

No actual bump here, just getting bigger because I'm eating way more than I need to!
Symphony - you make me nervous as we haven't told our DC yet!

cautiousoptimist1 · 15/11/2017 08:32

Elvi, the nausea is completely getting me down too, I am not low or depressed just fed up and want to get into this second trimester "glow"!

Aggy soft cheese is fine if thoroughly cooked so enjoy! I may even indulge in a warm goats cheese salad now you've said that.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 15/11/2017 08:52

Hopefully I’ve added everyone to Facebook who has asked - been a bit innundated with requests though so if I’ve missed anyone I’m sorry and let me know!!

Aggy yes baked Camembert is fine (all cheese is ok as long as it’s cooked) I love a baked Camembert. I had a Brie and bacon panini the other day too - just made sure it was well toasted. Yum.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 15/11/2017 09:19

Don’t worry needmorehands - yours probably aren’t as nosy as I was!

In my head 70C is the magic temperature for killing any listeria

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 15/11/2017 10:23

Observant people (other mums, my sister) reckon I've got a bump, but it could easily just be podge atm. I'm still in some of my pre-baby clothes, but not for much longer, I reckon

Blueberry1 · 15/11/2017 13:39

@Aggy106 - cooked soft cheeses are fine. So yes to goat's cheese quiche, but no to (cold) goat's cheese salad.

@PopadomPointer - Somewhere between 12-13 weeks, a little very obvious bump appeared. Now at nearly 16 weeks, you couldn't mistake it for anything else (this may be as am usually quite slim).

@tiramisualwaystiramisu - No-one noticed I was pregnant before I told them, but one colleague said "I noticed you started wearing looser clothes and wondered if that was why" and another said "I did think you'd put on a little bit of weight".

Had 2nd midwife appointment yesterday and everything was fine and I got to listen to baby's heartbeat. Asked midwife if I'd gained too much weight (3kg in 15 weeks) and she said no. I did check my BMI and even with weight gain, it's still only 23, so I was clearly being silly Blush.

Whatamuddleduck · 15/11/2017 16:40

16w midwife appointment today. Lovely to hear heart beat. Bit deflated as have loads of annoying symptoms/health things (migraine, really uncomfortable nether regions intermitantly, pain left hip, blocking ear) that I wanted to check whether there is anything I can do about but midwife wasn't interested. Maybe should be reassured but spending a lot of time uncomfortable and would have liked to talk things through. Ho hum, guess I was at the end of a long day.

whatamuddle I am sorry to hear that and hope it all gets better soon! Could you perhaps speak to your GP or a different MW?

Chefsfloozie I completely agree about bets ;) someone's bound to be early and someone else late ....time will tell i guess :)

Cautious and Elvi I am so fed up with feeling sick and crap too!! I thought it was improving as it wasnt all day, but now it gets really bad if I dont eat soon enough :( ...I guess it could be worse though.... but would love to know when that glowing period is ;)

Needmorehands · 15/11/2017 21:36

@whatamuddle, if your hip is giving your grief this early I cannot recommend finding a local chiropractor enough. I would have left DH for my chiropractor in a heartbeat during my last pregnancy (4th in 6yrs so I was getting pretty beaten up by hormones!) He kept me able to do the daily school run :)

Piewraith · 16/11/2017 03:00

For everyone still sick, so am I. So much for the fabled week 14 :(

Saw my obstetrician yesterday (I'm not in UK so a slightly different system) and she said she is open to discussing c section for maternal request. I'm so pleased as I want to keep options open at this stage.

Gyoza · 16/11/2017 14:38

Anyone else planning a babymoon? We’re pretty keen to try and get in a trip to NYC in February when I’ll be about 26 weeks.

BunnyFluffy · 16/11/2017 14:56

Gyoza yes thinking of a babymoon (I hate that word) but not sure where. Possibly in March when I’ll be 30 weeks. I definitely won’t be doing NYC though - I’ve not been feeling well at all during this pregnancy and can’t think of anywhere worse than NYC!! If you’re feeling fit, go for it!

Gyoza · 16/11/2017 15:33

Been feeling ok so far but thinking that we’ve already seen most of the sights before so happy to just eat for the whole holiday if I’m not up for walking too much!

willisurvive3under2 · 16/11/2017 19:34

Sadly no babymoon for us this time. I’m flying at Christmas when I’ll be 22 weeks, with twins that’s the latest I feel comfortable. Realistically they could be very early (hopefully not) and I will be massive.

Last time we went to the Canaries in April at 24 weeks and it was the perfect time - although I remember thinking on the flight back that I was glad we didn’t go later as I struggled to get comfy on the flight, even though it’s only 4 hours.

Girlwiththearabstrap · 16/11/2017 19:45

First post on this thread Smile. 15 weeks with second baby. Consultant led this time so just cautiously waiting for my 20 week scan and then will probably end up with a whole host of extra appointments.

I really hoped to grab some sun over new years but flights are so pricey. My husband's grandparents live abroad so we're hoping to go over to see them mid Feb.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 16/11/2017 19:59

I’d quite like to go somewhere on the south coast over Easter but that might be cutting it a bit fine!

scoutcat · 16/11/2017 20:37

Yes @Gyoza! Were going to Dublin on Boxing Day and I’m so excited!

Also booked Santorini in September for a wedding. Nervous to take a newborn away! Especially one that hasn’t even been born yet, so planning is quite hard!

willisurvive3under2 · 16/11/2017 22:03

@scoutcat We took our DS abroad to meet my family at 5 weeks old, it was the easiest trip we’ve ever done with him! He spent the whole flight/holiday snoozing in the sling and in the carrycot, and because we had family help it was easier than at home. I was BF so no faff with bottles etc. I was still a little bit frazzled and found the heat a bit much but overall it was amazing unlike our most recent holidays when we’ve had to chase him non stop on the flight, in the airport, on the beach...

Motherofpuppies · 17/11/2017 08:13

Ooh yes we're hoping to have a babymoon but thinking of doing it quite late and staying nearby in a lovely hotel. My friends had an amazing looking weekend before their bubba arrived at Soho Farmhouse and I've always wanted to go there! Bit pricey though Confused

Has anyone felt flutters yet? Was seeing only that most ladies start feeling something around 14-18 weeks. Perhaps some of the mummies on their second baby? I'm in the cinema most evenings for work at the moment and when I've start feeling tiny twitchy movements, a bit like when you get a twitchy eye, but down near my pubic bone. Could be baby, or could just be all the muscles going crazy!

Motherofpuppies · 17/11/2017 08:15

Wow typos everywhere! Shock Sorry guys -

Was seeing online

When I sit still I start feeling twitches...

MrsMattMurdock · 17/11/2017 09:30

Hello one and all! Just found this thread. Had my dating scan yesterday which put me at 13 weeks. Baby was bouncing around merrily. We have a 6 year old son and I have had 2 MMC's,one in 2015 and one in 2016. So I can't quite believe it's happening, especially as I am 39. Plenty of mixed emotions but I'm due May 24 so would like to join the thread and go through it all with you lot!

readysetcake · 17/11/2017 18:20

Hello everyone. I’ve not been in this thread in weeks as been feeling so ill and basically hibernated. But had good scan today confirming I’m 13 weeks 4 days due 21st May. Was so lovely to see my baby on the screen. I’m so relieved. And so happy to not feel sick anymore! No flutters here yet. Was 19 weeks when I felt my first but had placenta at the front. Hoping to feel something sooner this time.

I’ve no chance of getting away before this one arrives sadly. Jealous of all those who are jetting off.

Congratulations MrsMatt how wonderful!
