I thought I’d start this thread now as I can’t see one yet! I got my bfp this weekend on a digital and estimate my due date to be 1st of July, but I have long cycles so I’m anticipating it changing at a dating scan. Anyone else with me for end of June or beginning of July 2018?

Congratulations @Dirty , glad your scan went well.

@Daphne33 I had my booking appointment today and I found it very thorough and helpful. To be honest I felt like my GP had left me very much at sea to this point, but the booking appointment has given me a lot of reassurance and told me what intervention to expect from the health service and when.

karategirl · 11/12/2017 13:34

Hi everyone, how are you all doing?

I'm so tired! I didn't know it was possible to be this tired! I have no idea how I'm going to keep coping with work :( I'm working from home today (avoiding potential train chaos with the tiny smattering of snow we've had!) and think I'm going to have a half hour nap in a minute. Anyone have any tips for keeping going in the office?

Last week, two ladies told me that they were in the process of miscarrying - a contact I know through work on Thursday, and a colleague on Friday. I wouldn't have expected either of them to tell me, I think they just needed someone to talk to.

Neither of them knows I'm pregnant, and they were both at a very similar stage to me. I feel dreadful for them, and it's making me really nervous as well. I'm only 7+4, and there seems like such a lot that can go wrong. I'm also worrying about, if everything does go well, how I tell them in a sympathetic way, knowing that their babies would have been due at about the same time as mine. Added to the exhaustion, I'm just feeling incredibly anxious at the moment.

@heregoeseverything @LittleBirdBlues @DirtyThirties (I wish I was slightly more creative with my username haha, I was just in a shocked state possibly),

Thank you all for your kind reassurances. And congratulations to all of you too!
With your answers, I do feel calmer.
The kind GP doctor has also just rung me to confirm the lab test and next steps - booking midwife appointment and yes, you are right, scan is only at 12 weeks.

Yes @LittleBirdBlues, it's really different approach here! When pregnant in Singapore, my friends immediately get a scan from their gynae (not only at 12wks) and get regular scans every month or every 6weeks thereafter. Their care is then managed entirely by a gynae. They are very much more coddled there I suppose!

Excited to be pregnant for the first time in a new country, and I'm also very appreciative there is the NHS service. From my interactions at the GP, everyone has been very nice and communicative with me so far. :)

A quick question abt the NHS scans, seems like there will usually just be 3 - will the first scan also show up any chromosomal disorders or foetal risks? Or do I have to do such scans privately? Or do they only wait till the 2nd scan for this?

I am intending to do a basic private scan where I am (also in London) to really confirm before I tell anyone else in the family. My sister in law just had her second baby last month back home so I'm sure she can offer some insight but I don't feel ready to tell until I see more confirmation (this is me being very cautious and anxious i guess!). Only my husband knows and bless him, he's been supportive but he's understandably quite clueless (he has only brothers) and has always been quite healthy and barely used his NHS as an adult citizen.

Thinking of you today @bobotheelephant

LittleBirdBlues · 11/12/2017 15:44

@karategirl I'm the same! I barely managed my commute this morning which is three trains in total. I took the afternoon off sick as I just couldn't cope with more time at work, I was feeling so faint and nauseous. It's mad isn't it?

MrsT4 · 11/12/2017 16:39

Hi,

I wonder if I can join. Not sure of my exact dates yet as hadn’t had a period after coming off contraception before I conceived. So I could be anything between 9-11 weeks based on conception date.
Due who knows when!? Haha But definitely July at some point. Can’t wait for my scan so I know correct dates.

How is everyone getting on?

Heregoeseverything · 11/12/2017 17:14

Hi @MrsT4!

@karategirl and LittleBirdBlues

My nausea is easing a little but my concentration has decreased proportionally and to be honest I have mentally checked out for Christmas despite huge workload! Not sure whether I can blame pregnancy for that or not...!

My midwife is lovely and said she'd do what she could to get me a pre-Christmas scan but can't guarantee it.

karategirl · 11/12/2017 17:26

Hi @MrsT4

@Heregoeseverything it'd be great if they can book you in for a pre-Christmas scan! Everything crossed for you :)

I've just been browsing Facebook and have seen that the girlfriend of someone I was at school with is expecting their second baby, and the due date is 45 weeks after baby 1 was born!! I cannot imagine how the poor girl's been coping in the first trimester with a newborn as well! Glutton for punishment or what...?

Heregoeseverything · 11/12/2017 17:33

Holy hell @karategirl, DH should be so lucky 5 weeks after I give birth!!

I gather that it is advised to put on 1-5 lbs in the first trimester, my booking appointment revealed that I've already put on 5-6 Blush . I assumed that the fuckton of carbs I consumed to stem the nausea/sate the hunger pangs wouldn't count... At least half of this weight gain appears to be on my boobs, they are absolutely ludicrously enormous and I was already very top-heavy. I feel like I look like some sort of comedy cartoon figure already and I'm only 10 weeks in...! Shock

InstructionsRequired · 11/12/2017 18:04

Thanks for the advice @lgh05 @willowrose9 @littlebluebirds as soon as I've been given the all clear at the 12 wk scan I'll be speaking to the trainers at the gym to get their advice, but not ready to talk to anyone (apart from you lot!) until then. Your messages really spurred me on though, I was fully psyched for a gym sesh as soon as I woke up yesterday. Got my gym gear on and was all set to give my wobbly butt the kick-start it needed but sadly the snow had other ideas and after attempting and failing the journey, found myself back in my PJs watching Netflix & stuffing my face within half an hour! (I feel your pain @heregoeseverything my midwife will def give me a disapproving look at my weight gain to date!) But, it was the most motivated I've felt in weeks so I know as soon as the work schedule allows, I'll be back to the slightly lighter, lower intensity routine this week. So thank you ladies!

@Canoechick Absolutely, seeing the little flicker of a heartbeat meant the world! 10 wks today and need the next 11 days to hurry for the next scan, eeek!

Welcome and congratulations @daphne33 @mrst4

Sorry @littlebirdblues baby brainBlush

LittleBirdBlues · 11/12/2017 19:20

New low today: I have just thrown up in front of both my toddlers, aged 2 and 3. Just as they were getting ready for bedtime. I'm so bloody tired of this and only just reaching 8 weeks.

Heregoeseverything · 12/12/2017 10:43

@Littlebirdblues, you poor thing, you are super-human to be carrying a baby while caring for two toddlers so I hope you are cutting yourself plenty of slack!

I have a minor dilemma on which I'd welcome thoughts. My lovely midwife has managed to fit a "12 week" scan in for me before Christmas. The problem is that I really wanted a scan just before Christmas at over 11 weeks, so I felt safer announcing, but instead I have one this Friday, when I will only be 10+3 on my own estimate (10+6 on LMP). Obviously beggars can't be choosers and I'm grateful to my midwife etc, but I actually have a private scan this week at 10+1 Blush . I was hoping for reassurance a little closer to announcement time. I'm worried that announcing on the basis of a "12 week" scan that was at 10+3 is pretty risky. I'd really like to announce at Christmas, and it will be a headache logistically if I don't re pretending to drink etc, but I really don't want to have to "untell" people immediately after Christmas. I know the risk isn't huge between 10 weeks and 12, but...

Thoughts? And not of the "Tell everyone asap because you'll need their support if you miscarry" ilk... this is not my preference!

InstructionsRequired · 12/12/2017 10:54

@littlebirdblues You are a superhero, I salute you! Don't worry about the vom, they'll soon forget!

@heregoeseverything My midwife told me the screening tests can only be done between 11.5 - 13.5 wks. Not sure the truth in it, or whether you want the tests, but could always try that to get a later appointment?

Heregoeseverything · 12/12/2017 11:24

@InstructionsRequired I've done as you suggested and she is going to do her best to put me in the following week - thanks so much for your help! I'd be lost without Mumsnet...

Heregoeseverything · 12/12/2017 11:27

In other news I had a horrible nightmare that I accidentally revealed that I was pregnant to the person close to me who is really struggling to get pregnant and she went absolutely mad, screaming at me and roaring... really dreading it and hoping it won't damage our relationship (though screaming an unlikely response)!

PenguinChristmas · 12/12/2017 12:25

Hi ladies can I join? Got my Postive 4th November but as I’d had a miscarriage early September I was wet nervous about being too excited. Due date is 16th July

Had some bleeding a few weeks ago so had a scan at EPU which showed a heart beast. Currently 9 weeks but they said I could be 10 as that scan was early enough it’s hard to get exact dates.

Have my booking in appointment this week and am starting to get more excited.

LittleBirdBlues · 12/12/2017 14:22

@heregoeseverything @instructionsrequired thank you! It's good to be reminded to cut myself some slack. I found myself apologising to Dh the other day because I've been pretty useless around the house these last few weeks and he's constantly running around doing laundry, cooking, shopping. He told me firmly to zip it because I wasn't doing "nothing" I was making a baby. So there Grin

I've had to tell work this week and got a very supportive response, which is a weight off my shoulders! And I'm only 8 weeks. I just couldn't hide it.

Hello @penguinchristmas! And congratulations. Is this your first baby?

PenguinChristmas · 12/12/2017 17:10

@LittleBirdBlues no not my first I have a little boy who’s 5 but it’s my first with my fiancé Smile

Heregoeseverything · 12/12/2017 19:22

Sounds like your DH has the right idea @LittleBirdBlues - and in my experience so far that makes all the difference!

First scan tomorrow, wasn't nervous before today but now feel a bit sick, and not from morning sickness for a change!

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 12/12/2017 19:33

Hi everyone we had a early scan yesterday thinking we had had a mc.

Baby is measuring 8 weeks 4 days yesterday with a strong hearth beat :).

I dont think its hit me that we will have 3 children next year yet.

How can i join the facebook group?

PenguinChristmas · 12/12/2017 19:47

@skye that’s great news! Congratulations Smile

LittleBirdBlues · 12/12/2017 20:33

@heregoeseverything how exciting (and terrifying). Fingers crossed for tomorrow I'm sure it'll all be well.

LittleBirdBlues · 12/12/2017 20:43

@skychasemarchal I'm in a similar position, this will be our third! How old are your first two? We have DS who is turning 4 in January and DD who is 2 and 3 months. I can't wait to break the news to them Grin
