I thought I’d start this thread now as I can’t see one yet! I got my bfp this weekend on a digital and estimate my due date to be 1st of July, but I have long cycles so I’m anticipating it changing at a dating scan. Anyone else with me for end of June or beginning of July 2018?

CherryVicky29 · 06/12/2017 15:04

@BlueeSpottyTiger yes I believe it is unicorn

Farrar · 06/12/2017 15:17

Has anyone here paid to go for an early scan or are due to go soon?

I'm due 16th July and I'm going to book a scan for Friday - which will make me 8+5.

I'm absolutely frightened to death about it but I just can't hold on until after Xmas to see what's going on in there! I've got next to no symptoms and I read about missed miscarriages this morning so it's put me right on edge!!

Also, if you have / are having an early scan, are you going to tell people about the pregnancy or still wait until 12 weeks? We've only told parents and grandparents so far and managers at work.

LucyDolly · 06/12/2017 15:20

@Farrar we are having a private scan on 23rd dec when I will be 7+1
I think I could have possibly waited but with it only being xmas once a year we wanted to surprise parents that day .

Just bit scared as it could go the other way and make me even more nervous if there isn't a heartbeat/or worse

I'm going to tell best friends/parents then .... everyone else including work after 12 weeks

BlueeSpottyTiger · 06/12/2017 15:25

Thanks cherry x
farrar I'm having one on the 22nd Dec. I'll be about 9+6. I'll then announce to my family on Christmas day if all is well.. having had a mmc I'm petrified!
Then i have my 12 week scan 12 days later on the 3rd of Jan!

I had a scan at the epu last Tuesday at about 6weeks and we saw the heartbeat so fingers crossed all is well.

Goodluck to you!! Keep positive xxx

Farrar · 06/12/2017 15:35

Thank you @BlueeSpottyTiger @LucyDolly - I think we'll tell wider family and close friends over Christmas too, if all goes well. I'll leave the big 'social media' announcement until after the 12 week scan.

Not sure when my 12 week will be, probably the week after Xmas, I have my booking in appointment next week so hopefully they'll tell me there - although I'm going to a different hospital that's out of my Midwife's areas for the birth so she may not know?

Thank you for the positive vibes - that's all we can do isn't it! Will update on Friday afternoon when we've hopefully seen 'belly dweller' (as DH as named him/her! 🙄) xx

CherryVicky29 · 06/12/2017 15:42

I had an early scan at 7+2 managed to find baby by trans abdominal scan 🙂was lovely to see and even seen heartbeat with Fetal heart rate 😊

Heregoeseverything · 06/12/2017 15:46

I'm having a scan next week at 10+1. My "12 week" scan will likely be at 14 weeks due to Christmas.

I was planning to announce at Christmas (when I will be 12 weeks) but I'm now starting to wonder if I should wait for the 12 week scan, at least before telling non-family. I hadn't realised how prevalent missed miscarriages are...

Farrar · 06/12/2017 16:21

I didn't either @heregoeseverything :(

I've just booked it for Friday at 3pm, so I'll have a bit of a reprieve from the anxiety (if all is well) and then I'm sure it will be back until I have 12 week scan - which may be like you and be later, due to Xmas.

I think I'll just be telling family and maybe 1 or 2 close friends who it's getting hard to keep it from. Wider friendship circle, work colleagues and the wider world, I'll wait for until 12 weeks scan - or whenever that may be.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 06/12/2017 17:34

heregoes do you plan on having the combined test at 12 week scan? If so the lastest they can do that is 13+6..if so maybe you might want to ask the mw to bring it forward. But if not you can always have the blood test to check as that can be done up to 16weeks my mw said today.
Last pregnancy i had my 12 week scan at 11+4 xx

DirtyThirties · 06/12/2017 17:55

Hi ladies, can I join you please? I am 8+4 so expect to be due late July. First timer.

I am literally losing my mind as I want to spend some time with a medical person who actually confirms I'm pregnant, and it's not in my head, but I won't get this confirmation for another few weeks. I just tried to book a private scan but the earliest they can see me is next Sunday. My OH is telling me to book it, but it feels so far away I don't know how much longer I can cope without some peace of mind. I had a lot of spotting at first but that seems to have stopped about two weeks ago. No sickness at all, which also makes me nervous.

I'm not sure why I'm ranting, any tips on keeping sane for the next few weeks? I haven't rtft so apologies if a lot of this has already been said!

Heregoeseverything · 06/12/2017 18:08

@BlueeSpottyTiger I didn't know that, that's really helpful, thank you. I had planned to get every test going (!) albeit I am having the Harmony test at 10+1 which is more accurate. However, I may raise this as a reason why I need my scan before Christmas (I am out of the country for the first week of January).

I'm not 100% on how far gone I am - I may actually be 12 weeks as early as 23 December (cycles vary in length). I'm just pessimistic about the prospect of getting a scan before Christmas when my booking appointment isn't until I'm 10 weeks (potentially up to 10+3!). I assume that this is rather late for a booking appointment - I'm still livid with my GP surgery for putting me in this position (ranted about this a while back, but feel generally unsupported and even positively hindered by the NHS to date in my efforts to manage pregnancy and a chronic medical condition!). Fingers crossed I get a scan before Christmas, would really appreciate the peace of mind, it would be so nice to tell people at Christmas but I really don't want to have to "untell" people.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 06/12/2017 20:44

here oh if your having the harmony then i wouldn't worry about having the combined test as the harmony will check for combined test does anyway and more. If you don't mind me asking, Why are you chosing to have the harmony?
dirty I would book the scan, It will soon come round :)

Xx

LittleBirdBlues · 06/12/2017 20:57

dirty yes book the test! At least oy will know before Christmas Smile

I'm having a private scan in two weeks time when I'll be around 9+3. I can't wait!

Catra · 06/12/2017 20:59

I'm 7 weeks today, due on 25-07-18 if all goes well

In August I had a TFMR at 15 weeks after tests came back positive for Down's Syndrome. It was the most horrendous experience of my life - not only the loss of our son but the physical aftermath, during which I required major surgery.

I was pretty stunned to get my BFP the first month we started trying again. I'm 39 and TTC had take a while the first time so we'd assumed the same again. I'm still trying to get my head around it and I'm not allowing myself to get excited yet until I get my scan results. The limbo in the meantime is agonising.

And I'm still not sure whether to say I'm expecting my first child or my second ....

LittleBirdBlues · 06/12/2017 21:00

Is anybody else really struggling with nausea and sickness, and how to manage work?

I've had to work from home all week because there was just no way I'd make it to the office. I've claimed gastroenteritis but that obviously won't work again next week.

I'm really struggling to concentrate and get work done, and it's such a busy time at work. It's going to become obvious that my output is much slower than usual.

I'm concifering telling my line manager on Monday when I'm next in he office. Anybody else thinking the same? How are you managing?

18mnthsandcounting · 06/12/2017 21:57

@littlebirdblues I’ve been suffering from the same I gave in and told my team at work in the end, I had no choice I feel that rubbish I couldn’t keep it a secret it was too obvious and actually since I’ve told them they’ve been great and totally understand why I’ve had a day off sick.

I had a private scan last weekend at 9+1 for piece of mind, I’ve had previous mmc so had really bad anxiety. All good news so far though just praying baby stays that way 😊

LittleBirdBlues · 06/12/2017 22:33

@18mnthsandcounting well done for telling your team, I do think it's te best thing to do really if there's no way to hide it and it's impacting our work.

I'm just worried how they will react. It's a busy time and we need everyone on board. Argh!

LittleBirdBlues · 06/12/2017 23:04

Amazing news about the scan @18mnthsandcounting! It just be so lovely to see that crazy pounding heartbeat. Grin

WillowRose9 · 06/12/2017 23:48

I’m going for my 3rd scan tomorrow and I’ll be 7+4 I’m so nervous and convinced something is wrong even though last week at 6+4 we heard the heartbeat...

This has been a frozen embryo transfer (and in the US) hence all the scans and I’m panicking so much as in October we had a chemical pregnancy, I was so happy then and wasn’t prepared for all the initial great results to just stall and fade.

I think I’m just tired and worked myself into a negative stew. I started a new job last week and yesterday my boss told me they’d resigned. Why does timing always work out like this! I just want to rest and sleep and not feel sick

(Negativity over)

Heregoeseverything · 06/12/2017 23:51

@BlueeSpottyTiger The same reason I assume anyone else gets it - I want to find out if my baby has any serious chromosomal abnormalities earlier and with more certainty than I otherwise would! Finding out gender a bonus, though I'll be very surprised if it's not a boy.

@LittleBirdBlues I've been able to work from home a lot without raising suspicion which is just as well as last week I vomited all over a train on Tuesday and on a plane on Friday! Avoiding public transport as much as I can, but crosses fingers I think it's starting to ease off slightly. Naturally the easing off in sickness corresponds with an increase in anxiety that something's wrong...!

DirtyThirties · 07/12/2017 07:28

bluee and littlebird, thanks I have managed to get in somewhere this Sunday now so it's a much more manageable wait! I will be 9+1 on the day so hopefully far enough to hear the heartbeat Grin. I could have waited if I'd had some one to one medical time, but I won't see anyone until my booking appointment at 11 weeks and it feels like I've known for so long. I'm getting very impatient.

Big sympathy to all those suffering with sickness. Fingers crossed that should be coming to an end soon as you leave the first trimester, but what do I know?!

Catra and WillowRose it must be really hard after what you've been through. I have no words of wisdom but try to stay positive and remember every pregnancy is different. Easier said than done I know.

Well done to all those who've told work, it must be a huge weight off. I'm dreading that part as I'm only 4-5 months into a new job Blush and have a feeling they won't take it too well

LittleBirdBlues · 07/12/2017 10:26

@heregoeseverything yes, I've worked from home all week but can't keep doing that forever! I've also managed to get out of a business trip involving flying out and back on the same day. I couldn't have manged that! Poor you vomiting on various modes of transport, it sounds horrendous. I opened it eases off soon!

For me, this sickness will last until I'm about 20 weeks so it's really dragging me down emotionally as well as physically. I'm rubbish at being pregnant! Grin

I'm off to get my flu jab. Have a good day everyone! Stay positive (unlike me) Wink

BlueeSpottyTiger · 07/12/2017 13:27

heregoes oh i see, i actually thought you was going to say age (not that i know your age) As in my dd's pregnancy the ladies who seemed to have them were 35 plus.
It will be exciting to find out the gender that early! I'll be booking a gender scan for 16 weeks :)
little my sickness has really ramped up this week since about sunday. Luckly I've had 6days hol but im due to go back in tomorrow but i don't know how I'll cope. I'm currently lay on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. It makes me feel like a rubbish mum to my DD!
I'm pretty glad I'm still in work. In my last pregnancies I've suffered with HG and was signed off from about 6weeks. With my dd i only worked about 20days spread across my pregnancy from 6 weeks up until 35 weeks when i started my mat leave.
With my last pregnancy i was signed off with it until i had the mc :( hope you feel abit better soon!

dirty yay! That's great, Goodluck :) 🍀
willow how did the scan go? I hope everything is okay!

Xx

Heregoeseverything · 07/12/2017 17:34

@BlueeSpottyTiger I am 34 so perhaps I should be thinking that way but tbh I would have got it done even if I were 30!
