I thought I’d start this thread now as I can’t see one yet! I got my bfp this weekend on a digital and estimate my due date to be 1st of July, but I have long cycles so I’m anticipating it changing at a dating scan. Anyone else with me for end of June or beginning of July 2018?

I have exactly zero symptoms at the moment. Not a sign of nausea. But if previous pregnancies are anything to go by this will all change around 6 weeks and ill be sick past 20 weeks when the heartburn and night weeing will kick in. Grin

Isn't pregnancy glamorous! BrewWine(I wish)

hannknitted · 19/11/2017 22:42

Hello ladies, can I join?

Got my BFP this morning - first month TTC so feeling incredibly lucky and also quite shocked that it's happened so quickly, doesn't quite feel real yet - plus I've had no symptoms at all so far, so I think I am struggling to believe it!

First baby for us - so it's all new to me and I'm worrying about everything, but will just have to take it at it comes!

According to Fertility Friend my due date will be 30th July 2018. :)

Catnoise · 20/11/2017 06:30

Morning everyone,

Welcome to all the new people. I hope everyone is doing well.

I think it's finally sunk in that I'm pregnant again. It was a little sooner than we intended so it's been a bit strange to get our heads round but we are both delighted. We've got a lot of changes coming over the next few months as we are moving to a new area too. I'm feeling quite nervous about working finding out I'm pregnant as I only went back from maternity leave in August! I have my Christmas party next week so it's going to be difficult to hide. I've already cancelled Christmas party no. 2 (department one) as it's a meal and is going to be quite obvious I'm not drinking!

I think my morning sickness started around week six last time so still got a week until I get to that point. I've had a bit of tummy cramping so far and also pain in my left buttock which feels familiar from last time but other than I have no symptoms.

unicornbaby I have messaged you.

Heregoeseverything · 20/11/2017 09:15

Good morning ladies!

KateB2016 · 20/11/2017 09:19

@heregoeseverything your symptoms are exactly like mine down to a tee! Grin I'm 8+1 now and nausea is getting worse :(

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 20/11/2017 10:59

TalkTalk89 · 20/11/2017 19:26

Due 20th July but absolutely terrified about miscarrying!

lgh05 · 20/11/2017 20:15

@Heregoeseverything exactly the same as me!!!! Also a bit scared nausea is going to get worse!!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 20/11/2017 20:50

Is anyone else due on the 18th?
Is there anyone from the Manchester area in this group? The majority of ladies in these groups seem to be in London. In my Dd's antenatal group there was only 4 of us who were kinda near eachother. We are all really good pals now and we chat everyday. Do we have a fb group yet? Xx

Cowboyblue · 20/11/2017 21:33

Hi can I join in please?
I am 8 weeks pregnant, due 2nd july. This will be my second baby. Still in shock that I am pregnant, I haven't quite got my head around it yet!

lgh05 · 20/11/2017 22:53

@BlueeSpottyTiger I am Warrington so not too far! Yeah there is a Facebook group set up, message @Unicornberry and she will send you an invite to the private group!

KateB2016 · 21/11/2017 09:38

@blueespottytiger I'm in Manchester :) currently sat in my office on Salford Crescent dying with this nausea :( where are you? X

hannknitted · 21/11/2017 13:53

@blueespottytiger I seem to be the lonely one in the distant NE of Scotland... I'm in Aberdeen, although we're in the process of hopefully moving to Dundee so more central Scotland.... Still miles away from all of you though! Hmm

At 4+1 all is quiet with me today... apart from a bit of cramping and perhaps needing to pee more often than usual, I feel pretty normal... just trying to keep the worrying and the impatience under control! 3 weeks today until my first midwife appointment so hoping everything goes smoothly and the time passes relatively quickly!

Has anyone been thinking about / worrying about how they're going to deal with the Christmas / New Year period with it being early days and not wanting to tell folk? We don't live near any of our family or many friends so it would normally have been easy to keep it all a secret until the right time, but it's typical that we've conceived at the one time of year when we'll have lots of visiting and staying with parents and (usually!) a lot of drinking so it's going to look very suspicious.

I was thinking that we will probably have to tell some of our family because I just won't be able to hide it. I thought about suggesting to husband that we book an early scan for just before Christmas (I'll be between 8-9 weeks) to check everything is ok because I'm so worried about telling people early and then something going wrong - had a quick nosey online and we can get one in Aberdeen for £39 which isn't too pricey. Does this seem like a reasonable thing to do?

Properly getting ahead of myself I know, I need to just take it a day at a time really, but can't help but worry about these things that are coming up and also it would be quite nice to have a scan booked to have something to look forward to. I'm seeing a lot of people on the thread having private scans so I guess it's a pretty normal thing to do - just wondering if it's OTT to get one just for reassurance / so we can tell some family earlier than we might have done otherwise with it being Christmas. It would be a nice time of year to break the news as well.

Hope everyone is doing ok today. :)

NimbleKnitter · 21/11/2017 14:05

I’m in Edinburgh, and that’s exactly what we’ve done.

Booked early scan for the week before Christmas. Should be 8 weeks then, which should be late enough to give some info

Heregoeseverything · 21/11/2017 14:32

Good afternoon ladies! waves to nausea sisters

I had been worried that once my MIL knows she will want to control every morsel I put into my mouth. The beauty of my current condition is that if she so much as attempts this, she will get covered in puke.

Heregoeseverything · 21/11/2017 14:33

@Hann I'm 12 weeks on 26 December so will be telling everyone at Christmas.

Bit concerned that you have a midwife appointment, I've heard nothing from dr or midwives and I'm 7 weeks!

hannknitted · 21/11/2017 14:42

Thanks @nimbleknitter - sounds like we're pretty close with our dates, and nice to see at least one fellow Scot too Smile

I'm tempted to do exactly what you've done and book for the week before Christmas - wasn't sure if I was being OTT / letting my anxiety about the whole thing take over, but loads of people do seem to book early scans so makes me feel better to know you're on the same page!

NimbleKnitter · 21/11/2017 14:45

Oh sorry! I’m only an adopted Scot - I’m actually Welsh!

hannknitted · 21/11/2017 14:48

@Heregoeseverything - good timing for you then if you're 12 weeks pretty much bang on Christmas! Lovely time of year to be sharing the news. Smile

From what I'm reading on here, the standard protocol for midwife appts seems to vary a lot from place to place - some people seem to have been given one straight away, and others aren't seeing a midwife at all until their 12 week scan, so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle - I called my GP and the receptionist said that the midwife sees you for your first appointment between 7-8 weeks, so she booked me in for 7+1. Some people seem to be having to fill in referral forms and wait for a midwife to get back to them etc. whereas I just booked the appt through the reception at my GP.... so I guess there is a lot of variation! I'd bet it even varies from surgery to surgery within the same city.

Good luck with your MIL - that's the upside of us living far away from our family, we're in Scotland and MIL is in Yorkshire so she won't get near me much... In many ways a shame, but in others a blessing I'm sure!

hannknitted · 21/11/2017 14:52

So close @NimbleKnitter ....! Haha, I'm only joking - my husband is an adopted Scot too! Smile

NimbleKnitter · 21/11/2017 14:57

I’m hoping having a Scottish baby will count - if only whilst in utero!

Heregoeseverything · 21/11/2017 15:15

@hann

I think I've been referred to midwives - I got a generic text telling me I'd been referred and assume that was what it was - but it took a lot of effort to convince the receptionist that anything was required at all.

"Hi, my GP told me to ring the surgery when I got pregnant, so I'm calling to tell you I'm pregnant."
(extremely bored voice) "Mmm okay...sorry why did you say you were calling?"
"Because I'm pregnant."
(extremely bored voice) "Right...and what did you want?"
"The doctor told me to call when I was pregnant."
(extremely bored voice) "Okay...well I guess I'll write that down on your notes then...was there anything else?"

I mean, this is kind of a big deal for me, I had expected at least a sparkler or something.

hannknitted · 21/11/2017 15:30

@Heregoeseverything Haha, obviously there should have been a sparkler!

Sorry you had such a hard time convincing them to actually do something - hopefully you'll hear from the midwives soon, or if not maybe give them a call back to check. You'd think she could at least have told you what to expect / when to expect an appointment etc.

The receptionist at my GP was nice and helpful, although she was very matter of fact and I did kind of expect a 'congratulations' or something which I never got... I guess because it's their job they probably have people telling them they're pregnant every single day, and I guess it's also not good news for everyone so they have to be careful.

Still, I feel like they should just instinctively know that you're bursting with excitement on the other end of the phone haha.

daffodil196 · 21/11/2017 15:33

Tips on coping with the 24hour nausea? I feel so ill. Sick, shaky, weak, shivery. It is all consuming and I don't know how to get through the rest of the day let alone the rest of the pregnancy. With my daughter I was being sick every day until she was born. I know every pregnancy is different, but I can't cope with that again. It's really getting me down and I'm not even 6 weeks yet.

NimbleKnitter · 21/11/2017 15:34

Cyclizine.

Doc prescribed it to me. It’s amazing
