I thought I’d start this thread now as I can’t see one yet! I got my bfp this weekend on a digital and estimate my due date to be 1st of July, but I have long cycles so I’m anticipating it changing at a dating scan. Anyone else with me for end of June or beginning of July 2018?

Good luck to everyone having scans!

Those of you having early scans is it for medical reasons or reassurance? And NHS or private? Can I also ask when you are having / had the scan.

I’m in two minds about if / when to go for a scan. Am 5 weeks-ish so nothing to see yet but would like some reassurance as I have had so many friends with mc or mmc I feel like it’s almost inevitable. Time is going so slowly I don’t think I can wait until 12 weeks!!

Bluebirdsky · 14/11/2017 11:51

@Lovenluck I am having mine due to severe left sided abdo pain a couple of weeks ago that they thought might be ectopic
I had a scan at the time but they couldn't see much so this is the repeat
Luckily I haven't had the pain for a week now so I am hoping that everything will be ok

Bluebirdsky · 14/11/2017 11:52

Sorry meant to say NHS

southpacificgoat · 14/11/2017 13:19

I will definitely get an early NHS scan, there is no way I'll be able to hold my nerve until the official one. The staff at my hospital were very nice when I had the mc in September and offered to scan early at the next pregnancy. I think I'll wait until week 8 unless there are worrying symptoms.

So far I have no real symptoms except slightly sore nipples and occasionally some abdominal discomfort when lying down - particularly around the ovaries (both).

Good luck to everyone having early scans!

NimbleKnitter · 14/11/2017 14:36

I’m tempted by a harmony scan, but so so expensive!

Lilychouchou · 14/11/2017 15:36

EmEarley I had a scan at six weeks on Saturday - saw a little heartbeat Smile

Lilychouchou · 14/11/2017 15:39

Good luck everyone having scans today, let us know how you get on! Flowers

I'm only having occasional waves of mild nausea at random points in the day, no vomiting. Part of me hopes that continues but then I find symptoms reassuring so part of me wants it a bit stronger Confused

EmEarley · 14/11/2017 16:00

@Lilychouchou did you, oh that’s wonderful!!

Thank you for letting me know! Keeping everything crossed that I’ll see something similar

Xx

Charlotte1106 · 14/11/2017 16:19

The scan today went well... or so the doctor said as I couldn't really see anything lol. The one thing I did see which was nice was the flutter of a heartbeat 😀 I had my scan through nhs because I had severe cramps at 4-5 weeks and they were concerned about ectopic pregnancy. I think they only scan early if there's concerns.

Nausea and sickness persists... I'm hoping this is the worst time for it and it gets better!! I'm a first time mum and don't really know what to expect.

I'm super happy to be pregnant. However I'm finding all the illness is getting me down a bit and it currently feels like SO long until the actual baby part (fingers crossed all goes well before then). First I had severe cramps, now nausea/sickness. Is anyone else finding it a bit tricky and feeling a bit low at times?

DoubleEspresso22 · 14/11/2017 16:29

@Charlotte1106 Glad things went well today.

I feel the same about the nausea and generally feeling down. I feel horrendous all day and don't feel like doing anything or seeing anyone. Have so many days/evenings out coming up and dreading them all. So frustrating, I always thought I would be one of those people who could just power through :(

lgh05 · 14/11/2017 16:51

In my last pregnancy I powered through, took a group of people to Ghana to do charity work- I was building wells in boiling heat etc at 6-8 weeeks pregnant..... this time I can just about muster enough motivation to turn the tv channel over! I just don’t understand. I feel rough but also down mentally- keep snapping at my beautiful DD for anything and everything. Poor DH is getting no attention what so ever! Just can’t seem to pull myself together!

Charlotte1106 · 14/11/2017 17:19

I'm sorry other people are feeling down too but I am glad I'm not alone! I SO wanted to get pregnant so I feel guilty that I'm not super happy... but it's hard to feel happy when you feel physically crappy. I've become really insociable and don't want to go out after work... partly because I'm exhausted and partly because I think I'll feel really sick around food and booze right now!

Anyway we're all doing a fab job just getting by ... after all we are growing an actual little person inside us. That's crazy and our bodies are working super hard!

Top suggestions are baths and good t.v.! That's about all I can handle right now :)

DoubleEspresso22 · 14/11/2017 17:20

@lgh05 I'm sorry you're feeling rubbish this time around but glad it's not just me! Just waiting for this boost of energy you apparently get in the 2nd trimester - feels a very long way away!

lgh05 · 14/11/2017 18:30

Oh I just cant wait for the 2nd trimester! Normally dread January but this year I am all for it!!!

Bluebirdsky · 14/11/2017 20:25

All went well with my scan, pregnancy is in the uterus and there was a heartbeat 😊

Becparks · 14/11/2017 20:58

@Unicornberry I’m not sure how to pm re the private fb group. I want to join please help! :)

Phizpop · 14/11/2017 21:07

Can I join please?! Just need to talk! Slightly unexpected bfp this morning (3rd cycle but convinced myself that we had miss timed things!)
About 4 weeks at present, only had one full cycle since stopping bf my first so not entirely sure of the length of cycle!
This is my second, my ds will be 2.5 when this one is due, full of excitement, anticipation and anxiety! Last time we didn't tell family until after the scan, but having family get-together in December, and at new years may be a bit of a giveaway...!

Lovenluck · 14/11/2017 21:50

Welcome phiz and congratulations!

That’s great news bluebird!!

Thanks for all the replies re scans!

Is anyone planning to get the flu jab? Pregnant women can get it free but I can’t even speak to midwife for another 2 weeks! Confused

BlueeSpottyTiger · 14/11/2017 22:06

Welcome phizpop :) welcome &Congrats! My dd will 2.5years when this baby is due too (well she will be 30 months 12 days after the due date i have) it's going to be a handful hehe! My private scan is booked in for the 22nd of December, I'll be 10+2. They are a really good place, i went with dd and the deposit is £10 and then an additional £35 when you actually go, What a bargin! I'll book another for 16weeks (if I'm lucky enough to get that far) for a gender scan :)

Sorry some ladies aren't coping very well.
I don't really have any smptoms yet apart from occasional nausea but I'm only 4+6. HG will most likley kick in soon again, and my life will be confined to my bedroom or Sofa. So I'm feeling greatful for feeling so well at the moment! I hope it passes for you soon! Xx

BlueeSpottyTiger · 14/11/2017 22:07

love you don't need to speak to your MW about the flu jab, Your GP can do it. I'm going to wait until around the 9week mark xx

Heregoeseverything · 15/11/2017 01:56

peeks over parapet

Hi all, I've been watching this thread but didn't feel very pregnant and didn't want to jinx it!

I'm 6 weeks today according to ovulation dater on the internet, 6 +3 according to LMP. Due date around 11/12 July.

Symptoms so far:

  1. HUNGER. ALL THE TIME. Feel ready for my next meal an hour after my last.
  2. Salt cravings. Crisps, crisps, crisps.
  3. Swollen boobs.
  4. Occasional nausea after eating.
  5. Cramps - these were only slight, more or less daily last week and the week before, but have now largely died down.
  6. Fatigue.

Who's with me?! Anyone else eating everything in sight?

lgh05 · 15/11/2017 03:36

Congratulations @Heregoeseverything I pretty much crave salty carbs constantly!Nightmare. Now that nausea has taken up full time residency I am very picky and fickle with what I fancy eating.

Quick question if you are due 11/12 and your 6 + 3 I can’t get my head round those weeks. I am 6 + 5 but due on the 6th. Are your cycles long? Keep panicking thinking when I get dated I am going to be put back a week.

Lilychouchou · 15/11/2017 06:58

Congratulations Charlotte and bluebird, that's lovely news!

Welcome all new BFPers Flowers

heregoeseverything your symptoms sound like mine!

Bluebirdsky · 15/11/2017 06:59

@lgh05 I am 6+6 and due on the 5th so my dates seem to tie in with yours as well

lgh05 · 15/11/2017 07:06

Oh good @Bluebirdsky I didn’t want to loose a week when the weeks are long enough as it is!
