bargainous 65cm ball

Gill - just read your post properly. Sorry you had a weepy weekend - I'm the same with lack of sleep, it just magnifies everything And when you're also coping with another child through pregnancy, it can't be easy.

Any chance you could drop your daughter off at someone's this afternoon (and finish early if you're at work)? You sound like you need to run yourself a nice bath and then have a snooze to catch up on your sleep a bit. I treated myself to a lovely pregnancy aromatherapy massage on Sat pm at Neal's Yard and just felt better for having someone 'look after' me for an hour in that way, if that doesn't sound odd! You could use it as a chance to snooze, too...

GillL · 23/04/2007 14:01

Thanks Annie. I really do need to catch up on my sleep. I've been thinking that I need to get a bit more time to myself. I'm trying to save my holiday to add to my maternity leave but maybe when dh has finished the decorating I'll arrange to go out with a friend at the weekend and leave dd with him.

Glad the yoga did you good. I've been thinking of doing Pilates classes at the place my dad goes to. I've actually been meaning to get dh to blow up my yoga ball. I'm sure it will help with general muscle strengthening as well as back ache.

katybird · 23/04/2007 14:03

Hi everyone, wow so much to catch up on! Nice to read everyone's scan stories, glad most of them were good (kiteflying - will have to have a moan at next yoga class!).

LO has started kicking more regularly, he managed to do it for my mum when I was home at the weekend so she's a very happy grandmother! DP didn't travel home with me and is convinced I got much bigger over the weekend, he's wawy all week with work so he'll probably think I'm huge when he gets back on Saturday! I haven't noticed anything but it might be all the home cooking I was stuffing my face with !

I've been getting a bit of back ache but my sil adjusted me yesterday (she's a chiropractor) and I feel much better. Might want to consider seeing one if it doesn't improve.

GiLL - hope you manage to get a bit of rest.

MrsBadger - thanks for the link, just what I need.

BabyMadwithBump · 23/04/2007 14:31

"Boots" have a 65cm ball on offer at £4.49 I picked one up last week and I brought it with the points on my boots card so didn't cost a thing a the end! Ball boots offer

bananabump · 23/04/2007 15:28

Sorry everyone's achy at the moment, must be difficult the second time around with toddlers to look after too! Aromatherapy baths all round tonight.

Babymadwithbump, mine have been leaky for about a month, with one in particular being particularly "generous"

It did seem early to me too because I was only about 20 weeks at the time, but I've been assured it's normal. They were acutely painful beforehand, so I knew they were up to something!

Annie75 · 23/04/2007 15:31

Ooh, meant to add that I discovered last that if I 'knead' the baby quite firmly but gently when lying down with my two forefingers, that it kicks right back! I'd been a bit scared about trying to feel it by pressing, but at my Sat preg massage the woman gave the baby a mini-massage in the same way, so I tried it myself last night (when it's normally active anyway). I also realised that I could feel the shape of the baby like this. V cool, weird and delightful!

funbun · 23/04/2007 15:45

Have been feeling kicks on the outside this weekend, although bump seems shy when DP has a feel.

Went to NCT sale on Sat morning. It was fab, got lots of nearly new stuff for fraction of new price, (nice travel cot for £15, bumboo seat, bouncy chair, gro-bag, clothes) Highly recommended if there is one near you but get there early to bag the best bargains. Check NCT website for venues.

Awful headache last night, couldn't shift it with water, sitting still. Pregnant friend recommended 'Fore-head' that you roll on directly to the head.

BabyMadwithBump · 23/04/2007 15:47

bananabump thanks, it only started last night, they had been hurting for a few days last night being the worsed, I searched MN last night and many PG ladies have had it some from 16/18 weeks so I as reasured last night but just wondered if people due the same month as me had this as well, just means having to buy BP early!

GillL · 23/04/2007 16:15

I learnt a lesson yesterday which was not to weigh myself on someone else's scales. I weighed my self on my fil's girlfriend's scales and it made me 10lb heavier than when I weighed myself at home a week earlier. I was so relieved when I got back on my own scales this morning!

I spent some time going through all dd's old clothes yesterdy and found loads of white/neutral colour clothes that I will be able to use for my ds. Together with the stuff my mum and I have bought (which isn't much really) I think I'm set for the first couple of months after he's born. It's a relief really cos I was worried about having to spend so much money. I really don't think I'll buy as much for this one as I did for dd. Girls clothes are so much prettier and I just can't resist.

I'll check out the NCT website for any equipment we might need - thanks Funbun.

GillL · 23/04/2007 16:16

I meant to add that I was only 1lb heavier than when I weighed myself at home the previous week.

Ladycat · 23/04/2007 17:03

Hi, I am 23 weeks pregnant with a daughter of two and a half. Just moved to Clifton, Bristol BS8. Can anyone reccomend ante natal yoga or other delights in my area? Fri to Mon best.

conkertree · 23/04/2007 17:28

great link there babymad - think that wins so far for deal of the week.

no leaking yet but have noticed white dry bits in the morning so there might be something going on there.

off home for a soak in the bath tonight and will watch out for any obvious shaped kicks - felt plenty but not seen any yet.

mum2george · 23/04/2007 20:34

Hi everyone

Spent most of my lunchbreak today trying to catch up with your posts but only got as far as Friday!

Have got a MW appt tomorrow as I still haven't had my MATB1 (I'm 26 weeks on Wednesday) and I've been in contact with chickenpox but hopefully everything should be ok as I've had chickenpox already.

Still can't believe how well I'm feeling this pg as I was SO faint last time. Having said that I am shattered after a day a breakdown on the way to work and then working in an extremely hot office all day.

I'm off to a NCT Nearly New Sale too this Saturday and have my list all ready for what I need. Probably a good job that I don't know the sex of the baby or I would spend all my money on the fab clothes they always have!

And on the nappies front, we used cloth last time but used the nappy laundry service, Nappies4Real for the first couple of months.

The local council offer an incentive scheme where you can either get £25 towards your nappies or 1 months free nappy laundry service. Don't know which I'll choose yet. The practical thing would be to get the laundry service for free as you have enough to cope with in the first few weeks but then I keep looking at all the very, very cute newborn nappies and think that I'd like some of those too! Decisions, decisions. Still, everything must be ok if thats all that I have to worry about!

lovelybird · 23/04/2007 21:22

Thanks for that babymad, I've just ordered a ball for me! Told DH and the colour drained out of his face for a second as he thought I was talking about giving birth at home! Ha Ha! I got a bargain from Boots last week, a tens machine for £21, and it's the same one I hired last time and that was £30. I have checked and the RRP was £60. Not sure how much use it was last time but for 20quid I'll give it another go.

conkertree · 24/04/2007 09:00

well last night was the first time that dh realised there was a real baby in there, i think. he was quite up for some 'early night' activity (for want of a better phrase and not to embarrass purplerabbit too much) until he saw my tummy move. and then again. he watched for quite a bit and we had a laugh with it, but he was distinctly uninterested in any other activities after that - he said we should wait till the baby was asleep.

BabyMadwithBump · 24/04/2007 10:00

DH and I tried some loving at the weekend but due to LO kicking and strong movements it was distracting and made the whole thing uncomfortable so we gave up in the end! When ever DH is talking baby goes wappy which make DH smile bless. When ever I have a bath DH love to watch as bump real does some rapid movements which can be seen very clearly! Feel sleepy all the time, dont feel like eating much either, hopefully that changes soon!

bananabump · 24/04/2007 11:39

Baby is moving so much right now it's affecting my sleep. I lie on my left side and he kicks the bed through me, so I start wondering if he's squished and turn over. He promptly wriggles down and kicks the bed on the other side.

What with his constant wriggling and kicking and now rib ache (oh the joys) I've probably only had about four hours sleep last night, spent about an hour wondering whether I should try and sleep sitting on the sofa. I miss lying on my back and my stomach, and I'm not impressed.

BabyMadwithBump · 24/04/2007 12:15

Same here I really miss lying on my back and my stomach too, my two fav positions to sleep in , and I find that just after my tea I cant bearth very well and feel so uncomfortable , I feel sleepy all the time but cant sleep, 14+3 to go (not counting )

Anyone else really really want to find out the sex but other half doesn't? I can list a number of reason why I NEED to know but DH doesn't want to know!!

Annie75 · 24/04/2007 14:17

Hi bananabump - you've prob tried this already, but stick a pillow between your legs while you're lying on your side, and a small thin cushion under your bump. Helps a bit, until it all gets unstuck and your bed is full of cushions

conkertree · 24/04/2007 14:28

yup - cant count the number of glasses of water that i have spilt in the last few weeks by pillows being tossed out of bed in the middle of the night - doesnt matter where i put the glass before i go to sleep - you can almost guarantee it will be over by the morning.

but the pillows have helped in getting to sleep in the first place.

GillL · 24/04/2007 14:56

I'll join the 'wish I could sleep on my back club'. I'm just not comfortable on my side. I'll have to try a cushion between my legs too. I'm having more trouble getting back to sleep after I've got up to go to the loo in the night. I think it's mainly because I start thinking about things so my mind's too active. It probably only takes 5-10 minutes but it feels like ages when I'm laying there awake at 4 o'clock in the morning.

Good for you signing up to the new doctors Babymad and for keeping the same midwife. When we moved to a different town I phoned up the nearest doctors which is about 5 minutes walk from my house but they told me that they were full. Then I tried another surgery who said I wasn't their nearest. Luckily they let me in but it takes me at least 30 minutes to walk there. Luckily I have the car, otherwise I'd have to get a taxi.

BabyMadwithBump · 24/04/2007 16:08

GillL Thanks,

All done and dusted I've now got a new doctors only tuck 20mins as well, and now we are all at the same dostors (DH was at diff) and 4 min walk tops, DS's are over joyed too no more having to go all the way across town for a Doctors app!

conkertree · 24/04/2007 16:47

just had a random email about antenatal classes in my area - no idea how they got my email address, but i wont complain - would just like to check what i'm being signed up for though.

growingbagpuss · 24/04/2007 20:02

i'll join the sore boobs club!! I'll watch out for leaks - as I think that might be coming.

LO goes really quiet when DH or DS come near!So neither have felt her kick. She and I have some conversations though.

I think this is the misearble mid point - seems like ages to go, but already been pregnant for ages.

Keep your pecker up everyone (oh, perhaps a bad choice of words), think of the bliss when you can finally lie on your back/ side/ tummy..I miss them too!!
