Good luck GillL!

How lovely Hersetta. Pleased everything went well for you.

Really busy today trying to get everything done before i go away. I bet it gets to 4.00 and someone dumps a load of something urgent on my desk!

tokentotty · 19/04/2007 13:23

then am thinking lots of 'leave MrsS the heck alone today' vibes !! Are you off tomorrow ?

Just been reading about all the pram stuff. I was out yesterday looking at the Pliko pramette - really liked it but am now concerned about the criticisms of M&P stuff. Does anyone have a Pliko pramette and can recommend it. The bugaboo and quinny are too expensive.

Glad all the scans are going well.

Annie75 · 19/04/2007 14:02

How ace to have seen the face in 4D, Hersetta! Aw, you're going to have a little girl - cue shopping trips and dressing up and making stuff . Really pleased for you.

How did your appt with the midwife go, Gill? I'm dead set on a home birth too - was she supportive?

Mrsshuvel · 19/04/2007 14:04

TT - Off on Saturday but booked tomorrow as holiday too so i can have a rest before the long flight. I think i'll need it after today. The pregnancy brain is really kicking in too. It's hard enough remebering what i need to pack as well as all the things that need to be done here. If it's this bad now and i'm only away for 2 weeks i can't imagine what it's gonna be like when i'm off for a year's ML!!!

Funbun - i have looked at the Pilkos but found them to be quite heavy. My friend, due in sept is sure it's the pram for her though.

funbun · 19/04/2007 15:07

Yes they are quite heavy but I liked that it was going to last for quite a while. I guess we'll buy a little umbrella stroller too for getting in and out of the boot of the car. Gosh complicated isn't it.

itchyncsratchy · 19/04/2007 15:08

Hi everyone!
congrats hersetta, another girl, sounds like a wonderful scan. it must be so exciting to see 4D, especially to look at the babe's face, awww!
All this talk of prams has got me looking online too, as I'm in Tanzania and can't buy any of these western things here or any good quality at least I'm thinking of shopping trip to Uk. How long will a baby use a carrycot? Is it a viable first bed? I've been looking at the Jane Slalom carrycot with 3 wheels + car seat. I'm just wondering how long we'll use it so maybe it's not a good buy

loler · 19/04/2007 15:51

I managed to squeeze my very large DS into a carry cot for about 5 months but he did end up like a mummy not being able to move!

Hersetta - congratulations on the lovely sounding scan - girls are great (boys have their moments too!) but my tip is make sure you dress her up how you want while she can't protest - I can't get my dd out of a power rangers outfit (although on hot days she has started liking the pirate outfit)!

Hersetta · 19/04/2007 16:03

Thanks all - it was lovely seeing her face. i have a real image of her burned into my mind now with cute button nose and her tiny smiley mouth.

Bought a bit of a bargain yesterday at kiddicare. Was tralling around looking at a couple of prams (they have video's of them showing you how to put them up and down etc) when I came accross the car seat we wanted (Britax cosy tot premium which came narrowly thirs in the which best carseat for 2007 awards) as an included item with a pushchair. Now the cheapest you can get the carseat for is around £90 but with the pushchair and raincover it was £99 (reduced from £253). So I have ordered one! It is the Britax Trekker 3 wheeler and is suitable from birth as it does lay flat.

Don't intend to use it as my main day to day pram as it only faces away from you but is perfect for when i go to my Mum's as it is fully collapsable with the seat unit still attached. One thing I was really worried about was travelling to Spain frequently with a young baby by myself during my ML and having to hold the baby and try and collapse the pram if the seat unit had to be removed separately (as you have to do with most reversible pushchairs) simply not enough hands ! As I'll only be away for short periods at a time, having the baby forward facing won't be much of an issue and it may also come in useful when the baby is older and wants to sit forward facing anyway. Added a footmuff (down from 29.99 to 4.99 and a parasol for a all in bargain price of £114.95. The pushchair and carseat come in either blue or dark red so have gone for the red. The carseat even fits on the chassis of the pushchair if I wanted to use it as a travel system.

Now to find the perfect pram now that I don't have to worry about whether it collapses properly or not. Am tempted by the Britax Vigour 4 with Carrycot or the icandy apple or the Silver Cross freeway linear. Absolutely no more to be added to the list (apart from maybe the Hauck infinity!!). Arghhhhhhhh!!!

pinkranger · 19/04/2007 16:45

Hersetta - congratulations on your baby girl!!
i have mine at 8.40 tomorrow so hopefully i will be reporting good news!

conkertree · 19/04/2007 17:03

that sounds like a great bargain hersetta - and congrats on your scan too - a great day all round for you.

have been keeping an eye on the kiddicare website for good deals, but not decisive enough to buy anything yet.

conkertree · 19/04/2007 17:03

(or two days) now that i read your message again properly.

BabyMadwithBump · 19/04/2007 17:06

Hi Ladies, How have we been?
I have 4 pram set up's for this LO I brought my main pram Silver Cross sleepover in Marina about 16 months (a whole year before BFP) ago from babybirds xmas sale, got the matching carseat free if a brought the pram with an accessory pack which I did, But that came with the classic chassis which is big a bouncy which I love, but DH wanted the linear chassis (town chassis) so we brought one 2nd hand off ebay, bargin if you ask me, came as a set-up (in salsa) with the accessory pack (footmuff, raincover and full suncanopy) fab condition £130 the chassis on it's own cost's between £150-£160 new. But I also wanted a pushchair I could fold up and get on/off buses with as well as fit in a small car boot (MIL and gran's car), so we brought a Silver Cross 3D pramette in marina also off ebay wonderful condition and the lady had brought a new hood for it and also came with a accessory pack, got accessories coming out my ears LOL, AND we have DS#2 Silver Cross 3 wheeler still we love it so much we kept it for this LO, well I must sound crazy and maybe I am but cant wait to use them LOL. I have pictures of my pram/pushchairs in "my photos"

I had a big plug of CM come away Monday morning and I phoned my MW straight away she told me to rest up and so on, and If I got any belly cramps to phone to hospital. Then I felt really ill Monday night, room spinning, shakey, sicky, feel like I'm not really here and so on, phone my MW the next morning she sent me for some blood tests, one being iron so hopefully that's all it is low iron! But still feeling very fuzzy!

I've not been able to sleep well for weeks now, nightmares too really are horrid ones as well, ones that you dare not go back to sleep too, woke up Wednesday night from a night mare at 4am couldn't not get back to sleep got so upset over it too. Also had in the last week bad cramps in the legs in the middle of the night I remember them from DS's but why do we get them, any one else had this too!? 15+1 and counting till this LO is out really really not enjoying any of it DS#1 I was fine loved most of it, DS#2 50/50 this LO hated every minute so far! Dh now doesn't want to know the sex of LO now working on it but I think there's no point he's made up his mind (MEN) and I was so looking forward to the 4d scan but really that was the only reason why were having it, but still, one of them things! Any one going to the Birmingham "BABYSHOW"?, DH got us free ticket though work so cant wait for that!

hope all is well with all you PG ladies, Babymadxx

Hersetta · 19/04/2007 17:21

Wow babymad- your supporting silver cross by yourself!

Almost made up my mind with the Britax vigour 4 but it's so new that you really can't get them cheaper yet on ebay.

Pink - fingers crossed for a great scan for you as well tomorrow

BabyMadwithBump · 19/04/2007 17:30

Good luck Pink!

tokentotty · 19/04/2007 17:31

Will be thinking of you Pink - get on here straight after and let us know !!!

Same goes for the others with scans pending...xxx

bananabump · 19/04/2007 22:11

Congrats on all the scans! Are the girls catching up with the boys now? Hope you're feeling better now babymadwithbump!

Are any of you considering home births? I wasn't, but I read a few things that scared the pants off me regarding the cesarean and induction rates in overweight women (50%!!!) and now I'm considering getting an /link{http://www.biz-e-kids.co.uk/products.asp?d=1&c=158\inflatable birthing pool} and doing it in my kitchen! Worst case scenario, if it all goes wrong they can take me to hospital, yeah?

growingbagpuss · 19/04/2007 22:21

Oh blimey - so much news from so many people!

Pram talk is fun - we had an old Britax thing that my cousin gave us, ugly as sin, but served a purpose - got to wrench it out of Mum's attic and try adn remember how it all works. As soon as we could we started using a lightweight p/chair (mainly coz DS is so HUGE!!!)

I've just got rid of fil, fil's g/f and niece ha bloody ha. they invited themselves down for 6 DAYS!! not like I've got anything else to do. DH too polite to tell them it was too long. Had tightenings across tummy last night (and more today) - seeing m/w 2moro maybe to get signed off for a few days to catch up on rest.

Ah - DH home.......

itchyncsratchy · 20/04/2007 06:52

good morning everyone!
I have added bump photos, very proud that it's becoming more compact. Babe very busy bouncing early mornings and late at night.
I bought the Pregnancy Bible and Lesley Regan's "I'm pregnant!" online from amazon, so very busy reading on these rainy days here.
Can't bring myself to look at the birth pages yet, flick over those quickly!
If I go to Uk shopping I'm very tempted to go for 4d scan, I'm so impatient to see her. We visited both sil's last weekend sil1 has 3yrold twins and 1yr dd, dsil2 has 4dd's youngest only 2 months and 1ds all absolutely gorgeous kids. dp already loving idea of 2nd pregnancy asap! I suppose it could justify expensive prams though..!

itchyncsratchy · 20/04/2007 06:58

Also wanted to ask about ebay, I've heard babymad - you bought pram? I had a look yesterday and was amazed that the same prams and strollers I'd looked at online where offered so cheaply. Is it safe to buy things on ebay? Is it better to buy at the buy it now price rather than submitting bids? I'm feeling these are silly questions but I couldn't believe there isn't a catch with brand new models offered at such huge discount

lizziemun · 20/04/2007 07:41

Just a quick pop in as i have killed my laptop and am just "borrowing" dh laptop till he gets mine mended but i can only use when he is not working.

I've got my scan at 11am today.

As for prams i will be using the Mamas and Papas 4-in-1 (carrycot, proper pram and pushchair) which we used for about 18 months last time, with matching car seat.

I hope everyone's ok.

Hersetta · 20/04/2007 09:07

Good luck Lizzie....fingers crossed for you.

pinkranger · 20/04/2007 10:21
