BadZelda · 11/04/2007 11:10

what a brilliant idea ;)

hollyandalice · 11/04/2007 11:10

Can I come on your lovely picnic? London is only an hour on the train and dp's kids live near Putney so I can be in that neck of the woods too.

BadZelda · 11/04/2007 11:11

(have just collected champers and it's HEAVY - will have to hire a sherpa to carry it home....poor me

foxybrown · 11/04/2007 11:23

I'm in between you both, in Wandsworth. Would love to do a picnic, excellent idea!

foxybrown · 11/04/2007 11:28

right, I am off to Bristol. Will try to log on (it takes too long to catch up if I don't keep an eye on this thread!)

Everyone stay well and happy, hope you all have a good few days and 'speak' to you soon.

LOlove xx

hollyandalice · 11/04/2007 11:37

Taffindra · 11/04/2007 12:25

For all those with anaemia problems - I can heartily recommend some stuff called 'Floradix'. Available in all good health food stores - its a natural iron supplement, tastes discusting, but it works and avoids all constipation issues.
Have just ordered tiny-weeny size eco-nappies from www.spiritofnature.com - has anyone else started packing a hospital bag? I can't remember what to put in it - clothes for me/baby, maternity pads (eghhheh), snacks, nappies.......what else is there?

Daisybump · 11/04/2007 12:44

Yikes Taffindra, you're making me feel positively lazy....haven't even thought of hospital bag etc yet, and time is marching on....now 31+3 .

I keep on looking in baby shops and mentally trying to sort out what I need but, maybe because of my 2 previous mcs, I'm being a bit wary about buying stuff. I've bought one or two bits of babygros and vests and some newborn nappies and muslin squares (for all you first timers, def recommend them....great for burp cloths, spills, makeshift bibs, facecloths etc). One thing I have had for ages is some disposable knickers...don't ask me why i felt they were an urgent purchase? we have ordered the pram and cot, but don't take delivery for another month, so hopefully this LO doesn't come early either

was in toys'r'us this morning (see told you I'd spend all my time in the shops after finishing work...had to bribe DS with new power ranger toy to make him behave sets a bad precedent, but....) and they have a baby hospital bag for about £30 which has wipes, nappies, newborn clothes etc and the bag isn't too bad either which i thought was really reasonable.

trying to do some nesting and sort the house out, but it's been a bombsite for so long I just don't know where to start....so we're off to see the in-laws instead...i'll worry about it next week when he is back at school. DS wants to stop over tonight, so hopefully they will be happy about that....then I can go to the pub tonight!!

Weighed myself this morning, expecting to be , but got a pleasant surprise.....only 16lbs total so far .....i was 2 stone up at this point with DS and I've been living on diet of chocolate for much of this pg so feeling a bit smug!!

And, its not chicken pox....just a bad case of hungry insects.....DH is also very tasty to biting insects, it's like having my very own insect repellent system when I'm out with him as they eat him (and now DS) and leave me alone!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 11/04/2007 13:09

Some other SPD advice from my physio :
Plastic bag on seat of car for sliding round with knees together to get in and out.
To get up from sitting pull up pelvic floor, put hand below bump & pull lower tummy muscles in, shuffle fw, squeeze knees tog, push up with head up. (yep, takes me about 10 mins to get off sofa).
Turning over in bed - do few pelvic squeezes first, keep knees together, roll slowly keeping pelvis braced.
Sleep with pillow between knees also.
HTH.

Okay my lovely June ladies.

I'm going to be emailing you from tonight with your swappee details. Have to pop out to see a lady just now so can't start sorting you before I'm back. If you haven't had an email from me by Friday morning give me a yell! (after checking your spam boxes lol).

For those that want to get in on the act last minute.... best do so now.

Mars

My midwife said my baby was beautiful today and I nearly hugged her. I mean, okay, I know that what she meant was that his heart beat was good and he was a good size, but deep down I was pretty sure she could just tell that he is utterly gorgeous in a covered-in-vernix-with-a-squashed-up-head sort of way.

I knew it. I'm going to be one of THOSE mothers.

I'll get my coat, shall I?

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 17:16

Thanks Lovely Marslady. So kind of you!!

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 17:19

BZ, LOL. If only I had a bike...

Okay, I'm going now. Talking to yourself is just not cool.

Daisybump · 11/04/2007 19:47

Just seen marslady's post.....I want to join in with the shower, but have been trawling through the posts to see what I need to do and can't find it...help I don't want to miss being in on it, i'll feel like daisy-no-mates

My e-mail is daisybump at yahoo dot co dot uk. could someone e-mail me what i should do, or post it on here.

Cheers

Daisybump · 11/04/2007 19:54

LOL Marylou....I was really worried when I was pg with DS that I would have an ugly baby, and that because I had thought that, he would be born ugly......then when he was born and was (not surprisingly) the most beautiful thing that I had eve seen in my life, i got paranoid that he actually was really ugly and everyone else could see it but me......crazy hormones or what

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 19:54

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 19:56

there was a fabulous thread that Lilkel pointed out a couple of months ago on first time mothers and their babies. One mother admitted that she nearly didn't go to her NCT reunion because she didn't want the other mothers to be jealous of her beautiful baby... .

My favourite, though, was the mother who bought a stair guard even though she lived in a flat that only had two steps...

hollyandalice · 11/04/2007 20:11

Hi daisy, how is mystic red ranger today? Has he got chicken pox? Hope he is ok!

I'm sure you're mw was 100% accurate and your baby is already beautiful marylou. They can tell these things you know! When Alice came out she was all scrunched up and purpley red and yucky, but she was still (and still is) the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen!

Daisybump · 11/04/2007 20:32

MaryLou...thanks for that, now a fully siged up member of the secret shower....yay

Holly....mystic red ranger is fine....the doc thinks he has been attacked by a seriously hungry blood sucking insect as the spots aren't typical of chicken pox and no others have arrived. also, he's been jumping around like a loon today and isn't showing any signs of being poorly at all.

bribed him today at the shops by buying him a new power rangers toy....couldn't face another tantrum...he turns into the tasmanian devil as soon as we cross the threshold of a shop, must be something in the warm air curtain . Gave him the toy box to carry and he was as good as gold all the way around (methinks this could get rather expensive)

sat in the sun all afternoon at the MILs...now have a lovely pink glow which will hopefully be nice and golden brown tomorrow.

hollyandalice · 11/04/2007 21:24

It's awfully quiet this evening!! I am sorting out dd's toys, it's a never ending job. How can one very small person have so much stuff?! Her toys are slowly multiplying and taking over the house, so it's time for a blitz!

Glad mystic red ranger is ok daisy. My dd is a little brat when shopping too. She won't get in her buggy, but if you let her walk she runs away. Supermarkets are the worst! She hates sitting in the trolley and wants everything you put in it. She ends up eating loads before we've paid!

Oh well, back to my sorting! Have a good evening everyone x

bumperlicious · 11/04/2007 21:36

Hi all

Daisy, we were in Toys r us today too, wonder if it was the same one...?

Jeepers, I really am paying for it though. Went to one of these huge out of town Malls/Retail parks did Toys r us, Asda, John Lewis, H&M, Boots etc. etc. We took hours, and I was fine while we were wondering round (better than usual actually) but now we've got home and ache like buggery plus baby is in a really weird position which feels like it's pinching the front of my belly, quite painful actually.

But we bought a steriliser (microwave - Avent) an avent breast pump, nappies, breast ad maternity pads, nipple cream, changing mat and some other bits. First time I've actually been excited about baby stuff. Plus we have chosen a push chair. Going to get a Quinny Buzz. Ok I know they are heaps of money (my dad is buying at lest part of it though) but DH has pretty much fallen in love with it (I quite liked the m&P pramette) but I think we have made out choice. Now just going to find out the cheapest place to buy it online.

Glad it's not the pox daisy.

Marylou that was the one about PFBs (precious first borns) it was great!

Really looking forward to finding out who I get in the shower!
