hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hollyandalice · 10/04/2007 19:52

I keep snorting! I think it's coz my lungs are starting to get squished and sometimes I find myself struggling for breath a bit. I did it when I sat down just then! Interesting!

How rude of your dp foxy! My dp is on the pc so I have nicked his work laptop! It's better atch coz I can sit on the sofa in relative comfort rather than perched on the chair!

hollyandalice · 10/04/2007 19:54

Really? Maybe I should post! I bet no-one else has washed a joint of lamb!

I must go and do some chores. If I come back on within the next hour tell me to go away!!

bumperlicious · 10/04/2007 20:01

Euuwww, you all can keep your peanut butter to yourselves ladies - and don't breathe your stinky peanutty breath over me either! Yuk yuk yuk!

DH is not allowed to eat his Skippy (the best in peanut butter apparently) in my presence!

Catkin really sorry you are i such pain. Wish I knew what to suggest. Don't suppose paracetamol makes a blind bit of difference?

Just had v calming yoga. I love my yoga teacher - he talks such sense, and not in a lentil weaving type way either!

Going to spend the rest of my evening eating banana bread and trying to ignore the footie! I don't really mind football, and I love going to the pub to watch a good match with a beer, but not really into watching it at home - it's so noisy, and I have low tolerance levels for just about everything at the moment!

Daisybump DH and I had a bit of a convoluted getting together involving a psycho/suicidal ex girlf, and we all happened to be housemates at the time . Meant for the first yr and half our relationship was a secret then the next 2.5 years were spent apart while I did MSc and he went back home. Guess that's why after 6.5 years we are still in our honeymoon period as we didn't properly get one until we moved in togetehr and have only been living together as a couple for 2.5 years.

Daisybump · 10/04/2007 20:12

What's with the title for the thread this time around?

Where's the controvesy?

Are we mellowing into serene expectant ladies, happy for life to wash over us as we sigh with contentment??? T'would appear so......

well, I'm sighing a lot, in a slightly musical way, but I think it's more to do with bay pushing up on my diaphragm rather than a sense of well-being and inner peace and harmony

Daisybump · 10/04/2007 20:15

On the subject of peanut butter....my mum used to make these lovely sweets called peanut butter balls.....basically peanut butter and sugar and maybe syrup, rolled into balls then covered in chocolate....deeelicious. Recipe came form America.....might have to do a google and see if I can find the recipe again....sorry bumper if I've offended your taste buds with that one!!

hey guys
not been on here much things are so hectic here i just havent had the energy to post, have just been lurking keeping up with things.
things have been really bad the last few weeks, i am STILL anemic despite 3 iron tablets and truck loads of orange juice. been suffering all the symptoms breathlessness, exhaustion, dizzyness, palpitations, headaches, loss of appetite, fainting and wicked ice cravings that have actually chipped the enamel off my front teeth
i cannot wait for this to be over im really sick all the time, and i dont care how tiring everyone reckons 2 under 2 is it cant cause this many symptoms, infact it could come as a welcome break
got repeat bloods tomorrow to see if my iron levels are any better this week, and to test b12 levels and a few other things.
how is everyone? have you got everything yet?
we have bought nothing except clothes and bottles and the pram (which still hasnt arrived long story lol)
so if she comes early she will be sleeping in toms old car seat until we have a chance to get to the shops
glad to see everyone is okay, will make more effort to post. love to all

Hi NT&B, was just wondering today where you've been. Sorry things are so crap for you. Hoep you are being looked after. I can't imagine how hard it must be to feel so crap and have a LO to look after. Really hope you feel better soon.

We haven't bought anything yet either, except for a few clothes from the NCT nearly new sale, so if this one comes early it'll be sleeping in a drawer! I hope you get the energy to go and get some stuff soon. Can you get stuff of the internet? Have you had a chance to look at H&As fab link to lots of discount codes (here )?

Good luck and hope you keep popping back!

TALLULAHBELLE · 10/04/2007 22:13

Daisy - I have never been measured and i've been seen by 4 different m/ws. At last appt I asked about size and she said she tells by looking and when she has a feel of yr belly. Have never been weighed since first visit either. Think this all a bit worrying esp as always seeing smne different. How can they tell if u have grown or not if have never seen u b4?

Fatcatkin - sounds like spd. I've got it too. My GP signed me off work for 4 weeks and I've been to see physio too. Its most painful on getting up, walking and stair climbing is excrutiating. Sound right?

hollyandalice · 10/04/2007 22:29

Wow!! I have a beige wall!! Dp decided as we had stripped the border off the wall he was going to paint it! It looks lovely! Now just 3 walls left! I can't actually believe I got him to do it!

NT&B hope you feel better soon.

K1K2 · 10/04/2007 23:36

Back already after just 3 day break- hey I am catching up! Though this thread moves so fast you have to keep dipping in.

A large second wave of chocolate just injested has kept me up to do a post ( plus nada on the telly)- Daisybump we must be leading parallel lives, not only do we have the same EDD, and also having a house build, but we had the same eggs for Easter!! However I now I feel sick ( I even raided DS's mini Lindt chick stash that was meant for an Easter egg hunt at the Grandparents house yesterday , but was forgotten , wicked Mummy!)

NT&B good to see you after a long absence, but sorry that you have been pretty awful with the prg. Me too with various things inc anaemia- lets hope your bloods come back with higher levels. Doggus gave good advice about making sure I eat prunes to counteract the constipation. Thanks Doggus ,I was actually eating them already, because I had problems in that department anyway -didn't know the iron tablets added to it though!

Very excited also today because the builders have knocked through upstairs and we can go through to our second bathroom and extra bedroom now, weird to see a hole at the top of our landing instead of a wall!. Entering into the DP stats debate started earlier on , I must be one of the major players in the cradle snatching league - my DP is 32 and I am 43!

Well night night all - I must be the only one still up on this thread, got to get this camomile tea down my gullet to counteract the chocolate buzz, and LO inside somersalting in reaction to all that sugar. Sorry for another long post Now I am endeveavouring to catch up I'll try to make them shorter

fatcatkin · 11/04/2007 06:45

Good morning everyone!!
Looks like it could be another sunshiny day so i'm wafting the loveliness to you all....

Tallulah - SPD has been mentioned although not officially IYSWIM! It does really hurt when I get up especially when I've been sitting for a while (not great for today as I have a 2hr car journey to make!). I also dread going to bed as turning over through the night is painful too. Ho hum, will just have to hope it doesn't get much worse!

Having had my 1st peanut butter fix for the day (sorry bumper!), I'm going to go and pack as I'm going away for a few days. . Will try and pop in but if I don't, enjoy the rest of the week everyone and i'll be back on Saturday!!! xxx

Seansgirl · 11/04/2007 08:57

Morning!

Have a good time Catkin, it does look like another nice day, it supposed to be very warm for the weekend

Sorry to hear about all the painful fanjos, thankfully have seemed to escape so far.

Good to hear from you NT&B sorry you seem to be suffering, hope the blood tests go well and show some improvement. Pop in to see us soon!

Off now to take DD to nursery, have got doppler blood flow scan today at lunchtime, so see you later.

Have a good day in the sunshine

ps Foxy or anyone else who watched life on Mars - so is he dead or what? we were a bit confused - or are we being a bit thick?

bumperlicious · 11/04/2007 09:02

Good morning

Catkin, hope you have a fab time away, and that the SPD gets better. Are you going anywhere nice?

We are going to toys r us today to look at pushchairs. What a mine field! Don't know how we are going to agree on one either (except that I'll win coz I'll be the one doing most of the pushing!) But DH is vehemently against anything in a cool colour. He quite likes the quinny buzz, but I'm not so sure. Any hints or tips before we go would be v welcome!

hollyandalice · 11/04/2007 09:10

Bumper the Quinny is fab! They look cool and are lovely to push. They also take the maxi-cosi cabrio, which is the best carseat. There are loads of lovely buggies out there, just get the one you feel is right for you. Just don't buy a Graco..yuk!! They are nasty and plasticy!

I just woke up! This is the best lie in I've had for ages! How sad is that? 8.50 is a wonderful lie in! Am going to have breakfast (muffins with peanut butter) and help dp move the furniture back. I love my beige wall!

Hope your scan goes well seansgirl x

BadZelda · 11/04/2007 10:05

Hey all - happy wednesday morning - isn't it a lovely day? I am cheerful as I'll get two free bottles of Tattinger today (ok I can't drink them for a couple of months, but free stuff is cool!). Sorry to hear you've been suffering with horrible SPD - it's excruciating. I've only had it a little bit so far this time, thank f* - but I think maybe it hasn't got so bad because of avoiding certain actions / movements / activities which made it much worse last time? You probably already know this but...

  • try not to push anything heavy like supermarket trollies or heavy doors
  • sit down to put knickers / trousers / shoes etc on
  • try to avoid 'rolling' when you walk (swaying from side to side) - feels more comfy at the time, but puts a lot of extra pressure on the pelvis
  • pelvic floor excercises Massive apologies if you know all this already - not trying to be patronising, but finding out this stuff really helped me!

zx

bumperlicious · 11/04/2007 10:10

Yeah, what is it about supermarket trollies? It's not until you are pg or have some kind of problem with your hips or both that you realise what a strain it is to push them. Have to force DH to come shopping with me now as I just can't take the strain of them.

Fab news about the champers Zelda! You are so lucky, I love champagne! Am thinking of taking some to the hospital when I go into labour!

BadZelda · 11/04/2007 10:26

Yeah...they're giving everyone in the company a presentation pack to celebrate their sickenly large profits. I assumed that as a filthy freelancer I wouldn't be on the list - so was rather pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong. Has made my day ;)

Do any of you peddle? I did find that when walking more than about 10 feet was toooo painful last time, I could still get around on my bicycle - but not recommened to take it up at this late stage unless you were a cyclist before...did help a lot though.

foxybrown · 11/04/2007 10:44

morning all. how are you ladies this morning?

Am just waiting for the bloody gas men to fix the sodding boiler (yeh, again I know) before I head off to Bristol for a couple of days.

Alas I have no buggy, finally died on me yesterday so I'm waiting for my new one. I've gone for a Silver Cross (a good make I believe) but a pushchair suitable from birth. Hopefully it'll last as long as my Maclaren did. They're not cool or particularly attractive, but do the job for a long, long time. As a first time mother I'd definately want something a bit funkier and expensive though! I'll be hauling the double round for while anyway.

Good advice BadZelda! I'm not too far from Northcote Road if you are ever around and fancy a meet up.

BadZelda · 11/04/2007 10:55

Hey Foxy

I live in Brixton - definitely up for a meet one of these days. Will be finished work towards the end of May, so maybe we could all arrange a lovely picnic in clapham or somewhere similar? Marylou, you're round this neck of the woods as well aren't you?

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 10:56

QUick post for NT&B and K1K2 - have you tried Spa Tone? It's a liquid iron supplement that I've been taking religiously for the past couple of months - is in most natural source, so very easy to digest (you add orange juice), gets absorbed much quicker than tablets and doesn't affect your digestion (ie you won't need prunes... ). My sister suffered from anaemia in all her pregnancies and she swears by the stuff. You can get it at chemists and also supermarkets - about £3.50 for two weeks' worth. I was seriosly knackered and weepy before I started taking it - don't know if i had low iron levels, but within two days I was back to my normal self. My midwife recommended it, too.
Hope you're both feeling better soon!

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 10:58

Yes! And picnic sounds like fab idea. I'm in Putney so it's just a short bus ride away. I think Lilkel is nearby, too, when she's back from Germany...

BadZelda · 11/04/2007 10:58

And I don't know what I do to pushchairs, but I have killed two, and Ella's only 2 and a quarter....one graco (wheels fell off, and it got really wobbly) and now a MacLaren (just about on its last legs...). Not sure whether to do sling for the first couple of months and keep with the single buggy...think Ella will be happy to walk when she's nearly 3, or am I just lining up a nightmare for myself?

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 11:03

COuld you get Ella to walk and push the baby in one of those toy pram at the same time? I mean surely these children have to start pulling their weight at some point?

marylou23 · 11/04/2007 11:04

(Leaving you free to walk behing swigging champagne out of the bottle)
