Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Here's me showing off about my lack of heartburn! Well guess what? I've been awake half the night feeling like my throat is on fire! I blame the peanut butter coated muffin I had at 11 last night! I really don't feel like eating now, what a nightmare.

Good choice of pushchair bumper! Your dh has great taste! If I was having my first that's def the one I would go for. I love the topline range of colours, you can go really funky. This website has most of the new colours. You can get them cheapest from ebay. There are loads of companies selling brand new ones at much lower prices than anywhere else.

Has everyone got their secret shower names? Just checked my email and it's there waiting for me. You are a lucky lady!!

My dd is having a great time unsorting all the toys I spent hours on last night! I put all her soft toys in a giant holdall to get them out of the way and she is literally inside the bag playing with them! She is mental!

Oh well, best try and eat something, I'm starving!

mytwocents · 12/04/2007 10:27

wow looooong thread, no time to catch up properly today..... have skim read but sorry if I've missed anything really important! Everyone ok?
H, the heart burn is horrid huh? I find bread is the worst thing for setting it off, esp at night.
Ok so, I'm getting massive! Feel bigger every day and have started standing with tummy out, hand on hip in proper pregnant pose, also baby is a wriggler! Squirms away loads and i feel it all over - mad feeling!
Sometimes gets into weird positions that really hurt, sure this is normal....
Had long talks about names over the wekend, thought I'd share a few for general consensus.......
Girls; Rose
Mika
Ava
Bella
Violet
Dylis
Sophie
Boys; Theo
Zeke
Zephyer
Barnaby
Anton
Wilbur (my favourite)
Casca
Huxley..............

mytwocents · 12/04/2007 10:30

Damn!!! I've missed the shower!!
Well if anyone drops off or cant do it.... let me know please....

hollyandalice · 12/04/2007 10:50

Mytwocents, I'm going to cry...Bella was our fave girl's name and we're having a boy and I can't think of any boy's names. I love Theo, but dp is not keen. I think we'll end up with a William, it seems to be top of the list atm. I also love Violet and Ava, they were both on my list too! You have great taste! (Apart from Wilbur...lovely name, but he was the pig in Charlotte's Web!!)

Well the HB is still there, but I've had a yoghurt and some nesquick (I hate milk on its own) and some chewing gum and it seems to have settled for a bit!

I'm going to go and plant some beans now!

marylou23 · 12/04/2007 11:32

Ooh, lovely names. Wilbur's lovely, as is William. I also like Wilfie, but doesn't really work with our surname...

Boys' names are so much more tricky than girls' names, I think. We've got a few ideas, but keep changing our minds

Holly, HB is horrible. I've only had it a couple of times but it's been agonising - all across my front, my back, everywhere. Milk sometimes helps...

sputnik · 12/04/2007 11:32

Hey I'm back everyone.
Had a great easter doing sod all, weather fantastic and I have returned from Wales with a tan from sitting in my Mum's garden
my spd type pains completely vanished too, and then came back as soon as I got off the plane, so I'm trying to work out whether it's the sitting or the walking (I'd been out shopping the day before leaving) that's causing it. Might try moving my laptop to the sofa.

Nice names Mytwocents, Theo is on my shortlist too, and given that it's currently a shortlist of 1.... I have asked Marslady on your behalf whether it's too late for you to sign up for the shower, maybe if there are some others that missed the boat too.

Got the name of my showeree too, am so excited, tomorrow I'll be in town to see my gynae so can do some shopping while I'm at it.

sputnik · 12/04/2007 11:50

The spreading bum effect is some kind of optical illusion, isn't it? Right?

bumperlicious · 12/04/2007 12:06

My bum matches my bump - just in the opposite direction!

hollyandalice · 12/04/2007 12:12

Mine too bumper! I'm kind of symmetrical! I have just emailed you with my La Redoute customer number, but when I log on and try and use it it doesn't work. I don't know if it's their system or me as I can't pay by debit card either, it just keeps saying error. It's really pissing me off!

I still haven't done any gardening yet, the HB is making me feel sick. Maybe I'll have a sleep when dd and see if it goes away.

Hope your flight was ok sputnik. My spd pain is being intermittent as well atm. Sometimes I can walk around normally and it's like heaven and then it will reappear when I least expect it.

sputnik · 12/04/2007 12:13

It's nature's way of stopping us from falling over (didn't work in my case, but I was going downhill at the time)

bumperlicious · 12/04/2007 12:20

Thanks H&A, I will try it later. Bit shopped out after yesterday! Plus bracing myself for an NCT sale on saturday (it's not going to be pretty!)

Feeling so tired once again, after having a fab few days off, last night we smelt gas really badly (we don't have it in our flat but was coming from downstairs. Called transco the they called the police and woke up everyone in our flat at 1pm last night to check their flats! Still don't know what caused it but made me feel a bit sick and didn't get to sleep till gone 2am, then one of my work colleagues rang up with a question at 9am. Was vile to DH as result of feeling so crap. Just tried to go for a nap but my house is such a mess can't relax till it's done!

Glad you are back sputnik. I spent hours trawling roubng the shops yesterday with no problem till I got out of the car after coming back and thenmy hips killed! So maybe it's a combination of walking and sitting if that makes sense?

Mytwo sense, hope you get a shower partner, if not I'll be your not so secret shower partner too! Can never do enough shoppping!

sputnik · 12/04/2007 12:26

Hi Bumper, that's wierd about the gas. You can't be too careful with these things though.

It's looking increasingly like horizontal, on the sofa or, even better, the bath, is the way to go from now on.

mytwocents · 12/04/2007 13:21

Welcome back sputnik! Cheers bumper, I'll be watching thread more now...
Can't remember if I told anyone about what happened at work a couple of weeks ago but it's just happened again......
One of my patients - a very very mad lady with 40 yr history of schizoprenia - who is a little fixated with pregnancy and all things religious has just held my bump with both hands ( she's 6ft btw...) and declared that I'm going to give birth to the son of god , very loudly , in a busy place . . .It's a good thing aparently, she keeps telling me how lucky I am...Oh bring on the maternity leave!!!!!!

Yes H , wilbur was the pig in Chalottes web but what a great character and story!
Peace and cake xx

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 13:31

Just got back from my physio appointment and have been given a giant piece of tubi-grip to wear as a bump tube....nice, especially in this hot weather

The physio explained about overtilting your pelvis to compensate for your growing bump which gives you a much more pronounced curvature in the small of your back....so yes Sputnik...it is an optical illusion, it hasn't really gotten any bigger.

Got my secret shopee too.....now to figure out what to buy . I forgot to give marslady my RL name....no doubt the postman will be amused to deliver to my MN name!!

Got to get on and do some housework....but can't get motivated. Like Holly, I feel like getting some gardening done as the weather is nice, but know it will kill me so I'm leaving it fr DH this weekend. I've got so much to do and just don't know where to start. I have washed all DS's old baby blankets and some of the new wee babygros I bought, so they're hanging on the line looking cute and lovely and it made me want to weep when I was hanging them out (aaaah)

My pink glow from yesterday in MIL's garden is now rather crimson, sore and patchy so trying to stay out of the sun today...serves me right for not putting any cream on, but don't think I've ever been burnt this early in the year before.

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 14:36

Have a look at this t-shirt .

BadZelda · 12/04/2007 14:44

R.e. bump touching...met a sweet youg korean girl at the bustop yesterday who was asking me about pregnancy. I could see she really wanted to know what the belly felt like but was MUCH too shy to actually touch me without permission so I said 'go on have a feel' - it's suddenly turned into a large 'shelf' off my front (but no change anywhere else, weirdly, so I do look a rather odd shape). R.e. coming and going aches and pains, it's could be because the baby is changing position, so putting pressure on different parts of your anatomy? If it gets into a really uncomfy position, I always find lying down on the right side for a little while helps encourage sprog back to a more comfy position?

zx

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 15:11

I don't mind people that want to touch, but are shy about it...it's the ones that assume they can without asking, which thankfully has only happened once or twice.

When I was at the MILs yesterday, her neighbour came out for a chat.....she wins top prize for being tactful...she said to me "my you're plumping up nicely", which is loads better than the usual...."you're getting big"

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 12/04/2007 15:20

Hi everyone!
I am working from home this afternoon so I thought I'd join in with you all for a bit (work is v boring at the mo!).
H&A - I had awful heartburn - the kind that has you waking up 2-3 times a night choking on acid vomit (sorry, gross I know).
Then I had a pedicure and the therapist also does reflexology so she had a go on the bits of the foot that relate to digestion etc - and bugger me -IT WORKED! 2 days after that my HB was soooo much better.
I now have a 1/2 hour reflexology session every week (my therapist knows all about reflexology during pregnancy - this is important as it can induce an early labour if certain points are treated).
I can't stop telling everyone! its fab!

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 16:26

Hi dontknow...looks like the weather has taken everyone outdoors today, its been really quiet.

I like the sound of reflexology bringing on early labour......can they do it on purpose? ...if so, I'll get myself booked in around week 39-40 so I don't go over my dates and need to be induced

sputnik · 12/04/2007 16:30

Hi Daisy, I'm about. Are you finding physio helpful? Was thinking of trying it.

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 16:43

Hi Sputnik...good to have you back with us after your break...I was away for a week and a half and feel like I've missed so much!
I've been seeing a physio privately and she has been a great help, she's given me some very useful exercises which have made huge difference. She suggested I speak to my mw re getting a support belt (free on NHS rather than paying for her to get one for me) so my appointment today was at the hospital ante-natal clinic. It was a group appointment, but there were only three of us there, and they concentrated on pelvic floor exercises alone. I didn't get a belt in the end....just a long length of giant tubi-grip whch I need to wriggle into. I've not tried it yet, but its bad enough getting into my knickers on a daily basis. So, not as useful as the lady I pay to see really, so I would recommend going private if you can.

I need to do lots of ironing, so I'll give the tubi-grip a go then....it should help with standing for long periods.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 12/04/2007 16:47

Hi Daisy

Yep you can use reflexology to bring on labour - when the time is right (I am told?).

Don't you just hate it when you add to a thread and all goes quiet? Felt like a billy no mates for a while!

sputnik · 12/04/2007 16:56

I'm also loving the idea of induction by reflexology, every labour ward should have one.

I actually have insurance that would pay for a limited amount of physio, so I should go for it really if it's worth it. Lots of people have health insurance here as they have this wierd system where you have to pay for lots of stuff anyway on the equivalent of the NHS, so you may as well pay a bit extra and go private half the time. It's the same with the gynae. Might as well get my money's worth

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 16:57

Right...need to find myself a reflexologist. I also heard that raspberry leaf tea is supposed to loosen things up nicely, and the physio this morning said that using the gym ball towards term is good too.

Sputnik.....i've just been through some of the old posts trying to get clues for my secret shower recipient and was reminded of your cervix (God that sounds awful, but YKWIM....) How are things....has it settled down?

sputnik · 12/04/2007 17:10

Thanks for thinking of my cervix Daisy (sounds like an idea for a greetings card, "thinking of your cervix on this special day", sorry, rambling). Will know more when I get to see my gynae, was supposed to be tomorrow, but there's a train strike so don't know if I'll make it to see her.
