I used to be a psychological researcher so I also know that you can make research say pretty much what you want it to say, so unless something is really well established, I would go with your instincts. You need to pick your battles on here and the feeding ones are usually not worth getting involved in.

Sympathy euuwww for the rats annobal. We had rats in a rented house once and had to leave in then coz they were in the kitchen wall cavity and the landlord wanted to poison them then leave them to rot in the wall - nice!
