hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
foxybrown · 15/04/2007 20:53

THAT is madness!

Now I am browsing the site... don't need anything ...don't buy anything ... don't need anything .... don't buy anything....

Bumperlicious, check out the Summer Infant Baby Carrier - its reduced to £9 - immediately thought it would be good for your DH to do his bit, and SO cheap you can justify it!

foxybrown · 15/04/2007 20:57

OH I WISH I COULD DO LINKS - CHECK OUT THE EXPRESSION BRAS AM LITERALLY PMSL

NOOoooooooooo!

It comes on halterneck or bustier ...

Oh stop, its hurting

foxybrown · 15/04/2007 21:02

expressionbras

foxybrown · 15/04/2007 21:02

I did it!

annobal · 15/04/2007 21:10

Is that legal?

Daisybump · 15/04/2007 21:20

Noooooooo....horrible..PMSL though.

We should start a competition....the most unlikely accessory for the mum-to-be/new mum.....

Had some responses to my Doula quest, so will try to see prospective Doulas in the next few weeks. Might need to see MarsLady for advie on questions to ask.

I've also been talking to the lovely ladies on the April thread re the merits/dosage/optimium time to take raspberrry leaf tea and it seems to help with dilation, so think I'll give it a go, safe in the knowledge that if DH doesn't make it home in time, I'll have my Doula to keep me company

foxybrown · 15/04/2007 21:25

Good news about the Doula. SmilingKiwi has one, doesn't she? (where has she gone??)

Lulamama is another doula on here, isn't she? She seems very lovely too.

I drank Raspberry Leaf Tea, its vile. Will definately have the tablets this time. Also going to take caulphyllum, a homeopathic remedy, both from week 38.

Its a tough call as I could really do with this baby being two weeks late as DP has work commitments, but I want her out too!

hollyandalice · 15/04/2007 21:44

I am STILL painting! Told dp I needed a sit down so it's time to catch up!! I am doing no housework this week at all, this weekend has knackered me out and I need the recouperation!

PMSL at those expressor bras!! WHY??? Surely you express in the comfort of your own home where it doesn't really matter if someone sees your nips!

I took raspberry leaf tablets from 36 weeks and my dd was 2 weeks late, so not really sure if they worked! They may have helped with the strengthening of uterus muscles though as she came out quite quickly.

foxybrown · 15/04/2007 21:47

you be careful Holly - you'll need at least 3 days rest after all this decorating!

we are going to start ours next weekend - am inspired by you all! Did do the garden today though.

Am off to bed, my hands and feet are puffing up before my eyes!

nite all

hollyandalice · 15/04/2007 21:53

Night foxy! I have visions of your hands and feet inflating to a monstrous size! My hands are a bit puffy today, can't wear my ring, it's too uncomfortable! I think dp felt a bit coz I wasn't wearing it!
xxx

riabutterflew · 15/04/2007 23:59

Wow, I have missed so much (have been away being jolly and positive and happy with parents for couple of days, then so drained by all such activity that I just couldn't face people, even friendly virtual ones. Sorry.)
Holly, I haven't worn my wedding ring since about 3 months after my wedding! I haven't been thin since then either. Damned "honeymoon" babies.
I know this is old news but I am now 29 (Oh my) and DH is 42 later this year. I was 19 when DS1 was born (perfectly planned, although not as honeymoon baby - too many questions asked, another couple of months would have been fine...)
DH has just had 2 days off work with a chest infection and went back today not fully recovered. Where is he now? Work. Why is it I don't believe that he will have two weeks off after the LO arrives?
Re heartburn. My cure is burger and chips and garlic bread with cheese from the takeaway after 10pm. Best nights sleep I've had in weeks.
I am going to bed now. I will not wait up any longer and will be very hormonally pissed off when he gets in so had better not be sat here enjoying myself.
I will have to limit my chat time this week as I need to sort out my house (my Mum is currently fretting that LO will arrive two months early as we all did - my sister is now 39 and she was just over 2 months early, so try not to worry about that too much (tho I know it's hard not to). We're all fairly hefty too!!!)

riabutterflew · 16/04/2007 00:01

meant to say sorry for long post. Have a good week. Only 1 more day til back to school!!!

annobal · 16/04/2007 07:03

Good morning! Got an early morning wake up call at 5.45 aargh!! Guess I should be getting used to it - however I still want to kill someone

I'm also planning on the Raspberry leaf tea - may take the capsules tho as the tea is vile. I think it is meant to tone the uterus, not make the baby arrive earlier but make labour easier.

I have also had to take off rings due to puffy fingers .

Hope everyone enjoys the sunny weather today - not sure that we will be doing much as nursery starts again tomorrow.

MarsLady · 16/04/2007 08:49
sputnik · 16/04/2007 09:03

Annobal I woke up at that time too and can't even blame anyone else for it.
Ria I was wondering where you'd got to.

PMSL at the expression bra: "entertain an older child", entertain the whole family probably

I had to move a ring yesterday too, I think it's a combination of warmer weather and water retention, at least we have something to justify gaining weight now.
H&A you have been working much too hard, put your feet up girl

I'm a bit jealous of the decorating though as we've now had to put ours on hold.

Had quite a traumatic time getting DD ready to go out this morning, she's a bit funny about getting dressed, you need a bit of patience, offer her a couple of choices etc, and she likes her routine like all 2 1/2 year olds. DH was in a hurry and lost it, cue DD in tears, me feeling helpless etc. etc. I think the novelty of doing everything with Daddy is beginning to wear off for her. They got off ok in the end though, I'm always amazed how quicky they bounce out of these things.

On the upside our new cleaner has arrived, I know her in a hello on the street kind of way as she is the wife of the owner of the local hardware store, she is very sweet and is just getting on with it. I'm a bit embarassed about the state of the house though as Italians all have totally spotless houses, they are extremely anal about cleaning and I am a total slob in comparison.

Whew record post for Sputnik!

marylou23 · 16/04/2007 09:05

Foxy, that expressor bra just made my day. Who designs these things?!

Okay, am not going to talk now for at least four hours as have huge amount of work to do. If you see me lurking, tell me off. Otherwise I'm going to end up having my laptop in the delivery room...

hollyandalice · 16/04/2007 09:16

Sorry to brag, but I've only been up for half an hour!! Was absolutely knackered as was painting til gone 11 last night. Have to admit that I was a bad mother and didn't put dd to bed til 9.30 so she would sleep later!!

Another lovely day here, may spend it in the garden as I completely missed the weekend!

Ria myself and my brother and sister were all born at 36 weeks so I was prepared for an early baby...6 weeks later I was still waiting!!

Sputnik I hope your cleaner is going well..I'm glad I don't live in Italy, if they all have spotless houses they'd think I was disgusting!

Daisybump · 16/04/2007 09:17

Good Morning Ladies....

Just packed DS off to school for the new term, and boy what a trauma that was....by the time we got his bedroom finished it was after 8...a late night for him, then he was up at 2:45 and then I didn't get back to sleep until......6:15, then he woke me up again at 6:45. Needless to say it's all been a bit fraught in here this morning. Going to have a cup of tea and then go back to bed for some much needed zzzzzz.

Cleaned the toilet at 5:30 this morning though. Nesting, this early ??...I think DH thought I had a screw loose when he got up and couldn't get in cos I was up to my elbows in cleaning fluids....

Daisybump · 16/04/2007 09:18

Holly...that trick doesn't work with my DS...if anything he gets up early if he's gone to bed late and as a result is extra specially cranky all the next day.

BadZelda · 16/04/2007 09:24

I feel for you Annobal...Ella must have got out of bed the wrong side this morning, as she came and whined loudly in my ear at 6.45am this morning too...maybe it's just cos it's so hot and bright already? (though she has blackout curtains in her room: highly recommended, and v. cheap to adapt existing curtains - you just buy blackout liner for £4 a metre in the market and sew it to the insides) but I digress. Finally got hammock sorted in garden...looking forward to stopping work so I can spend days lazing in it. Great for babies too as I discovered with ella when she was tiny - I just tied a really long string to it so I could rock her from the kitchen whilst cooking. Still feeling astonishingly cheerful for a 7 month pregnant whale who's just dragged herself into work after early morning wakeup call and not enough sleep...happy monday everyone!

bumperlicious · 16/04/2007 09:27

Morning all
Urgh, I've seen those bras in the NCT catalogue and they have a picture of a women just sitting there reading a magazine, as you would while you are being mechanically milked like a cow!

Thanks foxy for the heads up on the carrier and for the offer of a loan. We actually have one that has been lent to us, but I want a side sling, just not sure which one to get. Apparently NCT hire them out so I might give that a go before I spend even more money on things I potentially don't need! I am really worried about money actually. DH and I rent a flat, we live in quite an expensive area and neither of us makes brilliant money, though I make a lot more than DH. We are already going to take a hit when I go on maternity leave as I want to take my 13 weeks SMP, then the plan is for us to see if we can both work part time - though I don't no how the hell that will happen when we barely make it through the month as it is! Sorry to start a depressing conversation on a monday morning, just worried how we will manage.

Anyway, enough of that. Sputnik, thinking about you a lot and hoping that you are ok! Is there like an anti-raspberry leaf tea you can take to stop things progressing?! Have they talked about giving steroid injections? Take it easy anyway and enjoy having a cleaner! Whereabouts in Italy do you live? Don't worry if you don't want to say - just very !

sputnik · 16/04/2007 09:38

Thanks Bumper, I'm taking magnesium and another thing, both of which are meant to stop contractions.
I live about an hour outside Rome, in a really nice place halfway up a mountain, lovely but a bit isolated. Tomorrow I will be 10 floors up in my MIL's Rome apartment though

Daisybump · 16/04/2007 09:42

I hope she has a lift, LOL

And no wonder you LO gets stir crazy there....are there any nice parks or open spaces nearby?

riabutterflew · 16/04/2007 09:43

Mondays are generally depressing. DH still in bed as he didn't get in from work 'til 12.20 and I am getting more and more .
The weather is grey and windy and I have to get DS1 to finish his homework, not to mention the supermarket run so we don't have to have toast again.
Think I would like to go back to bed and cry. A LOT.
Suppose it will serve him right if LO arrives now and he has to do all the preparation himself...the other two were both two weeks early so I suppose I have plently of time, it's just I would like to get organised NOW (with some help).
Sorry, I am just really PISSED OFF (will be cheering myself up with La Redoute later...)
Promise to pretend to be jolly tonight

hollyandalice · 16/04/2007 09:45

I know exactly what you mean about money bumper, we rent this house from my parents, which is good in a way because we can do what we want to it, but not like owning your own. I can never see us being able to afford to buy our own house, not with the prices round here. We completely struggle month to month and really cannot afford for me not to be working, but I couldn't bring myself to go back to work. I hated my job and wasn't earning very much at all and I know that if I'd have had to put dd in nursery to go back to that shitty job I would have been super depressed and miserable. There was no possibility of going back part time, so I didn't go back at all. Sometimes we don't pay bills, but we manage(ish)!

Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone bumper!!! The best piece of advice I can give you for when baby comes is shop around for the best prices for things, you can save loads of money. Buy in bulk in the sales and don't be too proud to buy second hand. I have turned into the bargain queen since dd was born! Oh and join every single baby club there is. I never pay full price for any baby things, I always have a purse full of vouchers!
