hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
marylou23 · 13/04/2007 17:56

I've been worried about the lopsided thing - LO likes nothing better than curling up in a little ball on the right hand side of my stomach. It's very cute, but will I still think that if I have a baby shaped sag in ten years?!

I guess this is why mothers get so hung up about their children remembering mothers' day...

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 18:03

Yeah Marylou...its payback for the years of emotional trauma the little buggers put us through!!

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 19:52

Dh is home so I can out my feet up for a bit....he's trying to put a very excitable nearly 5 yr old to bed.....DS has been practising on his bike all day and can do a wee stunt jump on the garden steps and has been giddy with excitement about showing DH all day...bless him. He's suddenly decided that his bike (which he got for Christmas 2005 and was a bit big for him) is his new best friend and wants to be on it all the time so he can practice and lose his stabilisers...I think he thinks it's a power ranger motor bike!!!

bloody knackered, and only managed the kitchen and folding the washing and sorting it into piles.

I've just released myself from my body-grip and what a relief, although I must say that I have had no sacro-iliac pain at all today, and even managed a decent walk so DS could practice on his bike.....who cares how stupid it looks

Well, off for an evening on the sofa.....no more chocolate to eat so may have to send DH out for some supplies later...would normally raid DS's supply, but hes a bit older and wiser and has it all accounted for this year .

doggus · 13/04/2007 20:05

Soft and jelly-like sounds like my non pg tummy. I have actually just bought one of those Slendertone belts (stop laughing at the back) - my friend swore by it and nowadays they don't have all that electrode nonsense - you just wrap it on like a support belt.

Daisy - nice one on the policy, I can't believe you don't have emergency supplies of chocolate. We have just come back from Waitrose and I would like to draw your collective attention to

a) half price or less Easter choc; and
b) the new Cath Kidston toiletry range, veeery nice.

bumperlicious · 13/04/2007 20:33

Yeah but £18 for a bubble bath? You've got to be kidding me - but I bought some half price mars bar eggs from there today and Cartmel's Sticky Toffee Pudding which DH and I just demolished in a nanosecond! Damn shame that Waitrose is our nearest supermarket! Though we do have to take out a small mortgage to shop there!

doggus · 13/04/2007 20:59

Aah, bumper, I was in a rush and didn't see the price, just the gorgeous packaging (the mark of a very gullible consumer right there!), particularly the soaps. I think they will make nice presents, but as you say they are more expensive than Clarins!

I love that Cartmel sticky pudding, but dh and I had it every night for three days recently (dh evidently eating for two as well) and now I can't face it.

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 21:05

Right...so you are saying Waitrose has half price Easter eggs..everywhere I have been has sold out! I shall take a trip tomorrow to buy some!

I hate wallpaper and paint and generally decorating! We have this hideous plastic coated flowery border in the living room and it is an absolute bugger to get off. I have been stripping for ages and not even finished yet. I honestly don't know how we put up with it for so long. It's disgusting!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing evening! I'm not !!

Twiglett · 13/04/2007 21:06

Just had to pop in to say ROFL at thread title

very' good

carry on preggers chappesses

doggus · 13/04/2007 21:10

H&A - is there no way that flowery plasticky border could be describes as Cath Kidston-esque? Thought not. It's a crap job isn't it? Just focus on how lovely it will be when done.

Twiglett - you should have seen some of the alternative suggestions! We are very refined ladies in this thread....

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 22:35

Just got your email doggus and about the weather!! 23...hooray! Unfortunately I think I shall be finishing decorating the living room for most of the day ! Honestly the border is nasty! I have to point out that this house used to belong to my grandma before we moved in, so the decor is very old-ladyish! The living room is now a lovely warm beige colour...unfortunately there is not a lot we can do about the artex ceiling!!

Have a good sleep everyone and a lovely sunny morning!!

annobal · 14/04/2007 08:21

Morning all!

Love the new title! We've just gotten back from a week in Norfolk and I haven't managed to catch up on what I've missed yet. We had a great time - weather was fab and it is such a nice part of the country. So we're now back in smelly London breathing those fumes!!!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying this fine weather.

annobal · 14/04/2007 08:23

btw is anyone else noticing how many thin people are out there??

sputnik · 14/04/2007 10:46

Bummer....
Saw my gynae again yesterday and my cervix is now 3cm dilated. I had been a bit worried as I had quite a few contractions on thursday night.

Anyway, I have been told I have to stay in bed and only get up for the toilet. While on one level obviously that's my idea of heaven we're still trying to work out the logistcs of it all, how to get DD to nursery, food, house, whether to go and stay with MIL etc.

DH and DD have been fantastic so far and I'm feeling strangely calm about it.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 14/04/2007 11:24

Oh bugger! Hope you'll be okay Sputnik?!
Sounds like you have the green light to totally 'chill out' and everyone else will have to sort out the duties?!

sputnik · 14/04/2007 12:12

Hope so too Dontknowetc.
However chilling out at my MILs house is not that easy, and DD goes stir crazy after a day there. Hope we can work something out so DH can work at home for a day a week or something.

auntymandy · 14/04/2007 12:15

just dipping in to say hello.
Not long to go now!!!

bumperlicious · 14/04/2007 12:45

Oh Sputnik, what a pain. What have they said this means? Are you just to lie around and keep your legs crossed for as long as possible? Hope you are ok. You can still access the computer right?

MarsLady · 14/04/2007 12:55

So ladies... hope you've all received your swappee details. If not give me a holler!

There are a couple of people (who won't be named) who need to send me their FULL details otherwise their swaps won't arrive.

So please check your inboxes/spam boxes etc and send me the info I need. I have another birth booked in for Monday and she could go at any time... so please let me know ASAP if your emails haven't arrived or if you need to send me details.

Happy weekend! The bbq is being set up in the garden and I'm about to pot my window boxes again (whilst listening to an audio book for my course).

marylou23 · 14/04/2007 13:41

Missing: two ankles. Last seen approx 24 hours ago. Discovered missing first thing this morning. Reward available...

Sputnik, what a blow, but glad you're feeling okay. I'm sure relaxation will be the answer - just hope you can work through the logistics.

And Holly, good luck with the DIY!

I'm off to look for my ankles...

doggus · 14/04/2007 13:59

Sputnik - sorry to hear your news, really hope you get the logistics sorted out so at least you can try to lie back and relax. Have you got a laptop so you can stay in touch?

Marslady - thank you for all your help, had a look at your website, if I were in London I'd be on the phone right now!

marylou23 · 14/04/2007 15:47

Oops. Just done a tad of shopping. There's something about online shopping that makes it somehow unreal... still, now have everything from baby hammock (essential, surely?) to nipple pads wending thier way to me. And, you know, baby massage oil, a sling, breast pump, sheepskin playmat, knitted rattle toys... Oh God. It's the sun. And the fact that the cot arrived this morning. Must remember: baby is not just for shopping, it's for life...

sputnik · 14/04/2007 16:25

Basically I have to lie around with my legs crossed for an unspecified amount of time. She said it's possible the cervix would go back to 1cm, and to phone her next week. If I don't have any more contractions I might be ok for getting up a bit.

Anyway, I have my laptop and internet. Luckily I had reduced work to a minimum anyway. Might end up doing an unhealthy amount of internet shopping

annobal · 14/04/2007 16:31

Sputnik, I'm really sorry you're having problems. If it is any consolation, I had a similar thing with DS1 and managed to keep him in til 31 weeks. He is now a strapping 3 1/2 year old. The worst thing you can do is worry about it - you need to relax and let people take care of you now.

Marylou - babies are always a good excuse for shopping - don't let anyone tell you any different.

Marslady - thanks so much for organising - I have all details and am now thinking about an appropriate gift... Also love the web site!

Just picked up my new (used) Audi A6 Avant. It is lovely and I am very happy - now that is shopping for you!!

sputnik · 14/04/2007 16:38

Thanks Annobal, that's exactly what I needed to hear.
I remember you saying both yours were quite early but not how much. Was there a specific reason in your case? There doesn't seem to be in mine.

annobal · 14/04/2007 16:58

Hey Sputnik, DS1 born at 31 weeks and DS2 at 37 weeks (but admitted with contractions at 31 weeks). I'm not sure why I had problems with carrying to term, I am Group B strep +ve but I think the main problem was a UTI. I'm not particularly sensitive to pain and didn't notice I had an infection until I had a show and contractions at 27 weeks. My Mum flew over from Australia and looked after me so I could come out of hospital. The drs main aim was for me to get to 34 weeks and I had had the steroid injection to develop the baby's lungs, so it was really just a waiting game.

This time round I have an independent midwife and she has been fab - really supportive. I have urine tests each month and she's there pretty much 24/7 (haven't had to call too much on that yet tho).

Have you had contractions? Good news that your midwife thinks that your cervix can go back to 1 cm. The worst thing you can do now though is have any sort of stress so keep yourself calm and relaxed and accept all the help you can.

Sorry for long post
