hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Poor you ! I can only suggest really looking at your posture, particularly if you're in front of a computer a lot. Do lots of stretches (a good one is standing facing a wall, put your hands on it like you're going to do a standing-up press-up and ease your shoulders back gently). And try to keep your lower back as flat as possible (ie don't allow your bum to stick out loads) as this will put strain on your whole back. If you can tuck your pelvis in when you remember this will protect your muslces and ligaments.
Can you get a pregnancy massage? Could also be that you're stressed out and carrying it in your shoulders?

Sputnik, slobs of the world unite. I didn't have an iron until I met DH. I figure once you've had something on for an hour or two, the creases tend to drop out...

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 10:54

I do that too sputnik! Dp calls me a tramp! He doesn't understand when you buy something with lycra in it stretches all the creases out within minutes! Hence all my clothes are stretchy! Dd's clothes are the worst...teeny pleated skirts and tops with bows!

I don't know what to suggest mytwocents. Maybe it'll get better as you get bigger as it might just be the act of your bones moving outwards that's causing the pain. It's a bit of an difficult place for a support device, I suppose your boobs would cause an obstruction! Hope it gets better soon.

sputnik · 13/04/2007 10:55

Citywide free internet access is my idea of heaven. I am a geek Perhaps we'll be moving back to Brighton. Laptops on the beach can't be as bad as having to listen to other people's phone conversations can it? Anyway, IME it's hard to see the screen outdoors, specially if it's sunny.

Hope you can still post when you finish work.

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 10:59

I'd best not tell my dp about the internet in Brighton, he'll want to move! Maybe they'll do it all along the coast soon..then we'll get free t'interweb too! Hooray!

BadZelda · 13/04/2007 11:14

mytwocents - do you live in London or within easy reach of it? I can't recommend the British School of Osteopathy enough for treatment during pregnancy - it's really cheap, they have lots of appointment times, and I'm sure they'll be able to help you and maybe give you some good stretches etc to do? They're right near Borough Tube.

BadZelda · 13/04/2007 11:16

And I must add I had been plying said friend with cocktails all night, so her vision was probably somewhat blurred by the time the compliments began to flow....I'm sure you're all hot too!

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:20

I'm obviously just too anal....I don't like putting things away unless they are ironed, but as I never do the ironing, it's like one big laundry in here (obviously I don't have a hang up about mess and clutter)....Maybe its time to let go.

Still not started the housework...I just look at the place, get really despondent, then go and do something else like have a cup of tea, read Prof Regan...even the Evil Jetix has been worthy of my attention . Now the sun is breaking through the mist, I can feel a spot of light gardening coming on....and mystic red ranger is twittering on about going to the park and thrusting the phone at me every five minutes to get me to phone his wee mate....

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:21

I am BadZ, but in a sweaty slightly sticky way....

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 11:26

IKWYM daisy, I sometimes just look around and think what's the point. If I tidy it it's going to be messy again in about half an hour, so I may as well have a cuppa and go on mn! I usually save all my tidying for about 9pm after dd has gone to bed. I seriously do housework late in the evening, I'm really not a morning person! Hope mystic red ranger is well!!

bumperlicious · 13/04/2007 11:32

Mytwocents, I was getting upper back pain, but only when I slept and I found that putting an extra cusion under my pillow seemed to alleviate it. But that's only for at night. I saw a fab osteopath too, but he didn't really help the upper back pain (bump in the way!) but said that part of it is sitting slumped in front of a computer. This may sound like a weird idea but can you take a swiss ball into work an sit on it instead of a chair? Sounds stoopid but my boss does it! (Admitedly there is an incredible temptation to kick it out from under him!).

Hope you get to be part of the shower, and dontknowmyarse too!

Hi to everyone else. Been a bit sporadic at the moment but spent yesterday doing a mammoth flat tidy and today just going to chill with DH.

V impressed at Marylou for actually going out! In the evening! To see people - who I bet were all getting trollied! I have a bit of a dilema actaully. Some work colleagues are having a housewarming party on Saturday, and I'll feel bad if I don't go, but I'm meant to be signed off work, so it might look quite bad. My argument is that I'm signed off work to relax and rejuvenate, so maybe if I just popped in for an hour? What do you think?

Mytwocents, not sure about the city wide internet access, but very jealous of you living in Brighton - I love it there!

Catch up with you all later anyway!

mytwocents · 13/04/2007 11:33

Thanks ladies, have had a look at osteopathy site , may go next week if gets worse, Marylou, I do lots of yoga and its always better afterwards, same with swimming, it's just if i have to sit for any length of time, like eating, working at my desk or meetings... my lovely dp tried to give me a massage last night but I am a freak and prob only person in the land who tenses up during and after being massaged, maybe an assosiation thing with sexd... hmmm tmi..sorry...Anyway -( arches back and does a standing bow pose ) - no more moaning!!! Sorry.

Ironing? Never owned one. Used to use a borrowed one for sewing but not for years, am well known among friends for turning up with crumpled linen party outfit in a bag and borowing iron just before party/christening/wedding etc...

On a brighter note, what have you all eaten today?

mytwocents · 13/04/2007 11:41

Thanks bump, think my desk is too high and may be too weird for some of the people i see but worth a try if gets worse
Yes well done to marylou, it is really hard to stay active after 9pm huh?
I reckon you should drop in if you feel like it (work party thingy), you're just being polite after all - not like you'll be doing rounds of tequila shots or racking up lines for all!
I have a birthday party this weekend with a dreaded theme! It's 'Casablanca Glamour' no less... Any ideas for dressing up the small human whale on a low budget very very welcome!!!

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:44

hope the back gets sorted out MyTwoCents....I've been suffereing mostly with sacro-iliac joint pain, but I also have a dodgy shoulder which regular massage helps to sort out. I've been to an steopath in the past though and thought it was great...really sorts you out. I keep meaning to go for a regular service, but never seem to have the time

On a differnet note, I've just posted on this thread on BF vs FF Do you think I'm in for some cyber-flak????

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 11:45

Well mytwocents, I am officially a greedy pig! I have had a tin of tomatoes and two fried eggs on toast for breakfast and I have just polished off a packet of Hula Hoops and half an Easter egg!! Yummy!!

My dd keeps telling me to shut up! She does it when I sing (I can't really blame her there) and sometimes when I just talk to her. The other day I was in the car with my mum and we were just talking and she was sat in the back saying shut up over and over again! She knows exactly what it means and she says it with real malice. I don't know where she's got it from coz dp and I never argue and I don't even tell the dog to shut up. Do I just ignore it or tell her off?

If you go to your housewarming bumper I'll feel really guilty about not going to mine tomorrow! I'll feel guilty anyway, but I don't think I will be able to stomach all the pissed up people. None of my friends have babies and are all really thin! I'll just end up feeling like an old fat heifer!

sputnik · 13/04/2007 11:45

add an extra bump and go as a camel?

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 11:46

Wow daisy, you're brave....hardhat at the ready!!

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:48

just ignore it holly and she'll soon get bored of it when she realises she isn't getting the reaction she expects......now if only I could follow my own advice where DS is concerned...the playground has been a constant, ever-changing source of really choice language, and I always go ballistic at him for having a filthy mouth!!

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:49

Good job I'm an engineer isn't it....the hard hat is actually sitting right next to me!!

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 11:51

My dp has one as well, it's red! I'll go and put it on now and wait for the fall out!

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 11:53

Thanks daisy, I think I'll ignore the shut upping for now and see if it stops. She is such a little madam and she will prob realise it's not working if she gets no attention.

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:53

It looks like the argument is getting too personal for anyone to have noticed my cheeky wee jibe....ah well, not to worry....I was just looking for yet another excuse to avoid the kitchen which would be officially shut down by the environmental health office and give Kim and Aggie palpitations....not to mention what it would do to poor Anthea

hollyandalice · 13/04/2007 11:56

I'm going to go and strip some border now! Dp wants to paint another wall this evening so we can get the furniture moved tomorrow! He's being so motivated it's scaring me!

Have a good afternoon everyone x

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:57

Back on the behavioural front...DS has started to get really agressine if he doesn't get his own way....several times now, he'seither taken hold of my wrist and tried to twist it, or has tried pushing me (I say tried cos 3 stone vs 12 stone of pg lady is no real contest) not sure how to get him out of it, and can only assume its coming from the playground, but he seems to be full of pent up aggression at the mo.

Daisybump · 13/04/2007 11:57

aggressine....surely I mean aggressive
