It is sad, but he looked so happy when I facetimed him last night and that made me happy.

@shortcake76 I've not had any morning sickness either, other than the odd wave nausea. I don't think that's unusual and it regularly doesn't start until 6-8 weeks. Half of me is desperate for it to start, the other half is hoping I skip it altogether.

What was nice when we told our folks last night is that we mentioned to both sets that it has taken us quite a while to get here and both sets said it took them a while to have their first; with my mum saying it took her 'about the same' and MiL saying it took her over a year.

lampert · 11/10/2017 10:52

Aw that's lovely @Si1ver. I can't wait to tell our parents but DH is determined we shouldn't until after 12 weeks. We have an early scan this weekend though so if everything is looking ok then I might see if I can persuade him. I think my mum might unofficially know anyway.

shortcake76 · 11/10/2017 11:02

Hope you're okay @Imbru - sorry I think we posted at the same time so I didn't see your post.

We're going to have to tell my parents as we're due to go on a cruise with them on 25 November and we have paid for the all inclusive drinks package which, all being well, I will not be able to enjoy! My DH's parents are about 6 hours from us in the car, so I don't really want them not to know when my parents will know, so I may suggest we drive up after the first scan and tell them, otherwise we're not goint to see them face to face until Christmas.

IrnBruCraver · 11/10/2017 11:07

Thanks ladies.

I told my mum the same day we found out. It was just me and her since I was 5 so I couldn't not tell her no matter what.

What is the earliest an early scan can be done? We have a company very locally who do them for £45 which seems very reasonable.

lampert · 11/10/2017 11:12

@IrnBruCraver ahhh I so understand that. It was just me and my mum too and we are super close so I feel soooo uncomfortable that she doesn't know. But DH doesn't want his parents to know and doesn't want mine to know and his not to so we are at an impasse! Was your mum pleased?

Si1ver · 11/10/2017 11:20

Oh well, looks like we might need to tell them some bad news soon. Apparently my HCG levels aren't rising fast enough. They were 81 on Friday and 105 on Monday. No where near the 200ish they should have been.

IrnBruCraver · 11/10/2017 11:21

Ah tough situation @lampert fortunately my DH totally understood and we told my mum days before we told his. We only relented to telling his because she was so concerned about how ill I seemed and I hated lying. She is a nurse so she was pulling all kinds of strings to get me tested for whatever was wrong so I had to fess up!

My mother was thrilled to bits and I let her tell my auntie who is like my second mum who was just overcome with delight. It was so cute. So it's not the most well kept secret but then these are the people I would want supporting me no matter the outcome so I don't feel too bad in telling!

Caspiana · 11/10/2017 11:56

@si1ver oh I’m so sorry to hear that. I don’t know much about HCG levels but I hope you’re ok xxx

lampert · 11/10/2017 12:08

Oh no @Si1ver. I don't know a huge amount either but what did the doc say? Hopefully it's just early days and will rectify itself? sending you big hugs x

LJFM2B · 11/10/2017 12:11

HolyShmoly Happy mum happy baby is more "general" like a biography of motherhood for her to date. She is for BAby lead weaning whereas holly willoughbys book is more for the old fashion.

For info on parenting I'd say "it worked for me is better" but if you like giovana fletcher "happy mum happy baby" is good and interesting

I am going to get a hypnobirthibg book too - although not sure I'm capable of such peace through our birth? We shall see

I have 100% written a list of thins we need/I would like 😀 Xxxx

LJFM2B · 11/10/2017 12:19

Sorry Si1ver my screen didn't update. I hope all a ok!!!! Keeping fingers crossed. Xx

LJFM2B · 11/10/2017 12:19

Although we're set on not telling parents till our scan I am actually ITCHING to tell them and finding it so hard as me and my mum are so close. I'm thinking up exciting ways to tell them though 😀 Xxx

Lorz80 · 11/10/2017 12:27

@LJFM2B how are you thinking of announcing it to your parents? I have a scan tomorrow (7 weeks) and plan to tell
my parents on Sunday. They just happen to be visiting my brother not far from where I live so we'll pop by and say hello. I was looking up fun ways to tell them too!...provided all goes to plan.

Lorz80 · 11/10/2017 12:28

@Si1ver sorry, just seen your post!!! Hope everything is ok!!! Xx

Bunnyears85 · 11/10/2017 12:41

@Paragonian - I read Sophie Flethcher's Hypnobirthing book loads last pg and has the tapes too. Highly recommend it!!

@Sulky - Good luck giving up the e-cig. I've also given up since I found out. The first week was really really tough but much better now. Just do your best!

I'm also in the underactive thyroid group! 6 weeks today, I had my bloods done yesterday but I requested them from dr. We don't have gp appointments when you find out your pg and booking appointment isn't until 10 weeks. So I pushed for the bloods to be done this week. Also in the process of changing GPs as the midwife at my current surgery is horrific and missed loads of things last pg - including not checking my thyroid levels until I was 32 weeks!

Bunnyears85 · 11/10/2017 12:48

@s1lver - I don't know much about these either. How come you had the tests done? What did dr say? Oh bless you, you have so much on your plate. Sending lots of love xxx

Mumof3cheeky · 11/10/2017 12:57

Sorry to hear that Si1ver is there a chance the numbers will pick up??

I'm panicking as this cramping is awful!
You would think it's 4th time I would be less neurotic but no!
Has anyone else had worse than normal cramping?
I usually get pretty bad during periods and have had the early pregnancy one too but this one is more like pinching them radiates through to my back as well.
I have my scan booked for next Thursday so not sure even if I went to gp, they could advise anything else?
The other thing I'm wondering is UTI?
Ha anyone had it during early pregnancy?

LJFM2B · 11/10/2017 13:15

mumof3 my MW said to expect cramping at this stage but if too bad give your gp a call or epu? They might be able to put your mind at ease.

Lorz80 so last time I had both sets of parents round and took a picture of the selfie stick (but had it on video) and told them so got there reactions on camera. ... but this time im really hoping I can hold out till my mums birthday December 1st and have everyone over and either put the scan picture on the cake or put blue and pink balloons in a box with scan picture at the bottom? Orrrr simply wrote a card to nanny? ... my mum has cancer and we've had a rough year so I know my in laws and dad will be more than happy for my mum to steal the glory when telling them. I'll film or photo what ever I do as want to start a scrap book for bubba Xxx

LJFM2B · 11/10/2017 13:17

My niece and nephew are 9 and 6 and they have been asking since we got married last July when they will be getting a cousin so I will get them a little pre Christmas gift from the baby to them ... they will go crazy. Xx

HolyShmoly · 11/10/2017 13:42

mumof3cheeky I'm booked to see GP tomorrow as I think I have UTI and I've read that they can be very bad for bump.

si1ver fingers crossed that the worry is just a precaution and everything is ok. I don't know anything about levels either.

I have pinchy feeling in my right side since yesterday. I used to get this off and on pre pregnancy but of course now I'm worried. I'll mention it to GP tomorrow if still sore.

Impatientmummy36 · 11/10/2017 13:54

S1lver I'm so sorry that must be awful, hope there's s or explanation for it xx

Mumof3cheeky · 11/10/2017 14:11

Thanks Holy I don't have any other symptoms indicating UTI just the pain.
The funny thing was when I went to the gp last week to say I get sharp one sided pain and was worried about Ectopic, she said pain wouldn't normally present itself until 7+ weeks as that's when it would stretch Fallopian tube I was only barely 4 weeks then but then gp receptionist called me a few hrs later to ask if I could pop back in a few days so dr could test for UTI and I said the pain was definitely nothing like UTI (which it wasn't) but now I'm wondering if this new pain is UTI 🤔
I just don't want to get into a state where my panic takes over and I'm just permanently at the gp making up issues!
I ll see how this evening goes then decide tomorrow.
Hope your app goes ok!

Impatientmummy36 · 11/10/2017 14:19

Hello new people and congrats!

Glad to hear people enjoying this time and buying the odd thing/planning ahead! I did it with my first from day one (ds now 3) and it was a lovely, exciting time as it should be.

This time I can't enjoy it just yet after MC experience in Aug. Was quite positive this morn after doing a clearblue showing 2-3 weeks which should mean hcg levels risen and at right level for 4 to 5 weeks (I'm 4.2)

But now I'm checking every few minutes for signs of spotting. Thought I saw something before but not sure. Desperately hoping. Heart pounding now... this is torture!

x

shortcake76 · 11/10/2017 14:52

Fingers-crossed for everybody. I am getting neurotic at every little twinge and cramp. I did start doing my usual DVD exercise this morning, but didn't want to risk anything, so found a Trimester One exercise workout on You Tube - I don't want to pile on lots and lots of pounds and want to try and keep as fit and healthy as I can.

Si1ver · 11/10/2017 15:39

The update from the doctor is (after telling me that she's not a specialist Confused ) it doesn't seem like they're great numbers but there's nothing they can do to help me.

She's going to call me back on 19th. If I've produced a positive test that morning she'll refer me to the EPU on 20th. I guess it's going to be long week.
