Welcome to the newcomers! Sending positive vibes your way @ImogenTubbs.

@Mummyloves09 I too am guilty of early baby purchases. I bought some babygrows from Next that I just adored and also one from Gap that was on sale with additional discount on top (paid £4.50 for one of their zip up grows). Will hold off on everything other than maternity wear until after first scan.

I have already research the crib and sheets I'll buy though Blush

SulkyPuddleDuck · 10/10/2017 22:20

Just had a lovely reassuring Whatsapp chat with a friend who lives abroad - she gave birth in the summer and had a few scares along the way so it was reassuring for my overexcitable brain.

@Holy I get what you mean - my boobs are on-and-off sore and I'm pretty tired (but that could also be insomnia) but other than that I feel possibly even a little trimmer given the lack of red wine in my life these last 10 days. Funny, I don't actually miss it.

I do have a horrid confession though.. I'm really struggling to get off the e-cig (vape) completely. I was a smoker for about ten years and transferred to a vape about eighteen months ago. It's been a lifesaver (quite literally) in terms of my lungs but obviously not good now. I feel so guilty and haven't even mentioned it here.. I've definitely cut right down but I'm really struggling on top of all the hormones to ditch it completely. I feel really weak willed and pathetic.

The thing that REALLY didn't help was the GP essentially saying 'Oh no it's fine, it's only the toxins and lack of oxygen in real cigs that cause harm, vaping will probably be fine.' I'm not OK with 'probably' and am doing my absolute best but in a weak or very stressy moment or a row with DP a voice in my head justifies slipping by saying 'the GP said it was fine' :( Do you guys think I'm a horrible person?

I'm leaving the vape at home when we fly to Spain tomorrow so hopefully three days in a different environment, some sun and being around DP's family full time will be enough distraction to get rid of it for good. Hopefully DP will do the same at some point as that will make it easier though I'm not going to push him into it.

IrnBruCraver · 10/10/2017 22:28

Of course you're not horrible @SulkyPuddleDuck cut yourself some slack and keep trying and you'll get there. I survived by mum's 40 a day habit while in her womb in the 80s!

mummybears1 · 10/10/2017 22:40

I've had to give up the vape pen too! I've really struggled with that so I'm with you there!!

justtryingtogeton · 10/10/2017 22:45

May I join please?

I’m 4+4 after 9 months of trying, fell instantly with no1 so was a bit unprepared for the disappointment and waiting, EDD 16th June, but was induced at 12 days over last time.

I’m 39 and my dd1 just turned 5.

I was going to join the gym and start slimming world this week as I wanted to be fabulous at 40! Instead, if all is well I’ll be pregnant (which I’d much rather be)!

Boobs are huge and sore, I’m hideously bloated and only slightly more tired. I had hyperemsis last time, hoping that’s not a recurrent theme, but have been to the docs to get some just in case anti sickness tablets as it hit me like at tonne of bricks at 6 weeks!

I also have an under active thyroid, so needs testing straight away and a likely increase in dose.

Wishing you all uneventful pregnancies!

weasledee · 10/10/2017 23:21

Hi justtrying and congratulations!
I too had HG last (3!) times and was expecting it to start today as like u, always day 1 of week 6..... but nothing worse than the mild sickness I already have! So worried
Something is wrong, can’t believe I’d be luckily enough not to suffer! Smile

IrnBruCraver · 10/10/2017 23:23

Hi from a fellow under active thyroid sufferer, I've already had my first bloods done.

justtryingtogeton · 11/10/2017 06:28

Thanks for the replies.

I have a good mw friend and after I went to the docs I spoke to her. My doctor said to do my bloods at 8 weeks, she said no the dose of thyroxine that I’m on is so high that it’s a concern, so she’s pulling some strings for me and hopefully I’ll get them done this week.

Mummyloves09 · 11/10/2017 06:36

Good morning Ladies,

Glad to see we have a few newcomers Smile. I wish us all well over the next 9 months.

@SulkyPuddleDuck well done for trying because that's the start. So these few steps are bigger than you think. You are not a horrible person you are just human. PLEASE don't put yourself down.

@bonnymnemonic I can't help myself. It's all so cute and very tempting. I have the cot bed and isofix base in my shopping basketBlush.

Well after my early scan (If all goes well) tomorrow dp will definitely start to be on the same page as me. He experienced the effects of a mc with pp so he is very cautious.

Well I hope everyone has a good day Smile

justtryingtogeton · 11/10/2017 06:38

As for the sickness irnbru, just enjoy the lack of sickness, don’t worry 90% of what we worry about doesn’t happen.

I’m currently eating like a monster to enjoy my food, if it doesn’t kick in I’ll be over the moon, if it does I’ve hopefully put a bit on to help when i can’t keep anything down.

After my last pregnancy I had my gallbladder removed, so not sure what impact that may have.

Newbietwo · 11/10/2017 06:39

Hope all have had a good night. I am up and about to hop into the shower before ds gets up. Been awake on and off since midnight with nausea- just wish I'd be sick! I have a total fear of being sick so I don't know if this makes it worse.

Gp referred me to same hospital as last time (I'm in central London) yesterday. I went to get advice on breastfeeding and being pregnant. My ds has allergies so I am still eating an exclusion diet. Gp was really good and went back to my last blood results (had autoimmune disease questioned this year as I have had severe joint pain postnatally) and told me it was theoretically fine based on that, but I looked thin and it might be too much of a toll. I think I just needed this validation to start really thinking about weaning. It's only a feed ahead of sleep and nap time but I do feel sad to stop. Will get going over the weekend I think.

Just realised we'll have the booking appt and the scan before telling people . Last time we had to tell our families at 6 weeks as it was over Christmas and I was having constant spotting/ bleeding and was all over the place. This time I really don't want to tell them before I'm ready but we do need some kind of childcare for ds!

Sorry for the long rambling post.

weasle and justtrying** fingers crossed you don't have huperemesis this time.

Newbietwo · 11/10/2017 06:40

Hyperememesis, sorry.

17caterpillars1mouse · 11/10/2017 07:36

Does anybody know if you can take children to the scan? I can't remember if I saw children there last pregnancy but I doubt we'll have childcare for DD1

Zoo33 · 11/10/2017 07:38

I’ve had the papers through for my booking in appointment and scans. Apparently I need to have a blood test at least 3-4 days before my first scan - any idea if they’ll do that at my booking in appointment (which is 2 weeks before) or if I need to arrange that with my doctor?

Zoo33 · 11/10/2017 07:40

@17caterpillars1mouse My paperwork says no children but maybe that’s because of limited space?

Paragonian · 11/10/2017 08:06

Ok, been out of this the past week as crazy busy at work, with lots of stressors. Know I need to slow down there. It's an emotive setting at the best of times! Got a scare at the weekend also after niece developed chickenpox - mother could not recall me ever having them... so immediate blood test for immunity and then worry all day Saturday, Sunday and half of Monday. Thankfully immune 👍 and has certainly helped me put work stress in perspective!

On a symptom note, suffering with lots of pregsomnia and just coming down with sore throat and runny nose now (day off today though!), but nothing else so far. 5w5d

Bought no baby purchases exactly but have started reading Sophie fletchers mindful hypnobirthing book and milli hills positive birth. Anyone else considering these?

weasledee · 11/10/2017 09:26

17caterpillars, I wouldn’t take children to a scan personally. It all started going wrong in my last pregnancy at my 12 week scan. That’s when they found out measurements were wrong and the pregnancy more than likely wouldn’t last. It would have made the situation much worse if my DC would have witnessed that x

Si1ver · 11/10/2017 09:34

We told our parents last night and they were so happy. My dad has cancer at the moment and I'm so desperate for him to still be here and meet his new grandchild.

shortcake76 · 11/10/2017 10:04

Oh Si1ver that is so sad, but hopefully he'll be around to see his new grandchild :-)

Is lack of morning sickness something to be concerned about? Apart from a couple of waves, I've not had anything. All I am experiencing is backache, headaches and sore boobs, which I have to confess aren't as sore as they were a few days ago, so beginning to fret something is wrong.

lampert · 11/10/2017 10:06

Don't worry @shortcake76 , I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I felt absolutely fine until late last week and now, here I am hiding in the loos at work because I feel so ill. Make the most of feeling ok!

I only have it mildly and luckily have only been sick once so I really feel for those poor ladies who have it really severely.

shortcake76 · 11/10/2017 10:10

How many weeks are you @lampert?

Oh no - that sucks. Hope nobody guesses before you're ready to tell them!

Actually I have convinced myself we're having a boy - abnormally cold hands and feet and dry skin on hands and havign to keep slapping on hand cream - I have been doing too much reading! Lol.

lampert · 11/10/2017 10:20

@shortcake76 Technically, from my LMP I'm 7 weeks 2 days, but I have longer cycles and I know I ovulated late so I think I'm more like 6+4 or 5.

Still very early days! Time is going soooooo slowly!

@Si1ver I have everything crossed for you that your dad gets to meet his grandchild! That's such a sad situation. Hopefully your news gives him a little extra push to fight even harder!

IrnBruCraver · 11/10/2017 10:21

Had a rough night. Sorry if this is tmi but does anyone else get severe bowel pain that feels like the cramping and when they go to the toilet it is difficult to go because for some reason pushing is hard? It's normal when it comes out (sorry again) but the pain is so extreme and the inability to push is so weird.

Anyway was up twice in the night in agony and am now feeling extreme nausea. Oh goody.

shortcake76 · 11/10/2017 10:22

Me too @Lampert - cycles are usually around 40 days! I used the NHS calculator and it said 4 weeks, whilst the rest are saying 6 weeks based on a 40 day cycle! Yes, very early days still. Have my GP appointment on 23/10.

Mumof3cheeky · 11/10/2017 10:28

Irnbru sorry to hear you had a struggle last night. I suddenly developed and very bad back and lower tummy cramp and was very worried last night so took a couple of paracetamols and had an early night.
I remember getting same cramps before but it was very intense. So intense both my legs felt burning hot.
I have just booked my early scan for the 19th so just have to survive this week then hopefully will know either way if things are going ok or not 😬
