I'm planning to call them at 6 weeks. First trimester is such an anxious wait. Hoping having a toddler to keep me busy will make things seem faster than last time

lampert · 21/09/2017 19:12

Wow that's exciting @ladydolly! I haven't thought about ringing the doctors yet. I think I will wait for a bit longer to make sure it's not a chemical before I call them.

Is a flu jab mandatory / recommended? I don't know anything about them!

ladydolly · 21/09/2017 19:15

You can get a flu jab if you're pregnant but I get one every year because I'm asthmatic, that was my other reason for calling, they'd been telling me I needed an asthma review but I got really stubborn thinking 'well I'll be pregnant soon and I can do them all in one visit' silly really.

Tentatively joining as I have a faint positive, Af due at the weekend. This will be DC#3.

When do you guys make your midwife appointments?

Recognise some names of the conception boards, nice to see you over here Smile

GreggsSausageRolls · 21/09/2017 22:38

Off to bed now as shatters so apologies for the short post but will catch up soon with you all and actually make some sense!

purplebiro · 21/09/2017 23:10

Hi ladies! I'm due 27th May according to calculations but I ovulated late so I reckon it will be early May. It's our 2nd - dd's 3rd birthday is 31st May...eek! @ladydolly same here - booking in next Thursday - does feel early but I guess it will break up the long wait til 12 week scan a bit. Not sure if I will be mw or consultant led this time - I was last time for gd which got pretty bad because I reacted badly to metformin and had to use insulin - really hoping not to go through that again.

purplebiro · 21/09/2017 23:10

*early June

lampert · 22/09/2017 06:50

Congratulations @GreggsSausageRolls how far are you?

Congratulations @purplebiro. Your dates + late ovulation sound very similar to me!

Tested this morning again and my line is a bit daker. Yay! AF was due yesterday and hasnt shown either so I'm trying to relax a bit.

I have period type cramps in my tummy and back but this morning I also feel like I have wind type pains! Anyone else?

pulpi · 22/09/2017 06:51

Morning ladies, can I join you? I'm due (tentatively) on 3 June, but that may get pushed forward at the 12 week scan (I was due with DS1 26 July until the midwives changed it to 21 July. Of course, he didn't bother showing up until 5 August.). The line on the FRER is faint, but it's there!

These are this mornings tests. Not much darker than yesterday but af due over the next couple of days. I'm 38 too and will have to have a section at 37 weeks so bricking it already. I've had obstetric cholestasis with previous pregnancies so will get it again plus have endo and adeno and my uterus and vowel are stuck together so I'll be having a section but by the head of obstetrics at my hospital which scared me even more!

Congrats to you all. Oh 37 weeks puts me at May 16th or something but I'd rather keep up with my pretend due date buddies so we can compare symptoms etc. Ah, this shit is real now BlushConfusedGrin

Morning greggs and purple, so great seeing more of the TTC boards gang over here!!

Yes to cramps and back paid. And wind type feelings although to be honest... it's wind Blush

I'm still testing every morning despite having quite full on symptoms. It reassures me to see the tests getting darker.

I've got a very fancy and boozy birthday lunch tomorrow with a group of friends, I'm claiming a sugar free diet to explain away the booze. They'll all guess, since dd is nearly 3 they've all been asking me when we'll have another so have been watching me like a hawk for at least a year!

Git the anti sickness bands out and they made a massive difference, I still get waves of nausea but it's not constant.

Welcome to the new people

Well morning sickness has started already :( woke this morning at 5 feeling so queasy. Heaving alot.

I had bad morning (all day) sickness between weeks 6 annd 28 with DD and looks like I'm not escaping it this time either except it's starting at 4 weeks. This will be fun with a toddler to look after lol

McTufty · 22/09/2017 08:13

Welcome @greggssausagerolls and @pulpi and @purplebiro. Congratulations to you all!

@lampert I am getting menstrual style cramps but my back is fine! No nausea here yet but the nipples are on fire!

@ladydolly are you going to tell them if they're rude enough to ask or just let them guess? This is something I'm having to think about as going out with a good friend on Saturday and I don't think she will believe any excuse I give her so then I think why not just say? But I don't know!

I've got dark lines on FRERs and the sore nipples so I'm stopping testing for now. Might do a digi next week to see if it's gone up to 2-3 yet!

ladydolly · 22/09/2017 08:19

mctufty I really don't want to as it's so early, they are all massive gossips, it will be the husbands that outright ask. I can probably keep it secret but we had this first time around and DP caved with a mate who outright asked him at 7 weeks. Having said that I've already told one good friend at work (because I was panicking about a work project in a few weeks) and my best mate but that's because I 100% trust them and would need them if I lost the pregnancy anyway.

OP posts:
purplebiro · 22/09/2017 08:32

Yeah, we've told parents, my two best friends and my boss (he's a good friend and I took two days off earlier this week because I felt rough/glad of the excuse Hmm).

Absolutely no symptoms here but tests are getting darker and with dd I didn't find out until 9 weeks - no symptoms and irregular periods. Despite having been ttc that time for six months it didn't even occur to me to test until I felt rough for a week when we were on holiday. Duhhh. Totally dodged a bullet there though because I didn't have to do this loooooong wait until 12 week scan - it's horrible, brain going overtime on the worst case scenarios.

lampert · 22/09/2017 08:48

Ahh that's interesting @purplebiro! I really want to tell my mum in a couple of weeks (assuming all is still ok). She will def guess anyway! DH doesn't want anyone to know until 12 weeks though and says I can't tell my mum until we tell his mum, but he doesn't want her to know cause she will start interfering and will tell the whole family. Gah!!!

Are any of you planning to have an early scan privately? I just can't imagine getting all the way to 12 weeks with no reassurance!

I'm so grateful for you ladies on here - this is the most exciting but lonely time ever!

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/09/2017 09:09

We didn't tell anybody until 12 weeks last time. It was nice having it as our secret for a while.

We're telling parents and siblings at 8 weeks this time but only because I'm a bridesmaid for sil and dress shopping is booked in for when I'll be 9 weeks so she needs to know really

ladydolly · 22/09/2017 09:11

You described it perfectly lampert that's how I feel too!

We didn't tell parents until 12 weeks last time, no one knew we wanted kids so was a HUGE surprise and 1st grandchild on DP's side so it was big. This time I want to tell my mum early because I'll need her help with DD in a few weeks when I start to feel really rough. I won't tell MIL early though, Bil and Sil only just announced they are having DC1 next Feb and I want it to be about them for as long as possible.

I've asked DP for an early scan (we had one last time), he wasn't keen but I will probably get my way :)

Does anyone feel a little queasy after taking their pregnacare tablets or am I starting to get the beginnings of morning sickness? Thought it was too early for morning sickness (4w4) and have only been taking the tablets for the past few days.

ladydolly · 22/09/2017 09:35

boofay I already have nausea and I haven't started pregnacare yet but on the May thread someone else said they only felt sick when they took them.

OP posts:
lampert · 22/09/2017 09:53

Ahhhhh I'm so torn! DH and I are both only children so we will be the only source of grandchildren for our parents. Part of me doesn't want to risk telling them because they'd be so heartbroken if the pregnancy fails but I want to talk to my mum! I think if we do decide to have an early scan around 8 weeks maybe we could tell them then. That's still 3.5 weeks away though which sounds like an eternity!!!!

@BoofayTheOompaLoompaSlayer I've only taken 3 days of pregnacare so far and no nausea. I just noticed you're meant to take it with food though which I haven't been doing - oops!

purplebiro · 22/09/2017 10:36

I can't afford Pregnacare (and I eat a really balanced diet so not too bothered), am taking folic acid but should I be taking vit D too? Read that somewhere and I think the advice has changed since dd was brewing.

BoofayTheOompaLoompaSlayer · 22/09/2017 12:17

Vitamins etc are 3 for 2 in Boots at the mo, including folic acid tablets and Pregnacare.

I'm sure the Pregnacare tablets are overkill but as they were on offer, I thought why the heck not!

purplebiro · 22/09/2017 12:34

Having said "I can't afford" I'm now looking up overnight stays at a spa local to my mum's for a babymoon come April/May... Blush

BoofayTheOompaLoompaSlayer · 22/09/2017 12:39

@purplebiro Priorities!! Grin
