@SulkyPuddleDuck I think what you're feeling is normal. 2 weeks after my bfp I'm still testing daily with my internet cheapies. I've no idea why. I just feel so out of control it's the only thing I can do. I'm desperate to know if everything is ok in there! I'm trying to wait until 8 weeks for an early scan but that feels a loonnnnnng time away.

LJFM2B · 03/10/2017 11:02

IrnBruCraver haha were not painting the prettiest of pictures of pregnancy with all this wind and indigestion!! but hopefully it will all be worth it

SulkyPuddleDuck i think no matter how silly you feel just chat to the midwives or your doctor? ... and of course if you feel like it would help then book an early scan - because i have no idea when im due its hard to know how long im going to have to wait!!

Feels like a whole lot of waiting how ever long it is

ElizabethLemon · 03/10/2017 11:17

Congratulations everyone.

Sulky, I feel panicked too, it's awful. Every twinge or ache sets me off and today I feel absolutely fine, no nausea or sore boobs which is making me stressed!

The farting is awful though 😂. I started before I'd even finished my dinner last night, my ds was appalled but maybe a bit impressed too?

Lorz80 · 03/10/2017 12:37

@SulkyPuddleDuck I am currently living in London but we want to move to Edinburgh before the birth - so won't be too far from you then! I'm from near Stirling originally and moved to London where I met my husband. Desperate to move back to Scotland! :-)

Lorz80 · 03/10/2017 12:39

Sorry that was @pulpi

SulkyPuddleDuck · 03/10/2017 13:02

I'm so annoyed! I just rang my GP surgery to book an appointment and ask for a blood test and they said they will give me NOTHING until I 'think I'm about ten weeks' (including no blood test) and then I have to book an appointment with the midwife. No preg test at the doctors, no bloods, no chance to discuss any concerns. Nothing.

WTF?! Angry

LJFM2B · 03/10/2017 13:08

I know my GP doesnt see pregnant patients at all either, they said once you register with the hospital you are assigned local midwives - any concerns should go through them!! and you dont get there details until you get your booking appointment!!

Apparently this is down to the fact they are just too busy these days Hmm

RockinRobinTweets · 03/10/2017 13:30

Just had my booking appointment too, super fast too. Booked in my 15 week appointment too Shock

SulkyPuddleDuck · 03/10/2017 13:31

I'm so frustrated... I know it's the timing vs number of doctors and patients but all I wanted was to see a doc and get a blood test.. I have to wait until mid November to even be allowed to phone and book a midwife appointment. I'm going to go crazy Sad

jmojo · 03/10/2017 13:36

Hi another June baby here. Edd is about 7th June. I have a 2 yr old Dd. I joined a mumsnet group last preg which evolved into a FB group. I have to say those ladies were (and still are) some of the best support I have ever had, so here I am again. Smile

jmojo · 03/10/2017 13:40

sulkypuddleduck can I ask what blood test it is you want?

LJFM2B · 03/10/2017 13:41

jmojo welcome! this is my first so this is good to know!! hope we can do the same for you ... and congratulations

SulkyPuddleDucK i do think its wrong how long they keep you waiting because they say stress isnt good for the baby but the first few weeks are always going to be stressful when you have no medical confirmation or reassurance!! ...

RockinRobinTweets how far are you? how did your appointment go?

SulkyPuddleDuck · 03/10/2017 13:45

@jmojo Just an HCG check to see if my levels are doubling.. I'm terrified that today's line looks lighter than yesterdays (only fractionally in fairness, and I think the actual control line on yesterday's test is darker too so might just be length of time dipped etc) I think I feel like having had a termination at 7 weeks in the past that fate might throw me a blinder... I feel so guilty :( The thought of waiting another six or seven weeks just to get to talk to someone is making me uber tearful (sigh)

RockinRobinTweets · 03/10/2017 13:51

LJFM2B

I'm about 6 weeks I think. Appointment was fine, I had a different midwife because they're really short staffed - apparently they're all on maternity leave.

The massive paper form does feel very old fashioned. Nothing has changed since I last filled one in really

jmojo · 03/10/2017 14:00

Sulkypuddleduck it is hard to just have faith, especially if you don't have many symptoms. Could you justify getting an early scan just to reassure yourself? It doesn't guarantee anything long term but it might put your mind at ease. They will usually do one privately from around 7 weeks or so. Just google it for a local place.

If it helps any, even if you saw midwife now she wouldn't do much more than ask a lot of questions and check your urine and blood pressure. It is unlikely she would do the HCG test for you. She would likely tell you to see a GP! Hmm

ElizabethLemon · 03/10/2017 14:36

I had a call from the midwife on the way home from work. They've booked me in for the 18th of October. I was asked if I wanted a home birth, midwife unit or hospital birth! I said home birth but presumably I can change my mind?? I think it's quite likely I won't be allowed one anyway due to complications I had in my last pregnancy.

LJFM2B · 03/10/2017 14:41

SulkyPuddleDuck if it makes you feel better, i know you can get hormone counting kits online so rather than a positive or negative it tells you the count ? might make you feel better.

I want to get some appointments in place now :l

HolyShmoly · 03/10/2017 14:44

From what I've read this is just for them to get an idea, it will change if need be. Although I think if you said hospital they mightn't go into detail about other options.
I'm hoping to use the swish birthing centre that's close to work and my house but as it's in a different trust I don't know if I'll have to go further away!
Don't suppose anyone here is from Newcastle/North Tyneside?

LJFM2B · 03/10/2017 14:53

Nope im Kent - sorry

Its mad how every hospital/area have different policies and procedures.

IrnBruCraver · 03/10/2017 14:54

I'm in the Wirral, I hear there are water birth options which I've always thought I'd go for.

ElizabethLemon · 03/10/2017 15:03

LJF it's weird isn't it. I'm at the same hospital as last time but things seem very different already. I know they recently built a very posh new midwifery unit so I guess that's changed things.

I'm in SE London if anyone else is 😌.

timeisnotaline · 03/10/2017 15:07

Oooh robin I remember that form! Dh and I filled it out. Went into booking appt and midwife proceeded to ask us all the questions and type my answer in. My 'answer X... as it's written there. Answer Y... as it's written there'.

It's the digital age!

LJFM2B · 03/10/2017 15:07

ElizabethLemon i have the option of QE (SE London) but im not too far from Daranth Valley so im going there - makes sense, i have to say they dealt with my MC very well and was pleased with the cleanliness etc and seen as you never plan to spend too much time in there i think closest to home in sensible.

Im really trying not to think too far ahead but i cant help it - iv always wondered if a water birth is a good idea too

bonnymnemonic · 03/10/2017 15:49

@LJFM2B and @ElizabethLemon I had a water birth last time and really liked it (as much as one can I suppose?). I found it a great source of pain relief and relaxation. Would recommend it to anyone who is curious and low risk.

jmojo · 03/10/2017 16:20

Ironbrucraver I am on the wirral too, they have a lovely waterbirth room at Arrowe Park.
