Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Well done Ladypug!

Noredwine · 10/10/2017 12:29

So, I know I have mentioned this before but has no one else experienced fresh blood from cervix immediately after doing a difficult poo?! Just had it happen again - having just had scan yesterday and feeling reassured I am now trying to keep calm and tell myself it is nothing sinister and just caused by straining. It's definitely from front end and not back end. Am I alone in experiencing this?

lulupregnant2 · 10/10/2017 12:33

I'm 9 weeks today and my midwife has just pushed back my booking appointment till next week which is a tad annoying especially as last night I had a bit of brown blood when I wiped so now I'm panicking! It is the time my second period of the pregnancy would be due so that's kinda of reassuring but this morning there's traces of brown blood every now and again and can't help but think it's just waiting to all come out :-( has anyone had similar at 9 weeks?

Doublechocolatetiffin · 10/10/2017 12:42

@noredwine congratulations on the scan, it's a lovely pic. Can you speak to the midwife about the blood? It's unlikely to be anything sinister given you've just seen your little one on the scan, but she might be able to reassure you.

@Ladypug well done on getting through the booking in appointment and bloods. I've got mine at my scan, I'm planning on going to the phlobotomist after the scan though. I don't want to give them if there is no point (ever the optimist eh!)

@lulupregnant2 brown blood isn't usually a bad sign. Can you speak to your midwife to check? I know of lots of people who had bleeding (red and brown) through pregnancy and have all had healthy babies.

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, but there is nothing really happing here with me, just counting the days till my scan.

Noredwine · 10/10/2017 12:53

Thanks doublechoc I think I will try and call the midwife later. On a train at present so can't check if still bleeding but hoping it was another one off. Have read about friable cervix online and think that might be what it is. Hopefully will settle down again. Fingers crossed! Counting days down until your scan - must seem like taking forever! I know even waiting for my early scans seemed to take an age. X

lulupregnant2 · 10/10/2017 13:06

Thanks @Doublechocolatetiffin I think I'm gonna try and wait and see what happens tonight at work. Not much is happening but I think that might be cos I refuse to get out of bed so when I work tonight if I have more bleeding I'm gonna call up first thing. I'm
Just so worried it's the start of things going wrong - I have had no symptoms really the whole pregnancy which is adding to my worry! Thanks for replying

Dorotha · 10/10/2017 15:55

@MegsMog I am aware of this. I also know this can be a good bargaining chip to get into the MLU :)

Kirstipops · 10/10/2017 16:46

noredwine not from pooing but I have wiped red after prolonged violent coughing/gagging so I guess the straining would do the same! I read there is an increase in discharge around this point too so that could maybe explain the brown lulu, just clearing out old blood from it being a little irritated/strained for whatever reason recently? I've had this too. With my daughter I had a couple of unexplained bleeds during pregnancy, I was told it's v common and due to the little amount of blood and no pain the midwives were never worried about it. We have 40-50% extra blood volume by now too, guess it makes sense for our bits to be more sensitive!

cautiousoptimist1 · 10/10/2017 17:54

Glad your booking in appointment went well ladypug.

My nausea has developed into sickness today so I'm feeling sorry for myself. Its properly freaked my DD out too Shock. Hopefully she'll be in bed and asleep within an hour so I can just look after myself for a bit Confused.

Thanks for the response Ruby. I tried calling GP for advice but whilst they say they have been trying to call me all day, I've been looking at my phone all day and have no missed calls. Grrrr! I give up! Hip fully everything with just be ok. Think I may change GPsurgery as we seem to often have similar issues (not that I contact them beyond once in a blue moon.

Haven't had any cervical bleeding when straining to poo. However I can imagine that might cause it if cervix is already irritated. God there are so many things for each of us to worry about!

Part of the conference I was at today was about perinatal mental health. Was interesting but a video of a dad talking about his partner having pnd had me in tears. It has prompted me to talk toDP about who to speak to if I appear more bonkers than usual. they said often partners don't know where to get help which struck me as really sad.

Dorotha · 10/10/2017 18:44

So quick update - the midwife rang again and said the consultant doesn't think I need to be in their care and the birth centre should be fine provided that they put a cannula in the beginning 'just on case' and then I have a 'controlled third stage'. No one actually checked my notes to see the cause of the bleed. Well I have months to clarify this!

cautiousoptimist1 · 10/10/2017 18:45

Good idea to have that chat with DP muddleduck. I found my HV very useful there though - I didn't suffer from PND but she basically addressed the topic to my husband for what to watch out for and who to call. It sounds a little patronising written down but it was so I didn't have to over analyse anything.

Hi all , had my booking today I’m 9+4 weeks today had bloods taken can’t wait for my first scan, having back pain trying to rest . Did anyone have there pregnancy confirmed by a blood test I haven’t. The midwife was asking, I have done 3 pregnancy test all positive . Hopefully the scan will confirm it.Blush

SquashyMummy · 10/10/2017 19:10

That's good news Dorota and thanks for sharing - it's useful to know what's being advised for similar cases to mine. Equally I was never told the reason for my haemorrhage.

LadyPug · 10/10/2017 19:26

Thank you noredwine doublechocolate and cautiousoptimist I’ve been offline all day and looks like I’ve missed loads on the thread so about to play catch up now (whilst trying to not throw up the tomato soup I just forced down!)

LadyPug · 10/10/2017 19:42

noredwine I haven’t experienced this but I have read of a few others who have so don’t worry too much (easy to say I know). Bleeding is way more common than I know and something like that might make a difference but (tmi warning) I had such bad diarrhoea for three days that I thought I could have lost the baby** as was just constant and i discovered it’s not possible so I would say don’t worry too much, you’re probably just straining a bit too hard!

LadyPug · 10/10/2017 19:44

Don’t panic lulu mine has stopped now but I had brown blood from week 6 to the end of week 7 and was sent for a scan to be sure. Gp said it’s totally normal, esp in first trimester and only to worry if lots of it, bright red, clots and most importantly bad pain in tummy - around week 8 your womb has doubled in size so that’s not pleasant, could be related!

LadyPug · 10/10/2017 19:47

Bleugh for sickness cautiousoptimist hope you’re enjoying some me time right now! I’m very lucky, DH took a few hours off work today to cover me for booking in appt so he looked after dd and then when I returned I had a nap AND a bath!!! Feel like a new woman! Don’t remember the last bath I had where I wasn’t singing nursery rhymes in it and washing her hair! Ha!

LadyPug · 10/10/2017 19:49

That’s such great news Dorotha

Hey fulltimeparent I had my booking in today also! No, not confirmed by blood test, they barely got me to allow bloods at this appointment! Haha! I just did A LOT of pregnancy tests!

MotherOfBoy · 11/10/2017 06:45

That’s good to know dorotha, thanks for sharing. Have my booking today so will see what they say!

lulu I had sensitive cervix in last pregnancy, had bright bled bleeding at 13 weeks which coincided with sex the night before. Never had any other than that tho but perfectly possible straining could cause it.

MotherOfBoy · 11/10/2017 14:52

All booked in! Been referred to consultant cos of blood loss last time, so that conversation will decide if they are ok for me to give birth at the MLU. The MLU is so nice tho (that’s where my booking was) I really want to give birth there! Won’t know scan date for 2 weeks as hospital v busy whoch is annoying as I’ll be 11 weeks then, hope I get a date soon otherwise it’s awkward with work

SquashyMummy · 11/10/2017 19:09

Thanks for sharing mother. I have my booking in appt tomorrow, it'll be interesting to see if we end up with three different approaches to managing blood loss! How much did you lose?

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 11/10/2017 20:15

Wow, I've missed so many posts! Keep checking in and MN crashes before I can post! Got less than 2 weeks to go before my scan and days are dragging.

Kirstipops · 11/10/2017 20:53

Lovely to hear about good booking-in appt experiences :) Mine is next Tuesday, even though I've done it before I'm nervous for some reason!! My nausea seemed to pass for a couple of days but it's come back with a vengeance today, gah! Guzzled a bag of Randoms on the way to my hair appt today and they were heavenly, wondering if I'm having another girl as I loved jelly sweets when preg with her too, I'm surprised I didn't give birth to a Haribo Grin
