Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Hey Dorotha I also have a bit of a bump, it seems to come and go but i bought some maternity outfits this week in preparation, put them on and suddenly the bump was obvious! Only my parents know currently and I said to them yesterday thankfully I'm not showing too much and I can conceal it cleverly with clothing and they said yeah but the problem is we can see it in your face! I'm like WHAAAAAAAAT?!?! I can't hide my FACE ffs!!!

Fulltimeparent · 06/10/2017 11:01

Dorotha - I feel your pain my youngest likes to climb in my bed some nights also I seem to awake at 3 then can’t seem to sleep after that. Being sleep deprived is the worst you really can’t function for the rest of the day.
Ladybug- I haven’t told anyone yet maybe after the first scan when it really sinks in . Have really bad acne of my face where’s my pregnancy glow your suppose to have maybe in a few months time.

LadyPug · 06/10/2017 11:04

Lol fulltimeparent my face is just big I think! We didn't tell anyone last time until 12 weeks but had to this time as needed emergency childcare from parents so could have an early scan!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 06/10/2017 12:50

Feeling sorry for myself today. I have a rotten cold and this seems to have made nausea worse. I'm not sleeping properly which doesn't help.

Have called in sick to work (fortunately I have made it through the busiest days this week so I won't be letting so many people down today) and all blanketed and hot water bottled up

smu06set · 06/10/2017 15:15

All looking good on scan measuring 8 weeks and saw the heartbeat Smile
Though my hubby has tonsillitis so he has retreated to bed....really hope I don't catch it....

cautiousoptimist1 · 06/10/2017 16:17

Sorry you're feeling so rotten symphony, hope you feel better soon.

Good news on the scan smu, such a relief isn't it? I hope you avoid the tonsillitis!!

Lordie you're a bunch of blethers, had about 3 pages to catch up on there! Hi newbiesBrew
I am quite bloated at 7+6 and already look twice as preggo as I actually am.

My daughter's 3rd bday was Wednesday and she started nursery yesterday so it's been a busy week.
My daughter has always been a reasonably good sleeper and not too much trouble in other ways either so I reckon she is my "trick baby" and #2 is gonna be a wee horror Grin

Whatamuddleduck · 06/10/2017 17:06

Such good news with all these scans!

Is anyone else having blood sugar issues? I'm trying to eat little and often. At least every 2 hours. I thought I was fine this afternoon, had snack at 2 and a biscuit at4. Got up to go home at 4:30 and my blood sugar crashed. Cue the sweats and shakes. A glass of water and some biscuits and haribo has it back under control. Is this usual during pregnancy? I'm not diabetic but like most of us I have occasional issues if I run out of energy. It seems yo be happening quite often!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 06/10/2017 17:43

ladypug my MIL delighted in pointing out how fat my face got when I was pregnant with DS - I did get puffy, but not much I could do about it!

Had my flu jab this morning - I qualify for it anyway due to the medication I'm on, but it felt weird telling the pharmacist I'm pregnant. DH doesn't want to tell anyone until a bit later and it's killing me! I keep having to lie to people and I really hate doing it

Aggy106 · 06/10/2017 18:08

muddleduck I was getting the shakes if I wasn't eating regularly, I also felt really sick if I didn't eat regularly.

My symptoms have all but disappeared and forgetting the sage advice from you guys yesterday I had a bit of a panic this morning so texted my midwife who said this can happen but to phone the early pregnancy unit and they may book me in for a reassurance scan, when I phoned they said they wouldn't book me in as no blood or cramping so I'd have to get my GP to refer me for a scan. We're going away for a week tomorrow so won't be able to have a scan until I'm back. I'm trying not to worry as there's nothing to be done but trying to prepare myself for another miscarriage. Not feeling very optimistic at the moment...

Great news on the scan smu and hope your dh doesn't pass on his germs.

Feel better soon symphony and look after yourself, particularly while you're feeling rotten.

smu06set · 06/10/2017 18:13

aggy my symptoms had gone too, well apart from sore nipples! But baby is happy and healthy Smile so don't assume bad news, hormone dips are natural.

Freshlysteamedfanjo · 06/10/2017 19:08

@muddleduck I was like that last time, the day I went for my glucose tolerance test the same thing happened so I was worried it might be gestational diabetes, but apparently low blood sugar is unrelated. I do have low BP too which I think can cause low blood sugar too.

Whatamuddleduck · 06/10/2017 19:32

I'm reassured that it probably is just one of those things. Think I'll aim to carry some digestives with me. They are the only biscuit I can have one or two if rather than eating a whole pack! Thank you all for the reassurance.

On a different note, my maternity clothes from the jojo maman bebe sale arrived. So comfy! Why don't we wear trousers with bump bands all the time!?!

Elvi1 · 06/10/2017 21:22

Hi ladies, i hope everyone is having a good evening. I'm feeling quite worried tonight. I've had a dull ache/pain for most of the day in the right side of my lower abdomen. it's been pretty much constant. This morning I was telling dh that I'm not concerned at all as it's probably my ligaments stretching (I felt like I'd pulled something in that area yesterday) and that my instinct is everything's fine, but as the day has gone on Ive been feeling more and more worried about eptopic pregnancy. I'm around 7 weeks now, have had no bleeding or cramping (I wouldn't describe these pains as cramps) but i don't recall have pain/ache on one side in my first pregnancy. I'm away over this weekend and so I won't be able to get a scan until next week, but I will if this ache continues. Just wondering if anyone has experience a similar pain? Or is there anyone whose had an eptopic pregnancy who wouldn't mind sharing their experience as to what this felt like?

I've been super chilled this pregnancy and remember from previously pregnancies (one which ended in mmc, another ended in lovely baby -yay) how horrible it is to have these worries. I was really enjoying not thinking too much about things at all as I just feel things are going ok.....until today.

Noredwine · 06/10/2017 22:11

Hi Elvie
don't panic too much - I have had lower stomach pain - middle one day, left another, right side another day and I had an early scan at 7.5 weeks so I know that I'm not ectopic. I had round ligament pain from really early on too - and I actually think the stomach pains I am getting now - with hard distended stomach above pubic bone could be connected to bowel and being constipated. Are you drinking enough water? I know sometimes I am a bit rubbish and not drinking as much as I should. I reckon bread is really affecting me badly too.
I think with ectopic pregnancies they say to look out for shoulder pain as a symptom. If you haven't had that its probably all fine and don't worry too much xxx

SquashyMummy · 06/10/2017 22:35

7+5 today and getting small waves of nausea, so slightly reassured I'm pregnant although boobs not sore at all.

Saw this on facebook and didn't dare like it so thought I'd share it with you all instead! Grin

Elvi1 · 07/10/2017 06:24

Thanks noredwine - your response has really reassured me! No - no shoulder pain which is good. I'm not great at keeping myself hydrated and I need to get better at this - I always forget! Strangely, I've woken up and the pain has completely gone. For now. Right, today's plan is to drink more water and not to worry! x

On another note, the typos in my previous post are shocking! 'Eptopic' 🙈

cautiousoptimist1 · 07/10/2017 06:55

Elvi glad that you feel a little reassured, I was going to say the same as nored but she's actually helped me too as I often don't drink enough so I'm going to try and drink more today too.

That's a different one squashy, have you tried the ovia pregnancy app? I loved it last time and am using it again this time - it tells you the size every week using fruit and veg, weird animals, fun and games or Parisian bakery items.

Gyoza · 07/10/2017 07:46

That chart is excellent squashymummy, a chunk of heroin is much more exciting than a kidney bean! I should be 8 weeks today, still no puking but a weird muscle pain in my right bum cheek that I'm now paranoid is sciatia (sp?) though it says you're unlikely to get that until 3rd trimester!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/10/2017 08:22

I LOVE that size chart! Much more interesting than the raspberries/blueberries etc

I have the Ovia app set on games this week, so baby is the size of a 2x2 lego brick - I like this because they are all of uniform size, unlike raspberries!

Californiadreaming15 · 07/10/2017 09:19

@Noredwine I've just been catching up and saw your post about bleeding. I am now 10+3 and at the 10 week mark I had spotting, mainly when I wiped and was intermittent for 2 days. I spoke with the EPU and the nurse reckoned it was from the placenta. This tied in with a scan I had last week which showed the placenta ready to take over. It's all stopped now.

Aggy106 · 07/10/2017 10:05

Hi all, symptoms coming back today, I should not have panicked! Thank you for all the advice!

squashy thank you for posting the size chart, it really made me and DH laugh a lot! I have the ovia app too and I like the different types of sizes although as symphony says it annoys me that some aren't uniform. I have it set on animals and this week baby has teeny tiny hands and feet for the first time! I'm amazed!

Lorz80 · 07/10/2017 12:41

Someone shared this on another group. Thought I'd share it with you guys! :-)

Motherofpuppies · 07/10/2017 13:18

@squashymummy that is genius Grin

I'm sat in a supermarket cafe right now, unable to move for fear of puking everywhere. Getting all teary-eyed (because hormones are a bitch), generally feeling like the world is collapsing.

Then a lady walks in with the most scrummy newborn bubba and is feeding him and he's just gorgeous. Amazing how much better I felt about life after that! Would love to tell her how much she's just saved my day but I think that would be weird...

SquashyMummy · 07/10/2017 17:17

Thanks all the tip re ovia. I've been using but didn't realise I could change it from fruit. Second time round a mini chameleon or some heroin is much more amusing Grin
