Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Aggy I had exactly that with DD. Symptoms disappeared overnight when I was about 7.5 weeks. Had early scan for reassurance and all was ok. Apparently it's when the placenta takes over? Not sure what it's taking over but that's what I read!

ChefsFloozie · 05/10/2017 15:40

And congratulations cazinge?

ChefsFloozie · 05/10/2017 15:40

There should not be a ? after cazinge. Back to bed for me!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 05/10/2017 15:50

Welcome @Cazinge, it sounds like you've had a bit of a bumpy ride to get here so fingers crossed for a very smooth pregnancy!

Also welcome to @Backin2020, I don't think the reality of pregnancy last time really kicked in until I was feeling kicks (which with an anterior placenta was around 22/23 weeks) so I've still months of denial to go.

@borthy as long as the scan happens between 11 weeks and 14 weeks you can get the testing done. It won't make any difference to dating ability (although I think earlier is more accurate). I'd just tell your midwife at your booking scan you're away that week (I know it's your DH, but it makes it easier!) so you can't do that scan then. My area we actually self refer for scans so I just called and booked mine, but you should be able to get the number for your scan dept on your maternity notes and can just call them to rearrange if they book if for a date he can't make. He should be there, it's hopefully the first time you'll see your baby!

@Noredwine this may be tmi, but are you sure that the blood wasn't from your anus? Sometimes you can get some bleeding when pooing if constipated in pregnancy. Either way though it might be worth giving your midwife a call, she'll be able to reassure you. At least it's not long till the scan, although I bet it feels an age away right now.

LadyPug · 05/10/2017 15:55

Just catching up on the thread, welcome to the newbies! Hope you're ok noredwine defo call the midwife for advice but great that bleeding stopped so quickly.

I'm in agony here today, for some reason back is in agony and still so sick!!!

Fulltimeparent · 05/10/2017 16:07

Hi all , haven’t posted on here in a while have my booking appointment on Tuesday will be 9+2 weeks by then , sending💐for those that are worried or waiting for scans. Has anyone seen 50 shades of grey what are you thoughts.

cautiousoptimist1 · 05/10/2017 17:01

Ladypug, I feel sorry for you if your backache is the same as mine. I haven't slept properly for 2 days but it is easing off today. I took paracetamol but it didn't touch it, I used a heat microwave thing at bedtime to help settle to sleep.

Tiffin - there is no dignity in pregnancy is there!?! Thanks for your message - defo not blood from bum - wiped each separately!! GrinGrinGrin
Seems to have just been a one off episode this morning as had nothing since so hoping it is nothing serious. Have walked the huskies twice now today and whilst tummy feels a bit achy it's not sharp or bad pains and I think I am being hyper-sensitive. So fingers crossed it was just from straining when pooing (constipation is rubbish!!) which squeezed a bit of blood out of a sensitive cervix. I know they can't do anything anyway even if it was something more sinister so will just have to try not to worry all weekend and wait for scan on Monday Sad right now wish I could have a large glass of Wine!!

Aggy106 · 05/10/2017 18:12

Thanks Chefs I hadn't read that about the placenta, I'm 7.6 (ish) days so that would make sense. Did your symptoms come back? I'm wondering if it's a bit that I'm getting better at eating small amounts more regularly and only eating plainish food which I can handle. I've been feeling nauseous over the last few days mostly when I'm hungry.

Glad the blood has stopped nored and if it was only a little bit sure it's nothing to worry about although I feel your pain having to wait until Monday for a scan. My life is revolving around symptoms and scans at the moment.

ladypug and cautious so sorry to hear you've got back pain, I had back pain for a few days a couple of weeks ago and on top of everything else it was so draining. Hope you're both able to put your feet up, I hope it goes away soon.

cautiousoptimist1 · 05/10/2017 18:23

Are there any ladies with 2+ children already? I know we had someone expecting number 6 at one point but I don't remember who that was. Did you have completely different pregnancies with your previous pregnancies and if so did you have a boy and a girl or were they completely different regardless?

OP posts:
LadyPug · 05/10/2017 18:59

Oh goodness cautious that sounds way worse than me! At least I'm sleeping! It's tough isn't it? Don't remember it being this tough last time!!!

Fulltimeparent · 05/10/2017 19:01

@cautiousoptimist1 hi, I’m expecting number 6 I had different pregnancy for all .1st was born 6 weeks early because I got an infection was a boy. 2nd was a girl was a couple of days before due date. 3rd was boy was born 10 weeks early was touch and go for a while . After ward I was diagnosed with cealic disease I think that might have caused him being born early but will never know for sure. 4th was another boy was a weekover due and was bigger than the others . 5th another girl she was born just before her due date. So I don’t know what to expect until I have a scan . Sorry for the long post had spotting early on with both girls nothing this time so I think it might be a boy but might be wrong.

Noredwine · 05/10/2017 19:50

Fulltimeparent - 5 children and another on the way is amazing! You must have so much patience and energy looking after your brood! I am in awe. I can barely looking after myself and a couple of huskies!!
I've had quite bad lower tummy pain right above pelvic bone this evening but no more bleeding. I really hope all is well but it's such a nervous time! How you have gone through 5 pregnancies already I don't know! I feel like I am going mad!

cautiousoptimist1 · 05/10/2017 20:23

Thanks fulltimeparent (great username by the way, I can see why!). This pregnancy already feels so different to my first - last time I had the ridiculously heightened sense of smell, a flare up of eczema (even though I've never suffered from it!) and a bit of nausea that eased with eating. This time I've got more nausea which is worse in the evening, backache (but that could be down to a walking toddler!) and I've had spotting. I'm therefore wondering whether I'm expecting a boy this time.
I don't mind either way and won't find out what I'm having if I can help it, I was just wondering.

Noredwine , youngest has started school have some time but when they are at home there is chaos DH has gone away for 4 weeks trying to cope on my own . Eldest working at the moment. Didn’t know I was pregnant with number 6 coil failed.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/10/2017 20:31

Blimey FTP you must be shattered Flowers

Fulltimeparent · 05/10/2017 20:34

Noredwine , ask me if I have any more patience in six months I remember I was really exhausted last time around that was 5 years ago I will be 39 next year I’m sort of dreading it , it was definitely easier when I was younger. Thanks anyway 😬

Piewraith · 05/10/2017 20:41

Does anyone else have a sick obsession with reading all the parenting threads on this site and thinking "what have I done"?

I can't stop clicking on the threads like "This is shit - if your a happy mum, how?" and reading all the replies "I'm not happy/this is horrible/I want to die". And the sleep ones - "How can I make my baby sleep"..." You can't, my kid has never slept once, I haven't closed my eyes since 2010".

RedPanda25 · 05/10/2017 21:05

Sorry I’ve been checking in only sporadically I’m completed exhausted at the moment and feel like I don’t have much energy to do anything at the moment.

Also quite annoyed at one of my friends as I told her last week (obviously in confidence) and said that we were being cautiously optimistic but may have some good news to share soon and she’s gone and told two other people (at least!) Just so annoyed - why would she think it’s her news to share? Anyway rant over, sorry for the slightly off topic post!

smu06set · 05/10/2017 21:11

Welcome newbies!
I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and having a private early scan - really hope everything is ok! So nervous! I've not had any bleeding but my symptoms seem to have gone...

Gyoza · 05/10/2017 21:52

@redpanda25 that's really rude of your friend, I think some people just don't think, especially if they don't understand why people want to be cautious about announcing it early.

timeisnotaline · 05/10/2017 23:07

I feel like I have a bit of a bump, at 6.5 weeks? When I'm a couple of kg down from the sickness as well... I knew it would appear faster 2nd time around but this is ridiculous!

Noredwine · 06/10/2017 06:53

Full time - at least with no.6 you will have so much experience you will be able to look after the baby with your eyes closed - literally! I'm 39 and if this pip squeak sticks I am sure I will be in panic mode from the moment he/she arrives!
Piewraith - that last post about not sleeping since 2010 just made me laugh out loud!! Stop reading them! You'll just freak yourself out! Like I did yesterday after my bit of red blood - had a complete meltdown on DH last night - tears and all - as he was going to drive back to Swansea to our other place as has his son tonight and I had forgotten and was terrified I was going to miscarry in the night having read loads of posts after ladies found a bit of blood Hmm didn't help as my lower tummy above pubic bone was really extended and painful last night so convinced myself I would bleed in the night. But nope, nothing. But also no other symptoms either. Keep staring at my boobs in the mirror trying to decide if they still look bigger or not!! Grin think we have to develop a sense of humour about all this otherwise I will truly go mad! Have a good day everyone x

Dorotha · 06/10/2017 10:19

My goodness I can't keep up with you lot!

Yesterday I looked into the mirror and realised I had a bump 😳 Like an actual bump! I'm only 10 weeks on Sunday! It doesn't feel like a biscuit bump either - it's rock solid and not the wobbly kind. How random is that? I think I was nearly 20 weeks when I started showing last time.
My dad is coming to stay for a week - I hope he won't notice anything. I need to plan my wardrobe choices carefully 🙈

Dorotha · 06/10/2017 10:20

And yes I haven't slept since 2014 😫 But then I think my son is exceptionally bad and not all of them are this way. I'm really really scared of having to non sleeping children, I have panic attacks about this..
