Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

@whatamuddleduck 😄 We are all such excellent parents aren't we.....until we actually have children 😂 It's cute though.

I've just ordered some non-alcoholic gin with my food shopping tomorrow! I'm quite excited.

Noredwine · 03/10/2017 20:27

Treehousemama - amazing news! You must be so chuffed.
Thanks everyone for their various suggestions about meeting new parents - it is my first so I am definitely intending to do NCT in due course. Yoga not really my thing! Luckily since moving to our village we have got to know almost everyone as they do quite a few village events and we even have a village whatsapp group but the majority of the village are much older.

MilfordFound · 03/10/2017 22:06

Really sorry Phoenix, look after yourself x
Congrats Treehousemama what a great outcome!
We moved house, our new place is fab, so much more space. Still surrounded by boxes. My partner literally did ALL the packing while I led on the sofa whining about how sick I felt. I'm a terrible person to be around at the moment.

Tonight the heartburn started, wtf! I wasn't expecting that til 2nd trimester. I am not prepared, no gaviscon. Will have to get some tomorrow. Heartburn and nausea, ugh.
My uterus feels like a small hard rock wedged in my pelvis. My stomach is bloating out looks crazy big for almost 9wks. But I know it's chubb because the uterus rock is so far down and miles away from the bloat!

I worked today but have the rest of the week off. Supposedly for more unpacking and settling in. What's really going to happen is I'm going to lie on the sofa complaining about the way my body hates me and is trying to kill me with nausea and heartburn, while my other half unpacks and organises and my daughter watches paw patrol and eats biscuits.

LadyPug · 03/10/2017 22:44

Hehehe Milford this cracks me up! I went out for an emergency Gaviscon purchase the other night! Last time didn't kick in till week 14, this time week 6!!! Wow, are you 9 weeks already? That's amazing, nearly double figures. Who is up first for their 12 week scan?

treehousemama · 03/10/2017 22:51

Thanks everyone!

Haha Milford I must admit to a fair amount of whinging too, and I haven't got any kids to chase around nor am I moving house! I need to suck it up!

motherofpuppies that's a great list! Definitely all about the cold stuff here. We don't have a freezer but I've made the executive decision that I NEED ice lollies so I think this weekend we'll sort that out. Wink

timeisnotaline · 03/10/2017 23:39

Great news on the scans ladies! My dh is doing just about everything at the moment.

Gyoza · 04/10/2017 06:58

Anyone else still not got any sickness? I'm 7+4 and feeling a bit bleurgh and need to be snacking all the time but I wouldn't call it proper nausea.

cautiousoptimist1 · 04/10/2017 07:26

So pleased for you treehousemama and megsmog. Lovely news.

whatamuddleduck, lovely that your DH is so excited, definitely write down what he's not going to be doing though so you can remind him. I fell even more in love with my DH watching him become a Dad and my DD doesn't laugh for anyone else the way she laughs for Daddy.

I was so glad to have my Mum here yesterday as I'm still having back spasms. I've taken paracetamol but it doesn't really touch it. I don't know how long to leave it to go to the doctors because there's not much they can do for backs anyway is there let alone a pregnant woman?!

Same gyoza - I'm 7+5 and have had no morning sickness. My main thing has been dizziness and bigger boobs! Oh and going off diet coke!

Aggy106 · 04/10/2017 07:32

Great news on the scans!

My booking in appointment with the midwife yesterday was fine and she was ok when we said we don't want to talk about anything beyond the 12 week scan for now. She did do bloods, strange how some do and some don't.

On the topic of food I just want plain carbs too, I've also been craving sardines but not sure I'd be able to keep them down, strange what your body wants.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 04/10/2017 07:39

I'm the same gyoza, apparently 25% of people don't get morning sickness. I just count myself lucky that I'm one of them! I can't imagine how awful it must be feeling sick for all this time - you ladies have my upmost respect for doing this!

MegsMog · 04/10/2017 07:41

cautious I would probably bypass GP and go straight to a good osteopath. Getting any issues seen to sooner rather than later during pregnancy is sensible as they can get worse as relaxin increases. Hope you feel better soon.

Gyoza · 04/10/2017 07:44

Yeah I hate being sick so thankful I'm not but at the same time adds to the worries, this pregnancy lark is stressful! I would second going straight to an osteopath, you'll probably just be referred there anyway

Doublechocolatetiffin · 04/10/2017 07:52

@cautious I've been seeing a chiropractor regularly for a while now and will continue through pregnancy. She's made a huge difference to a pain I've been having in my hip for a year or so (perils of carrying a child for too long - didn't walk until 19 months!!). She's changed some of her treatment since I got pregnant to not adjust the areas associated with the womb, but other than that she's carrying on as normal.

Piewraith · 04/10/2017 09:56

Is anyone having the harmony test, and if so, are you having the first trimester screening/12 week scan as well. I'm having the Harmony and the gp said there's no need for a 12 week scan because of that. Researching it though I've found a lot of people on the net disagree or have been advised otherwise. Anyone know anything about this?

Noredwine · 04/10/2017 10:06

Hi Piewrath yes I am having Harmony test at 10.5 weeks (next Monday all being well) and will still be having NHS test at 12 weeks BUT don't need NHS to do the same blood tests as Harmony just the neucal measurement of the neck when they do the NHS scan and usual blood tests which test mother for certain conditions that Harmony doesn't test for. I agreed what testing would be required when I saw the midwife at my first appointment at 8 weeks. So I think you still need the NHS test (nice to get another scan anyway) but not all the usual bloods about checking for Downs etc as the Harmony one is more accurate and it will just confuse you to get NHS tests for same thing which are not as accurate. You still need the neck gap measuring however so still need to go to the NHS scan. X

MooChops89 · 04/10/2017 13:26

I've just noticed a June 2018 thread! It's nice not to be the newbies any more! I had my booking appt yesterday, hoping I'll have a date for the scan by tomorrow. Just want it to be here, because I'm excited to see it but also so we can finally tell people! I find myself just avoiding my nearest and dearest at the min which is stupid!

Noredwine · 04/10/2017 13:26

Any one finding it hard to concentrate at work - not because of symptoms (I seem to have got away very lightly on that front) but because you are a) so tired and b) can't stop worrying if you are pregnant or not?!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 04/10/2017 13:39

I have discovered that when my breast pain is worse, nausea is better and vice versa. Definitely prefer the breast pain!

wilkojnr · 04/10/2017 13:47

Noredwine yes yes yes! I feel most days like just putting my head on my desk and falling asleep, I keep having to go and sit on the loo because I’m nauseous and constantly worrying that I might not really be pregnant (which is ridiculous given the symptoms I’ve just mentioned!! Confused)

HerSymphonyAndSong · 04/10/2017 13:53

I do feel like I'm going to get to the booking appointment and they are going to look at me like I'm a loon because I can't possibly be pregnant!

ChefsFloozie · 04/10/2017 14:02

Hello all,

So I've been lurking whilst getting my head round my BFP! It's been nice to see and commiserate with others that are in the exhausted/vomity boat (in the nicest possible way). Woke up today feeling much better so fingers crossed that stays.

Already have DD1 who is 16 months, I'm back working 2 days a week so napping at lunchtime the days I'm at home which helps. 8 weeks tomorrow so due 19th May all being well. Eeeeek!

LadyPug · 04/10/2017 14:03

Welcome Floozie and yes everyone, totally feeling rough here and hanging on by a thread!

Dorotha · 04/10/2017 14:18

I'm really struggling with work. I keep going to the toilet so I could just sit down and close my eyes and switch off for 5-10 minutes. I worry I'll get into trouble though. It doesn't help that my work is very boring at the moment - I can't keep my eyes open as my son has been getting up at 5:30am 😭

Noredwine · 04/10/2017 14:49

Welcome Floozie!
*
Wilko* - glad it's not just me!! I was convinced before early private scan at 7.5 weeks that not viable as mild nausea and sore boobs and tiredness all sudden stopped but there pip squeak was. So then felt reassured for a week or so but as time passed started to worry again as no symptoms. Then sore boobs came back but that it is really (I know I am lucky as many of you are throwing up a lot) and sore boobs come and go too so I feel like a yo-yo. One minute reassured and the next day worried! First baby and older (39) and work very pressured so keep thinking the worst! Especially as so many of my friends had mc first time round...
