Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

So sorry Phoenix Flowers** its so tough this pregnancy stuff - I am thinking of you.
Welcome to Pink Smile
In terms of telling people, me and DH decided to tell both sets of parents after we had had our early scan at 7.5 weeks - we happened to be each visiting our own parents that following weekend so seemed a good time. However we both strongly caveated it with - don't get excited yet as very early and lots could happen (not less as I am an older potential mum). So they are under strict instructions to keep quiet and not talk about it too much until we have next scan at 10.5 weeks and test results! I was glad we told them though as secret was killing me!

MrsOB27 · 02/10/2017 18:10

So sorry @Phoenix!! Take care of yourself Flowers

Welcome @pinkcarpet!!

I'm 9+5 today and the not telling people is starting to get really hard! My friend in work today was talking babies! I feel like people can see a bit of a podgey belly too which is probably just me being paranoid!

Found going to work today actually kind of helped, kept me busy and not focused on how exhausted I am.

Sending hugs @pheonix I hope you're being well looked after.

So far we've told a couple of friends only because we're supposed to be going to a wedding abroad in April with them, not telling the parents until 12 as I can't trust my mum to keep quiet! Still no major symptoms and 7+2 today.

Kirstipops · 02/10/2017 18:43

If you are still reading I'm so sorry Phoenix, take care xxx

Welcome Pink Brew Smile

I'm 7+3 today. I felt like death yesterday, tired, exhausted, nauseous, emotional, bloated, so this nicely set up a bit of a tiff with my DH because he reckons our nearly 3yo daughter is tantrumming because she gets too many treats (she certainly does not!) and so bad behaviour is being rewarded. I explained that it's normal for 2 year olds to behave like loons sometimes, they're testing boundaries, acting out, still working out how to handle their emotions etc but no, he is convinced it is all to do with how she is being brought upAngry so this obv felt like a slight on me as I do much of the childcareHmm She really is a well behaved/mannered child most of the time so I felt offended for her too! She had thrown a tantrum because she didn't want to go in her carrier when we were out for a walk yesterday and he stood there shaking his head and said "Where did we go wrong?" Gah he just won't understand that it's a normal developmental thing! It's how the terrible Twos got their name ffs!

Dorotha · 02/10/2017 18:57

I'm so sorry @PhoenixDown :(

@Kirstipops I'm with you there! 3 year olds are really hard work and my husband likes to put his foot down (sometimes just out of principle) and this never ends well. Gaaah!! I feel like effing United Nations sometimes!

We haven't told anyone and won't until the scan. My dad is staying with us for a week next week - I don't know how I'm going manage to hide my nausea but I don't want to tell anyone without a scan.

Kirstipops · 02/10/2017 19:13

Yes Dorotha ! There is something about my husband's tone when he tells her off that really riles her up even more, whereas I'm usually able to head her off at the pass and she'll sometimes even apologise, whereas with him she goes from zero to apeshit in no time Hmm. She's 3 on Wednesday, I'll have a threenager, argh!

timeisnotaline · 02/10/2017 20:20

I'm sorry I haven't caught up with everyone. Someone early on posted a link to some stats on miscarriage , does anyone remember it? I've just gone back to look but can't find it. I think I have to tell work - I've been feeling terrible all day, came home sick, have been throwing up every few hours and am not really able to eat anything. It's a really busy time with a big deadline this weekend so it's shit. I am on cyclizine but it's not helping, and makes me so sleepy,so need to try something else. It's so early to tell work! I'm just over 6 weeks.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 02/10/2017 20:25

Sorry you're feeling so rotten timeisnotaline

I have the attached screenshot which I look at every so often to reassure/terrify myself

timeisnotaline · 02/10/2017 20:33

Ugh so I'm heading towards 4% which is still quite high isn't it? I haven't had a scan though. I'd rather not tell work but it seem so very unfair to not explain.

timeisnotaline · 02/10/2017 20:33

And thanks symphony!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 02/10/2017 20:47

I am 8 weeks tomorrow and haven't had a scan so assume still 10% ish risk which is not helpful

Aceofspade · 02/10/2017 20:53

Hi everyone, has anyone been referred to a consultant due to low bmi? I'm stressing out as mine is very low and I still haven't put on any weight and I'm 8 weeks tomorrow. I know I need to put on weight but I just can't stomach any food atm. I'm nibbling throughout the day but meals are a no no😔

timeisnotaline · 02/10/2017 20:55

Are you getting morning sickness symphony? I looked up the website and The research link below says for asymptomatic pregnancies , so while I haven't had a scan I think it's safe to go for a lower number given I am very much symptomatic...

HerSymphonyAndSong · 02/10/2017 20:58

Waves of nausea morning and evening, only been sick once though, so I have been lucky that it is not debilitating (though of course it makes me anxious 🙄)

timeisnotaline · 02/10/2017 21:11

That is not asymptomatic! I don't know how people seem to breeze through the nausea - I find it almort as difficult as the being sick.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 02/10/2017 21:19

Sorry, I wasn't implying I was asymptomatic - I had clearly blocked that part of the data from my memory :D

I'm not breezing through it (keep being late for work if i'm struggling to stand up and get to the car) but I think it is a lot less severe for me than for others, I am very lucky

HerSymphonyAndSong · 02/10/2017 21:22

But anyway, your work problem - is your manager approachable?

CaptainsCat · 02/10/2017 21:33

Ace, I was referred to a consultant for a low BMI in my last pregnancy. They asked me a few questions about my diet etc (I was just a naturally thin 24 year old), I had a few appointments with the consultant where they basically did blood pressure and urine checks, and I had two growth scans in the third trimester too. All was well with me and my DD and I was midwife led for the birth. She was quite a small baby but well within the bounds of healthy.

It caused me so much worry at the time, but I put on about 4 stones by the end, I think the lighter you start out the more you gain in compensation.

I live in a different area now, and they don't refer for low BMI because they have found it to be 'pointless'!

Noredwine · 02/10/2017 22:10

Ace - from the other end of the spectrum - I have a BMI which is just 30 so high according to the stupid graphs (I am 5ft 4 and have always been heavy on the scales as quite muscly legs and relatively big bones) even though you wouldn't look at me and think I was really overweight (I'm a size 14/16) and I am now 8.5 weeks and I haven't put any weight on either. Weight gain at this early stage isn't much - they reckon a max of 1 to 5 pounds in first trimester and fetus only really starts doubling in size from week 9 onwards so before that I wouldn't expect any weight gain so I really wouldn't worry about it at this stage. X

Aceofspade · 02/10/2017 22:12

Thanks @captainscat that's reassuring. I'm also just naturally very small (although unfortunately no longer 24🙁). I'm really worrying that my appetite is getting less rather than more though. Hopefully that picks up when the nausea subsides.

Everything is such a worry at this stage isn't it!

CaptainsCat · 02/10/2017 22:30

Ace, don't worry, your appetite will pick up again, and probably then some GrinI had bad morning sickness last time and lost weight in the first trimester, but like I said I ended up gaining quite a lot! I actually loved seeing my weight go up! This time I'm no longer 24 either, so not quite as svelte as I used to be!!

Kirstipops · 03/10/2017 07:18

Currently feeling irrational hatred towards a woman sitting in front of me on the bus who is wearing something patchouli-scented as it's giving me the heave ho Blush

Noredwine sounds like we have similar body types, I fondly refer to my being built "like a brick shithouse"Grin

Have a good day ladies Brew

HerSymphonyAndSong · 03/10/2017 07:25

That hatred is not irrational kirstipops - entirely reasonable

Noredwine · 03/10/2017 07:32

Kirstipops - I fondly refer to myself as a pit pony - strong and sturdy!!

And I'm 9.5 weeks not 8.5 weeks - I swear baby brain is already setting in!

Feel this morning like I have been run over by that bus you are sat on. Did a lot of walking in Bristol yesterday for work and then over an hour with huskies last night and feel shattered this morning. Just want to stay in bed. Yawn.
