Gyoza I couldn't bring myself to order well done steak so had chicken instead at a steakhouse

LadyPug · 29/09/2017 18:09

Welcome back fanjo

Gyoza · 29/09/2017 18:12

@hersymphonyandsong yeah I can't do it, it's just wrong, I'm going to have to have fish or something

Poppy012 · 29/09/2017 18:19

How are you doing now @ladypug

Motherofpuppies · 29/09/2017 18:20

Ooh is rare steak bad? Didn't know about that one. I don't eat red meat but all of a sudden that's gone completely out the window. Wondering if I need more iron as it's become a massive craving!

Was just wondering if anyone is struggling with aversions to all smells? I have two sausage dogs who are my life (hence the username) but I'm struggling to go near them half the time because I can't stand any smells Confused. My poor DH is constantly bathing them for me! Does this stop soon?? My DH says they don't smell so think it's just this damn bionic nose that comes with pregnancy.

LadyPug · 29/09/2017 18:22

Hey poppy I'm ok thank you! Every other wee I'm still getting brown blood but no pain and I still feel pregnant (read: sick as a dog) so I'm hoping we're all good!

Poppy012 · 29/09/2017 18:24

Ah glad your ok Smile

LadyPug · 29/09/2017 18:24

Hey motherofpuppies yes rare steak is bad. I don't eat red meat normally but last pregnancy I walked up to raw meat in supermarket and told DH I need to eat this! As soon as I opened it I had this insane craving to eat it raw!!!! Normally that would repulse me but I realised how much I was craving iron!

Btw I also have a sausage dog! I'm also really repulsed by all smells, my DH deodorant is sending me over the edge and the smell of coffee is making me urge (same as last time!) I normally love coffee!!!

MilfordFound · 29/09/2017 18:47

Hi all, I'm back from holiday, thanks to all who gave advice on how to keep the toddler dictator entertained. She did really well and it was no where near as bad as I feared! We've been away with family, had to tell them the news as it was obvious from how ill I was and the fact I wasn't drinking. Everyone very happy for us.

Got home this afternoon, unpacked, bad headache, bleeding bright red blood and stabby pains :-(
It's not a good sign is it? I had a scan at 5w6d which showed a heartbeat so I had been feeling pretty safe.
I don't know if there's an EPU near me, I haven't had a booking in appt yet. I don't know who to call to ask about a scan! Maybe I'll try the maternity unit at the hospital in the morning and see if they have any advice.

Moving house on Monday. Meant to finish packing up the house this weekend. My partner is trying to be positive, but I'm fearing the worst :-(

PhoenixDown · 29/09/2017 18:54

Milford You could ring the main hospital switchboard and ask to speak to the EPU, your GP would have the details too but as its out of hours now you could also ring 111. When I had bleeding with DD on a weekend I phoned 111 and they got me in to see the out of hours GP who referred me to EPU. Hope all is ok x

Aggy106 · 29/09/2017 19:52

Hope all is ok Milford and you track down the right person to speak to, I think either 111 or Hospital switchboard as Phoenix said.

I haven't been feeling sick all day since Monday, I get these waves of nausea though every so often and I've been properly sick once first thing. I am absolutey shattered too so tucked up in bed (8pm on a Friday night, I know how to live!). It's our anniversary this weekend so I'm celebrating with loads of rest! Hope you've all got lovely stress free weekends planned (hope the move goes well Milford).

Night night!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 29/09/2017 20:16

@Milford, I'm sorry to hear you're bleeding. I would call 111 to see what your best option is. When I've been referred to the EPU it's always been via my GP, which I'm guessing isn't that useful being a Friday night so 111 might be able to help you.

I know lots of people who've had bright red bleeding and all has been fine so don't lose hope yet. I hope you get to see someone soon.

LadyPug · 29/09/2017 22:14

Sorry to hear this milford I hope you're ok!

SquashyMummy · 29/09/2017 22:43

Evening ladies

Sorry for the recent losses and worries.

I'm 6+5 today and still limited in symptoms. I was expecting to have really sore nipples by now. Is anyone else finding they have less nipple pain than in their first pregnancy? I'm wondering whether my boobs have already changed and adapted to a certain extent?

LadyPug · 29/09/2017 23:36

Yes Squashy I had such bad breast pain last time, zero pain at all this time. DH thinks it's because the first time around they go through more change and have already adapted

Kirstipops · 30/09/2017 00:46

I don't have sore nips at all, just tenderish boobs but nowhere near as tender as first time round, but like ladypug 's hubbie says, maybe it's just cos they just know what they're doing this time round!

milford hope you can speak to the right person and get some reassurance.

The nausea kicked up a notch for me a few days ago but I'm finding it easy to keep a lid on it if I graze all day, I really need to start carrying healthy snacks around before I turn into a walking Turkish Delight!

Noredwine · 30/09/2017 01:25

Best of luck Milford hope all is ok and settles down tonight.
I had big work conference today and the evening is a booze affair and I found it really hard to pretend to drink when I wasn't! The champagne reception was hardest! I like a drink so knew work colleagues would think it odd if I didn't drink (or more likely that I was preggers!) so adopted the - oooh that champers doesn't taste nice I'm getting a vodka lime and soda approach (minus the vodka)! Seemed to work most of the night and I just accepted red wine at the table and didn't drink it! Back ache and boob ache now after being in high heels and squashed in a posh frock all evening and big pants! At least boob ache means I might actually still be pregnant! I never really appreciated how stressful this first trimester is! Can't wait to get past 12 weeks! Fingers and toes crossed for everyone x

RedPanda25 · 30/09/2017 08:09

How are you doing @MilfordFound? Been thinking of you.

I'm managing to keep a hold on my nausea too but snacking all day and not eating any big meals but I'm going to be so fat at this rate!

LadyPug · 30/09/2017 08:11

Haha genius noredwine

How are you today milford

MilfordFound · 30/09/2017 09:07

Morning, thanks for all the reassurance! It's great to have a group of people for support as it's not something I'd share in real life.
Bleeding has stopped, it only lasted an hour or two as red before turning brown, still getting weird stabby pains which is a bit concerning. I've been getting cramps and aching which is common and I've put down to uterus stretching etc. Stabbiness is new. I'm hoping it's a result of lifting suitcases and toddler etc rather than something worse.

I've found details of my local EPU, it does say that they take some self referrals but usually it's gp or midwife referral. I'll give them a call on Monday, maybe the fact that I'm moving and changing gps will mean they let me self refer.

I'm also considering just booking another private scan, the one local to me is £29 and has slots today and tomorrow. Pretty cheap for peace of mind! But also can't be doing that at every twinge, if it was a weekly occurrence it would get expensive! My partner thinks we should call EPU on Monday he thinks they will do more tests and find the cause or treat the problem. Whereas I'm thinking there's nothing that can be done other than scan and see if there's a heartbeat or not.

Still feeling dreadful, nauseous and sore boobs. Will have to drag myself round the house to do the packing. At least it will be a distraction!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 30/09/2017 09:13

Milford a couple of people on this thread have had sharp pains that have turned out to be UTIs (are they common in early pregnancy maybe?) which the EPU has picked up and treated, so worth getting the pains checked when you can

cautiousoptimist1 · 30/09/2017 09:26

Glad the bleeding has stopped milford, I think for £29 I'd go for a private scan too. I haven't had a private one but I imagine they'd also check for any obvious source of bleeding.

Gyoza, I also wouldn't have been able to order well done steak. Last time, I could deal with the no alcohol and low caffeine (the only time I missed wine was Christmas Eve!) but no rare steak or goats cheese is so unfair. When the breastfeeding team came to see me before I had DD, I told them that the deciding factor would be whether I could have a decent steak and a glass of red or not! (You can have both when bfing.)

I'm meeting friends tonight for a meal and I feel rotten. This is the first time we've met up properly all year so I want to go but the nausea is now lasting all day and I'm starving by 5:30 so waiting til 7:30 will be interesting. I already have to have sweets in the car for the nausea. And my DD is still waking up for 2 hours a night so I'm shattered!

6 weeks today and not really felt nauseous at all yet. Little bit worrying but mostly I’m just glad.. I have a vomit phobia so not sure how I’d cope!

Going to Manchester for all day (pretend) drinking today - should be interesting to see if I can still keep it a secret!

Anyone in Stoke-on-Trent had an early scan that didn’t cost too much?

Motherofpuppies · 30/09/2017 09:43

@scoutcat I'm near Stoke-on-Trent and spoken to a few places but haven't found anywhere to do an early scan at all, for any price! Window to the Womb are getting the equipment to do it on 10th Oct but I'll be 10 weeks by then so not much point I don't think. The nearest place looks like at least an hour away Confused

LadyPug · 30/09/2017 15:23

Afternoon everyone! I'm wiped out! This is the second afternoon I've slept for 2/3 hours in the middle of the day! Anybody else?!
