Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Omg dorotha that's awful and scary! Hope you're ok! I'm 6 + 3 and haven't heard of phantom periods but that's what it's been like now for 5 days, like the last day of a period when there's barely anything left!

NancyNoo32 · 28/09/2017 19:49

So sorry Lindy Flowers

Dorotha, that's terrible! Are you ok? Hope you're not too shaken up.

As the stabbing pain carried on yesterday (though stopped overnight) I had an early scan this morning. All looks fine, good heartbeat, measuring a few days behind my dates but like others have already said, apparently normal due to accuracy issues. My biggest fear was that the pain was due to it being ectopic so it's a relief to know it's in the right place.

Ladypug, I also had an internal scan- had forgotten how uncomfortable they can be. Hope your bleeding stops very soon.

And yes, I am exhausted all of the time too. Starting to feel real waves of nausea and feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of going through all the sickness again- am a primary teacher and with DD I had to run out of the classroom three or four times a day to be sick! Don't think I can do it again...

timeisnotaline · 28/09/2017 20:03

Goodness Dorotha, scary! Are you in London? It's very common near me, I know I'm not careful enough.

Dorotha · 28/09/2017 20:11

I already had a headache but these arseholes have turned it into a migraine. It's very common here (yes, London!) but still I didn't expect it to happen on my road (very residential) with quite a few people around. I mostly just felt mad and yelled at them 🙈

Doublechocolatetiffin · 28/09/2017 20:15

Oh now scary @Dorotha are you ok?

@Nancynoo I'm so pleased all was ok with the scan today. Lovely news.

I'm glad it's not just me that unbearably tired. I keep on thinking today I'll do more and then I don't (although I know if I had a burst of energy I'd be worried 🙄)

PhoenixDown · 28/09/2017 20:18

Dorotha I hope you're OK, it's really scary when that happens Flowers

So I've been doing some working out and possibly clutching at straws, but I think it's likely I could actually be only just 6 weeks. Looking at my actual symptoms I normally get around ovulation (cramping and then sore boobs the day after) that I charted on FF, it looks likely I ovulated CD23 (31st Aug), which would put me at only just 6 today. I had a positive bloody OPK on CD18! When I override the ovulation date on my chart, it comes up with me having my first BFP on CD12 (same as with DD) and explains why I was getting BFNs before. I did wonder why BFP was so late this time. Also I did a CB digi this Sat just gone which put me at 5+ weeks, the Sat before was 4-5, so again matches up.

I know I may be clutching at straws but adding it all up it actually makes sense. Time will tell I guess. Sorry for this post I'm just thinking out loud really Confused

PhoenixDown · 28/09/2017 20:20

Sorry Nancy missed your post, great to hear scan went well and you saw the heartbeat!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 28/09/2017 20:21

@Phoenix it sounds like it could just be that you ovulated late. Fingers crossed. When is your next scan?

PhoenixDown · 28/09/2017 20:22

doublechocolate You should see the washing pile I have to sort and the mess everywhere, but I just absolutely cannot be arsed

PhoenixDown · 28/09/2017 20:24

doublechocolate 2 weeks today which is an eternity. Fingers crossed for no more bleeding or funny business before then!

Lorz80 · 28/09/2017 21:11

Doublehocolate - my scan is 2 weeks today too. It's totally dragging! This has been the longest few weeks ever!!!! This entire year has flown by and suddenly it's like someone has stopped time!!!

I'm partly excited and partly terrified by the scan! Part of me wants to do another pregnancy test and the other part of me is too scared in case it hasn't changed from 2-3 weeks or it suddenly says 'not pregnant'.

No one told me pregnancy was such a worrying time.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 28/09/2017 22:35

We need these next few weeks to fly by don't we! Roll on end of October and hopefully end of the first trimester.

willisurvive2under2 · 28/09/2017 22:56

Hugs to those of you who have had bad news Flowers

For what it's worth, I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in August. I thought my body would need a little while but I got pregnant again on that same cycle. So you could get pregnant again quickly if you wish to do so. Will be thinking of you xx

Noredwine · 28/09/2017 23:15

Thanks Cautious
Rubyshoes - yes I am doing harmony test - I am 39 and worried whether still pregnant having had scan at 7.5 so combination of another one at 10.5 and getting more accurate result on downs and other things when I am at higher risk was enough for me to go for it. I don't want to find out sex but do want reassurance I am still pregnant (not having many symptoms) and accurate test. I'm lucky as can afford it but I know not everyone can. I think it's coming on NhS from April next year in some areas but that's no good for us now!

Noredwine · 28/09/2017 23:24

Sorry - still catching up on thread as been tied up with work all day - so sorry for those with bad news or bleeding. Flowers fingers crossed any brown bleeding is just your body getting rid of old blood and nothing sinister x

PhoenixDown · 29/09/2017 10:30

Hope everyone is doing OK today. I've not had a speck of blood since the bit of spotting on Tues. Wish my rescan was sooner than 2 weeks but I suppose they need to leave enough time to be 100% sure if three's been growth or not. Mild cramping on and off but had that all through first trimester with DD.

This early stage is literally the worst isn't it?

Firework83 · 29/09/2017 10:56

Yep who knew the first trimester was such a bitch! And to make it worse you're trying to cover it up!

I've had small amounts of spotting and I had such a bad day yesterday after an overwhelming Booking In appointment that I've now booked a private scan for £80 this Sunday when I'll be 9+2.

Partly because I can't go to a walk in during the week without explaining more time off to my boss, also because I just want some reassurance that everything I'm feeling right now is justified because everything is looking healthy. I think it will just help bridge the gap between now and my 12 week scan (in 3 weeks 3 days not that I'm counting!).

Can't wait for us all to hopefully start enjoying our pregnancies a bit more!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 29/09/2017 12:53

Yes I found the worry about whether I would conceive hard enough (and my utmost respect and sympathy for those who go through it for months and years). I had not anticipated how long and anxious the first 12 weeks feel. I feel so sure that if I get to 12 week scan it will be a MMC (or even all in my head!), I don't know why, and there is nothing I can do to reassure myself

timeisnotaline · 29/09/2017 14:00

I really want to tell work so i can step back a bit. But I'd hate them to know if it did end up as a miscarriage. 6 weeks till a 12 week scan :/

HerSymphonyAndSong · 29/09/2017 14:28

I'm hopeful that they may let me book a scan during the 11+ week as that is half term and H is a teacher. He could get time off during term time but it is so much harder. But if it can't be arranged then we can live with it!

Dorotha · 29/09/2017 16:24

He can definitely have time off to attend a scan with his wife. My other half is also a teacher :)

My scan is during half term by coincidence. Also, we will be in Italy until Wednesday and then I have my scan on Thursday - great timing, purely by accident.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 29/09/2017 16:49

Oh it's more about asking for it before we have disclosed to work, not concerned that it will be denied - but I pointed out that if it's not good news and he needs time off as a result then he would have to tell them anyway!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 29/09/2017 16:51

I am sure he can just tell them that I have a hospital appt that he wants to attend with me, and if he needs to he will get the time off. But you know tiresome being absent from school can be so hopefully we will get a happy coincidence anyway!

Freshlysteamedfanjo · 29/09/2017 17:17

Found you all again, been away on holiday!

Gyoza · 29/09/2017 17:19

Argh, off for a family meal with the in-laws tonight and we're going to a steakhouse, I love rare steak but guessing that's a no-no! Worried no booze and a well done steak will defo give the game away 🙈
